  • Pavilion a6120n: USB ports and slots memory card does not

My Pavilion a6120n desktop computer has worked brilliantly since I bought it. Since last week the 2 front usb ports and 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into a rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work very well.

I use usually a USB key for the exchange of data or card reader locations (which have also stopped working). I no longer see memory card icons in the window 'computer '. When install something again the "new hardware found" statement appears, but the driver install always fails. I think it's a software problem, but there is no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find... so...

Here's what I've tried so far.

Run antivirus software. Full scan & scan memory - no problem

Don't scan complete malewarebytes - no problem

I tried to reboot several times without success.

Catering to several previous = failure restore points

Computer restart in repair = failure mode

Use the repair disk I did = failure

Control the management of the power supply for each usb port see if power was properly routed = ok

Removed the cover of the housing and carefully inspected the cables and connectors.

Finally I tried to uninstall the drivers usb = failure

After restarting the computer the last time that the boot file has failed, and after several hours of attempting a repair, I had to reinstall Windows 7 completely.

Still no usb or memory card function.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

OK, after a lot of frustration and a reflection to when the problem started. I discovered it all started when I installed my new HP Envy 4500 printer all-in-one. It has wireless capabilities, but I installed it via a usb cable.  I just didn't know it would be the problem but I started with this premise.

I got all components usb of the computer (except the mouse at the moment). So I uninstalled all the usb drivers I had on Device Manager.

After restart, drivers loaded automatically and everything works fine now. I see my camera via the connection cable, the work now in sd slots and all the work of the usb.

I left the 4500 want connected and installed the printer with the network provided on the installation disc software. I test printed from my computer and iPod so far, and it still works properly.

I did have to reinstall Vista. Could it have been a glitch in the installation of the software want to through the usb cable? Don't know and don't care at this point. Just happy that everything works.

Thanks for the comments, and I consider this problem to be solved.

  • Satellite Pro A120 and WXP - need drivers for USB and SD slot

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite PRO A120 PSAC1E XP, I need to find the drivers for the USB port and SD memory card port.
After reinstalling the operating system won't work.

For USB, you need to install driver chipset and SD card, you must install SD Secure module and later the two SD utilities.
Please download the Instructions of facilities and install all the stuff following this order of installations.

If you have, so nothing can be wrong.

  • Dynadock U3.0 does not work on USB 3.0

    Hello

My Dynadock works quite strange (8.1 WIN): it works perfectly well on the USB 2.0 slot, while only partially on USB 3.0 - in this case there is no ethernet connection and video, so no Displaylink of icon in the status bar. Only the usb ports and audio work as usual.

Anyone have any idea, what could be the reason for this?

    Hello

What Dnadock model do you have?

I don't know if this will help, but you can try to install the latest driver available on http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Satego X 200: make USB 2.0

Whenever I connect a USB 2.0 device on my laptop, I get a message from Board "this device can achieve better performance when connected to a high speed USB 2.0 slot" (freely translted, German OS).
When I click on 'View available seats' it shows that all of my 6 USB slots are not occupied.
I tried a BIOS update, but it did not help.
    I also installed Vista SP1.

I will be grateful for any help here ;)

    Hello

I assume you mean on this error message described in this MS knowledge base article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/835967

Your laptop supports without a doubt USB 2.0 and this error message shouldn't t appear.
If you want you can disable it as described in the article above.

You can also try to remove all USB hubs and USB controllers from Device Manager and could restart the operating system to reinstall it again.

It is also desirable to reinstall the chipset driver and update the OS to the last State. I mean that you need to install all possible updates, patches and fixes Ms.

    Good luck

  • ThinkPad E540 USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 win 7.1

I just bought the E540. Running to Win 7.1. I have 2 WD Passport 3.0 drives connected on a USB 3.0 hub. The 3.0 hub has the right cable for 3.0. They are not recognized as 3.0 devices (I get a message). I updated the USB 3.0 on the lenovo site driver and BIOS is set to auto.recognize. I also tried the 3.0 option in the BIOS, but that did nothing. I also tried to use the disks without the hub in one of the USB 3.0 slots, but that did nothing either.

I checked the forum, but what I found was perhaps buy a 3.0 cable (not required - my cable is compatible 3.0) but it was for a Wn 8 system or the update driver device 3.0 (done).

    So much for plug-and-play.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finally understood it. The USB 3.0 hub that I bought (made in China) did not have enough power for my Western Digital USB 3.0 drives. I bought a powered best hub and all my disks are pretty happy now.

  • Win 7 64 does not see disks external usb 3.0 at startup

I have a 3 TB usb 3.0 drive external which is plugged into a usb port 3 on my Windows 7 Asus computer. At startup, the computer see this player. If I inplug the power from the USB and plug it in again, the computer sees the drive and all is well.

If I plug this drive into a usb 2.0 location, the computer sees it at startup. I would like to be able to use the speed of the usb 3.0 slot, however.

I installed a new driver on the seagate site (all on the phone with technical support of seagate). This did not help. The man said he thought that the problem was probably in the settings of the bios of the computer.

In Device Manager, I've uninstalled the USB mass storage device element which had a '! ' and then right click and choose scan for hardware changes. Scan the computer, and then try to install the drivers, then the error message that says that the driver installation failed, without explaining why.

