USB controller: unknown device next to a yellow question mark
Hello
Middle of last year had a system has crashed, rebuilt and has worked well since then.
Done only USB connections since then has been with my tablet to transfer images.
Before the crash, he worked well with connection to the solution Conon EOS Utility Desktop software to transfer images from the camera to the PC.
Given that rebuilt have not used this feature, but he tried a few days back it does not recognize the Original title:
USB controller
connection. Again I tried to use a USB SD card reader, but no luck.
Two working elements the Tablet and a regular USB.
There is a yellow question mark in front of the USB controller in the section other devices. Tried to reinstall error can't find.
Not able to use the original CD from Dell, as all drivers are for SP1 and I'm Noah on SP3 version 5.1
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.
Ken

"Other devices" yellow question marks
In my quest to have sound on my computer, I noticed that everything on my "Other devices" tab in "Device Manager" has the yellow question mark next to them. I have a "Biometric coprocessor" "Network controller" "Controller of Bus SM" and a "Unknown device" tab listed here. Should I be concerned by these? And, if so, is this another driver issue, as if the sound was? Thank you for your time and this is my specifics.

You can also try to identify the device in Device Manager on the "details" - tab of each device in the "Device instance ID".
If there is an ID as "PCI\VEN_yyyy & DEV_xxxx... "entry"xxxx"in the right field imput on www.pcidatabase.com
In the result list to compare the "yyyy" (above) with the VEN ID and then you have found the name of the device.
Other/similar "device instance ID" starting with 'USB '.... ' or 'ACPI' you will find in the table I linked above.

In Device Manager, OTHER DEVICES has yellow question mark
I always have problems with sudden black screens with auto restart. It has been suggested that I get a new video driver, so I went into Device Manager, and since there is no list for video devices, I looked in the other devices section (which has PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus controller, video controller, and video controller - compatible VGA) there is a yellow question mark next to each one. I opened each of them and read, "Unknown manufacturer", and "the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28) ' how to find who is the manufacturer and model and the version?
It might be true that it doesn't work with Windows 7, I never said it would work with Windows 7 (it's the XP forum, don't forget!) but there may be something similar. Since WIndows 7 is so wunnerfool, they just left that have a completely since there must be no need for this.
99% of the things on which I work is some flavor of Windows Server, XP or Citrix and haven't seen nobody wants to even consider moving their campus everything to Windows 7 and I do not see happening any time soon! It is not in their plans at all.
I support a handful of populous (just a few) who have systems that require Windows 7 for some features and other things though, but they are just itty bitty compared to the basic XP installed.

Satellite A200 - Win 8.1: Mass storage controller yellow question mark
Hello
After the installation of win 8.1 in old Toshiba A200 - everything is ok except the yellow question mark in "Mass storage controller" in Device Manager. So the sd card reader is useless.
Have an idea that is the driver for Win 8.1?
Hello
Please don't get me wrong, but I hope you know how old is A200. Even more recent machines are not supported for Win8.
So, I can understand that you want to use newer OS on this old piece of hardware and if most of the stuff works pretty well, you should be satisfied.
In this case when you use 8 years machine designed for Vista and certainly not taken in charge for Win8/Win8.1... who cares about SD card reader. You know what I mean? ;)Just disable the device in Device Manager and be happy.

Acrobat Reader plugin signature yellow question mark
I develop a plugin for digital signature (mainly for the reader but should work as well in Acrobat format). I have a basic proof of concept works, with the signing and verification and custom signature appearance, but I am getting a yellow question mark great displayed behind my appearance.
I've seen other posts on this forum who suggested the certificate must be approved, but I did and I always get the question mark.
What could I do it wrong? What should I do to make the question mark disappears?
(I'm in dev/test with Acrobat Reader DC and a certificate self-signed on Windows 10.)
Answered my own question (with a little help from this forum and the good people at Adobe):
Forum: "the multilayer model for appearances of digital signature in PDF format has been deprecated and is no longer part of the ISO standard for PDF (ISO 32000 - 1).»
The value default, kindly added by Acrobat/Reader, for the layer of n1, if I do not set anything, is this big ol' ' point yellow question mark. The solution is simply to make optional the L1 layer and the question mark disappears.

I have 3 USB 2.0 ports, but I'm only able to use one of them. Device Manager is a warning symbol yellow next to "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" and I can't find the drivers. I don't know what chipset I have because my OS did not come with what it is downloaded, so it lacks a lot of pilots.

Satellite A500 USB problem - unknown device.
Hello
Have a Satellite A500 I recently restored to factory from the recovery partition and reinstalled my Win7 upgrade.
I have a couple of unknown devices in Device Manager and have no way of knowing what they are.
They would normally be a problem for me except that I'm also the sounds of disconnecting USB every now and then and caveats relating to the devices being plugged into a port USB2 not high speed.I have of course plugged anything in time so I expect there is a device which is malfunctioning and not detected correctly.
The devices I first suspected (webcam, TV Tuner, touchpad) all normally appear in Device Manager so I'm at a loss as to what is the cause.
Any ideas?
BeardsHello
I understand this correctly?
You restored the A500 to the factory settings using the Toshiba recovery procedure and the unknown devices still shows up in the Device Manager?
That s strange because the recovery disk to put the laptop in the same State as on the first day of purchase. So generally unknown devices should not appear and all drivers must be installed correctly.
However, I found an interesting and in my eyes useful HowTo document that should help you to know which drivers are missing in your case.

Windows XP SP3 USB errors / unknown devices with Plug and Play
I have problems with USB flash drives and other plug-and-play devices detected by windows. After taking all possible measures to correct this problem (e.g. windows update, chip / update of the bios, update driver, driver and media ultilites reinstall, uninstall and allow windows update after restarting, removal of hidden devices and even remote tech support from Dell) whenever I connect a flash drive or use all plug-and-play devices it is detected as an unknown device and I can not put updated pilot any port I use. Hardware problems were excluded dute to recognition of the device and USB keyboard and USB mouse are functioning properly. Also these same plug-and-play devices worked well on other items of work. After Googling my eyeballs, I gave up and need help please. The only thing I can do now is to reinstall the operating system that really, really, I don't want to do.
UPDATE *.
Dell has replaced the motherboard and the problem was solved. Thanks to all here who offered advice and patience. -

Hello:
You should be able to run W7 32-bit on your model, but it won't be easy to find the drivers.
First, install the Intel chipset driver and restart.
Then, install the Intel HD graphics driver and restart.
Then install the reboot and the graphics driver nVidia.

Then, install the audio driver and restarted. Accept the agreement, download and install the first driver on the list.

To map wireless and bluetooth, do like this...
Go to Device Manager and click on the network controller needing drivers.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the control of the network window.
Now, you see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.
Drop down on it and select the second item in the list (Hardware ID).
