Upgrade Windows 7 Starter to professional on an Asus Netbook

I've upgraded Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Pro on my Asus Netbook. Seems to be going smoothly, but slow execution of programs and surf the web.  I guess that I expected an improvement. I went to Windows Update at any time, when he asked my key updated code it tells me that the code is not valid. (I really wish that it would allow you to cut and paste in the confirmation e-mail.)

Is that what I can do before calling customer support Monday? Is an increase in the speed an unrealistic expectation?
Thanks in advance.

Doug

Before the upgrade, Windows 7 Starter must be enabled.
  • NB550D - upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to professional

    Dear all,

I recently bought a Toshiba NB550D and must update the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Pro. I tried the (preinstalled) Anytime Upgrade Assistant level, but this does not work. I'm stuck in the wizard because - as he says - "you may need to change the language settings or locale to purchase Windows Anytime Upgrade online". I learned that in order to use anytime upgrade regional settings must be identical to those of the country where your billing address. For me, this country is Switzerland, everything must be in German.

The problem is, the installation of Windows 7 Starter still uses English as 'Display language' and this cannot be changed after installation. I tried to roll back the installation but there is no other possible choice, it is always English. All other regional and language settings can be changed.

    My questions:
-Are there a way to force the display of Windows 7 Starter language to German (whether before or after the initial installation)?
-Are there a way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, work around the problem, for example by using a different approach of the wizard at any time to upgrade?
D ' other suggestions that might help?

    Thank you
    GG

    Hey Buddy,

It depends of the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter. If Windows 7 Starter has been pre-installed in the English language only an upgrade to an English version of Windows 7 Professional is possible. So that you can t upgrading English to German for example, this is why you have to buy a new version of Windows 7.

So either you buy a new version of Windows 7 Professional in German, or you upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. The Ultimate version offers MUI (Multilingual User Interface).

  • Windows 7 Starter to Professional or Windows 8 Pro?

Hello. I have a series netbook Sony Vaio W (VPCW210AL) with a 1.67 GHz intel Atom CPU 450, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive on a Windows 7 Starter 32 bit OS. I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8. Is this possible? Will recommend you it? I use the netbook mainly for work while traveling. Starter does not satisfy me. Windows anytime upgrade does not work for me since I live in the Mexico. According to 8 Windows anytime upgrade, which I downloaded from Microsoft, I can install Windows 8 Pro, but there are three issues that concern me: 1) I won't be able to boot the machine in safe mode, if I had to (I've never had to). 2) there is a problem with Microsoft Security Essentials (I'm not terribly concerned about this). AND (3) there is a problem with my Bluetooth of WIDCOMM software, the wizard will not tell me what the problem is, he only directs me to the site. This last issue is one that concerns me. I like my netbook, I saw them running under Linux pretty well, but I want to stay with Windows for now. Should I get Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 a disc from a local store and install it without fear of the unknown that happens? I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you! -Jorge.  P.S.: so poorly set up an account to post this a question!

I personally recommend that you improve this Netbook to Windows 7 Professional instead of Windows 8, mainly for technical reasons.

    Netbooks aren't friendly Windows 8.

A new element of Windows 8 is the requirement that type metro applications have a minimum screen resolution 1024 x 768 and 1366 x 768 for the component feature snap-in. If you try to launch a Metro style app with less of this resolution (800 x 600, 1024 x 600), you will receive an error message.

Most Netbooks do not go above 1024 x 768

Will recommend you it? I use the netbook mainly for work while traveling. Starter does not satisfy me. Windows anytime upgrade does not work for me since I live in the Mexico.

I would recommend that you purchase a license of Windows 7 Professional upgrade and use the product key with Anytime Upgrade in Windows 7 Starter to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.

Where can I still get Windows 7?

    Version upgrade-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Professional upgrade

According to 8 Windows anytime upgrade, which I downloaded from Microsoft, I can install Windows 8 Pro, but there are three issues that concern me: 1) I won't be able to boot the machine in safe mode, if I had to (I've never had to).

Windows 8 can start safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 before Windows 8 load when you start your Netbook. You can also start it by pressing the Windows key + I > change PC settings > General

    2) there is a problem with Microsoft Security Essentials (I'm not terribly concerned about this).

Windows 8 comes with Windows Defender built in which is the successor to Security Essentials, as well as other security features such as Smart Screen Filter.

AND (3) there is a problem with my Bluetooth of WIDCOMM software, the wizard will not tell me what the problem is, he only directs me to the site.

If the driver is compatible with Windows 7, what you can do is to just reinstall the driver after completing Setup of Windows 8. It's just that sometimes the devices interfere with the Windows installation.

This last issue is one that concerns me. I like my netbook, I saw them running under Linux pretty well, but I want to stay with Windows for now. Should I get Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 a disc from a local store and install it without fear of the unknown that happens?

If I had the choice, I'd go with Windows 7 Professional, works better and will be supported until 2020.

I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you! -Jorge.  P.S.: so poorly set up an account to post this a question!

  • How Upgade Windows 7 Starter to professional using the CD without losing data?

My Samsung came with pre installed Windows 7 Starter. I bought the CD of Windows 7 Professional version. How to install this WITHOUT losing my existing data, WifI and Bluetooth settings? Thank you.

You can upgrade without using your installation disc using the Express upgrade with your product key. All programs and files will remain on the computer.

