Upgrade of RAM MacPro (end 2013)

I have a MacPro renovated (end of 2013), and I'll update the RAM.  If I 2x16GB of RAM, does it matter which of the four slots I put them in?  And, is there an advantage to get 4x8Go instead of 2x16GB?  My thought is that if I get two sticks of 16 GB, I can always add two more down the road if I think that I need.

Thank you

Ed

Yes, BUT:

To date, 16GB DIMMS for these Macs is registered DIMM (they have an extra buffer registry on their products so that they will not overload the memory Bus).

DIMM not Exchange and "friendly game with others. If you choose ANY DIMMs recorded, you will be forced to remove all DIMMS not saved to get everything working properly.

The United States, OWC/MacSales has a program where they will allow you to sell a limited number of your old DIMMS for a little money when you buy them new.

http://eShop.MacSales.com/tech_center/support/rebates/memory.cfm

--------

The traditional way of installing DIMMs has been to put the largest DIMMS in slots more small number. This Mac Pro (end of 2013 dark cylinder) requires no pairs, gets a slight edge of pairs in adjacent locations (i.e., 1 and 2 or 3 & 4), but the differential gap is very, very small and should not influence what you buy.

    Hi people,

I had my macpro since mid-2014... at the beginning I had a few crashes, but they are little random.

I thought that updates might fix the problem... but they did not.

most of the time... It's my feeling... This happens only when I have Adobe Premiere running and im, listen to music at the same time. But sometimes, everything goes well for 1 or 2 weeks then it happens again.

The computer is in similar low/setting turned off the power immediately.

However, I keep my ram upgrade and handing the original of ram in it. I upgraded to 32 GB (4 x 8). It was easy to install to install the RAM, but now I'm trying to remove it, it is simply not possible with 4 banks filled. I am anyway not possible to enter her with my fingers to get it out. Any suggestions?

I want to upgrade the RAM for my MBP. In fact, I have 2 GB per slot and I want to move to 8 GB per slot.

Yes: To ensure that the specifications are: 204 pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.

The best sources for RAM compatible Macs are OWC and Crucial.

  • MacBook Pro (15 inch, end 2013) with MacOS Sierra 10.12: kernel_task maxing out CPU with external display

I have a maxed out end 2013 the MacBook Pro Core i7 to 2.6 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

Also, I have a DELL P2415Q Display 24 inches (3840 x 2160) using Thunderbolt, are involved through the headphone jack and use a USB for lightning to recharge my iPhone.

I upgraded to macOS Sierra the day he is released and had no problems until this morning. I unplugged my external screen and speakers and used my laptop for about 15 minutes, the battery, and then returned to my office and plugged my Thunderbolt, rear speakers display in and my CPU shot at 100% and never came back down. My Mac is essentially useless because kernel_task is eating all my CPU and to prevent another asks to enter the CPU.

I have since audited equipment - everything was fine, reset the NVRAM and I tried to erase IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext .plist files but I couldn't on my Mac (trying to follow this guide, started in Safe Mode and everything then went to try and find the file and my Mac just does not have it). When my external screen is plugged if I'm doing anything CPU intensive (videophone, opening of Chrome, etc.) then my kernel_task gets mad again, and the only way to move is to unplug my screen. Connect my iPhone to charge the tips also my kernel_task as well. I followed my internal temperatures, and nothing was out of the ordinary, to cold currently at about 140 °.

At this point, it seems that any time that puts something on the charging system and increase the temperature internal internal components of my Mac kernel_task maxes my CPU, which brings my Mac to its knees.

Any ideas how to fix? Is this just a major bug in 10.12?

    Hi, Trent L.

Try this - problems with macOS Sierra? This fix can help you.

He got rid of all my macOS strangeness of the Sierra.

  • Addition of DIY SSD for iMac end 2013 now out of warranty

    • 2.9 GHz i5
    • 8GBs of RAM
    • 1 TB HARD DRIVE

He is now out of warranty, so I think about adding an internal SSD flash drive. However, I did no workshop manual and have never looked inside. However, before making such a change, I would like to know if it is possible, how it will be difficult and if one SSD 2.5 "can be added or a PCIe SSD if there is a slot on the motherboard.

If you have useful information, I would greatly appreciate your passing along.

The end of 2013 21.5 "has only one SATA connector on the system board so your only choice is to replace the hard drive, cannot add a second internal drive. You can find several guides repair for your computer here https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel_21.5%22_EMC_2638

If you decide to open your iMac and replace the HD you can consider upgrading your ram 16 GB as yours is the last 21.5 "with ram slots even if they are not user extensible https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/1600DDR3S16P/

  • What happens with the Mac Pro (end 2013)?

    Hello!

I'm Marc Urtasun, Spain. I have a Pro Mac (end 2013) with 3, 5 GHz 6-Core and two AMD over-pants D500. I am an artist and a 3d animator and I always work with 3d, made, video... and I need a more powerful computer now, because on the 3d, Mac users are moving to Windows due to the advantage of the GPU with CUDA...

