Usable disk HDS sizing question

Hi guys,.

I had a sales guys tell me:

Rates based on 30% R10 / 80% R5-9.

of course, you can not 30/80 so I assume he meant 30/70, which seems to the average

I have trouble understanding how the usable figure below is happened?

1.9 CT MRI SSD

24 (23 usable) disc

ARE OPS / s 93 794

32 GB usable 038

My calculations which I assume are incorrect:

23 usable readers would give 43.7 TB @30/70 RAW read/write

30/70

RAID 10 and RAID 5-9

43.7 x0.3 = 13.11 GROSS TB would be used for the entries

13.11/2 = 6.55 TB usable RAID 10

43, 7 - 13.11 is 30,59 left TB RAW

30.59x0.89 = usable RAID 5-9 27.2251

6.55 + 27.2251 = 33.784 useful to

30/70

RAID 10 and RAID 5-5

43.7 x0.3 = 13.11 GROSS TB would be used for the entries

13.11/2 = 6.55 TB usable RAID 10

43, 7 - 13.11 is 30,59 left TB RAW

30.59x0.8 = TB 24,472 usable RAID 5-5

6.55 + 24.472 = 31,022 useful to

What Miss me?

See you soon

Marketing vs real usable by road numbers likely...

A 1.92 TB drive you nets 1788,14 GB of usable by disk space. Who will most likely spend your numbers down close what has been provided to you.

  • Satellite T130-hard disk/disk-Start Up question

    Hello

I have a T130 2 years old that I use every day for work and have known no problem at all with him until a few days ago, when I noticed that it was taking longer than usual, to power.

I checked all of my updates were up-to-date they are as far as I am aware of the Tempro and Windows. I did an AVG scan and nothing came out of the ordinary there and I'm still more than a third of the space on my hard drive.

Everything was going well for a few days then yesterday when I tried to turn on the laptop wouldn't turn on at all--after several tries, on what he finally came and I kept it in sleep/stand by mode until I find what is happening. I ran the Diagnostic PC tool and everything is coming as a PASS except for the hard disk which appears in case of FAILURE. My USB pen is not registered when I try to use it. That said when I checked the PC Health Monitor, it says that my HARD drive was working and that my hard drive was 'good '.

I assume from the above that there can only be one disk hard question - what is my next step? This kind of thing is easy to repair? Am I covered for what is a matter of product and less than five years, since I bought the laptop?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

If the HARD drive is not present in the BIOS, you will need to replace the HARD drive with a new one.
Do you know how to access the BIOS?
Switch on and press the F2 key. Now, you should check the first page of the BIOS. Usually the CD/DVD drive and the HARD drive must be included with all the details.
If the BIOS could not recognize the HARD drive, this means that the HARD drive is faulty.

To my knowledge, you could use a simple 2.5 HDD.
Here is a beautiful statement containing a few photos and film how to replace HDD on T130 series.

  • VAPP disk space sizing

    vCenter Operations Manager 5.8.4

    Hello

Something escapes me the size of vApp:

-Referring to guidelines recommended such sizing in the vCOps documentation: KB VMware: VMware vRealize Operations Manager Sizing Guidelines

Choose the small configuration, disk storage must be 900 GB total (800 GB for VM Analytics, ~ 120 GB for VM UI)

-When you deploy the VAPP, the FVO information are displayed:

Could you please explain to me the difference? How much disk space my TIME will be if I deploy vCOps with little configuration using thick Provisioning?

Thank you very much for your answers.

    M.G.

By default, the deployment is not designed in accordance with the recommendation in the KB. The hope is that you will be adding disk and change the configuration of your particular environment.

Vs thin thickness is not specific to this OVA, it is a matter of General vSphere. Best practices recommend using eager thick for performance benefits, as slim adds a performance penalty due to the amount of writes to disk by this unit.

  • Consolidation of Virtual Machine disk is necessary question

Today, I have one of my virtual downwards because the error message that says that "there is no more space for disk virtual xxxxx - 000018.vmdk.» you might be able to continue this session by freeing up disk space on the relevant volume by clicking on try again"

I want to know why this happened if I make my virtual with 1.5 to and my server is new... so for the most part the server have 300 GB in use... I also had 750 GB available for an another virtual and that the question, why this virtual grow too much and too quickly?

Also when this happened how can I do to solve this problem, how disk space if I did a single data store with al the available space.

    The suggestions will be welcome.

    Thanks for you comments.

In the files you posted, it appears that 000002 and 000007 files are not in use by the virtual machine, but the others are. What I recommend you do is to open the Snapshot Manager, create a new snapshot and then run "Delete All". This should clean all the snapshots except for the two mentioned above. If this is the case, shut down the virtual computer and move the two snapshots listed in a subfolder (to be able to restore them in case I'm wrong), then power on the virtual machine again. If there is no error, you can delete the moved files.