    Help, please

I thank each of you for your attempts to answer this question!
YES, microsoft 'fixed' the problem that was part of the addition of service pack 1 for win 7.
It seems that the transition "done something" to how usb 3.0 drivers worked. Or in my case, didn't work. After you apply the fix, everything seems TSE be as it should have in the first place.

    You can close this one!

  • The Device Manager on my Windows box lists a hub USB 3.0 as one of USB controllers. This means that one or more of the USB ports are capable of 3.0?

I recently bought a backup disk says he would run faster is it my 3.0 instead of 2.0 USB ports.

Just try to understand the computer itself, if one of the 8 USB ports on my desktop Dell (Windows 7, 64-bit box) is capable of USB 3.0.

    Hi John,.

The message that Windows gives is Windows telling you put a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 slot and the speeds will be Cap using USB 2.0 footrest.

If you are looking for your system on the website of Glens, it should tell you if one of the USB ports are 3.0 or not.  I think that USB 3.0 is marked with the blue wire around the ports.

  • Why won't a USB SANDISK MOBILEMATE SD + with SDDR-104 inside, be recognized by my WINDOWS 7 64 bit?

I just got a new laptop, with Windows 7, but with 64-bit, not 32-bit. I just also a Sandisk Cruzer 32 GB, and everything works well, no problems my new pc to recognize, in the USB into the slot. A few years back, I bought a Sandisk Mobilemate SD + with SDDR-104 on it. It worked great too, on my old Windows XP computer, but try to use on my Windows 7 does not work.  I plug it into a USB plug in, and even if this same USB plug is where I just removed the Cruzer, the Mobilemate is NOT RECOGNISED by my new Windows 7. The light does not come on the memory stick, there is NO balloon that pops up to say he's been recognized, open my computer, does not list it in removable storage devices, nor is found ANYWHERE in Device Manager nor the fact seems to be an error anywhere in the list in Device Manager. For some reason the Mobilemate is not just note any attention, after I plug it into the USB port.

I contacted Sandisk a few days back and was denied any help with him, because he was 'TOO OLD' they said, but has anyone else contact me on it. I have not heard of anyone, or if it is a salary for a help type operation, I can't pay a thing, for what I can buy brand new, for $11. For these last days, I searched on the web, for info on if it's a software problem, a driver problem, or if because I have now a 64 bit instead of 32, it does not, on a 64-bit. In other words, it is not compatible with this pc. Now, I'll try someone there, asking if they can answer my question, why he is not recognized.

    Thank you

    Paul

    (1) the MobileMate SD Plus reader was compatible with the versions of win up to Windows XP, no mention is made of Win7

    (2) adobe Photoshop as it depends on what version you're not all versions are compatible win7, it makes no difference that you have win7 64 bit, you need either a version compatible win7 or not.

  • Lost USB 2.0 high speed

I did a Clean install of Windows 7 in my HP Media Center PC m1160n, who had a Media Center XP on it. Now every time I plug into a USB port (6) I get a message back that I should use a USB 2.0 for faster operation. I do not know where they were going, they were USB 2.0 under the o/s XP but seems to have lost the drivers for them now. If I goto Device Manager, I find (Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller) with 2 USB Composite devices USB Mass Storage Device, USB print media and 4 USB hub root. But as I said, if I plug it into one of the ports is one of the 4 back or one of the 2 in front with my USB webcam it reports he would run faster on a USB 2.0 slot. What am I trying to find USB 2.0 for this drivers and install?

    HP Media Center m1160n PC

    SER # MXK4450W0P

Prod. # HP Media Center M1000?

    Old operating system XP Professional

    New o/s 7-Ultimate window

USB 1.0 devices connected to a hub will give the speed from 2.0 to 1.0.  Keep your devices USB 1.0 on separate hubs.

  • Wake model 11 AU58Y3K: speed of slot card SD 11 Stream?

The operating system is not serious. However, the computer dual-boots 10 Windows and Ubuntu-Mate 16.04. The question is, what is the speed of the interface to the SD card? I looked into the user's Guide and service manual (nor of which came with my computer), but have not been able to find the answer to my question.

    RockDoctor wrote:

    Thanks for the reference.

If I interpret it correctly, the USB 3.0 slot offers a faster interface that does the SD card slot. Is this correct?

By all means until now yes, it's faster but it is not internal unlike a SD card slot and anything out USB is more likely to break and damaging unlike a SD card slot.

  • Satellite C650 - slots USB works for just one minute

    Hello

My USB ports went flashing Sunday night without reason. 1 min they were working on the other that they are not. They seem to work when I turn on the laptop, then they stop without reason.

    I have

1 removed and reintalled drivers in the driver manager
2 install the latest chipset update
    3 restart the PC

Anyone know why that would happen, the slots are completely secure, sometimes they work then they stop just for no reason!

    See you soon

    Hello

What operating system is currently installed?

Usually this kind of problems with the USB ports can be resolved due to an update of the chipset driver and deleting the USB ports in Device Manager, but it seems that you have done already

You see anything unusual in the Windows Event Viewer?

In your case I would also load default settings in the BIOS (F9 key). Also have a glance on the Web from Toshiba site if there is a newer version of the BIOS.
