USB HD on gateway Linksys EA6500

I had two routers Linksys EA650. One of them is connected to the main via an Ethernet cable in Bridge mode.
The bridge has two connected external HDs.

My problem is that USB drives are not visible by any wireless computers on the network.

I'd appreciate deeply any useful suggestions.

Internet connection of the secondary router the DHCP value. Cascade of the router secondary in a 'LAN to LAN' configuration, as shown in the link below:

In waterfall or connect a Linksys router to another router

Nothing gets plugged into the Internet port on the secondary in this network scenario.

  • Linksys EA6500

Today I upgraded my router WRT160N at an EA6500 I thought that this would solve my connectivity with some issues

devices on my home network. My router (EA6500) is the wire connected to a modem and broadband wireless to my

    devices via my PC.

The devices I connected wireless are 1 x laptop computer, 2 x Android, mobile phones, 1 x Tablet Android and a Wii Console.

Connect the problems I have are mainly with the Tablet and Android phones. My router (EA6500) is located about

12 meters at greater distance and 1 floor below, about 3 meters from the devices.

Does that mean I have to buy an Extender in order to get a better signal for all my devices work.

From my experience with my EA6500, a Repeater, usually something connected via cable ethernet in Bridge mode if you can works well.

  • HELP WITH LINKSYS WUSB100 attached to the USB EXTENSION CABLE - does not work

    Hello team,

I own a LINKSYS WUSB100 usb adapter I used for my wifes desktop... I can connect to my home network to surf the net, but the signal is weak...  I decided to buy a 25' EXTNESION USB CABLE, which comes with a MALE AND FEMALE ends... I simply PLUGGED the cable on my DESK and PLUG the other end of the USB cable from the LINKSYS WUSB100 card and waiting for the COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE the card without any problems... To MY SURPRISE, the computer would not have hired the LINKSYS CARD... He said "the search for new deivce, peripheral found but not hired"(Something like that)... in any case the desktype sees the device, but willl not hired there as a LINKSYS and I cannot search FRO all networks... As soon as I unplug the LINKSYS of the cable and plug it into the USB port of the computer - BAM my network comes up with a weak signal... Can anyone understand this? My cable is too long?

Thanks a lot for all inpiut!

There is a standard length for the cable. It will not work with 20 foot extension... Try the cable up to 3-4 feet short and check.

  • Connection of external USB storage

I connected an external hard drive (WD "My Passport", 300 GB) USB to my router (Cisco EA6500). The drive has been formatted to NTFS. My services 3 computers router.

I looked at the Linksys WiFi Smart 'External storage' tools and see the FTP server is 'On', DLNA is 'On' and ensure access to records is 'On '. Access to the files tab all my computers have the permission to write & Edit and Delete actions.

The external drive appears in the LinkSys WiFi Smart as a 'Network Device' online program.

But it does not appear in Windows Explorer (or file such that named in 10 Windows Explorer).

I'm unable to access this storage to record data, how do I do so?

Hi, rszanti. Were you able to map a network drive on your computer? Network drive mapping is necessary so that you can access a device USB storage or storage network (SIN) attached to your router.

  • Daisy chaining with other routers and the common IP range EA6500 V2

I have a local network of...

    • a modem
    • a gateway connected to the modem computer/server
    • has a modem-router connected to the gateway/server via the port of the gateway/internet
(gateway/a two server NETWORK interface card)
    • a and B modem router wireless connected to the router via the gateway/router internet port B
    • both A and B using the same set of IP addresses, 192.168.0.XXX

Now I want to do the same thing with my Linksys EA6500 V2 I did with router B, I want to connect the Linksys router has via gateway/internet port on Linksys.  In addition, I want the Linksys router to use the DHCP server on the gateway server / as everyone is on the local network and, of course, I want to use the series of IP addresses, 192.168.0.XXX.

What I tried to do is to disable DHCP on the Linksys service, but nothing seems to change once the changes are activated.  I look in the Local network settings and see all the old default 192.168.1.1 for the router address and so on.  I also tried to change the address of the router manually an address of 192.168.0.x and was immediately cut off this subnet.  I tried the renewal of my Windows client computer and couldn't do that either.  And as my client could not change its own address 192.168.1.X, I couldn't reach the router to the address that I gave him.

How can I set up this router so that it uses the DHCP server on the gateway/server computer, including acquiring its own address in the same series.  Or at least set up so that it uses the same series of address than the rest of the LAN and no longer functions as a separate subnet?

It seemed that all I had to do to set up router B to connect this way was to disable the DHCP server and everything fell into place, no problem.  Is this all I need to do here?  Am I supposed to restart or something?  I'm tired of guessing and trial and error.

All tips or hints would be appreciated.

You have to give the EA6500 a router static IP address in the same subnet as your network, but not in the DHCP range.

