Question of gigabit Atheros AR8161

I have a PC HP Envy Phoenix 1340 t that comes with a Qualcomm Athereos AR8161 gigabit NIC I am running the latest driver for this NETWORK adapter which is version 2.1.0.13.  My problem is that I only connect to 100 MB instead of 1.0 gb to my router gigabit compatible.  I have another PC and it connects to 1.0 GB to the same router, so I know that the router is not the issue.  When I look developed for the NETWORK card under speed and duplex settings, I see only 10, 100, and auto.  I don't see the 1000 that should be there for a gigabit NETWORK card driver.  I check the other PC with gigabit cards and they show 1000.  So I think that I have a driver problem.  I think that all those who have the same NETWORK card I do must have the same problem.  I also checked the BIOS and found nothing on the configuration of the NETWORK card for the gigabit capacity.  If anyone has an overview of how I can solve my problem, I would appreciate it.

I finally found an article on the web that solved my problem.  This article

http://superuser.com/questions/504197/gigabit-connection-between-2-computers

mentions that the passage of a cable CAT 5 cable CAT 5e solved their problem of gigabit connectivity.  Well to my surprise, it worked also for me.  Once, I went from a CAT 5 cable to a CAT 5 cable, my PC immediately renegotiated to 1 GB.  Hope this article will help others avoid the long struggle that I had to do this simple answer.  HP support made me go throught hoops but never gave me this simple answer.  Finally, I called them back and told them that this response must be better diseminated among their support staff.

I have a desktop PC of h9-1340 t HP Envy Phoenix that has a Qualcomm Atheros NIC AR8161.  I am running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.  There is a NETWORK adapter card compatible gigabit.  However, I get only a 100 mb connection to my router.  My router is capable gigabit and I've confirmed that if I connect to another PC with a gigabit NIC that the PC connects to 1.0 GB so I know that the issue is not with my router.  When I look into the speed and duplex settings for the NETWORK card, I don't see1000 not in option.  I only see 10, 100 and auto.  So I think that the problem is with the driver.  The driver is published by Microsoft, and I have the latest version which is 2.1.0.7.  Does anyone know why Microsoft has released this driver with no gigabit capacity when the NIC card?  Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Well, my experience with the HP support was extremely frustrating over the last month.  They never solved my problem.  However I got lucky that I finally found this article on the web

    http://superuser.com/questions/504197/gigabit-connection-between-2-computers

and of course the solution in article worked for me as well.  When I went with CAT5 cable to CAT5e cables, then I got my gigabit connections.  I wish this information was easy to find on the internet and have saved me a lot of headaches.  In any case, I hope that this post will help others and save them the hassle that I had to spend thinking about this problem.

  • Satellite P875-31 t - Atheros ar8161 driver missing setting gigabit

My laptop has a Qualcomm Atheros AR8161. I have Windows 8.1, x 64 installed. I've updated the Qualcomm driver with the latest 2.1.0.21.

In the description, Atheros AR8161 is a map compatible gigabit. However, I get only a 100 mb connection to my router. My router is gigabit capable (is recived form the provider). When I look into the speed and duplex settings, I don't see 1000 in option. I only see 10, 100 and auto.
I guess the problem is with the driver.

Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Have you checked the BIOS settings?
Try to set it by default and save the changes.

Also check out the options available in-LAN card-> properties > Device Manager
If the 1000 t will not appear here, I guess there is no other solution for this

  • Downgraded to Windows 7, need help with specific drivers

    Hi all!

I recently bought a HP P7 - 1439 PC with pre-installed Windows 8. A given operating system, a week or two to try to settle and found that I couldn't mesh with the new system, so I went down to Windows 7.

Now my question: I am aware that drivers are needed for the mother/USB Card controllers, and the motherboard itself has been designed for Windows 8.

I need the drivers following according to Device Manager (because it is marked with a yellow exclaimation mark):

BCM20702A0 (No idea what it is)

Controller (I think I installed an Ethernet driver, seems it was not what it was) network

    SM Bus controller

    Bus USB controllers (x 2)

I think that by finding that the motherboard drivers would solve many of these issues. However, research of their drivers MSI which corresponds to the motherboard (Jasmine, MSI MS-7778) had no result. Can someone point me right or comparable drivers for it?

    Information:

    Product number: H3L17AA #ABA

  • Slow down the internet using Toshiba LX830-107 running Win7

    HY

I have a problem of speed limit on my Toshiba LX830-107 all-in-one with Win7 Pro 32-bit. Web from Toshiba support site, I can't find a driver for Win7 Pro 32 bit lan. I installed the driver lan for 32-bit Win8 without error, but with this speed to 9 mb instead of 94 MB limit as it is on other computers on the network. Also, I noticed that my network card does not work as a gigabit card as it is. How can I solve this problem? because I need to use Win7 32-bit due to a compatibility problem with some applications installed on my device.

