Upgrade to Gigabit nic

HP Pavillion DV6 - I just upgraded to quantum Fios and said that I should update my pc with an adapter to end. Is there a specific model or type to the HP Pavillion DV6 that I should look for. Clueless on an installation. I see many of them online, but not sure that one to buy? Thank you!!

Hello:

I don't know what kind of crack on purpose is in your machine. I imagine a wired gigabit express card might work if it is compatible with what Express slot, you have in your machine.

I think your laptop already has a wireless n card and change it for a better is little near a nighmare. You can install the maps in the service manual for your model laptop and they must also have the HP references on them, or they do not work.

To make things even more complicated, sometimes, the part numbers are bad for wireless cards, most people want to move to.

Then HP delivered the wrong card or the card is good but the manual does not,.

I am looking for an upgrade of the NICs process, but did not find anything related.

So, I found a few virtual machines with Nic Flexible and want to switch to 3 VMXNET.

VM has the latest installed VMware tools.

VM has the virtual hardward to version 8

Operating system supported the 34 VMXNET adapter.

But the problem is that this VM is attached to the boot disk sound.

Has anyone completed this task.  If that made go you about it.

    Thank you

You can not pass the NETWORK card

Process should be the virtual computer power off, remove NIC add new (VMXNET3), one and power on the virtual machine

Take into account the chance that you will lose the IP settings on the virtual machine because of the change of nic - therefore document the IP settings before you start.

  • Satellite P870 - Atheros gigabit NIC cannot be set to 1 GB according to technical data sheets

I just got my P870/027 and the Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20) NIC connect controller only review of 100 MB/s and not to 1 Gbps according to laptops.

The latest driver is installed and when I try to adjust the speed via the Device Manager it only shows 1 GB only 10 MB & 100 MB. I check the BIOS, but there is no configuration to set the speed of the network card.

Is there another way to set the speed, or does not have data sheets.

  • Is the low profile of Dell/Intel X 520 10 gigabit NIC compatible with PowerEdge R815?

Although not understood as such, can the Dell X 520 dual port 10 GB DA / SFP + adapter network (540-BBDW Dell P / N) used in one of the two discrete PCIe slots in a R815 Server?

This card is supported in the R420 and R430 etc but not the R815. For the R815, X 520 KR/XAUI card (Dell P/N 540-10903) seems to be the support of 10 GB adapter but it has connectors RJ45, not FPS +.

    Andy

Note that only cards certified by Dell are committed to work as expected. Here are a few cards full height taken supported on the R515, P/N RK375 & KJYD8. Check them out and find out if they meet your network needs.

  • Reviews for laboratory at home: Q9300, 8 GB DDR3, 1 TB SATA, 1 Gigabit NIC memory

Given this machine for $620 (delivered) by grazing web.  That would be enough for ESXi and vCenter Openfiler?  Seems that I should be able to get at least the majority of the running vSphere components.  It would be a complement to a better job laboratory machine lot.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark

    CPU is good enough: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33922

And is capable of VT - x (to run the x 64 guests).

If you motherboard a good chipset, maybe you can also test VMDirectPath (chech for compatible with VT - d chipset).

On the RAM, that could be enough to operate 2 ESXi, vCenter a small and small VMs system... but, if you can, give 10 or 12 GB.

A teddy bear unique is a limit, but you can work with it. Maybe look for a switch supporting at least VLAN.

  • Notice of server upgrade

I hope that someone out there with more knowledge of the inner workings of ESX will have some opinions on this topic.  Currently I have an ESX 3.5 Server (fully patched) which is an IBM eServer x 345.  Here's the specs: Intel Xeon 2 GHz processor w / hyperthreading, 8 GB of RAM, Gigabit NIC, iSCSI storage.  I have the opportunity to upgrade to a white box with (2) AMD 2.6Ghz dual-core Opteron Processor, 12 GB RAM, card Gigabit NETWORK and iSCSI storage.  Right now, I have five guest VM on the ESX host using MS basic Office applications as well as IE on a regular basis and a front end for a database application that can be processor intensive at times.  Given the power of the new box, can someone speculate as to potential performance gain, and if it would be worth the hassle?  Your comments are appreciated.