I would like to ask two things:

-are planning an update or something for Apple's Mac Pro?

-Can I update my Mac Pro 12 hearts? or update with a graphics card more powerful?

    Thank you

-All those here who know the future plans Apple could not reveal that, because of the NDA, they signed.

-Yes, you upgrade to the D700, but that requires to replace two wide boards that contain the GPU and other components. You will find the D700, as Apple does not sell to them.

-The CPU can be upgraded. See:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/MyOWC/upgrades.cfm?sort=pop & Model = 486 & type = Processor

However, some app can use more carrots 6-8. Almost none can use all 12 cores.  When one of your apps look at the CPU tab in the activity monitor and see if you now use fully all 6 hearts.

You have not said how you memory. Memory can be limited. In addition, sometimes the disk i/o is limiting what drive you have and how ae connected

  • Satellite P10 804 will not accept the upgrade of RAM

Apologies, this is it is a bit long and also if this question has been covered elsewhere here: I had a good nose autour and have not found something that seems to help.

In any case, I had a Satellite P10 804 during these past years, I bought in the United Kingdom.

Quite early in my time with this laptop, I upgraded the RAM. It was 3 or 4 years ago, when memory was not as cheap right now, so I bought just a single 1 GB module. P10-804 will take up to 2 GB of RAM.

The P10 804 came with 512 GB as standard in two modules. My upgrade means I got 1.25 GB, which was in very good health. Everything was fine until the end of last year when the defective laptop; I followed the fault in module 1 GB of RAM. It was a bit awkward since I now live in New Zealand. However, the provider of the RAM was very professional, stood by their warranty, and we arranged a swap. RAM prices had fallen, so I bought another module of 1 GB at the same time upgrade the laptop completely.

Now the problems really started. The laptop would not simply work with the new installed RAM modules. It would work with one alone, nor even less with my old configuration of a module of 1 GB and 256 GB module. Start and run for five minutes before a freeze; white screen with fans roar; blue screen; frozen screen normal with strange objects; No start at all. everything.

Everything that works now is my original 256 MB module (his partner disappeared). This leads me to assume that I don't have some sort of hardware failure?

1 GB modules are DDR333 SODIMM, CL2.5. This laptop will also have the DDR266 modules, and it has been suggested to me, lower speed might work. I can try this option since the RAM prices are * really * low now, especially if I get confirmation of this as a valid strategy possible.

The laptop BIOS is updated to v2.00 (maybe?), and I also upgraded the HDD to a 120 GB unit (this works very well and is partitioned for XP and Linux). And from time to time I empty the fan.

Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading.

    > The laptop would not simply work with the new installed RAM modules. It would work with one alone, nor even less with my old configuration of a module of 1 GB and 256 GB module. Reading your message, I came to the conclusion that this issue must be linked to the new RAM module and this module is malfunctioning or is not fully compatible with your laptop.

The P10 can be upgraded to 2 GB, so you should be able to use two single RAM 1 GB modules

So it must be a module problem

  • Satellite M70 needing an upgrade of RAM?

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite M70 who suffers.
It's all slow and despite my music collection among other major programs to transfer on a drive external HARD, my laptop frequently slows down and blocks much to my annoyance.

I regularly have a frag my HD on a base twice a week which helps a little, and I delete the temporary files, the Recycle Bin as well at the end of each month, but nothing seems to speed it up significantly. I run Spyware Doctor, but he does not reveal anything that would explain such a slow performance.

Could someone advise me what to do?
I asked for advice in this regard other suggestions is considering upgrading the RAM in an attempt to speed it up.

    Kind regards

    WMorgan86

    Hello

In your case I would check and start the MSCONFIG and would disable some background process is not necessary in the Start button.

The upgrade of RAM would be useful too.
The M70 would support max 2 GB of RAM and you need DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM modules!

Instruction how to upgrade the RAM you will find in the user manual!

    Good bye

When these occur usually, audio on my system continues (if listening to iTunes or in a video game, the audio keeps going) but there is no response from the mouse or the movement on the screen at all. key board does not respond and mouse is frozen. The last time I had it's happen I had a panic the kernel to reboot (see below for the report)

I tried everything I can think of. I've scoured the forums on the internet for help and support. Im not sure if this is hardware or software related. I tried to unplug all of my devices - I have several hard drives USB and Thunderbolt. I have a second monitor connected via the bolt of lightning as well. This could be a video card problem?

I have used the EtreCheck software and have gotten several things that make me wonder if it's the software however, it seems that somewhere I still have pieces of teamviewer lingering around, even if I had uninstalled the software and I can't find anything in the spotlight for her. Here is an excerpt of my report...

Some things I noticed - I had questions on shut down the system. My computer completely sometimes turns. I have to force quit the finder or the dock still will remain open and prevent the closing down. If this happens, then I need hard closed by pushing the power button until the device turns off. My system is INCREDIBLY slow sometimes since the upgrade as well at el capitan.

