  I looked all over the Internet a Blackberry app that allows me to dial calls through my Blackberry using my desktop computer, while they are hooked together via the USB port. Surprisingly, it doesn't exist.

Another simple application would be to use the numeric keypad on the keyboard of my desktop computer to dial the phone number.   Welcome to the BlackBerry Java forum.

  I assume that you got a pot that will interface between Java and postgre, except if it has been written specifically FRO BlackBerry devices, then it will not work on BlackBerry unfortunately.  The code that I suspect you've got will only work on Java SE environments, not Java ME.

  The usual solution to this kind of problem is to write a middleware application, that supports http requests from BlackBerry converts it to the required SQL, executes the SQL, then the data for transmission back to the Blackberry formats.  This kind of solution is required for all databases, unless you buy a middle ware product that has already been built - and the only one that I have a conscience is the Sybase offers to iSQLAnywhere.    You will find other peoples comments if you search in the forum, I suggest you search for "SQL Server".

  I do not use ripple either but can see what the problem is (nothing to do with the ripple)

  Open your file config.xml for the new project (probably copied 'App A'?)

  In the widget section, change the id to something different, for example com.example.AppB

  Save - reload the ripple and make sure you have the new ID in the Config-> Widget

• The use of the standard features of Blackberry

  Please excuse my ignorance. I am very new to develop Blackberry applications. I use Eclipse that I have some experience with Java, although not much. Part of my problem is that I do not own a Blackberry, I'm doing this to help a friend. I spent the the last few days reading or watching the tutorials and passing by the code example and have now managed to create a couple of screens for my application.

  The only time I've ever seen anything like that on a Blackberry is on the 9550 Simulator provided with my Eclipse plugin. What I was wondering if there is a way for me to use the buttons as the standard buttons that I see on the Simulator or whatever I have to do my own bitmaps. Like these:--

  The function of 'transition' (sliding screenes in) is available on OS 5.0. See the Transitions API.

  You may not use these logos existing app (you called buttons?)-they are part of the RIM.

  You cannot use the toolbar existing - it must invent your own.

  Not wanting to not to repeat me, but there is no general way to get access to the Screen of another application object, unless you are on good terms with this application - which basically means that you have access to the instance UiApplication.  You cannot ask the operating system to get that to you, you must have a way to get you.  Which implies execution of something in the context of the Application.

  Even in this case, you may not be able to do what you want.  You will probably need to iterate over the screen and content managers and find the field you want, and even if it covers anything you understand (like BasicEditField) it still cannot handle standard things like setText in a way that is useful to you.  And you might not find fields you recognize, if you access a browser screen, I think you'll find there \are RIM not standard fields in there, so there is nothing you can interact from a standard application of the RIM.

  If you want to do this kind of treatment in General, that will deal with in a number of applications, you should watch event Injection.

  There may be other options for specific applications.  For example, you can simulate of electronic mail by writing a program that sends an email, rather than interact with the BlackBerry.  Or for the same application, if you try to test the headphones, then the listener has access to the UiApplication.  Aye, we be able to help you find approaches less General in some places, if we understand what you're trying to do.  This is the reason for the specific question that I asked in my last post.

  I'm developing my first Blackberry application and I'm trying to set up a kind of a tab page layout where a user would click on one of the 3 buttons on a bar of buttons at the bottom of the screen and a special screen based on the clicked tab or the button.

  That's how I'm currently trying to achieve

  I have a MainWindow() stretching screen that I add to the request.  I added a HorizontalFieldManager to this window I add 3 buttons.  Currently, it appears at the top of the screen, but finally, I would like to have it on the bottom of the screen.  In fact, I wish it were exactly like button bars, you see in the last OS you see on the screen of e-mail inbox.  Is it possible to use a built-in component of blackberry to have my buttons custom like this?

  I created 3 screens that extend the screen containing the appropriate for each particular form fields:

  -DataSubmissionScreen()

  -ReportingScreen()

  -PreferencesScreen()

  When a user clicks on a button, I want to add the relevant display in the remaining space in the MainWindow remaining after the button bar has been added.  However, whenever I try to add a screen MainWindow I get an IllegalStateException error when the program is launched.

  How can I get this feature of child screen on the Blackberry?  It would be more logical for my child 'screens' actually extend FieldManager instead of the screen and add THOSE of MainWindow?

  There is no concept of a "child monitor" in Blackberry. There is a single stack screen, and the screen at the top of the stack, period.

  You can push a screen on the stack, it becomes the top of the screen and appears.

  When you jump a screen, the following in the stack screen (if there is one). If you skip the last battery screen, your application will end (unless you plan to do this and avoid it).

• Using QNX Neutrino utility in 10 Blackberry app

  Forgive me if this is a dumb question (as almost certain) but I can't for the life of understand me how actually on the implementation of QNX Neutrino utility in a Blackberry 10 app.

  I am referring specifically to these utilities that are listed in the API reference alphabetically as simply "utilities".

  Documentation for them seems to take, Word for Word, to the documentation of QNX Neutrino.  It seems that they run some kind of command line, and I can't find an example or documentation of how it is integrated with a Blackberry application.

  Is the only way to access these public services by creating a BB app entirely from command line?  Are still available for use in applications of BB (as I said, the utilities of documentation on the site Web of BB does not seem have been written by and for the BB...)

  The only thing I could find is http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Native-Development/wpa-cli/td-p/1717577 who don't has not given me much hope, but that was before the recent/updated SDK updated release and is pretaining to playbook, not BB 10 SDK, so I don't know if it's 100% there...

  In fact I don't think that these utilities are primarily for use in an application, but rather for use by developers to develop, troubleshooting, testing, or other such things.

  In any case, if you need to use one of them in an application and were willing to bound your app for them even though there is probably no guarantee that they will be always present on the device, there are several approaches.  The most direct is to use the system() C library call.

  Hmm... I don't know why your BBM contacts are suspended.

  • I would try to backup your BBM contacts on your media card (open BBM > Menu key > Options > backup locally to media card).
  • Then, to delete BBM on your device in Options > advanced > Applications (options > device > Applications)
  • Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.
  • Now, reinstall BBM using your Blackberry browser to www.blackberry.com/bbm

  With a strong network carrier (e.g., no WiFi only), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... ( Please wait for this before moving on to the next step) :

  (1) registry HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
  • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

  (2) remove and return Service directories

  • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
  • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

  (3) restart to take batt

  • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

  I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile provider for formal support... they have yet to fill out some things about their "back-end" to complete the transfer of your services to your old BB to this news.
