Upgrade Vista on Qosmio F30-111

Hello world

Thought IA´m, purchase a Qosmio F30-111.
It comes with XP but I want to upgrade to Vista. Everyone set to upgrade to Vista in this specific model without any problem? I already heard that upgrading to Vista in some Qosmio models is a pain...

Thank you very much help

Hello

The installation is easy, but don't forget to install the RAID driver first!
Without this driver, you will not be able to install the OS on the HARD drive!
But all the drivers are available on the Toshiba page.

The new facility is more appropriate to replace the upgrade from XP to Vista because not all XP utilities are compatible with the new Vista operating system!

Check it out.

Hello!

I have a Qosmio F30-111, originally with Windows MCE and all devices works fine, but I made an update of firmware BIOS to 3.40 (before was a version 1.x).

Later, I installed Windows Vista Ultimate and all devices has been recognized very well (with Toshiba Vista drivers), but the sound was not working!
The situation was:
-The sound device has been recognized;
-The MIC works (but I can't hear it);
-The speakers do not work!<- the="" real="">

Now I installed the recovery CD and I'm new to Windows MCE, but noise have the same problem... is recognized, but the speakers do not work.
I have no idea what to do... I don't know if it is possible to restore the firmware (I think that was the problem).

Don't forget: the audio device works, the works of Media Player, but I can't hear the sound (Yes, the volume is high and is not dumb)

Sorry for my bad English,
Thank you very much!

Hello Md2

You can hear the noise if you plug headphones into the audio?

If there is his helmet and then the audio device works well.

If not, then disconnect all devices external usb and start a clean installation of vista (not upgrade, but booting from the vista cd)

don't forget to put the RAID driver on cd or diskette or usb flash key before doing the clean install of vista.

• Need systemboard Qosmio F30-111

Hello

I need a new systemboard for a Qosmio F30-111? (PQF30E-00Z00QDU). The video card is faulty. I live in the Netherlands and it is impossible to find a new systemboard. Can someone help me find one or more companies that can fix it like they do in the United Kingdom. In the United Kingdom, you have a company that can fix without replacing the motherboard (http://www.laptoprepair1.co.uk/laptop-vga-video-repair.html), but they only repair it for the citizens of the United Kingdom only.

Thanks in advance,
Charles

Hmm, motherboards are designed specifically for the single computer series laptop and if you want to buy a motherboard for your Toshiba laptop you will need to contact the ASP in your country.
Guys should be able to order it directly from Toshiba.

However, you can view some websites like Ebay for a flea market.

• Upgrading RAM on Qosmio F30-140

Hello world
My Qosmio F30 - 140 maximum expansion memory is 4 096 MB, but when I installed 4 GB (2 X 2 GB Transcend SODIMM 667 MHz) RAM, the operating system can it recognized as only 3.25 GB. The Bios still shows that I have 4 096 MB of RAM.
So why Windows cannot show the size of RAM?

Hello

4 GB of RAM support depends on not only the operating system.

To use the full 4 GB of RAM, BIOS, Chipset and the operating system must support the 4 GB.
If one of the parts mentioned would not provide the capacity of 4 GB, then you would not be able to use it.

Good bye

• Upgrade Vista on Qosmio 30

Hello

I just received my upgrade to Vista, after a wait of several weeks, just to know that on the DVD of self-training Toshiba that there are no drivers or updated BIOS for a Qosmio G30 - 175 (PQG30), there are the readers and the bios on the DVD for the Qosmio G30-PQG32 models.

Can someone tell me if the installation of the driver for PQG32 will work on my computer?

Thank you

N° !!! Do not update the Qosmio G30 PQG30 BIOS with BIOS specially designed for the G30 PQG32!
Bad BIOS or bad update procedure may damage the ROM module or the motherboard.

PQG30 G30 drivers and tools are placed on the page of the Toshiba driver and BIOS seems to be OS independent. It should therefore work with Vista!

• Installation of Vista on Qosmio F30 - 112-> BIOS is not compatible

Salvation;

I am trying to install Windows Vista, but it is said that "Windows cannot be installed on this computer with the current version of the system BIOS.
Contact your computer manufacturer for a BIOS update, install the update and then restart Windows installation".

But only 1.30 BIOS Version is available and my laptop already has this version of BIOS.
So, how can I install Vista on my computer.

Hello Zafer

I checked the Toshiba download page and, unfortunately, update BIOS for F30 is not available at this time but I hope it will be here very soon.

From time to time check http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ to see if your laptop model is listed.

• Connection S/PDIF on Qosmio F30-111

Hello, I need some information on the use of the digital audio output on qosmio.

It seems to have a 3.5 s/pdif out Jack (shared with headphones).

There are 2 audio cables type digital: toslink optical and coaxial 75 Ohm RCA.

Is possible to use a coaxial cable with a 3, 5 mm jack to RCA converter?
Or the only way is to use a cable with 3.5 jack converter toslink optical?

It's RCA-> Jack 3, 5mm Converter: http://aka.fotovista.com/dev/3/3/46000533/g_46000533.jpg
It's cable Toslink, Jack 3, 5mm converter and more: http://aka.fotovista.com/dev/7/5/46000157/g_46000157.jpg

I'm not an audio specification, but I found some interesting info:

(1) coaxial RCA is the most popular Digital Audio connection. Cables and connectors have an impedance of 75 Ohm and used to connect DVD players, CD and some DAT recorders to multi-channel surround sound (Dolby Digital, DTS, etc) equipment. RCA is often replaced by BNC connections on certain high end equipment.
(2) Toslink is a coaxial digital audio connection fiber optical version and is used in the same applications as the coaxial. Most of the newer devices has a connection to toslink cables. In applications where the source or receiver has only coaxial connections the signal can be converted to Toslink using a decoder.