I had a few problems with the big Adobe applications as well - sometimes illustrator or photoshop does any open or apps say they are open in the dock and in the force to quit smoking, but do not show in the activity monitor. In this case I have to restart my system for most work. force quit does not help them.

Sorry for the long post, but I have worked on Macs since OS7 and even worked in an apple store genius bar for awhile so I generally know what I can do to fix these but I can't get it probably remain fixed. I thought better to have as much information as possible. My next step is to reload the entire OS, but I have a lot of work here that I'm afraid to lose (even though I have several back ups via time machine and other copies on external drives)

Any help and advice would be most appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • upgrade of RAM (or swap?)

Three MacBook to upgrade several Rams (or swap) - all of our children, who have dumped their old MacBook for us and we poor parents just want to make use of the best of them as servers at home. Just need to run it by you to ensure that what I learned from reading internet messages is valid! Thank you very much.

    #1) MacBook Pro 13 ", mid-2000, MacBookPro7, 1 4 GB Core 2 Duo - 2.4 GHz, El Capitan
    (#2) MacBook - 13 ", MacBook3, 1 2 GB Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, OSx10.5.8
    (#3) MacBook - 13 ", MacBook1, 1 512 Mo Core Duo 1.83 GHz, OSx10.4.11

Even if change the boot disks can also improve performance, I'm not considering it now, because I don't know how to do it again. Evolution of the chipsets are easier for me.

    Issues related to the:

    (A) does make sense to buy a set of 8 GB of RAM (2 X 4 GB) for #1, giving #2 the old RAM (2 X 2 GB) of #1, giving #3 the old RAM (2 X 1 GB) of #2?  You want to make the best use of seriousness.

    (B) is it true that the Max RAM for #1 is 8 GB (some said 16 GB but I doubt because it is not model 2011, it is 2000 years)

Max RAM for #2 is 6 GB (some have said that Apple only supports up to 4 GB, but 6 GB actually works, not sure?)

Max RAM for #3 is 2 GB (this can be a loss of upgrade because there only the Core Duo chip. The best he can do is a Snow Leopard operating system, then what?)

    (C) my goal is to maximize the use (of course to reduce to a minimum the $ if I could), meaning better OS in the hope that, without changing the discs, we have faster computers the usual MS office and use a server running (Audio, network, video streaming for the record).

    D) #3 can be recessed in the company upgrade because I fear it was born to be small, cannot hope to become Kobe Bryant, even if I give him 16 GB of ram. Thank you very much...

    A. buy 8 GB for the Macbook Pro. The memory of the MBP is not compatible with the old MacBook. The 2 GB of #2 will work on #3.

    All real B...

    C. the MBP can run the last what OS X, Macbook 2007 can only run up to 10.7.5 Lion and the older Macbook can only run up to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

Buy your Mac as OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/ specialist trust ram and avoid the bargain brands or you could very well end up with three very unstable Macs.

  • My mac pro end 2013 connecto to 3rd monitor used

I just got a couple of monitors Samsung 4 K and I connected to my Mac Pro model 2013 end that has two graphics cards AMD over-pants D700. I also want to plug a 4 K TV to my installation in order to show the greatest screen previews for customers. I've separated the connections of each monitor in the ports of different buses, as shown in the Apple Web site. Both screens are connected via thunderbolt and the TV is connected via HDMI. The problem is when I plug the TV one of the monitors completely loses the signal. I tried to swap the connections of ports between the two monitors and the TV but the result is the same, the computer will only send the signals of two of the three connected. I would be grateful someone knows how to fix this problem, thanks.

You said: "the two screens are connected via thunderbolt and the TV is connected via HDMI.".

You say you have two screens Thunderbolt?

If this isn't the case, which is entered on the monitors?

If this isn't the case, entered ui displayport/mini displayport may be both legacy connections (DVI or HDMI). For more than two, you need an adopter active.

  • Acer S277HK 4K - retina of Macbook Pro 13 "(model end 2013)

Hi Forum - I recently bought an Acer S277HK 4 K/60 Hz monitor and use as an external monitor with my Macbook Pro retina 13 "(modèle de fin 2013)."  I am connected using the "Cable issues Mini DisplayPort / Mini Displayport 4 K ready cable" to connect macbook to monitor.  So far, I cannot get the resolution of Acer to reach 4K / 60 Hz.   I did a lot of research on various forums and sites as possible and so far, everything I've seen leads me to believe that my MBP 13 '' end 2013 retina should support a 4K connection / 60 Hz, but so far, am not able to achieve this.  Someone has advice on how I can solve reach higher in the Acer external monitor resolution?  I've seen a few comments need to use 'switchrex' to adjust the settings, but no indication on this is extremely appreciated!  Thank you.

What is max resolution/frequency, you can get?

You should be able to get 4K@60 Hz with cable 1.2 DP/CDM? You have a cable 1.2?

A 4K cable does not mean it is 1.2 DP.

The monitor configuration screens has an option to support 1.2 DP? Some do it.
