use Workstation 6.5 images in ESX 4

Hello

I want to use an image that I created with vmware workstation 6.5 on an esx Server 4. but just download the picture wit vSphere 4 to the esx does not work. When I want to on the image, it says:

Cannot open scsi disk: 0: disc not supported or not valid type 7. If you forgot to import disc trees? Cannot create the SCSI device virtual scsi: 0, '... / filename.vmdk "DevicPowerOn power Module has failed in

is it necessary to convert the image or is there another solution?

VMDK format used by workstation can be used by ESX with small changes directly: momolithicFlat

See my site http://sanbarrow.com/vmdk-howtos.html#flattovmfs

all other formats must be imported first - converter either with vmkfstools and vmware-vdiskmanager

  • How to use iCloud in the image of the host for forum messages?

    I've just upgraded my Aperture library to Photos and spent three weeks to download all my photos on the cloud.  Now that they are on the rise in the cloud, I was wondering if I can use iCloud to host images for posting on internet forums and others?  Many of them will not directly let you download a picture, a link just here where she is already hosted (using the [IMG] tags).  In the past I had used SmugMug for this, but it seems silly to pay two subscriptions for the pictures of clouds (my library is big enough I'll have to pay Apple a monthly fee for additional storage space).

    I guess the way to proceed is to implement a shared Album and set it on the Public website.  It doesn't seem to be an option in the Photos app or site generated, to set the resolution of the images related to.  Any suggestions?

    Also: If you are going to edit the original photo, the shared up-to-date automatically version?  In my quick test convert the picture black white & in my pictures library does not change appearance of the image in the shared Album.  Sounds strange because it suggests Apple organize two versions of the image - one for me and one for sharing.  Surely, who double their storage needs?  If the photos are not synchronized, I might be better off just export those I want to publish on Flikr, or something similar (but free), which is correctly set up for what I'm trying to do.

    Thank you

    Yes.  It is the only way to share image files.

    The resolution is automatically set. iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support

    iCloud, photo sharing supports most of the formats RAW, TIFF, PNG, and JPEG photo. Once shared, pictures taken with your standard devices, reflex, or iOS devices will be up to 2048 pixels on the long edge. Panoramic photos can be up to 5400 pixels wide.

    Also: If you are going to edit the original photo, the shared up-to-date automatically version?  In my quick test convert the picture black white & in my pictures library does not change appearance of the image in the shared Album.

    No, you need to simply share the edited again version and remove the old version of the shared album.

    Shared albums use a different part of your library to iCloud iCloud. The storage of shared photos does not count against your iCloud subscription, but it is limited, see: iCloud: My Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing limit

    Hi Elizabeth,.

    Normally there will be a software provided by the manufacturer of the laptop computer or the manufacturer of the webcam to take pictures on the computer.

    You can see the laptop manual to check if the computer manufacturer has provided a software for visualization of the webcam on your computer and check if you have the option in the software to capture the image of the webcam on your laptop.

  • How can I use a refrence background image?

    Hello

    I need to register align horizontally and vertically) about 100 images to the first. I don't want to stack or to merge. An ideal way to achieve this would be to be able to put the first image as a background reference for all images image in the group. There would be left/right buttons so I could make progress through the stack, a slider to adjust the visibility of the foreground image and up/down and left/right arrows so I could move the top image one pixel at a time in all directions. In this case, I don't need to rotate the image, but that would be something, that a person might want to control. So I propose through the image group, stopping on each of them to align the image to the first. One at a time, or after I finished, it would save all images aligned to a new file name and folder, without change the transparency of the image or in any way using the background reference image. Without rotating the images, each pixel in the new image would be the same as in the original, except moved. I would like to start by resizing the canvas of all the images, so that they have a border area. This way I can move the image and not lose everything.

