  CS6 is the only upgrade that will be available.  The CC versions will be are kings here on out.  If you want to upgrade to CS6 you can buy it through the page linked below.  When you click on the button buy to InDesign, it will open a form where you can select the option upgrade (rather than the full option).

  but you can't upgrade to cs5.5.

  You can upgrade to cc or cs6 (money).

  It must have been the full version that I just talked to Adobe by LiveChat and they very kindly changed serial number to allow me to install the program. I think it has been called an upgrade as it was probably a bit cheaper to take into account the fact that we already have Pagemaker. Excellent customer service from them!

  I contacted customer service and they sent me here. An old 6.0,6.5 PageMaker 7.0 serial number request my Indesign CS5 upgrade. We have a computer at work that went down and I try to get all Indesigns back on it. We have CS3 - 6 on them and I kept the boxes for CS - CS6 just to upgraded versions that need back issues. This type of customer service told me that he cannot help me and I have to post here for resolution.

  The solution that worked, was telling the installation use Pagemaker 6 and effectively put the serial number for my copy of INDESIGN CS6. Shocked that it worked... but it worked... I hope this can help someone else down the line...

  You thought wrong. Suites can only be upgraded to suites. Read the fineprint and contact the sales support on product return policies.

  I just bought the InDesign CS5.5 upgrade to update myself since InDesign CS2 (both for the Mac market and Australian). Installation recognizes my new serial number, but not my previous CS2 serial number should I enter that I don't have InDesign CS2 installed anymore (and won't it won't work in classic mode).   Manish says. You probably have a wrong upgrade package or your previous serial number requires must be converted to another, work in series. This is sometimes necessary for the OEM versions or edu packages that have been purchased through promotions and have a range of not covered in the standard upgrades special serial numbers...

I have creative cloud and CS5 on my machine, but due to some of the things that I have to work that only work with CS5 to CS6 I have to keep my old software.   It really depends what you do with it, and a large part of the framework has changes in the operating system for how the application is designed to run in. Your workflow can cause problems when the application works for others or you might be able to use it, but keep in mind has more no support for CS5 Adobe or Apple, so do not expect to solve any problems that you can discover.

  If you purchased InDesign CS5.5 as an upgrade then it looks like it's showing that you need to provide information about the old version where you improved since he found nothing that qualifies.  You must only choose the old version and serial number.  (I don't know anything about InDesign, nor how it might relate to PageMaker).