In my opinion if you want to use the SPDIF digital audio output, so you must use cable Audio optical Toslink/SPDIF.

• Qosmio F30-111 - graphics card problem

Hello

My laptop does not show any other resolution than the usual text resolutions (starting).
The laptop is almost useless with this problem.

The problem occurred when playing a computer game in the resolution of 1280 x 800 regular graph (for windows).
The screen went black, but has no power lost. I had to restart from power button / stop.

Windows XP (from toshiba) gives a blue screen after the splash screen during startup.
Also, I have Linux and Xorg reports a fatal error when starting driver NVIDIA, so I cannot use the computer in mode terminal linux, no X mode. But I can still use Linux mode of expression and access to all files.

When I start the screen also has a strange color mode. In text mode, many letters is brighter than others. This happens in installation mode and Terminal in Linux mode.

Other strange things things I noticed recently, that is the FAN makes noise more now due to the temperature higher CPU (2 to 3 weeks).
Sometimes reaching 100aº C (which has never happened before). In recent months, the laptop was still in the Office at home.

I bought the computer round of June 2007, is still under warranty (2 years in the Portugal), and I registered it on the toshiba site.
Currently, I live in Poland. Can I retrieve my warranty in Poland and try to solve the problem here? (I'm Portuguese).

Hello

Looks like the graphics card began to malfunction.
Therefore, you must contact the ASP as soon as possible.

I think that you can contact the ASP in Poland to help him, because all laptops are covered at least 1 year international limited warranty carry-in.
As the name says it of a international warranty and if the warranty is valid the ASP in Poland should be able to help.

I would like to get the update of the traditional BIOS as described in updating BIOS FAQ. I have not installed to update windows. (and I don't want to install it)

If anyone can provide it? version 3.90.

Thank you

Hello

As far as I know, Toshiba driver European page ONLY provides updates of BIOS based VICTORY.
The trad-BIOS updates are not available on the page of the driver. I think that the traditional BIOS update can be downloaded only by an ASP, so you the user and the password entry.

Try to contact the ASP in your country and maybe you could get this BIOS by technicians

I installed OS using DVD recovery successfully. It has been for a long time and if I remember well, you must change the RAID settings in the BIOS on page 3.

I think it should be 1-RAID-0. Check it please this document http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB6901K60006R01.htm

• Re: Qosmio F30 - 112 - special buttons do not work after Windows 7 upgrade

Hello world

I upgraded my Toshiba Qosmio F30-112 from XP to Windows 7, everything is ok. The only problem is with the buttons its does not work none of them (play, record, stop, pause, BRIGHTNESS-, BRIGHTNESS +, dolby, etc.)

I installed the value added for windows vista, nothing changed still having the same problem.

Hello

There's a PPV for Win 7!
Of course, you have to look at other portable series which were the VAP for Win 7 has been released.

Usually does not VAP for Win 7 depend on portable model so I think you could install VAP for Win 7 released for other series.

Good luck

Hello yahya

You can find the BIOS and all drivers Vista for Qosmio F30 here: -.

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=EU&LNG=5

BIOS version is 3.90 now and it will work on Vista

Also, you need to put the RAID on a USB Flash Memory driver and load the driver when you start to install vista, because vista will not recognize your HARD drive unless you do.

I suggest Vista Ultimate or home edition Premium, Becuae the Media Center and the remote control.

and if you face any problem after that then please let me know

• Qosmio F30-127 is unable to read the Vista upgrade disc

Hi guys,.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F30 (127) with the standard front load Mat * a DVD-RAM (model UJ-846) Player.

I have for months without any apparent problem burn a variety of CD DVD & (R/RW) and recently received my expected Vista Express Upgrade DVD which I assume adopts the format DVD RAM.

After the upgrade of the BIOS to v3.4, I successfully installed upgrading startup, but only one of the hard drives (RAID) which has been recognized in my windows session (with the recoil, I would simply have used administrative tools > computer management > disk management) ;-(

I reinstalled XP using the recovery disks provided original in preparation to retry the Vista upgrade a 2nd time to correct the alleged no recorded 2nd hard drive.

However, on the startup of XP, the Vista Upgrade DVD doesn't have to be recognized at startup (i) or (ii) in the case of a Windows session, without a visible change in the drive icon to indicate the usual recognition.

If I try to double click on the drive icon, I get the error message:

"D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.

I have read a number of threads of support which advises: (i) changing some registry keys, which seem to be unnecessary following a procedure of recovering costs of system; (ii) the transfer mode to DMA to PIO on the primary IDE channel in Manager devices, and (iii) the offending disk and IDE/ATAPI controllers Device Manager uninstall followed by a restart of switching. I tried (ii) & (iii) independently several times resulting in Windows Installer automatically the drivers for the hardware newly found followed by a final reboot, but the Enigma DVD persists.

I tried to install the latest drivers for the DVD RAM driver, including vF103 firmware update in the Toshiba download pages, but the status quo remains.

Ideas or current symptoms are swinging more and more towards the likely hardware malfunction?

Thanks for listening...

For me, it looks like a hardware problem, maybe the lens of the player is not clean or not can not calibrate correctly in the right position

But try first to remove the drive from Device Manager and restart the laptop.
The operating system should recognize what it again automatically. If you want to read from this CD, and then try again.

If she will not change the situation, then I presume that it s a failure of the equipment.