    Of course, I could put the reference image on the background layer and the image to set above her on another layer. Then I can use the bottom as a reference by the image of a little transparent top. Finially I could remove the background layer and save the picture with just the adjusted layer. But it's worse still love with 100 images, if there were 1000...

    Is there an ability to background reference image in Photoshop CC? Is there a better or a different way to do it? Or bridge can do?

    Your explanation changes everything. According to your original description, I assumed that placement of the image, no image content, was the criterion. Now, with additional details, may I suggest placing your reference image as the background and the image layer to join it on a layer above it. So, if you change the difference blend Mode, accurate record cancels all stars and present a solid black over the area. Use your arrow keys to get the image black overall. Then turn back to normal blending Mode. With the top layer selected, click in the upper right of the layers panel, choose Duplicate layer..., change the Document on new and name the file.

    In the example below claim the shutter speeds are stars.

    Note that you do not need to see the image of reference through the top layer. Difference blending mode confirm perfect registry.

    1. the image and duplicate. The two layers are perfect registry. Blend mode: Normal.

    2. image layer moved one pixel to the right. Blend mode: difference

    3. top layer image moved to the original position, pperfect registry. Blend mode: difference.

    (By clicking on the eye of the upper layer and will give you an idea of the approximate move to do at the beginning.)

    Hi gardenzio2,

    You can try using Adobe Photoshop

  • using more than 1 image of background tiles.

    -is it possible?  I would use an along the top and the other in most of my site.  They both that repeat along the x axis.

    I want to be able to have the main content area (blue dark area between the header and the lighter blue lower image) vertically adjustible.  You can set a background image to be beyond a container?

    Any suggestion would be great...

    -Julie Pogue Barnes

    JPB.jpg

    Yep, it's pretty easy to do. All via the use of background images and style sheet.

    You must use the blue striped image dark as on the body and the light blue background to a div container

    I have set up an example here:

    http://perrelink.com.au/Forum/sky/

    Look at the code and you'll see the css in the header of the document - see how it's done.

  • Workstation 7, nested VM and ESX 4

    Hi new to communities.

    I have read a load of articles here and google about it, but is seeking clarification on this issue.

    I've set up a test to study for my VCP 4 lab.

    I have install 2 x 4 ESX servers, installed on the workstation 7, they work fine, but VMware won't let me set Virtulisation here at equipment and always new chages software if I change the settings within parameters of workstations or in the Config file.

    This causes the problem I can not run a VM nested inside the ESX Server.

    I have Virtulisation enabled in bios and the ESX servers work perfectly and the two start very quickly.

    Is there a work around / difficulty of obtaining external VM to use hardware Virtulisation? This is only a test lab and purley to test. So am just looking for a blow dry / patch that could get this to work.

    I tried many changes for both interiors and external VM files including the line back door of the monitor in the config file, but without success.

    Thank you

    You have a processor of AMD family 0FH.  Due to a fault of AMD - V design which has not been set up to AMD family 10 H processors, Workstation 7 can't stand AMD - v on the family 0FH processors.

  • Mount an ISO Image on ESX - VM (own, similar to VI Client) with mks

    Hello

    I'm working on an application (c# .NET) that connects to a vmware esx server and the virtual machine console sending.

    I use the MKS - Lib (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1116657#1116657) to.

    Now I have to mount a customer-iso file to make it available inside the virtual machine, but it does not work.

    The method that I use is AttachRemoteCDROM and I became a true result and also the OnDeviceConnectionStateChange is triggered with the value true.

    But inside the VM is just empty, nothing mounted cd player.