Unfortunately I can't see any rule, snapshots are used and that have been created just for adding hot backup not, so you should always have to understand this from scratch. At least for the moment until Acronis comes up with a fix, you need to delete snapshots manually on a daily basis since the Snapshot Manager (create a new cliché-> Delete All) to avoid any trouble with too many active snapshot on the virtual computer.

You have another virtual computer that has NOT "changed block Tracking" on, to see if the problem is related to the CBT!

  • Virtual disk / cliché Consolidation Questions

    Hi all

Guidelines in the Article of the basis of knowledge 1007849 (link), I have a few questions about the Consolidation of VMDK/Snapshot.

First of all, there is no. SNAPSHOTS (or SS files) in the Snapshot Manager or browser (However, I believe that it is because I am committed never completely the prior of snapshots).

As can be seen in the picture, I have 3 flat files:

    File1.VMDK (10 GB)

    FILE1_1.VMDK (35 GB)

    FILE1_2.VMDK (60 GB)

Run the commands (and in the browser), I show that I have 4 files with extensions: vm_x - 00000 x hard-x (where x = 1 or 2) with three original flat files.

As can be seen in the picture, they are:

    File1 - 000001.vmdk (1.4 GB)

    FILE1_1 - 000001.vmdk (7 GB)

    FILE1_2 - 000001.vmdk (28 GB)

    FILE1_2 - 000002.vmdk (132 MB)

    The commands show the files in use are: file1 - 000001.vmdk, FILE1_1 - 000001.vmdk, FILE1_2 - 000002.vmdk

My goal is now to consolidate these four files of x - 00000 x hard with the original flat files (I'm running out of space on my LUN and badly need to reclaim the space used by deltas).

The rest of the Article, I can do that by cloning the LAST delta file (vm_x-x - 00000 x hard) to a temporary logical unit number and the result will be a FLAT file with all the changes of delta AND the original structure. I can then do this for every disc of delta and the result would be 3 dish VMDK, thick well consolidated with changes in delta and the original content to the size of my original housing.

Am I wrong? Or am I missing something?

Any advice/help/advice/suggestions on VMDK/Snapshot Consolidation would be greatly appreciated!

    Tony

    Tony in the morning,

    I agree / 3GB is severed a small fine.

The two should get the same result, but I guess the question should be asked and answered is: are you able to shut down the VM? If the answer is Yes, then or the other option is fine, but I'd probably go with the vmkfstools-i option first. If the requirement is to leave the machine on then I would use the VMware Converter to achieve given the free space you have.

I just had another idea. If you use vCenter, then you can also clone the virtual machine. It would be almost identical using the vmkfstools-i option. Make a clone should be faster to copy them what VMware Converter like all across the disks rather than go on the network. There are the assumptions in this howerver statement generally it should be true. The only problem with it in this way is the hull of the virtual machine will need another name, while the vmkfstools option you can just do handed up new discs of the same shell. Depends on how comfortable you are with the console.

    .

Let us know how you go.

    Kind regards

  • Memory and disk HARD upgrade question - Satellite 5200 801

    Hi all

I really need your help to upgrade my toshiba Satellite 5200 801 (model: PS520E-31P1D-EN), basically it's the version specification factory (technical instructions on the link below)
    http://www.cwrose.de/Toshiba/S5200.html

What I want is to get faster internal memory, you can buy for this model (currently I have two default 256 mb DDR 266 MHz CL2.5 memory sticks). Will probably do a gig of memory (I could have more, but it depends on the price).
As well, I want to spend the HD to 160 gig (about), as well as get a faster hard drive then the current 60gig 4200 RPM Hitachi HD (as soon as possible for the specifications of my laptop).

Anyone know what would be the best option?

Someone said that it would cost all under 100 (that would be cool), but I don't know anything about the compatibility of different companies etc.
Can anyone recommend what equipment... .and where * I hope that ebay or studs :)
I need to go to get this sorted out

    PS:
FYI, I mostly use the laptop for graphic design, video, and the interwebz.

Thanks for any help you can give!
    Andy123n

    Hello

You can upgrade the Satellite 5200 801 memory and HARD drive.
S for laptop computer memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM. So you can use 2 x 512 MB PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

    Check this link 5200-801 Satellite:
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=6116&ft=m&St=3

In my opinion, you can use the modules of memory from different manufacturers, but the module must support these specifications: 200-Pin PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM
I suppose you could also use a 400 Mhz because the laptop supports a 400 Mhz FSB too.

I think that an upgrade of the IDE 160 GB HARD disk is not possible. To my knowledge, the BIOS can support such massive size of the HARD drive. But this is only my personal opinion. If I was you I would try a smaller HDD like 100 GB or 120 GB.

