Upgrade Vista home to something that works on a domain

We are a Catholic school that nuns who live on campus.  Several of the nuns have laptops with vista home, who doesn't have the ability to join our domain.  In the past when this happened with XP HOME, would make us us their updated to XP Pro.  However, it seems that we cannot improve Vista Home to Vista Pro.  It also seems that we cannot upgrade Vista Home to Windows 7 Pro.  So that can upgrade us Vista Home to to be able to join the laptops to the domain?

Vista Home can be upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate, there is no way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro

  • Given upgrade Vista Home Basic to Home Premium 7

Hello world! had a doubt: I plan to upgrade my Vista Home Basic to Home Premium 7, but I don't know if my computer will work as smooth as Vista. My system has achieved:

    • 2 GB OF RAM
    • NVidia GeForce 9500 GT (it will work very well. I think)
    • 250 GB HARD drive (well, it's like 230 GB)
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.8 GHz per CPU
    • Everything except Office 2010 (Beta) and games very sophisticated (not Internet because I don't want to get viruses)

My big problem is the games. I like to play great games like Assassin's Creed and Crysis, which move more great on Vista. I don't know if they will work as good as sound in Windows 7. Also, I would like to know the reqs. recommended for this system. Please answer!

Depends entirely on what games they are. It is likely that some will be

  • Upgrade Vista Home Premium to Ultimate - Windows complete PC Backup and Restore

    Dear Madam, dear Sir

Upgraded my laptop HP DV7 Vista Home Premium to Ultimate, mainly to use Windows complete PC Backup and Restore.

The restore time and unfortunately no option in the boot menu at startup to restore system from images. No menu advanced etc. I guess starting always remains at the level of the premium and does not provide "Windows complete PC Backup and Restore" restore options.

Grants menu of system restore points, with only the last good restore point and no option to select point of previous restoration or system image to restore from.

    Mmmm nice ideas...

    Thanks in advance

    Good day

    Kent

    Hello

Complete PC Backup is designed for the reinstallation of the operating system that you have backed up.

You access it to start from a Vista DVD.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-complete-PC-Restore/

To restore a full backup of the computer, you must proceed within the Windows recovery environment. To access the Windows recovery environment, you will need to insert your Vista DVD in the DVD drive on your computer and turn on your computer.

    See you soon.

  • Upgrade Vista, home premium to Ultimate 64

I'm currently running Vista Home Premium 64, service Pack2.  I received an upgrade DVD from Microsoft, but it is for Ultimate 64, service pack 1.  When I try to install the upgrade, it indicates that the choice of upgrade is disabled.  Do I need to uninstall service pack 2 before the upgrade?  If so, where can I get instructions on how to do it?

    Yes, you must uninstall it.

Here are the General Info for your problem, I wrote up some time for this:

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948537

"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"

If the OS installed Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 1 upgrade disk > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.

And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.

    See you soon.

  • Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I have a computer with an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit version installed. I bought Vista Ultimate Upgrade 64-bit and when I try to upgrade instead of clean install I not give me the option to upgrade. Instead, I can install a clean install and lose all programs, settings, I have on my system that has taken a lot of time.  Why the copy I bought directly from the microsoft.com site does not my upgrade, even if it is the version upgrade of Vista? I want to be able to do things such as distance to this computer and the Premium version does not allow me.

Thank you for all the advice and help.

Make sure that you do not have 64-bit installed.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"

If the OS installed Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 1 upgrade disk > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.

And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.

  • Best way to allow the new 64 bit Vista Home Premiun PC to work with the software and virtual private networks more elders with unsigned drivers?

I just bought a new HP PC with Intel E5300 without experiencing compatibility issues with several current VPN as well as blocking drivers not signed properly.  I heard of the Virtual PC as well as the ability to install Vista 32.  What is the simplest, lowest cost way to make this existing work of PC with VPN and unsigned drivers as soon as POSSIBLE with performance at least equivalent to a Pentium 4 2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM?

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/946765

Read the above info on drivers.

The driver signing Unsigned drivers can be used with 32-bit versions of Windows Vista. 64 bit versions of Windows Vista require that all device drivers be digitally signed by the developer.