    Here is the code I use to connect:

    string hostname = ESX_Data.IPAddress;

    int authPort = ESX_Data.Port; 902

    String vmCfgPath = VM_Data.VMPath;

    String username = ESX_Data.Username;

    String password = ESX_Data.Password;

    string deviceNode = "3000"; / / discovered by managed object Explorer (https://esxip/mob), is the cdrom device id

    bool imageISO = true;

    String localDevicePath = @ "H:\images\bootimage.iso";

    Console.WriteLine ("is connected before:" + this.axQuickMksAxCtl1.IsRemoteDeviceConnected (localDevicePath).) (ToString());

    bool ret = this.axQuickMksAxCtl1.AttachRemoteCDROM (hostname, authPort, vmCfgPath, username, password, deviceNode, rawDevice, exclusiveDevice, imageISO, localDevicePath); Console.WriteLine ("trying to connect:" + ret); Console.WriteLine ("is connected after:" + this.axQuickMksAxCtl1.IsRemoteDeviceConnected (localDevicePath).) (ToString());

    I hope someone can help me with this.

    Greetings,

    Florian

    K the thought of a couple of other things.

    (1) when you instantiate the control of Mks code how is it?  Looks of mine like that... QuickMksAxLib.IQuickMksAxCtl _mks = new QuickMksAxLib.QuickMksAxCtlClass ();

    I've never really got into COM, but from past experience, the Interface is access.

    (2) don't configure you your virtual machine with adequate support information?  I use VirtualCdromRemotePassthroughBackingInfo, deviceName = string empty and exclusive = false.

    I just wrote a simple console in two lines application which was successful, that's what I did

    1. Ref added to the QuickMks class in the COM tab in the references of VS

    2. MKS instantiated as shown above

    3. In the CROWD, I called the AcquireMks method

    4. Used the params returned to fill the AttachRemoteCDROM method

    5. Define my VM to use VI Client Device Client and Passthrough (non-exclusive)

    6. Called Attach method

    7. Leave the open form the session will end when MKS instantiation process ends

    After the call, I had an ISO mounted with happiness.  Now the steps above are codables, but to test that could help.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2298nr: when HP Recovery is not available... the system using Windows 8 as image backup?

    I would like to start with a big shout out to Paul T for his VERY useful thread here!

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/Windows-8-product-key-for-pavil...

    Family of a friend asked me to work on their laptop, because I know more about computers they do... they are people very well, was happy to help out, but true to form, like many PC users, they did not bother keeping the documentation provided with the laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2298nr), or they bother to burn recovery using HP DVD built in recovery software which is comes standard on laptops... If I am interpreting what HP's Web Site had to say about the laptop model HP Pavilion g6-2298nr, correctly, she is the serial number it is no longer eligible for free technical support and I have to pay a fee just to talk to someone and to order recovery of the HP DVD (family friend bought in Dec 2014 so it seems REALLY odd that I wouldn't be able to just order) DVD recovery without having to pay tech support a tax just to ask to order the recovery DVD!  .. But anyway...) ...

    Where was the product key "integrated" in the BIOS really comes in handy!   I crossed my fingers, used the method mentioned in the thread linked above, and it worked!   ... have to admit it was a bit strange at first, do not use the product key sticker like the old days, but I can see how it works better in the long term - helps prevent piracy, you don't have to worry if someone who do not realize the importance of product keys thumbnail it takes off and he throws...

    Unfortunately, it seems that when you reinstall Windows in this way, you lose the HP Backup and Recovery program ... in this case my friend family had the misfortune to pay someone to repair this laptop which has not bothered to tell them "Hey, I replaced the hard drive that goes wrong but if you don't get a laptop cooler for this sucker to the laptop just going to overheat again." ... of course, the money they paid what we call 'tech technician' who went down draining when the laptop fried a second drive hard, or maybe the tech them faced with a bad hard drive, who knows? (technology bought a hard drive OEM off ebay)...

    ... Sorry to sound harsh about this type of technology, I must confess I only worked in the field of PC repair for a few months more than a decade before letting him make a stay-at-home-dad (wife is a pharmacist so I'm lucky enough to be able to stay at home) so my experience is VERY limited compared to other people... but the back then I have always treated my customers the way I would treat a friend , and if it's a friend of you offer advice on the prevention of such problems in the future... this laptop gets HOT like you wouldn't, I seated him on a very reliable laptop cooler (slab thickness of aluminium which does a great job as a radiator with the fans, this one)

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16834953038

    "(and I left my friend's family know in no uncertain terms that they need to order this laptop cooler if they use this laptop...).

