Upgrade Windows 10 not install Via Windows Update

I'm going through my history of editing to make sure that I have everything installed (of whats required) to upgrade to Windows 10 seamlessly without any problem. However, the file to upgrade current (Windows 7 Ultimate) to Windows Pro 10 is not installed, it comes as a download upgrade FAILED. Error code: 80240020

I don't know if there is something interfering with the update but I desperately want the free update and it's just not let me update. I tried to restart, reinstall updates that appeared as failed (even those earlier) and even update all my drivers who have no influence on the operating system.

My features are Windows 7 Ultimate
NVIDIA GTX 670 Ti

8 GB Ram

and an i5 processor. (Do not remember precise)

Windows 10 icon in the tray below menu said: I'm more than surpassing the requirements for upgrading, so I'm more confused at this point. If anyone has any inside views, advice of any kind, let me know.

Windows 10 is being prepared for installation on your computer right now. He is not ready yet, so you can see some of the errors, ignore them. The download will be available running throughout tomorrow and you will be notified of its availability.

What happens when I book?

When you book, you can confirm that your device is compatible with Windows 10. Between booking and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the installation go faster. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you receive a notification that allows you to start using your upgrade.

Do not install the KB2686505 update

    Hello

    You receive an error message/code?

You did changes to the computer before the show?

As a work-around I suggest you refer to the following method.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot before proceeding with the update of windows.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, restore your computer to Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Reset the Windows Update components.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Method 4: Let us first start the SFC scan and check if there are any file system corruption. You need windows XP disk to perform the analysis.

1 put the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM.
    2. click on 'Quit' if the auto-menu appears.
    3. click on 'Start', then click on 'run '.
    4. Type "SFC/scannow" (without the quotes) in the "Open" box, then click on 'OK '.

Note: There is a space between "SFC" and "/ Scannow".

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

More information on SFC scan found in this document:

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

You can also manually install the update (numbers KB) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

About two weeks ago, I had a problem with my computer marketing and don't not loading Windows. He gave me the option to start Windows normally or repair of launch Windows. I tried to run normally and windows still only would be not loaded correctly, so the next time the computer is started, I launched the Windows repair instead.

So I plugged back it it and it began to automatically search for the driver (Driver Installation Program). It says install software device driver and he's looking for preconfigured driver folders. Of waiting for the user to input and gives me the choice: 1) locate and install driver software (recommended) (2) Ask me 3 again later.) Do not show this message for this device.  I choose option 1 and it gives a message, DEVICE DRIVER installation of MICROSOFT WINDOWS SOFTWARE and I support on continue. It gives the message: SEARCHING WINDOWS UPDATE, WINDOWS UPDATE DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING the DRIVER SOFTWARE. Then a message saying: Windows encountered a problem installing the software driver for your device. Windows found driver software for your device, but it has encountered an error trying to install it. He also says: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Now, I didn't know what was wrong, so I tried to ask for help with material assistance and Paretologic PC Health Advisor and they are quite a few outdated drivers and asked if I wanted that they find new updated drivers, I agree.  And he again... the SAME EXACT PROCESS I HAVE INDICATED above. It will not install the drivers again and it will not install updates for all drivers more.

The computer has XP Home. It is an older machine, 266 Celeron, 2 GB of Ram that I built a few years ago. It is part of a home network. It has not been updated for a while so I decided to install SP3, updates, IE 8, BackupNT off CD, FixIT and Partition & Format 2 more large players. It wouldn't install them or partition or format the disks again.  It is clear that I have no idea.  Mike

    Hello

What is your level of service current pack? Click right my computer, click Properties, on the general tab, he says.

If this isn't SP1A or SP2 you will not be able to install SP3. You will first need to install SP2.

How you try to install the SP3? Stand-alone package or Windows Update?

I must say that I'm not sure why you are unable to install, for example, NTBackup. As said by Harish B N, we need more information about the error you get.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor does not install

Hi I posted this on the Vista forum. I got 1 response suggesting I have try to download it again, as I did with the same result. The 2nd answer said not to post this question on the forum of Vista. If she is here now on this forum.

I downloaded the UpgradeAdvisor a Windows 7 at the same time a running Windows Vista my PC Edition Home Premium and the other Windows XP. It will not install on each PC. I double click on the downloaded file and am asked in Vista to continue, I click "Yes" and then nothing happens. There is no sign of any program running or running any process that did not work until I tried to install the Advisor. Please can someone help. (I tried to disable the system security McAfee but that did not help).

Well thank you for the suggestion of Steve of Microsoft Developer Network. I tried to download another copy to another location. Unfortunately exactly the same result. Yesterday I download about 5 times in different places, none worked, but I thought I'd try again today - same result. Am I the only person having this problem?

I followed the advice on another thread closely linked to it. Someone (non-Microsoft) advised using a program called "Winrar" to unzip the file to the millisecond. You can download free Winrar (shareware). I tried and it works very well. It unpacks the MS then called "self-extracting" file downloaded from MS site above and shows you the content. I selected the provedure of installation for the Upgrade Advisor for 32 bits, and low and you installed the Upgrade Advisor on my machine.

I ran with success of the counselor and am at a complete loss to understand why Microsoft technicians could not have told me in this simple direction rather than give me useless and very lengthy procedures which did not work.

The adviser tells me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or WIndows 7 MegaSuperCostULoads (or whatever its name). I'm not sure I want now, or if I trust Microsoft more. Maybe I'll switch to Ubuntu.

Let us make the below listed methods one by one and check if you are able to install these updates successfully.

    Method 1.
If your computer is experiencing problems find and install updates of the operating system, try using the troubleshooting Windows Update tool to solve the problem. He makes sure your computer is connected to the Internet and checks to see if your network card and Windows Update services are running properly.

For steps about how to run this utility, refer to the article below.
Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-Troubleshooter

How to reset the Windows Update components?
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Download and install the Windows Update Agent to manage updates for your computer.
Follow the link below to download and install Windows Update Agent:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949104

I have 2 computers were pre-installed with Vista Edition family content and Basic Service Pack 2. Due to a new system of distribution to come in I had to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.
