  • The upgrade from Windows 2000 Professional to Vista__

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and want to upgrade to Vista. According to Microsoft: If your computer is running Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional x 64, you are entitled to a copy upgrade from one edition of Windows Vista corresponding or better, but a clean install is required. How can I get this upgrade copy?

Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. • What are my options for upgrading to Windows 2000.

It of finally time to update my existing operating system, but do not have the time for a clean installation at the present time.  Can I switch to XP?

    Hi russman9785,

There are five methods for installing Windows XP. Consider the following methods, and then select the appropriate method for your installation.

    • Method 1: Perform a clean installation of Windows XP
Use this method for a clean installation of Windows XP. A new installation deletes all data from your hard disk by repartitioning and reformatting your hard disk and reinstall the operating system and programs empty (clean) hard disk.
    • Method 2: upgrade to Windows XP
Use this method if you upgrade to Windows XP from Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition or Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
    • Method 3: Install Windows XP on a new hard drive
Use this method to install Windows XP on a new hard drive. This is usually done when a new hard drive is installed on your computer.
    • Method 4: Install Windows XP to a new folder (parallel installation)
Use this method to install Windows XP to a new folder (parallel installation) to run two operating systems, or to access, repair, or retrieve data from a damaged disc.
    • Method 5: Perform a multiple boot operation
Use this method to install Windows XP as a separate operating system on your computer. This allows you to install several operating systems on your computer, then select the operating system you want to use every time that you start your computer.

  • the upgrade from Windows 2000 to XP

I have an old computer running Windows 2000. I'll be upgrading to Windows XP. Because Windows XP is longer supported by Microsoft that I have to buy a new XP license or can I just install a copy that I already buy and installed on another computer.

You can not install a copy that is already used.
And you can not buy a new copy/license because XP is no longer sold.

  • The upgrade from Windows 2000 to Vista

Yes, I'm trying to determine if I have to install windows vista after using Windows 2000 for the past eight years.  When XP came out I could see no reason to change because XP couldn't do anything more than Windows 2000.  Now, vista is out and everything ever written on this subject, it can do nothing more than Windows 2000.  Even if the voice activation has been fully successful since 1995, I heard that vista does not come with it.  Even if software video free DVD for many years, vista does not come with it.  Although windows 2000 integrates the easier menu system ever created, vista does not support the menu of windows 2000 System.  Windows 2000 starts, opens all programs instantly, works with internet and who manages all programs perfectly right now, in 2008, they made another OS.  Why did do XP and vista?

So, why anyone would take another version of an OS after that the first works perfectly?  I've never understood this.  Help, please.

Peter, there are several good reasons to upgrade to Vista. Depending on what you mainly use your PC for some may be more appealing then others. The following link will help you to discover who has the largest retail dealer and the will you more information about how to upgrade:

Dear God. I can't believe how much a long time ago, I asked this question. Over 2 years later I see something in my Inbox (right now). Honestly, I know more ask this question.

And more now, I would say try the upgrade to Windows 2000 if you happen to have a product key. Then go to Windows XP. If not, is it possible to restore Windows 98 updates? Perhaps the latest edition of Service causes a conflict with the upgrade. You be left with a clean cloth. I'm curious, that you still have a machine running Windows 98? What is the material/specs on this platform? I can't believe anyone is still out there running old technology like this to use out of it.
  • Satellite Pro 4320 - upgrade to Windows XP Home edition

I have a 'standard' of Satellite Pro 4320 and plans the upgrade from Windows 2000 to XP - either domestic or professional. Y at - it advice on the problems or things to watch I'm likely to encounter?

    Hi Graham,

Only problem you may have is that the Toshiba utilities were all designed for Windows 2000 and may not work properly with XP. Downloads available for your laptop have only an update of the BIOS for XP.

Obviously XP contains device and utility drivers much more generic, so you may find that your system will work very well with the latter. Similarly, you can see that install the original Toshiba utility will work also. I have no definitive evidence either way.

You can also find you would benefit to increase the RAM since XP uses rather than previous operating systems.

  • Tecra S1 under Windows 2000 Professional external display problem

As I can't answer in the original thread (1831), because it is locked, I put here my answer to the answer of the Quad.

Quad first wanted to know if we have installed the Tecra S1 on a recovery CD.

No, we do not have. We have created an image that consists of an unattended installation. It is installed from a Windows 2000 RIS server.

Quad also said that the Fn + F5 is enabled after the installation of the utility Hotkey for display devices.

We downloaded the hotkey utility, but when we tried to install it we got the error message you "Driver not found" and suspended installation. We have installed as a user with administrator privileges.

We do something wrong, or this utility owes something to be installed as well?

    Kind regards

    The Netherlands.

    Hi again Mr. Hofman,

First of all I must tell you that this is a typical problem. AFAIK Tecra S1 comes with the Professional Windows XP Home edition and optionally with W2000 professional. This two OS has been tested and Toshiba offers all drivers and tools to Toshiba download website.

It will be interesting how you created this image. What was the basis for this image? You are installed to the first completely Tecra and after created image?

Have you had problems before the creation of the image?

  • NB550D - upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to professional

    Dear all,

I recently bought a Toshiba NB550D and must update the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Pro. I tried the (preinstalled) Anytime Upgrade Assistant level, but this does not work. I'm stuck in the wizard because - as he says - "you may need to change the language settings or locale to purchase Windows Anytime Upgrade online". I learned that in order to use anytime upgrade regional settings must be identical to those of the country where your billing address. For me, this country is Switzerland, everything must be in German.

The problem is, the installation of Windows 7 Starter still uses English as 'Display language' and this cannot be changed after installation. I tried to roll back the installation but there is no other possible choice, it is always English. All other regional and language settings can be changed.

    My questions:
-Are there a way to force the display of Windows 7 Starter language to German (whether before or after the initial installation)?
-Are there a way to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, work around the problem, for example by using a different approach of the wizard at any time to upgrade?
D ' other suggestions that might help?

    Thank you
    GG

    Hey Buddy,

It depends of the pre-installed Windows 7 Starter. If Windows 7 Starter has been pre-installed in the English language only an upgrade to an English version of Windows 7 Professional is possible. So that you can t upgrading English to German for example, this is why you have to buy a new version of Windows 7.

So either you buy a new version of Windows 7 Professional in German, or you upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. The Ultimate version offers MUI (Multilingual User Interface).

  • Satellite L650 - upgrade from Windows 7 Home Professional

    Hello

I have the Satellite L650 - 15G with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. Due to some limitations of this OS, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 professional since I am in Dubai, WAU is not available for me. I called Microsoft and they said I have to get through retailers.

My query is, is it all Toshiba support available in the UNITED Arab Emirates, to upgrade the operating system? Toshiba allow the upgrade through the channel of the where I bought my laptop?

    Microsoft is not good!

    Hello

As much as I know there no support for Toshiba to upgrade the operating system. Only the preinstalled OS will be supported, and some models are available with different versions of Windows.

In any case, I think that Microsoft is right and you will need to purchase a Windows 7 upgrade disk. Using this disk, you can start the upgrade. This should be possible without new installation so that all programs and data will not be erased.