    Replace hard drive, I installed seems to work very well, but of course it is not an "official WD hard drive"... when I tried to install the software of cyberdirector photolink for example on the link below, received an error message "this is not a WD hard drive so cannot install this software"...

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-G6-2200-notebook-PC-series/5296082/model...

    that is fine I really don't think my friend family cares about this program... but it makes me wonder, even if I did trust the download at this link below

    http://www.TechSpot.com/downloads/5190-HP-backup-and-Recovery-Manager.html

    If program HP Backup and Recovery manager would work even first because it is not an official hard drive WD (I also ordered a hard drive OEM off ebay .. but does not support the family of my friend for the drive hard because they were good for my munchkins and did not want to pay through the nose for a more expensive hard drive so of course I tried to minimize my own...)... I also think the type of program is based on a "C" and "D" drive is set up as if it were when the laptop comes with the original hard drive and saves a copy of the backup on the disk "D"... I guess I could use disk management to create a different partition, label it "D" and see if HP Backup and Recovery work, but it seems a bit... questionable... not to mention that I feel uncomfortable to download something that is not directly on the HP Web site as an "official"... download

    I know that Windows 8 has a utility of 'image system' built-in that allows you to do exactly that... an image of the system... as I said my friend family is good people, but I'm guessing that sooner or later they're going to screw up this laptop by pulling again as do many users of the computer... it would be nice if I could burn a system image of what is on the laptop now on DVD and hang on, then when they come back to me screaming in the future ' help, laptop does not work yet! I can just restore the system image on DVD instead of having to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows, graphics/audio/drivers etc., zillion Windows updates and an etc. all over again.

    What I was asking, that is... would this even work?    I have never tried to use the image of the system in a situation like this with the product being key ' built in ' BIOS, this kind of thing is brand new to... worth me burning the DVDs and hung their just in case where?

    Sorry for the long essay and thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to read all this!

    Hello:

    Yes, which makes a system image will work.  I do it all the time.

    PC GE set up the way you want and make the image of the system and the usb drive recovery you'll need access to the system image, or you can use W8 OEM disk made you (via the menu to repair your computer at the bottom left of the screen install Windows when you start from the DVD) to boot from, and access to the system image.

    If you have the DVD you have to more than one.  Probably not less than 4.

    But as much as to try to submeter a recovery partition, which is not going to work.

    I am very surprised that you cannot order a set of recovery discs HP online at the link below, last line labeled order recovery media.  Some people have reported trying to enter information such as the serial number and the link is dead.  But nothing venture nothing have nothing.

    http://h22207.www2.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-G6-2200-notebook-PC-series/5296082/model/5333338

    If this does not work, you can have your friends order a set of this provider no HP...

  • How can I determine the type of image to be used before loading an image?

    I'm developing an application using VB 2005 which measures two 8-bit or 16-bit image files. When I saw the picture, I find that I have to set the type of image the image buffer before playback of the image in it. For example, if I read a 16-bit image in a buffer of 8 bits, the image is truncated. I guess I could read the image in a 16-bit buffer and retype it if the pixel values are less than 255.

    Is there a better way to do it? Can I determine the number of bits of an image before loading in a buffer?

    Thank you!

    Hi Steverino,

    Olivia is incorrect... VDM has a function called GetFileInfo which does just what you want. It only reads the header of the image but does not load the entire image in memory. It will give you various properties such as the bit depth.

    I think that on the new .NET support, there can exist here: NationalInstruments.Vision.Analysis.Algorithms.GetFileInformation.

    Thanks to the ICB and our legacy of .NET support, it's probably a similar name.