  • Re: Satellite P200 - 1 K 8: used twice recovery - disk HARD size question

    Hello

I was wondering if you could help with a little advice, I had to get my laptop p200 yesterday, it went well, but I noticed there was a 14 GB used in my hard drive, I know that vista is pretty big so I thought nothing of it, but due to an error of installation of some software, I had to get back again , this time I seem to be almost 24 GB used when there is no vista just the files on my computer. (I uninstalled all the software Toshiba because I don't use it either) any body have any ideas what it could be I know not on the score of 1.5 GB for the recovery, but I'm stuck as to where ive lost 10 GB

Any ideas or help would be very appreciated

    Concerning

    Richard.

Oh I forgot to add I can't with partition magic and I've added the files I have 7 GB now in program files and an installation of vista 14FR adds up not to anywhere near 36 GB, which is what is used on my hard drive

On my laptop, setting it up like this:

    200 GB HARD DRIVE

1.5 GB for Vista EISA (used to fix Vista) recovery partition
6 GB for the recovery Partition Toshiba (used when you restore the HARD drive to its factory State)
190 GB for Vista (its really about 178GB GB vs BillionByte of conversion and the Table of Allocation of files)

In Control Panel-> Admin Tools-> computer-> Storage-> disk management management, you can see the partitions. Take a look here for something unusual

  • Running out of disk space HARD - Question on the Windows folder size

Hello! I am troubleshooting my HARD drive space. I have a 'C' HDD 16 GB with nearly 0 MB space left (fluctuates probably due to created restore points).

In any case, I discovered that my Windows folder contains about 7.7 GB of files. (I have Win XP Home Ed, 2002, SP3 installed - with MANY updates that have been installed over the years) 7.7 GB seems a lot.  Random check on the web (not sure how reliable replica is) I see less than 2 GB is what should be there.

I don't think that there are many 'other' stuff in there, certainly nothing that I placed there. is there a way to check / clean this folder?

Please do not suggest to re - install Windows as the solution, since at that time, I will buy another computer first.  then put in shape this one. It is clocked at 2.66 GHz Intel Pentium, so not ready to junk food she still.

Thanks for your suggestions. Best regards, Frank V

    Frank

Your list of the most fragmented files that partially reveals the magnitude of your problem. Note that the list does not display very large files that have less than 797 fragments. There are also many small and medium-sizes of the files fragmented with less than 797 fragments. A notable omission in your list, this is the System Volume Information folder. I can't believe that it is not fragmented, she must be on this part of the list is not displayed.

To defragment by using with Windows XP Disk Defragmenter, you need a bit less 15%. Defraggler is my favorite Defragmenter, but I doubt that it will succeed on your C partition. With Defraggler you can defragment single files, except some files, including those related to safety programs. You must try to reach 20% of free disk space.

Your swap file is severely fragmented and illustrated perfectly why the possibility of using the "let Windows manage" is not the best solution if you want the better system performance. Minimum setting fixed maximum = pagefile avoids what you see on your system. Unfortunately with a populated partition, it is very difficult if not impossible to resolve completely without having to reinstall the operating system. However, trying to mitigate the impact of what you see, it's something to watch much later in the restoration, the functioning of your computer.

My previous to Outlook Express references were specifically directed against this program. Outlook is a totally different program and solutions for Outlook Express do not apply to Outlook.

You cannot compact Outlook pst files and archives, except those who created versions of Outlook prior to Outlook 2003. You can empty deleted item folder and you must first check that it is empty. I would then back up your Outlook Archives on an external drive or flash before attempting to move the locations of archive. Once you have moved the archive folders successfully I would then move messages from your current folders to the archive folders. If you archive the current materials first of all you have more to lose if the process of change the default location of the folder goes awry. Then, you can archive your current messages and change the default location of the current file. You can move messages current return from archives as a last step if you feel the need to do so.

I copied a few instructions from an external source on how to change the default locations. I hope you find these useful.

To change the location of database of Microsoft Outlook, the OUTLOOK file. PST is to be moved. In Windows XP, you can find this file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\loginname\Local Settings\Application application\Microsoft\Outlook\ and in Windows Vista, you can find it in the C:\Users\loginname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\ folder. After Outlook is closed, the OUTLOOK folder. PST can be moved easily using Windows Explorer by cutting (CTRL-X) and paste (CTRL-V) in the personal folder on the partition data (for example D:\loginname\Outlook). Now, the file is deleted from the original location, Outlook will present an error message because the database can not found. Accept the error message, navigate to the new location of the OUTLOOK. PST file and restart Outlook.

ATTENTION: If automatic archiving is enabled, the ARCHIVE file. PST must be moved as well! This file can be moved to the same location as OUTLOOK. PST, following the same procedure.

