Upgrade memory OptiPlex 780

I bought 2 x 4 GB memory to update my 780 Optiplex originally shipped with only 2 GB. I did some research to make sure that memory, I buy would be compatible with the motherboard. I bought the next memory at amazon:

www.Amazon.com/.../Ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00; PSC = 1

When I put in the new memory, the PC starts normally, fans work and everything, but I have absolutely no video signal to my monitor. When I appear in the old 2 GB, the computer starts normally and I can use it.

Can you please indicate how do the new memory works, if I have to go into the bios?

Thank you in advance.

Then I understood the question, I had to upgrade the Bios A15 and then as soon as I installed the new glue 2x4gb Optiplex 780 automatically their picked up and worked perfectly.

I have a 780 with the Intel E7500, Q45 chipset and A15 BIOS CPU and I'm running 12 GB of DDR3 RAM. Two 4 GB and 2 GB

Yep, catilley, I'm afraid, you're just wrong on this point - your info is old, apparently.  I, too, running an Optiplex 780 with an Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 CPU, chipset Q45 and 12 GB of DDR3 memory - in fact, it's the same machine that I write this response at this time.

As I posted a year ago on this thread, the official manual of Service from Dell for Optiplex 780 confirms it will take up to 16 MB of memory DDR3, 4 GB per slot.  Here is the link, directly from the Dell website:

  • Dell Optiplex 780 memory update does not

    1. I have purchase Dell Optiplex 780 supplied with memory DDR3 8 GB (4x2Go). I wanted to update so I bought 4 GB RAM (4x1Go) and tried to install it today. The diagnostic lights Dell on 3 and 4, which means that the memory is detected, but at fault. Now, I doubt that this new module of memory are defective. Here's what I did to solve problems:

I took the original strips and installed a new. There are 4 DIMM and I tried to put it in all the 4 connectors DIMM one, but my PC will not start and shows the Dell diagnostic lights lit 3 and 4. then I put my original RAMS but still the same problem has happened that I also tried the two Rams Original one by one in all the slots but same question :(

I also tried without installed memory but still Dell lights lit diagnostic 3 and 4 and no beep heard.

Can someone help me what is the problem real?

    Hi Danish_smartpk,

Welcome to the Dell Community Forum.

If the 3 and 4 diagnostic lights are lit, it is code modules of memory detected, but a memory failure that occurred. You also mentioned that there is not only no beeps no heard when no memory is installed. When no memory is detected by the system, it emits beep codes indicating the same.  If the motherboard is not beep when no memory is installed, it could indicate failure systemboard.

It is generally recommended that the BIOS updated before the new memory being installed. In addition, your computer supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM DDR3 SDRAM (memory non - ECC only). If it already came with 8 GB of memory, it would not take an additional upgrade.

  • Dell Optiplex 780 MT CPU Upgrade & radiator

    Hello

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 MT Pentium Dual Core E5400 2.70 ghz I would put a quad Q9550 CPU in. The radiator of origin will be adequate for the new Q9550?

I know my 755 he had a nice copper radiator which had no problem with the same upgrade, but not sure about the 780 MT

I improved my 780 for the Q9550 and installed the RADIATOR SHROUD J9761 D9729 when I put in the new processor.  When I do just normal commercial use of the computer, the 4 cores (reported by SpeedFan) run between 28-35 ° C, and when the machine is under heavy load with PlayOn transcoding/streaming, time edge up to 48 - 52C.

Was able to buy a NEW heatsink of heat/fairing with unused thermal compound patch $ 15 worth of Red Planet trading on eBay.  Quite happy with this configuration!

    What choices do I have?

    thanx

Through the Optiplex 780, the chassis has remained the same - that said, you're better off buying a new (or a more recent version) upgrade of the system.

You will find all the systems in the range of $200-300 - not much more that it will cost for a single pension + CPU + RAM.