    Kind regards

According to the specifications of computer map, the device supports the Atheros (Atheros AR8161/8162) LAN card 1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T

As far as I know, you can change some options LAN in the BIOS.
Check if you can switch between 1000/100/10

You can also check the properties of the LAN (the - LAN card - Manager device properties) card
Here you will find further options in the "Advanced" tab

    Hello

It seems that the device is not at all.
On some models, it is possible to disable the webcam in the BIOS.
Maybe you should look here first?

F2 at the STATION (when Toshiba logo appears just after switching on).
    Probably under the section Advanced.

    Hi all

The PC detects my wifi signal (it seems to be the most), I click on it to connect and then I fall directly on the 2 bars of reception! of course my wifi settings and keys are configured correctly...
The PC is new, dating back to June 2014.

Thank you in advance for your help, regards

The weak WiFi signal could be related to parameters that are in energy saving Windows power management.

It of possible to change the power to save the settings for different portable devices and generally depends on the use of the laptop. In case you use the battery mode, you can change the setting to increase the battery working time. But generally, this affects the performance of the device.

Here's a nice technical document how to manage these settings (it of currently for Win 7 but very similar to Win 8 or 8.1 Win)
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD12017W0001R01.htm

I recommend you to choose the most efficient setting of PCI Express wireless adapter settings
By the way: in many cases its helpful to change the configuration of the WLan router. Try to use different channels (1-11) and different encryption (WPA / WPA2 TKIP AES)

    Network (sp57673, sp60773, sp62162, sp62236, sp64690, sp65426)

The motherboard uses this computer is called IPMMB-FM, which is supposed to be made by Atheros, but the driver listed on the HP site does not work. (SP57673)

When I look closely on the Ethernet thingy on the motherboard connector it says Foxconn. I've been there, trying to find the driver, I've been to the Atheros website (Qualcomm) and I couldn't find the driver it no more.

Simply, I can't find the solution for this and I spent a lot of time trying to understand this now.

Before ask you, yes - I tested the cable with another computer. (Even if switch on the LED on the back of the PC)

And no, it is not wireless although he suggested that most of the drivers available.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello:

So much for the accuracy of the quickspecs...

It's an Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

This driver should work... I see the ID of the material for the specific ethernet controller in the driver installation information file...

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=CP-106402-1 & CC = US & DLC = in & LC = on & os = 4063 & Product = 5251102 & sw_lang =

    % ATHR. L1F % = L1F.ndi, PCI\VEN_1969 & DEV_1091 & SUBSYS_2AD5103C & REV_00; Pegatron

The PC model that I got this driver has the same motherboard IPMMB-FM (Formosa) than the Elite 7500, so I'll be very surprised if this does not work.

  • Wireless network card driver problem

    Hello Lenovo forums,.

IAM having a problem to update my adapter wireless on my Lenovo Ideapad y500. I was able to download the right one. CAB file but when I use the Device Manager to manually point to this driver, it says that it cannot find. Windows uses 8. I don't know what information you need more to help me.

The driver on the page of the driver on this site wont solve the problem.

IAM not sure how much information you need to help me, I will post more when asked.

    Thanks in advance,

You need to download a different file. See the image with the driver wifi Atheros for win 7 and win 8 below. They are all the exe files. The photo in your first post is to the ethernet adapter not the wireless adapter

  • Download speed very slow on the wired Ethernet connection

I am currently getting 200 Mbps down and 0.3 MB/s on my desk wired Ethernet connection. I should get 200 down and 20 upwards.

    • On my wireless adapter on the same router, I have ~ 18 Mbit/s to the top and about 15 Mbit/s down, which seems that the wireless adapter works fine.
    • I plugged in another computer with the same cable on the same router port and got the full speed (200/20), then the problem lies within my computer.
    • I made a transfer of files to and from my computer to another computer connected to the same router and I got the full speed Gigabit times come and go.

I searched high and wide on the internet and forums, and that many people have had the same problem I have, nothing of the multitude of solutions worked for me.

That's what I tried without success:

    • Uninstalled the Ethernet card, deleted the drivers, forcing the new drivers to install again. No change of speed.
    • Carefully checked for Virus and malware programs (crossed the registry as well), but found nothing, and nothing has been installed recently other than windows updates.
    • The only antivirus I have is Windows Defender. I turned off and turned off the Windows Firewall, but speed did not improve.
    • I tried with IE, Chrome and Firefox, speed with different services and all tests show similar speeds. I also used FTP to a server I have, and the speeds were the same.
    • There is no other traffic devours bandwidth.

