USB recovery image

Hi everyone;

I just bought a used Compaq q10 130ca running 7 starter netbook.  He had very light use and is about 5 mos old.  The original owner told me that he has never created a recovery media for it.

I would like to create an image of usb for her recovery.  As far as I know, the recovery partition is still intact.  The creator of recovery software USB makes a copy of the recovery partition or it copies the files to C:?

I have the music and MS Office, etc. already installed and wonder if it swells considerably the size of the necessary key?

Hello

The creator of recovery will just do a bootable copy of the Partition Recovery for you to reinstall your operating system as well as the original HP software provided with your PC.  It will include all your personal music, files, programs etc you have added/installed, which you would need to backup separately if you still want to reinstall the OS.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

    Hi globetrotterdk,

Yes, the creation of the image in the Chrome operating system or by using the recovery utility of Chrome on a PC base with a Chrome browser will allow you to create a backup of Windows. The version of Chrome OS will be determined by what you and your material, so no reason to choose anything and for recovery of Chrome utility, they are trying to simplify this away so many different types of chromebooks, use the generic C720 will work for you.

  • Problem backup recovery image on USB - recognizes no not my USB after inserting

    Hello

I watched the video and read the instructions to create a collection on

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03481733

    and did the following:

    1. Closed all programs and disconnected from the Internet;
    2. Wanted for HP Recovery Manager on the splash screen;
    3. Clicked on "Create recovery media" when the box of HP Recovery Manager came;
    4. Checked 'I agree' and click 'continue' on the next screen;
    5. Insert a USB Flash drive into one of the USB ports.
    6. A window pops up showing immediately that the USB Flash drive came with a SanDisk SecureAccess software;
    7. Closed the window without activating it / install the software.
    8. A noted USB Flash control box lights and a circle trotted under the three boxes supports
    9. Disconnected the USB Flash key;
    10. Insert the USB Flash drive to the two other USB ports and repeat all the steps and got the same results.

Here are the details of my laptop and a USB Flash drive:

    Laptop HP Pavilion g

    Windows 8 (64-bit)

    SanDisk Ultra USB Flash Drive

    32 GB

Software compatibility: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X v10.5 +.

I checked with success a recovery image on a SanDisk 32 GB USB Flash Drive for my other front HP laptop with no problems at all.  Given that the USB Flash drive is not longer than 32 GB and is not Compatible Windows 8, I don't know why it did not work this time.

The only thing is I don't remember if my other SanDisk Flash Drive USB provided with the SanDisk SecureAcess software.   This is why the process has failed?  If so, USB Flash Drive which brand is a good option?

    Thank you.

Hello anita1wu. I understand that you have recovery problems with your USB SanDisk player. I will answer all of your questions for you both:

1 SanDisk has always be my brand name 'To Go' because it lacks never me, that is until now.  Could you recommend me a reliable brand?

-Technically, I would suggest to buy HP USB sticks. However, in the end regardless. A 32 GB HP USB is essentially identical to a 32 GB USB Lexmark.

    2. am I correct that regardless of the brand name, I have to avoid getting a USB Flash drive that comes with a secure, or any software or features additional 'bonus '?

-C' is correct. With a view to the recovery process, you don't want anything on the drive that could take place. In addition, a recovery drive must contain only the relevant recovery software. Something else may have conflicts later.

I would like to know if this answers your questions, and if you have any other questions. I'm only here to help!

  • Cannot create a recovery image

    Hello

I just bought a HP Pavilion x 2, it has a 64 GB SSD.  I want to create a recovery image using the HP utility but when I try, it fails. I think it is because there is not enough space on the Windows partition to create the image.  I have a USB drive connected with 27 GB of free but looks like it will create the image on the C drive, before you copy it to the USB drive. I don't want to remove my recovery partition until I know that I have another copy and I can't find anything else to uninstall to get the 14 GB I need (have 12 GB free). I have only had the tablet a few days so did not have much here, have uninstalled everything I put here except for the updates of Windows that I did. I erased the wimy file temp user profile.

Does anyone have ideas, what I can do?

    Thank you

  • Satellite T130 - Toshiba create USB recovery

    Hello.

    This is the situation:

I have laptop Toshiba T130 with no DVD player. After installing Win7, I shrunk the partition D tool in Win7 and used the free space to install Linux with GRUB. Then I shrunk the partition also C by Win7 tool and free space to create another. This however told me something about the dynamic disk or something...