  • Update post sizing question

    Hi guys,.

    I've just loaded Photoshop CC for the first time since the update. It is now too big to fit on my screen;

    photoshop problem.png

No idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Hannah

Use the Edit menu > Preferences in the section defined interface UI scaling to 100%. You will always have the problem with the Script being translated into size dialogs there are a lot of questions in 2015 CC, you'd be better off installing CC 2014.

  • Average of I/o to disk (Trans/Sec) - question

    Hello

I have a report of a VMware Capacity Planner exercise that shows my average disk i/o (/ s) 257, and also the disk i/o (MB/s) 5.

Each of my ESX host has a pair of 4 GB HBA connected to a HP Bay with groups of discs containing 32 x 15 k FC drives.

I know that my 4 GB HBA can spend 400 MB per minute so it's not a neck of the bottle, but I was wondering how I can measure the disk/s e/s against my Storage Setup to see if they are likely to be a bottle neck.

257/s seems to low, medium or high?

    Thank you

247 is pretty weak, honestly.  It's about 2 discs of IO.

Really, there are 2 ways to evaluate what can make your table:

    (1) talk to your provider and ask them to calculate what your table must be able to do in this config.

    (2) benchmark using IOmeter, vdbench or similar and see what he can do.  Note: This can put a lot of stress on your table, so be careful to do on the production tables.

    That being said, 32 15K readers should manage * on * 3000 (RAID5) Ops ARE / s or about 4500 (RAID10) Ops ARE / s, in total.

  • Custom Slot sizing question

    Hi all

To change the sizing of slot HA in our environment for a custom configuration. I use Options advances of das.slotcpuinmhz and das.slotmeminmb to set custom values. However, when you select the link Advanced Runtime information slot sizing settings are not applied. In an effort to try to get the settings to be taken, I disabled and re-enabled HA without success. Other thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Jason

Advanced options that you use only allows to put a cap on the size of the slot, do not define an absolute value. So if the max reservation + overhead of all virtual machines under voltage is lower than the value specified in the advanced option, then advanced options will not take effect. There's no value by the size of the top slot of the largest virtual machine.

  • Oracle RAC 11 g 2 on Windows - disk storage Newbie question

    Hi all

I read in the network installation guide in order to understand how to set up a RAC solution. I am new to Oracle for many of these concepts, I am trying to understand, but what I read a typical installation would be to have my cluster software installed on a particular type of shared storage of OCFS or ASM. These types of storage can sit on top of a redundant option such as RAID or logical volumes on disks or some sort of mirroring (same THING).

I know what I said is probably a rough attempt to understand it, but what I would like is if anyone has diagrams that lay this out for me using my understanding it would be great.

I'm a bit at a stage where I think about creating a RAC on some VMWare installation and want to know how best to configure the drives initials and to add to a RAID or burn on partitions.

    Hope I made sense.

    Thank you

You can find several scenarios on this pages:
    http://www.Oracle-base.com/articles/RAC/ArticlesRac.php
You can use 2 different articles - one for windows OS setting, second for DB.

Here is the output from the console

OBJECT => SubContainer (H:0 | W:0)is contained this way: bottom
OBJECT => OBJECT (H:390 | W:665)is contained this way: contained

So, what's the problem with this void container?

    Please thanks for your help!

    Hey dtater,

Add this to the bottom of your application:

    OBJECT.layout();MainCont.layout();

that should do the trick! Good luck!

  • Sizing questions. pixels and inches

Hi guys. I am new to adobe but loving the journey. Im trying to make a banner in photoshop for my muse site. I need to be 10 "X 3.75" on the screen with a rule. " When I do the banner in photoshop, it is important that size huge in muse. I'm doing something wrong? How to do a project of this size in inches and export these real inches? hope that makes sense. Thanks for reading guys and any input!

Click on this banner in Muse, open the window > Panel active and you'll have this image/object highlighted. Something is probably already placed since you use the template. Right-click on the image and you have several options available including the folder with this asset or original edition. This is how you can retrieve information about the dimensions that are used by the model developers.

And incidentally, Muse is able to optimize the assets so you just keep the proportions and the rest can be done automatically by the software (any huge scale of property if it seems). You can count on the capabilities of the Muse, at least from my experience.

  • sizing question

I have created a printable in photoshop CC, but when I try to print at Shutterfly/Walgreens/etc, it tries to crop the top and bottom of the document.  I have details at the outer sides that I don't want to lose.  I have the image of size as a 5 x 7 psd, up to what I'm doing wrong?  I am an amateur in the software and the Google search everything I'll - advice would be appreciated.

I went to Shutterfly and found this:

It would seem that Shutterfly does not print a complete picture of 5 x 7 to the stock size. I suggest that you read their specifications and reduce the size of your image file properly.