Follow the instructions for 'LAN to LAN' Cascading in the link below:

In waterfall or connect a Linksys router to another router

Thing to keep in mind when cascading a router:

    1. Change the IP address of the secondary router to something like 192.168.1.254 so its on the same network, but is not in conflict with the main router
    2. Make sure that the DHCP service is disabled on the secondary router
    3. Make sure that nothing is ever connected to the internet port of the secondary router
    4. Differentiate the wireless SSID by location (Ex: downstairs) and the channel
  • Not shown EA6500 MP3 DLNA media server

    Hello!

I recently bought Linksys EA6500 router and attached a USB key with some media (4000 + MP3 files, 7000 + pictures and 1000 + videos). Everything works fine, even from Nexus 4 the wireless, but none of the MP3 files are appearing! Is there some known limitations in Server Twonky (which this device uses apparently) regarding the file naming, structure of subdirectory, whatever it is? I tried a new analysis of training, although has not tried to rebuild the database...

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Yes. There is a known limit with Twonky Media Server that is integrated with your router: "maxfiles-8000" - the license with Twonky limit the number of files to analyze 8000. This issue had been raised before and an acceptable reason is 'amount of cpu and ram needed to deal with the db in memory' - of course, these routers have way much weaker hardware specification, even compared to a smartphone running on Android OS 2.3.6.

Here is the thread that has been raised before:

    http://community.Linksys.com/T5/wireless-routers/E4200-v2-Twonky-media-server-issue-default-quot-Max...

  • I have a wireless adapter plugged into a port USB lock the computer.

I have a plugged into a USB wireless adapter.

I suddenly started bad connection to the router and my computer XP crashes.  The only way out is to do a hard reboot powering. When she returns to the top I'm reconnected but some or all of my cookies are undervalued.

I have Win XP with Service pack 3 and it is kept up-to-date.

I have a good anti-virus and firewall, and just in case, uninstalled and installed a different security package to make sure that wasn't it.

The wireless USB adapter is a linksys.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software for the Linksys and I reinstalled using the internet XP system so the Linksys software is not installed.

The problem seems to be stabilized after I uninstalled the adapter and re-installed without the Linksys software, just the drivers.

Problem solved, thanks for the help.

  • EA6500 - Canon sx510HS - connects, then disk - camera cannot see the network

Ok. Previously, I had a Netgear WNDR3300 and the device connected to the G network without problem and is remained connected. When I use the EA6500.

First of all, I see the network 2.4 comments when I search a network on the camera. I don't see the 2.4 or 5 ghz network. WPS will not find the camera and vice versa. Even if I try the PIN issued by the camera.

Secondly, when I manually add the camera to the network and enter the password, it connects for about 15 seconds then disconnects.

In the third place. When you use the option 'synchronize', the networks are not yet seen by the camera, but the camera connects to the network that I added manually, as in question 2, and stay tuned for a long time, however, it is necessary for the sync/copy all the new images in a folder on my pc.

So I'm puzzled as to why the camera connected so easily with the netgear and this Linksys EA6500 he will not keep the connection. any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi mtbmesa,

How far is the camera of your router? Outside the camera you have other wireless devices that connects very well with the router? What is the brand of the camera?

    Try these settings:

SSID: must be different for 2.4 GHZ and 5 GHz

    Network mode: mixed

    Security mode: WPA2/WPA mixed personal

    Channel width: 20 MHz

    Channel: 3, 6 or 9

I would like to know if it works.

    a. How can I determine whether version hardware version 1 og 2.

    b. making a portscanning on the Linksys WRT1900ACS for the internet I found that several ports where free.

When I went into the Setup, I get only portforwarded 20/21.

  • Can I attach a hub to the USB Port on E1550

I would like to attach a USB and a DVD to my E1550 is it possible?

    @Neil_H

We audited by our second level support team and it "s not advisable to connect a USB hub to the USB port on the router. The E1550 USB port is used to connect a device to external storage only, not even for virtual USB printing. It supports file sharing at home or on the Internet.

Links of USB storage on routers Linksys support FAT32 and NTFS with HFS for newer models. You can check this link for the manual of the device.

  • Can I connect printer to the usb port on the cable Modem CM100

    Hello

This may seem like a stupid question, but here goes... I know that the usb port on my Linksys Cisco CM100 cable modem is an optional way to connect the modem to the computer. I wonder if I can use the usb port to connect my HP 1020 laser printer instead.

The printer is not a network printer, and so I know that it may not work, but I have seen a few cases where a virtual port and install it as a local printer got to work.

If I can connect the printer to the modem, and then he would give me a way to print from my laptop in the other room.  My printer is just beside my modem configuration and the router. I have a Linksys router WGR614 wireless who sees the devices on my network share, so I think he could see the printer connected to the modem (?)

I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere. I didn't damage my equipment by blindly try this without knowing a little something. (I assume that the heart of my question is, on the CM100 usb port can be used for any usb device)?

(I have Windows 7 64-bit operating system, in case you need to know).

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

A standard print server will allow you to connect a USB printer to your network. There are models wired and wireless depending on how you want to connect to the network.