I have to say yes, in this case.  I have migrated many physical machines, let's say a 2.0 GHz processor to a virtual machine on a 3.0 GHz processor and have seen and have been informed of the apparent improved performance from a user perspective.

  • Question of gigabit Atheros AR8161

I have a PC HP Envy Phoenix 1340 t that comes with a Qualcomm Athereos AR8161 gigabit NIC I am running the latest driver for this NETWORK adapter which is version 2.1.0.13.  My problem is that I only connect to 100 MB instead of 1.0 gb to my router gigabit compatible.  I have another PC and it connects to 1.0 GB to the same router, so I know that the router is not the issue.  When I look developed for the NETWORK card under speed and duplex settings, I see only 10, 100, and auto.  I don't see the 1000 that should be there for a gigabit NETWORK card driver.  I check the other PC with gigabit cards and they show 1000.  So I think that I have a driver problem.  I think that all those who have the same NETWORK card I do must have the same problem.  I also checked the BIOS and found nothing on the configuration of the NETWORK card for the gigabit capacity.  If anyone has an overview of how I can solve my problem, I would appreciate it.

I finally found an article on the web that solved my problem.  This article

    http://superuser.com/questions/504197/gigabit-connection-between-2-computers

mentions that the passage of a cable CAT 5 cable CAT 5e solved their problem of gigabit connectivity.  Well to my surprise, it worked also for me.  Once, I went from a CAT 5 cable to a CAT 5 cable, my PC immediately renegotiated to 1 GB.  Hope this article will help others avoid the long struggle that I had to do this simple answer.  HP support made me go throught hoops but never gave me this simple answer.  Finally, I called them back and told them that this response must be better diseminated among their support staff.

  • Airport Extreme Gigabit Ethernet and Jumbo frames

    Hi all.

Can anyone support me kindly about Gigabit Ethernet & Jumbo Frames with Airport Express?

I currently have and use a 5th generation Airport Express and you want to buy the QNAP TS - 453 Pro NAS. In any implementation of storage NAS, Gigabit Ethernet, the frames extended as matching Ethernet card well, are all very important to achieve broadband performance, so my questions are:

    5th generation Airport Express

    • Are the NETWORK Gigabit NIC Ethernet card?
    • It also works with extended frames (QNAP NAS supports 4074, 9000 and 7418 bytes for MTU)?
    • QNAP can trunk NIC (if more then one) with the following options:
      • IEEE 802.3ad (dynamic link aggregation)
      • Balance-tlb (Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing)
      • Balance-alb (Adaptive Load Balancing)
      • others (mainly for failover)

Is 5th generation Airport Express enough or should I think about moving to the 6th generation?

    Thank you.

You mix up the terminology... Express and Extreme are totally different.

The title is correct... Extreme... your question text replaces by Express... they are only 10/100... and gen only 2 of them.

    Any airport extreme Gen2 - Gen6

    Use the Gigabit ports.

    Do not support jumbo frames

    Do not support pairing.

  • Wmb54g doesn't work after firmware upgrade?

I have a wmb54g wireless music bridge. I just upgraded my Gigabit Wireless-N router. (WRT310N) My bridge worked OK, so I've updated the firmware this morning. Since then, my network will not recognize the WMB54G. I have reset the unit several times and spent 2 hours chatting online with Linksys. It still does not.

I uninstalled the software bridge. I hung the bridge directly to my router, but still not my network will not see it.

I tried to access the bridge directly by 192.168.1.210, cannot do?

Update: bad news, cannot ping bridge when it is connected directly to the router. Linksys will send a replacement WMB.

    Hello

I doubt that it has nothing to do with subsequent changes, as the device is specced for only 150Mbps throughput.

I saw Cisco release any model replacement, even if I asked a few times.