  • OptiPlex 780 minitower won't Boot/POST 1.2 Diagnostic lights

I started to experience problems of power with my Optiplex 780 a few weeks after adding a second HDD.  The diagnostic LEDs are inconsistent at best, but generally the 1 and 2 light.  There, none of the expansion cards installed in the office.  I replaced the following with units well known to help solve the issue, the PSU (of work Dimension 8400) and battery CMOS (of Dimension 8400).  I also tried to exchange the memory modules.

Occasionally (rarely), it will start actually and I am led to a splash screen with boot options and the option of diagnostic test.  I tried to run diagnostics to determine the issue, but every time that the computer shuts off 10 seconds in the diagnostic test.  I only learned at this point maybe 3 times total. I'm usually pretty good to sort these things, but I'm completely lost at this point.  Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated.

  • New RAM PC3-8500 does not not in Optiplex 780 SFF

I just bought a pair of 4 GB sticks (F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL) for my Dell Optiplex 780 SFF.

The manual says it uses DD3-1066, up to 16 GB of 4 connectors.

During installation and when fired upwards, there is only a sound signal and the diagnostic Dell 1 & 3 lights that indicate: "memory modules are detected, but memory configuration or compatibility error has occurred"
I tried each module individually in each of the 4 slots (so 8 tries), then the pair 1-3 and 2-4 (more than 2 tests).  No joy.
When I go back to the original PC3-10600 memory (1 GB + 2 GB) everything works fine.
I'm on the last BIOS A15. Everyone sees why this RAM will not be happy about this MB...?

In fact, I managed to add 8 GB to stock / 3GB, so I'm humming 11FR now. The memory that has worked has been Crucial CT2367692. I had to return the other stuff NewEgg taking a shipping and restocking fees kick.

Lesson learned... I'm always going to Crucial now... obviously, you tell them what machine you have, they guarantee what will work the RAM.

  • question of ddr3 OptiPlex 780

    Hello world

I just bought an extra ram for my dell optiplex 780 (DT), which is the Dual Channel DDR3 Corsair Value Select, 2 x 2 GB PC3-10600, CASE 9

Once inserted, (tried it with permutation of the modules - just one and the banks swapping) no way to start, just a terrible sound of the ringing ^^

question: is this ram modules compatible with this computer?

BTW, I discovered that "it must be" according to the website of kingston (on which you select your computer and it says you which modules are for you ^^)

    Thank you!

    Claude

    Hi Claude,.

    Welcome to the Dell Community.

Your Dell Optiplex 780 supports DDR3 memory, but the memory speed, it supports is 1067 MHz (PC2-8500). The modules of memory that you have purchased speed of 1333 MHz memory, and unfortunately they are not compatible with your computer.

Please, contact the supplier for memory, replaced by 1067 MHz modules.

If you have any other questions, feel free to respond.

  • Install a second hard drive on Optiplex 780 Mini-Tower

I recently bought an Optiplex 780 minitower with Windows 7 DellRefurbished.com and I am happy with the machine. I would now like to add a second SATA hard drive that I bought, for which a power connector is available in the machine (the current hard drive is 250G and so is the other, I want to install.)

However, the two ports of SATA cable on the motherboard are used, one for the existing drive and one for the CD - DVD drive. I understand that there may be a separator for a SATA data cable (as there were once two connections on some slick IDE cables).

According to Belarc Advisor, the jury is Dell 0C27VV A03. Is it possible to install a second hard drive using a USB-to-SATA cable to the CD - DVD drive or the second hard drive? If so, set up a card with an internal USB connection USB PCI adapter? (I have more open slots). Or is there already a USB connection on the motherboard?

Any advice, including suggestions on the parts that I need to get, are appreciated. I see that I can buy a USB-to-SATA cable that has two USB connectors and two sets of pins of connection to the hard drive. I assume that one of the USB connections is for power to the player. I wouldn't need, because the connection of the power supply is already here and elsewhere I wonder if I can get two the casing with a PCI card USB connections. Is there a USB-to-SATA cable with only the connection of data on the disk?

