Hi Jniles,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Do you have connected to your computer as an administrator?

User Account Control (UAC) notifies you before changes are made to your computer that require administrator-level permissions. The default UAC notifies you when programs try to make changes to your computer, but you can change how often UAC notifies you.

Open user account control settings by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click change user account control settings.

I have all the Spotlight options switched immediately, but ever since the last update of the firmware (9.2.1) more time when I search for an app, nothing comes... I have 'Suggestions' allowed to. I tried to turn it off and restart my iPhone 6 and re-labeling (I saw that somewhere as a benchmark), but it did not help.

Try resetting your device. This will not erase your data stored on that device.

    • Press and hold the sleep/wake button
    • Press and hold the Home button
    • Press and hold both buttons until the display turns off and on again with the Apple logo on the subject.

Alternatively, you can go to settings - general - reset - Reset all settings

If that doesn't work, restore your device to factory settings. Please note that this will delete the data on your device.

Take a look this Apple Support article: use iTunes to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

As a final step, try recovery mode. Turn off your unit, then plug it to your computer with the hold home button. Hold down Home button until you see the logo of iTunes on the screen of your device. After that on your computer, you should see the iTunes window saying that your device needs to be restored to factory settings. Click Restore.

I keep asking myself for permission to copy the files, etc.  How can I turn this off?

    Hi Kasggr,

You are be prompted for approval because of her User Account Control (UAC) and it is not wise to turn off UAC.

User Account Control (UAC) is a feature in Windows that can help prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. This UAC asking your permission or an administrator password before performing actions that may affect the operation of your computer, or that change settings that affect other users

By verifying these actions until they start, UAC can help prevent malicious software (malware) and spyware from installing or making changes to your computer without permission.

    Hi Cynthibill,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forum. I understand you want to get rid of the UAC popup message.  I guess this must be difficult for you. I would like to help solve you the problem.

Before troubleshooting, provide us with information.

    1. is the issue limited to Windows live mail?

    2. what security software is installed?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

I want to let you know that you can use the slider control (UAC) user account settings to change UAC settings.

How can I change the behavior of user account control by using the slider? : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-change-the-behavior-of-User-Account-Control-by-using-the-slider

Note: User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.

  • User account controls

I have several programs that I use to make different types of scan on my computer (for example, viruses, spyware, etc.).  When I select and run these programs manually, a user account appears asking whether to allow the program to make changes to my computer.  I understand that this warning is generated by my AU setting recommended by Windows to warn if other programs want to make changes to my computer.  How this works in the case of the regular scans, without assistance, I put in place?  In other words, I don't see how Windows can perform the scheduled scan if the Notify parameter generates a warning to pop up that I have to answer 'Yes'.  Do I put the warning down to allow any program to make changes to my computer that violates the windows of this setting recommendation?

    Hello!

It is not a way to define exceptions for the UAC (such as building a list of approved applications).

You can create a scheduled task and run this task, whenever you want to run the program without the UAC prompt.

Here is a step by step guide:

  • How can I customize "User Account Control" to allow some software "Unknown Publisher" to run without the warning/error message in Windows 7?

I have been using text editor NoteTab Pro at least a dozen times a day for almost 10 years. How can I work around:"CONTROL USER ACCOUNT you want to allow the program following an unknown Publisher to make changes to this computer?"

    Hello Kenoodle,

Right-click on the executable NoteTab Pro.  There, click on properties.  Select the Compatibility tab.  It check the box to run as admin.  Click OK.  It should stop the guests of the UAC.

  • Anyone else having programs crash after installation of Sierra?

I just installed Sierra on an iMac mid-2012. A lot of programs crash after installing Sierra, of Apple's native applications. Anyone else having similar problems? All possible solutions?

    Thank you

    Hi guitarno,

Thanks for the upgrade of your iMac to macOS Sierra! I understand that your Mac works more slowly as it did before the upgrade. You can try to start up your Mac in Mode without failure.

    What is safe mode?

Safe mode (sometimes called secure boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks and prevents certain software from loading automatically or opening. From your Mac in safe mode does the following:
Check your startup disk and attempts to fix problems if necessary directory
    Loads needed kernel extensions only
Prevents elements start and the login items open automatically
    Disables the user installed fonts
Delete font caches, hiding the kernel and other files of the system cache
Together, these changes can help resolve or isolate issues related to your startup disk.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

After successfully started upward in safe mode, check to see if you have any login or startup items. Here are the apps that run as soon as you turn on your Mac and continue to run in the background that can slow down the performance of your Mac.

macOS Sierra: If you think you have incompatible connection points

You can also check that your Mac has enough disk space for the smooth Sierra BONES. Under macOS Sierra, it's easier than ever to free disk space! Take a look at this link. Information System for Mac: optimization of the storage on your Mac

Once these tasks are completed, restart your Mac normally and then test the performance. I'm sure you'll see a difference. Please use the Apple Support communities to post your question.

    Good day.
