In addition, there was a 'recommendation' which suggests I 'try to re-connect. If Windows does still not it, replace the device. " So I tried and tried (reconnection) but it's the same thing. USB NOT RECOGNIZED. I tried on the laptop of others and computers and the same thing happened. I have important documents stored on this hard drive... I don't think that the computer is at fault, rather my hardrive, but I'm not sure. What do you think? And are there ways I could solve this problem?

  As you have checked the hard disk on other computers and it gives the same error message that means there is a problem with the hard drive so I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the hard drive to get help.
