USB compatibility

I have an office of MacPro4.1 2008. Which version is the USB (I looked in info and it doesn't specify).

Because I want to connect to 12 t backup disk, but I think I can do it only with love at first sight. The Lacie 12 t is cheaper but not getting not large customers. I'll take all my HDs storage to consider at the Mexico where I have a Mac MIni with crush. But I'll be able to connect even for the MacPro?

an adapter will work?

This model supports USB 2.0 and has no capability of Thunderbolt without third-party add-on card. It has 2 FW400 and 2 FW800 ports. Apple sells a bolt of lightning to Firewire adapter. I don't know, but there may be a USB 3.0 third-party card.

  • IBM travelstar external USB compatibility with Portege 3480CT

    Hello
I try to use an IBM & reg travelstar in a box external usb with my Portege 3480CT running Windows 2000 (with sp4). While the disc is recognized as plug-and-play on other computers running win2k and winXP, is not recognized on my Portege, which gives an error message suggests that the drivers are missing.

According to IBM/hitachi (which make the player), no drivers are needed and the drive should work as plug-and-play, recognized as a generic USB HDD. This happens all other computers I've tried.

Are their compatibility problems with this drive? Or are their special all the drivers necessary to recognize this configuration on the Portege?
    Thank you
    B

    Hello

AFAIK there is no driver required for external hard drives and they are recognized as plug-and-play. Your Portege is an old unit and there may be a problem with the USB ports. Have you checked the other USB devices?

It is also possible that there is not enough power, and in this case, it is recommended to connect the drive using USB hub with own power supply.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones micro USB compatibility

I got a Black Berry Bold 9700 my company so I can't ask any question to my seller. I hope someone can help me.

I would buy an extra USB cable to have a cable at home and another cable to the office (especially the battery). Due to the policy of the company, we can buy accessories only from a supplier. There are several USB cable available from this provider, but one dedicated to Black Barry. The Original of this cable code is: ACODBBYMCRUSB (I don't know what that means "Original Code"). It is compatible with the following BB:

    Pearl Flip 8220

    Javelin 8520

    Curve 8900

    Storm 9500

9700 "BOLD" is not mentioned. Can someone tell me if a compatible with BB models above cable is also compatible with the Bold 9700?

More generally, is it true that the Bold 9700 USB microphone is not a standard micro USB cable? It is the shape of the plug or is related to the characteristic of the cable (impedance etc...)?

If the power plug is a standard, could someone tell me which are the characteristics of the cable so that I could buy generic provider mentioned micro USB cable. In particular, I found:

    -IC Intracom Manhattan CABLE MICRO USB 2.0 - USB 4 pin (M) - Micro-USB 5-pin - type B (M) - 1.8 m (USB/Hi-Speed USB)

This cable is suitable for BB Bold 9700?

    Many thanks in advance,

I'm French, so, if you want an English version of this post, just tell me. Thank you.

    Hello

I pour unwanted VMWare Fusion on Mac to run a VM Windows 7 64 bit.

I have an external hard drive USB 3 in 1 I'd like to be able to connect on Windows this.

Very soon a USB 32 GB USB 3 will also appear and will be connected on it.

However, unable to connect to my HARD drive.

So I tried to download this type driver, but impossible.

I have a popup to launch the driver installation that tells me that I don't have the required configuration.

I tried activate in the support of USB 3 VMWare Fusion settings, but nothing helped.

You would possibly solutions? Or have I something homis chosen?

    Thank you for your.

    Geetix.

    NB: I have a Macbook Pro 13 "Retina mid-2014.

In the virtual machine under USB & Bluetooth settings > advanced options USB > USB compatibility: set it to USB 2.0 and then if it connects properly workaround it connect it to a USB2.0 Port on the host computer or use a USB 2.0 Hub between it and the Mac.  Also, just using an extension USB cable 2.0 could stamp it down to also be used as a workaround.

  • Support of USB 3.0?

I tried to mount a USB3.0 drive in a virtual machine on my MBP (mid-2012, OSX 10.8.3) but I get the following error before it happens even to the virtual machine:

The "XXX" device failed to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be to connect this device to the available host controller. This could result in undefined behavior for this device.

This bug exists in VMware Fusion 5.0.3 and severe a pain. I've searched the forums and notes version, and the closer, I could find was of: VMware Fusion 5 and VMware Fusion 5 Professional Release Notes

Unable to start a VM from USB 3.0 on MacBook Air 5.1 devices
You may not be able to start a virtual machine from the devices USB 3.0 on MacBook Air 5.1.
When you attach a USB 3.0 device, you see the error message the device 'XXX' could not connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be to connect this device to the available host controller. This could result in undefined behavior for this device.

You can ignore the error message and the installation of the OS on the USB device. However, after restarting the virtual machine, the USB 3.0 device does not appear in the Start Menu.

Solution: Use a USB 2.0 as a replacement device.

Although I'm not trying to boot from USB, I always get this error. This means that the USB 3 devices are not supported? If they are supposed to work, how can I file a bug?  If they are not supported, is there a roadmap or some sort of indication of when we might be able to use USB 3 devices?

    Thank you

Before connect you the USB 3.0 device to Debian 7 GOS, you must configure your USB controller 3.0 by hand, referring to the following Action Plan:

I TRIED EACH OPTION ALL I COULD CHOOSE AFTER KEY PRESSING F8 OR F1 ON THE LOADING OF WINDOWS,.

But unfortunately nothing works, as - REPAIR WINDOWS, safe MODE, SAFE WITH NETWORKING, DEBUGGER MODE, NORMAL MODE etc. - No. OPTION DOES WORK.

WINDOWS 7 DOES NOT START IN ANY MODE.

Installing the driver from HP support online is not a choice that I can't install the driver for laptop even using external drive. External USB cannot be recognized for install driver until the launch of the window in any mode.