I think that 2 GigabitEthernet interfaces refer to the internal-Data0 and Data1 internal interfaces

It is the output of my own ASA

The internal-Data0/0 interface ' ' is in place, line protocol is up

The material is y88acs06, BW 1000 Mbit/s, 10 DLY usec

    (Full-duplex), (1000 Mbps)

Internal-Data0/1 interface ' ' is in place, line protocol is up

The material is 88E6095, BW 1000 Mbit/s, 10 DLY usec

    (Full-duplex), (1000 Mbps)

Also, here is a picture of a Cisco Live! presentation on the architecture of the ASA5505 model (click to enlarge)

    Hope this helps

  • With the help of several NIC in Win 7 - different subnet

Can someone tell me the best way or the right way to configure two 2 Gigabit NIC in Windows 7 Ultimate?

Map NETWORK 1 is currently used to access the INET and my FreeNAS server via a 192.168.0.x subnet. I would like to set up a 2nd NETWORK card to maintain a "static route" between this box (Win 7) and box of FreeNAS (OPT 1 is configured as a secondary NIC on the side of FreeNAS already).

The static route will use the subnet 192.168.x.x with FreeNAS is 192.168.1.100 on the secondary card. The Win 7 box, I'm going to say... 192.168.1.3 for the static route NIC w / the same thing for GW and DNS.

Is it possible that way, as mentioned above, or what I need to dig a little deeper. The static route will allow me to exploit the full potential (at least I hope) between 2 machines with regard to flow by a X-Over cable. This way I can put both sides higher than regular LAN depending on the parameters.

I don't need to work, but rather a bit more than the flow of 20 MB/s when xfering large files recording studio. Yes... I know that FTP is not the best for xfering... I'm looking into SSH w/patch, SMB/CIFS or NFS

    Tim

Your plan should work fine.  Specify a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 on both network adapters to 192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x different subnets.

You do not need to specify GW and DNS on the secondary NETWORK, and you don't need to create a static route.

To access the box of FreeNAS on secondary NETWORK map, use his IP (192.168.1.100), and not its NetBIOS name.

  • Layer 2 switch decision and redundancy NIC teaming/switch

    Hello

Imagine that I need to provide a reliable network between two mainframe environment.

Basically, there is a NIC communication 'intra' between the two chassis. This 'share' NIC could be connected in a switched environment isolated too long which supports 1 GB. The idea is, instead of using a VLAN in our production environment existing to allow communication between the two chassis, people would use a small switch instead, totally isolated from the network to provide such a service of communication intra-NIC between the two chassis. My questions are:

    (a) agree you generally keeping a separate switch (maybe a new layer 2 2900 XL?) I could provide a more reliable environment than if I plug on new servers VLAN into my existing 3750 switch? Note that my switch 3750 in production is not a stackwise. It's just an autonomous one.

    (b) a small 2900XL switch (8 ports?) can do the 1000 MB? Also, I have recommended that we use copper instead of fiber for this.

    (c) in the past I heard people talk about problems with the grouping itself. I wonder if I just use a Gigabit NIC, copper, I either offer. Again, please let me know where the layer 2900 XL switches do not support gigabit.

Your intuition is very valuable. Thank you.

Yes, 2960 should suffice in this case your need. It has 24-port and 48-port port 10/100/1000 version as well.

  • Atheros ar8161 driver missing setting gigabit

I have a desktop PC of h9-1340 t HP Envy Phoenix that has a Qualcomm Atheros NIC AR8161.  I am running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.  There is a NETWORK adapter card compatible gigabit.  However, I get only a 100 mb connection to my router.  My router is capable gigabit and I've confirmed that if I connect to another PC with a gigabit NIC that the PC connects to 1.0 GB so I know that the issue is not with my router.  When I look into the speed and duplex settings for the NETWORK card, I don't see1000 not in option.  I only see 10, 100 and auto.  So I think that the problem is with the driver.  The driver is published by Microsoft, and I have the latest version which is 2.1.0.7.  Does anyone know why Microsoft has released this driver with no gigabit capacity when the NIC card?  Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Well, my experience with the HP support was extremely frustrating over the last month.  They never solved my problem.  However I got lucky that I finally found this article on the web

    http://superuser.com/questions/504197/gigabit-connection-between-2-computers

and of course the solution in article worked for me as well.  When I went with CAT5 cable to CAT5e cables, then I got my gigabit connections.  I wish this information was easy to find on the internet and have saved me a lot of headaches.  In any case, I hope that this post will help others and save them the hassle that I had to spend thinking about this problem.