But he has somehow broken GRUB so I decided to reinstall Linux. But the scores have been somehow broken, but I installed Linux on the last partition. Since then I could not start Windows or repair because partition D has actually been removed!
The C with Win7 partition seemed intact.

Trying to fix the computer and try to start trouble, I got error 0 x 090 or something with partition table error. So therefore, I deliberately decided to create the new partition with Gparted that off my HARD drive. Then I put in place the new partitions: 3 x NTFS, (400 MB recovery, partition Win7 and another) + extended partition containing the NTFS partition + ext4 partition, swap.

Then I copied the hidden files (that I had saved earlier) in a hidden partition on the HDD laptop + I copied folder of Toshiba 3rd NTFS partition recovery (I had backed up the files immediately after obtaining of the laptop).

Now, I'm stuck with 0xc000000e error when you try to start. I also followed this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53952&tstart=15

Can you help me with Win7 Starter? And what program to use to make Win7 64 bit USB bootable recovery CD? I tried unetbootin and USB, but they did not...

Any advice will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much!

Oh mann what are you do is incredible. ;)
The entire structure of the HARD disk is now screwed upward. I m just wondering why you did that on this small Satellite T130.
I mean it's OK all what are you do and you can do what you want with your machine, but my personal opinion is you're wrong for laptop for all of this.

Satellite T130 is small ultra portable laptop designed to offer the maximum of mobility and offer long battery life, when you are out of office or travel through. So I think that the most important thing for this laptop is well installed and configured the operating system that runs stabile and with the minimum of consumption of energy. This laptop doesn t have the optical disk drive and the overall situation is more complicated if the factory settings are changed.

You now have on the HARD drive is nothing but the jungle and to me, it seems pretty confusing.
If you checked s user manuals document you can find the exact explanation, what can be done with the recovery image saved on the second partition and what type of recovery media can be created.

Recovery image is not designed for use with third-party applications part so it can be problematic to create USB recovery drive.
Thread you link posted is better thread on this topic and if this will not help I really don't know what you can, except for ordering original Toshiba recovery DVD and make the installation of OS to get the factory settings again.

  • Yet when can WT8 - A - I create a USB recovery?

    Hello.

A newbie here and must I say, I had a heck of a job, find the button 'open a new topic '.
I only found it by chance which has landed on the right page.
    Anyway, back to my request.

I always have a brand new Toshiba WT8A still in the box.
    Here another must be told.

I had possession of this unit about a week ago and to cut a long story short, at the suggestion of a drop-down notification of Toshiba I downloaded and installed a BIOS update, it went well.

I was then advised to download and install the update of the installer of Intel. It went well until to half way through and then everything froze, the screen went black and stayed like that for over half an hour or two. When it looked like not commissioning again I tried to start it by pressing the power button on the side, but instead of putting on and working, I got a nasty blue screen informing me that Bitlock had locked my tablet... I panicked!

In my desperation, I have absolutely violated the internet solution to notice that the only solution was to recover the operating system, but the problem was that I didn't have a USB recovery.

I was lucky that Toshiba was kind enough to take possession of the mortared Tablet and restored the device to its factory for me.

So you can see a USB recovery is essential, but the question, at what point can I create them as we know that as soon as you begin to configure things, are supported by internet downloads and everything screams it must be updated and you are bombarded.

To be honest, I'm terrified to BitLock upward again. The irony is that I was not anywhere near BitLock that I know about in its use or its application, but from what I've gleaned, it seems the update Intel had invoked the locking identify what he perceived as a potential problem after that the BIOS updated... or so it has been suggested.

I'll start another post with questions about the BitLock, for now, it is a question of recovery USB and welcome all responses. Do I get messages when a response has been added because I see not a checkbox to request this service. ?

    Concerning

Recovery must be created initially in the best cases after the Tablet has been configured.
The recovery media contains the image of Toshiba, but the recovery media won't back up your current data or setting. It's very important.

Leash so assume you got you filed using this Toshiba recovery procedure.
After this recovery process the tablet will be set to factory settings to the same State as the first date of purchase

Hope I could clarify this issue.

  • Recovery image NB 305 on SD card

I did a little experimentation and I would like to share the following:

I managed to create a usable recovery image by doing the following.