I remember that yesterday this windows 7 automatically installed a updated (probably service Pack 2), since then window could never run in any mode. Only a blue screen!

    What are my options now?

    Thank you

I am very satisfied with HP support. My laptop now runs like new.

There was some hardware (fan and usb) compatibility problem, which they actually replaced. HP picked up my laptop home and fix it for FREE! They installed new hardwares free too!

No loss of data, all data was stored on the laptop hard drive, as it was in the system before the problem.

Thank you very much for the pick up of HP service and repair staff, as they have also installed free new laptop cover and keyboard as a compliment.

It looks like new, responsible for programs and database full of old.

  • Unable to connect a USB3.0 computer disk virtual de Windows 7

    Hello

When I tried to connect the hard drive USB 3.0 for a virtual machine in Windows 7, I had the following problem:

    Help, please!

    Hello

Unfortunately Windows 7 itself does not come with USB3 support (this is sometimes referred to as windows 7 not having is not a driver of Inbox for USB3).

While some devices come with additional drivers for USB3 support in Windows 7, these drivers are not guaranteed to work when it runs under VMware Fusion. Now VMware Fusion does not provide a specific USB3 driver of Windows 7 at the prompt.

To use a USB3 under VMware Fusion device, you have the following options:

-Use an operating system with USB3 support (eg. Windows 8.x or similar)

-Use a hub USB2 or USB2 cable between your computer and the USB3 device to use to downgrade the interface USB2 USB3

-Connect to a USB2 connector on your computer if your computer has such a connector.

-You can try to set the USB compatibility under menu-> settings-> Bluetooth USB VM &-> Advanced-> compatibility-> USB2

  • Compatibility issue with stereo w/USB Port (and radio too) with the "rocket" GB 2

I bought a 2 GB rocket. In MSC Mode, I downloaded a few songs and I went to connect to my Sony MHC GT222 (with the USB cable), and he said "No Media". Read the manual, I found that the MHC can only read on devices FAT16 or FAT32. My question is this:

Can I format the "rocket" in FAT16 or FAT32? Then what? Download a firmware update, update day, then format the device menu?

Or should I just format the device menu? The unit is Sony too, so the same restriction applies.

Oh, and I can plug a 4 GB microSD card in the "rocket" GB 2? When I bought it, told me that it can only support 2 GB microSD.

    Thank you for your time.

I believe that I have found a workaround. Please have in mind that it is a Sony stereo or a USB car stereo.

And remember also that Sandisk did not test compatibility with Sony, and so this workaround might be replaced by a firmware update.

It worked for my Fuze 2 GB.

    • Have a LCD card and put it in the slot. Preferably a 4 GB, 8 GB or 16 GB, if you have the resources. Reasons later.
    • You connect Fuze on a USB port.
    • Under Windows XP, my computer appears a Sansa Fuze removable drive (say: and a removable drive (let's say I the removable drive after the "rocket" is the LCD map.))
    • Now, the removable disk in a directory called MUSIC (usually the "rocket" already done this a when you plugged the micro card) drag and drop all the music files you want to access.
    • Remove the "rocket".
    • Wait so the "rocket" updates the music database.
    • With the USB cable, connect the rocket in the Sony stereo / car stereo. Press Play. The player is available as a silent reader, and music should start playing.

Why the card must be equal to or greater than 4 GB? Because these cards are formatted in FAT32, and these materials are accessible by the Sony with USB ports. Why with a card? Because the Sony apparently are programmed to recognize a player as a SOLID-STATE drive or an adapter for an SSD, not until the case of the "rocket" (not the technical details, but it's more understandable) and in this case the Sony, even once, apparently recognizes the "rocket" as an adapter for one SSD drive, so the internal memory is invisible. A Pro with this is that the "rocket" can be used in a way as a music for personal tastes in the internal memory and music for work in external memory if you have a Sony with USB port in the car or at the office.

  • Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB Scanner Driver for Windows XP SP1 installed SP 2 compatibility mode - does not

My machine is upgraded from XP SP2 to Windows 7. Support was interrupted by the manufacturer scanner after the pilot XP SP1.   Update of Windows in my system is always sur-installe updates automatically.   The scanner driver has been downloaded from the MFRS. ' site and installed in my computer Windows 7 in "compatibility mode for XP SP2. The scanner icon in my system tray.   To make a physical connection to my system, I get error that it can not be connected or cannot be configured.   I have two USB ports of work attached to the Mo (Chinese-"Weibu") and two USB PCI card is compatible with XP and earlier versions (as shown on the box, no mention of Windows 7).   I tried all these ports, always the scanner does not connect to my system.   In addition, my device manager under USB controllers, shows the exclamation marks in yellow triangles against two elements of the same name: "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller.   I uninstalled these 2 elements and restarted my system several times, without success.   At each reboot, the yellow marks disappear but soon reappear.  But the scanner worked perfectly fine in my old XP SP 2 system before moving on to Windows 7 and before installing the USB PCI card.

Is there a solution to this problem up the old USB devices and running in the Windows 7 environment?   (I have a very old IBM PC Camera too that works well in my old XP system, but not yet tried in the current system, even if the driver has been installed).

If finally I am not able to use the scanner under Windows 7, I reluctantly get Windows XP reinstalled on another drive and boot into it just to be able to use the scanner which is functioning perfectly.

I am a person of 78 years and enjoy using and experimenting with my PC, which has become an addiction for me.

    Thank you.

You can buy a copy of XP that would probably cost more to replace the scanner and now is not the right time to install XP anyway.

Your webcam is a lost cause. Compatibility mode has been designed to work for older programs, and Microsoft does not recommend to use it to install the device drivers. I have no idea why some here suggest a possibility...