The Manual explains the minitower 780 has 4 ports SATA motherboard and 2 interns, so you drive bays devriez have a place to plug in a second hard drive. (The desktop systems and small form factor 780 have 3 SATA ports). Unfortunately, the manual has a diagram of motherboard layout, so I don't know where the 2 other ports would be.

The motherboard is compatible SATA1a and SATA2. A SATA3 drive must be retro-compatible with a SATA2 motherboard, but won't work on SATA2 data transfer speed. So the price of a SATA2 drive vs a SATA3 drive and the potential future use could be considerations.

If you think that you will - eventually - upgrading to a new PC with a card mother SATA3, the new system would be able to handle the maximum speed of a SATA3 drive, but only works at speed SATA2 with a SATA2 drive.

You will need to buy a data cable SATA for your new hard drive, but it's only a little extra money...

If the manual is not correct (?) on the number of ports SATA on the motherboard, the system is supposed to have an on the rear panel eSATA port, so you can connect a player external eSATA HARD drive as an alternative.

  • Upgrade memory on an all in a single LX830

I may upgrade the 4 GB provided to meet the requirements of the program. Additional memory needs to be installed in pairs? The existing 4 GB occupies a dwelling, can I mount 8 GB in another location or it will be incompatible?

Well, mainly upgrade memory depends on the support of the chipset/CPU.

Not quite sure what computer Toshiba LX830 do you have exactly but as far as I know the L830 all in one units would support up to 16 GB of RAM.

A property used by a 4 GB RAM module and housing is free.
This is why it must be able to use another additional module of 8 GB RAM.

But of course, another module of 8 GB RAM should be compatible with the current 4 GB of RAM.
Otherwise, you will get some compatibility issues

  • Upgrade memory on NB300-108

Looking to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB on my NB300-108

Have you looked at the website of Toshiba and the cost, but there seems to be a plethora of alternative sites with upgrades memory compatible when I put in the part number.

    Hello

    The laptop supports DDR2 800 MHz SO-DIMM or PC2-5300 (DDR2 667 Mhz) modules.
These modules are provided by different companies.
There are good quality modules and less quality modules

Of course, you can choose and buy the cheapest, but in this case, you use the risk of compatibility problems.

I made good experiences with RAM from Kingston. These are of good quality and not too expensive modules

  • Upgrading memory on the NB550D - 11 d - 4 GB of RAM are possible

To anyone who thinks of a memory upgrade on the NB550D:

The NB550D supports up to 4 GB of memory, not only 2 GB as mentioned by Toshiba in their specifications.
Upgrade memory to 2 GB is _only limited_ by the pre installed Windows 7 Starter OS, and not by the netbook itself.

I use Linux Mint 11 Katya, 64-bit and my system works perfectly well with a 4 GB ram module. If you want to use the full support for 4 GB ram, get rid of the Win 7 Starter operating system.

Specifications for more memory ram volume are DDR3 1333 MHz PC3-10600 SO-Dimm. I chose a 4 GB of Corsair module, because of the guarantee of 30 years of offers from Corsair.

It took me a while to find this out hope, that this will be a help to all those who are just as secure as I was how to upgrade memory NB550D. Good luck. (o).

    Thanks for the comments

Also it of important to mention than the 32-bit systems (not serious if its Linux or Windows) would recognize only 3.2 GB since it is a limitation of 32-bit
So to use all of the 4 GB RAM 64-bit system is required.

  • Question about upgrading memory Satellite M55-S1001

can you please recommend what to do? I want to make my satellite m55-s1001 run faster please let me know, what do you recommend: 512 MB or 1 GB of memory? I'm not familiar with updates so please help!

    Hello

First of all, if you want to go for fastest laptop, you should start with simple things.
Try to defragment the disk, turn off the background process is not necessary, etc.
Upgrade memory will the powerful laptop and of course a lot more quickly.

To my knowledge the Satellite M55 should support the bars of memory 2 x 1024MB, and I also recommend the use of 1024MB instead of 512 MB module.