    1. buy a micro SD 8 GB card, place it in an SD adapter. (or buy a 8 GB SD card)
    2. Insert the SD card in the usual place.
    3. run the software Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.
    4. leave the default USB option selected under backup media.
    5. let the course ends.

    To check if you have:
Re-start your nb305 with the inserted SD card, press F12 to start screen and choose the obvious option to boot USB

You can safely abandon the re-store in the appropriate location until all the files are overwritten.

I tried this twice, once with a Kingston & once with a Sandisk card, both with 100% success.

    Hope this helps

Hey thanks for your ad. :)

If you have information more useful for NB 305 owners you are welcome.

  • A few questions about the recovery image installation

A recovery USB drive created using the Recovery Media Creator contains the Windows operating system and is it the Windows key to reinstall - how it is activated. Is it different for the repair disk.

Can be used for a new installation of Windows 7 on a new SSD? Is this just a case of connection and the recovery disc running on the new drive to th? How the recovery Partition can be re-created on a new SSD?

    Drop Hello

I can see user Justinian gave detailed answers, and I hope you understand how it all works now. Of my overwiev aside:

    What exactly is recovery image?
+ Recovery image is an exact copy of a hard drive and contains the exact copy, byte by byte, a hard disk partition. The copy includes all the partition information, sectors priming, the table of allocation of files, installation of operating system and software application different. +
+ You are using installation Recovery CD/DVD/USB, you can restore your system after heavy data loss, caused by an accident of operating system, hardware failure or complete virus attack. +
+ Recovery image installation procedure allows the installation of system and easy to user. Unfortunately, it is not possible to restore only certain files from a disk image. +
+ Each recovery image is designed for a specific model laptop and it cannot be used for any other series of notebook. +

With other words, recovery image is a software package that contains Windows operating system, all the drivers needed for some portable model, Toshiba tools, utilities, and also some other software. A lot of people don't like these additional software, but no you don't have to use it. all things you don't like you can remove it from the system.

    Activation of recovery image:
When you buy the phone model you also purchase the license for the preinstalled OS version that you get with your machine. After start and contact to the internet OS will be checked and activation will be valid.

Please note: you can reinstall original image recovery 100 times if necessary. There is not a kind of limitation, and whenever it will be activated.

Take care of your recovery media (DVD/USB). Do not lose it.

Of course, it can happen that you do not find your recovery media. In this case you can order.

  • Re: Satellite L505 - 10K - recovery image disorders instalation

    Hi guys!

Just try to reinstall Windows 7 with SO included in the score of my Toshiba Satellite L505 - 10K by pressing F8.

Everything was awesome! , but after installation, on first boot, just released on desktop windows 7, the system stops and restarts.

Now I'm trying to reinstall W7, but the option of it (by pressing F8) does not, and if I let it load windows allways shows "setting up windows for the first start '... Enter to windows and scream down automatically.

    A loop with the same.

Does anyone know how to solve, I would use the SO included in the partition, is possible to mw using a cd of W7, but think is not the right solution.

Thanks for all, and... Sorry for my bad English

    Greetings from the Spain!

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say why this is happening. Hard I guess.
In my opinion, you should install recovery image again. Have you created a recovery (DVD or USB) media to try again?

    • Choose options first "Download drivers"
    • You will need to enter the product #, choose the right unit.

  • Satellite L655-1GN - failed to install the new drive HARD original recovery image

    Hello

Just had to buy a new hard drive and put the latter with the former. I already checked that he was the same size and SATA as the original hard drive. When I tried to start a new installation of the operating system from the recovery disk (that I bought the Toshiba provider in my country - MAFIL), the boot option was not available.

MAFIL representative told me that the recovery disks only for the reinstalliation of the OS on the original drive, but are not suitable to install a fresh copy again. So, how can I install my Win7 64-bit, with all settings on the new drive and Toshiba apps?

    Thank you
    Tomer

On many models of laptops different change HARD drive or upgrade can be done by the owner of the laptop and after doing this, you can install recovery image using the disc of recovery without any problem.

I did several times on different models of Toshiba laptops. This works.
I really don't understand how someone can give you this information.

By default the BIOS settings, restart your machine and press F12 at startup. When the boot menu appears on the screen put the recovery disk ODD news, select CD/DVD as a boot device and press ENTER.
What happens when you do this?