Upgrade Express using a key of already purchased the retail Pro/Ultimate

In Windows 7, type Anytime Upgrade in search programs and files box on the start menu, and then click the Windows Anytime Upgrade.  From there, you can enter your product key of Windows 7 Professional of the retail (full or upgrade) and perform a simple upgrade. Online Anytime Upgrade is not available in all countries. All programs and files will remain on the computer, there is no drive necessary and it takes about 10 minutes.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/Windows-Anytime-Upgrade

If you have a full key or upgrade of retail it will work with any time to upgrade. If you have an OEM key, academic key or Volume license key will not work with the Express upgrade.

  • Windows Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium

    It could not be upgraded.

I read the KB and found this upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows 7 is not allowed.

But not sure that this is the product key for Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit or 64-bit.  Can I know how to check?  There is no word such as x 64 or 64-bit key on the COA label.

What I am sure, is that Windows 7 Starter is SP1, while the Windows 7 Home Premium has no preloaded service pack.

The above information is sufficient for anyone to help out me?  What other ways can I try?  (I don't have DVD of Windows 7 Starter, the reason why I don't have the DVD Windows 7 Home Premium, is that the PC was purchased from HP that came without any Windows installation disk and the recovery disks that I created were easier to read by the optical drive).

Product keys are not specific architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), as long as you have corresponding to a key for the edition you want to install, you can use either 32-bit or 64-bit version of it.

What I am sure, is that Windows 7 Starter is SP1, while the Windows 7 Home Premium has no preloaded service pack.

Windows 7 Starter Edition is 32-bit only, so if you had to do an upgrade to Home Premium, it would lead to a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium only. If you need to migrate to a 64-bit version of Home Premium, you will need to invest in a license to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium retail that includes 64-bit disk.

If you have Windows 7 Starter installed, it is likely on a Netbook, running a 64-bit would probably be too much for such a system, I suggest you stick with 32 bit Windows 7 Home Premium if you need the features it offers.

Windows 7 64 bit comes in handy when you need to deal with at least 4 GB of RAM or more. Windows 7 32 bit can use up to 3.2 GB of RAM. Because the address space of memory is much larger for 64-bit Windows, this means that you need two times more memory than the 32-bit Windows to accomplish some of the same task, but you are able to do much more, you can have more apps open, do things like run a virus scan in the background it will affect the performance of your system. 64-bit Windows 7 is safer too, malicious code cannot easily infiltrate it, drivers are more reliable because they must be signed before it can work with 64 bit Windows 7.

Regarding compatibility, you need device drivers 64-bit hardware devices, you may have. In addition, there is no 16-bit subsystem in Windows 7 64-bit, which means, your applications must be 32-bit only, not 16-bit Installer or programs uninstall

  • Want to upgrade Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Student Edition, but should I wait for Windows 8?

I want to improve my windows 7 starter to windows 7 Student Edition kit, but I know that windows 8 will come out at the end of October. Should I wait to upgrade until there or should I buy just student Windows 7? If I update it soon with the release of Windows 8 would be entitled to a discount?

Update Microsoft Office Starter to Microsoft Office Home and Student will be all different running on Windows 7 or Windows 8, it will still work. So, I would upgrade now if you need the extra features and functionalility home and student offers.

  • Upgrade Windows Vista to a professional version?

I have windows vista premium and was told by my job that I need to upgrade to vista professional.  When I search professional vista, I can't find anything.  It is no longer used?  And what can I do to get my computer to be compatible with that professional vista would be offered?

    Hello

    Microsoft sells more vista

and it was called professional vista NOT vista professional

and the bad news is that vista home premium to vista Professional is / has never been a way to upgrade

It had to do with a full vista Enterprise license make a clean lose install all data and programs installed during the process

It is the same for windows 7

You can't go from vista home Premium to windows 7 Professional

Here are the paths to upgrade to windows 7

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579 (WS.10) .aspx

you will need to go from vista home premium to windows 7 Ultimate edition for the enterprise features, and it will also keep your data and programs intact

or you can try the store of the local computer to an old copy of vista ultimate upgrade if you want to save yourself the problem of recording data and resettlement programmes

  • The upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional on a Netbook

I recently bought a Dell Mini 1012 and I think to upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. I have the code key for Windows 7 Professional from MSDNAA or something like that. My question is, if I upgrade Windows 7 Starter to professional, I should install the new drivers for the netbook or those already installed for Starter would work with professional? I would use Windows Anytime Upgrade.

Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Starter share the same driver model because its the same code base, so you shouldn't have to get new drivers.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version upgrading or complete (MSDNAA License are), you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key to Windows 7 Professional on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained.

  • Upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate

If I upgrade Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate a CD/USB/HDD, is it possible to save all the programs/applications so that I do not need to re - install again?

You will not be able to do.

You must use the product key and to make an Express upgrade.

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.

  • People think the Windows 7 Starter

Think all of Windows 7 Starter edition which is preloaded on netbooks? Most of the people are the Home premium upgrade and if so how does perform on netbooks?

    Hello

In my opinion it s based on that what you do with your laptop. I mean you need to install many applications on other versions of Windows 7 too and if you only use the laptop for Internet and I think that Windows 7 Starter is sufficient.

In addition it s a good idea the different versions of Windows 7. So you can save money if you don't need all the features.

Upgrade Windows 10 starts automatically - and failed due to an unknown error C1900101-30018. Now he keeps repeating the process and do not and it seems impossible to prevent.