So what I have gathered so far, it's that my Ethernet card works very slow only when downloading from the internet. Within my network, it works fine.

What is a service that does not work well? If so who? I am not knowledgeable on the use of all services. I checked IPv4 and IPv6 and they both seem to be configured correctly, but I can't say that I am certain of what "correctly configured" is.

    These are my specs:

    HP Desktop H9 - 1215t

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    32 GB OF RAM

    64 bit

    Chip Intel i7-3770

Controller Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20)

I would really appreciate some help here because this problem I'm paralyzed.

    Thank you for your time,

    Tom

    By George, you got it!

For someone who thinks he's good at Googling, I could sure use some improvements!

The key has been the link to explanation. While I had been close to my tests, this for shows that even when you sort-of-one little-peut-be-think you know what you're doing to keep your legs unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

The answer was definitely Large Send Offload, but it was a little more complicated, at least to understand what really happened. Neutralization of him gave the tour, but now I work with an active v2 and it works like a charm.

I will detail what, in my opinion, happened here for those who may have similar problems so that they (you) may be able to figure out, as all cards are different and may require slightly different settings.

I live in an area where so far the download speed over fast, I was able to get is 2 Mbps, on a good day, it's usually on average 1 ~ 1.5 Mbps. download speed is between 5 ~ 20 Mbit/s.

I do a lot of video work and I constantly have to download large files on my servers. I got the computer described above about 8 months ago, and my Age (2 years) one remained on my home network.

For a week or two, I was cursing my ISP because the internet was slower than usual and very glitch. I tested my speed and got 20 down and 0.2, repeatedly. So I went through the long and technology-challenged call representative to 'help' me, I was paying for 20/2. Only option was to wait a week for a technician to come out of my house, he stressed have shot my injurybut not before you ask me, that there are faster speeds to internet available in my place. 200/20 which is 10 times what I had, so of course I went with her. In doing so the representative asked me to Exchange my modem/router for a new handle faster speeds.

When I replaced the modem/router, I found that the download speed went from 50/0.2 (after the new request speed but still with the old router) to 200/0.3~0.5 with the new router. I also had a Cisco E2000 router that I turned into a switch, which was also bogged down internet high speed (now that they have been much faster). But still the download speed has not really improved.

This long and winding history is so that you (read this with a similar problem) might find the answer to your particular problem.

Looking back when I said that the issue was in my computer because that became high speed was not quite accurate. The 'problem' was beyond my router, if the solution was in my settings with the LSO parameter. The 'problem' was not really a problem since what I see (guess) that's happened is that my ISP has been updated with equipment, and the settings on my new pc has become a problem while paradoxically not so in my old pc.

My old pc equipped with a "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and the IPv4 LSO parameter turned on, that she was no problem under the new set of circumstances ISP. 200 / 20 Mbit/s.

Then when I compared the setting on my new computer, it never crossed my mind that the neutralization of him would solve the problem.

My new pc has a Atheros AR8161/8165 controller PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20). This adapter has a setting "IPv4 LSO" more setting "IPv4 LSO v2" and "IPv6 LSO v2" décor. I don't think that my ISP uses IPv6.

In my quest to solve the problem, I placed all of the above settings to "Enabled", without success and in my fog don't reverse these settings.

With the 3 off, it worked fine, but I got a 5 ~ 10% improvement on the download speed with the LSO IPv4 v2 enabled and the other disabled.

There is no way representing the service provider on the phone could know this, so calling them would not / has not solved the problem. Even waiting a week for the technician most likely would not have solved the problem as it would be measured using a laptop full download and the download speeds.

I'm sure this will become a problem most current internet speeds that House are starting to soar (thanks Google!), so I hope this helps those who have similar problems.

    To summarize:

Click on start->Control Panel->Device Manager->network adapters-> your adapter name (mine is Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI - E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20), right click and select Properties. On the advance tab, find good Large Send Offload (IPv4) and change its value to disabled , and then click on OK.

If you have a Large Send Offload (IPv4) v2 try to set that to enable (with either a handicapped of course).

    I hope this helps!

    And thank you George.

    Tom

  • Network card does not properly

I just bought a Windows 7 HP Pavilion HPE with an Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. When I restart the computer, the network adapter does not work, I check the driver updates and they indicate that the driver of the card has the updated version. What should I do next?
