Using 'old' with a new installation of Oracle 11 g ODBC drivers

Hello

We run an Oracle-DB with 10.2.0.3 (32 bit) and a couple of Clients-ODBC (all 32 bit) (too many versions, Te 10i, 9i, 8i,...?)

Now we intend to change the server to be an Oracle 11 g 64 bit Installation.

Y at - it all available information that customers should be able to connect against this new Db - Oracle 11g Server?

Thanks for any suggestions, but not the recommendation of change all the clients to be 11g - customers.

Mark

Assuming that you have Metalink, the next note will tell you what to be and never was supported with regard to client/server compatibility:
Note.207303.1 Client / Server / Support of interoperability between different Versions of Oracle

It will be useful,

  • Installed new HARD drive with the new installation of XP, old HDD ShowAs saw as the active partition, how to change this?

I installed a new HARD drive with a new installation of Windows XP Edition family. I want to keep the old HDD and reformat the drive, but I can't because the second HDD is listed as active in the management of the computer. Why? It's not the drive that contains the operating system (Windows XP) that is initialized from.  I put the BIOS such that the new HARD drive is the boot drive. The old HDD has Windows XP on it, but isn't the startup disk. I just don't understand.
If only the new HARD drive is installed, the computer management doesn't show that it or any other of its partitions are the active partition (C drive is listed as the system partition, of course).

How can I get an active partition and no active partition when the new HARD drive is installed on a HARD drive that is not the boot drive, when I have two hard drives installed?

In case it is necessary, the new HARD drive is a SATA and the old HARD drive is IDE with the cavaliers as a slave.

The system partition is the Active partition. The system volume contains the system files needed to start Windows, Windows XP, these system files are:

    NTLDR
    Boot.ini
    NTDETECT.COM
Ntbootdd.sys (present/used only with older SCSI controllers)

Windows files are not necessarily on the system volume, they can reside on another volume, when on a different volume this volume holding Windows files is called the boot volume.

When you install Windows on a computer, playing a mixture of IDE and SATA setup discs tends to favor with IDE drives on SATA drives and tends to use the IDE drive to house the system partition, (even if Windows is installed on a different drive).

Running the command SYSTEM SET at a command prompt may shed some light on the problem...

You understand that you will not be able to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7?  He will have to do a clean install.

The Council supports Windows 7, you can get the drivers here (the chipset drivers should be the first drivers you install after installing the operating system.)

  • Updated Windows and transfer to the new computer with a new installation

Hi I have an office of aging that I plan on upgrading within 12-15 months. I am currently under W7 and want to upgrade to 8.1. When I finally buy my new material under a BONE, me will be possible to transfer 8.1 overall with a full installation and not an image copied from my current position?

    Thanks for the tips

To clarify my last sentence: If you buy Windows 8.1 full and use it to upgrade your old machine (Win 7), later when you buy your new computer and install 8.1, you will need to remove the old computer (it can only be activated on a PC at the same time).  So if you were to sell your old computer, legally you have to withdraw Windows 8.1.

  • Preservation of the presets with a new installation

I'll take a built entirely new computer. I'm upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7.  When I upgraded to CS5 to CS6 on my current computer, I said yes to preserve the old presets. But how it will work on a new computer? And, in fact, all my versions of Photoshop that goes back, I don't remember how long have been updated. How this is handled with a new computer? I have the installation discs for CS3, CS5 and CS6. I don't know about older versions.  So, two questions here: 1. How is managed installation CS6 if everything I had for the last who-knows-how-long is upgraded. I started with one of the very first Photoshops. And 2. How to preserve the presets it took me a year to work on CS5, as well as my gazillion actions and who knows what else?

Just save the settings using the flyouts in the respective palettes for brushes, styles etc. to external files. During installation, you simply install CS6 - it will ask for the serial number CS5 for verification.

  • Fixed a crash issue repeated with a new installation of Firefox on Windows 8.1 28

It is not so much a question as a contribution to the solution.

On a new computer running Windows 8.1 a new installation of Firefox 28 has been repeatedly crash or freeze ("no response"). Loading pages can be slow and scrolling in staircase. Totally unusable, especially after playing content with Shockwave.

Although I had not installed the plug-ins outside Shockwave and Adobe Acrobat, I have had a look and was surprised to see that I had never asked. I disabled those I don't think I need:
    Intel's Identity Protection technology
    Photo Gallery
WildTangent Games App alarm presence V2.

Since these disabling Firefox works well. But I was forced to use another browser for a week until you find the time to research the problem.

Why are these called not - for and of course (at least one) annoying plugins installed by default? It does not have any good Firefox!

Plugins are not included in the Firefox download, because Mozilla is not allowed to distribute. Firefox automatically detects the plugins on your system through a number of methods, so it was a good idea to revisit and disable those you don't need. I have really no idea whence the special ones.

  • Upgrading HP HPE H8-1070uk to SSD using the mirror or new installation?

I bought my H8-1070uk this time last year (Oct 2011) and decided to upgrade with an SSD.

SSD of choice is Samsung 803, 2.5 inches Sata III 6 GB/s, 128 Gb. including the kit of accessories and Norton Ghost.

Can we see problems with this choice for my office?

Important information to take into account for the following questions, it's that I did a restore of complete system only 1 months ago. Recovery system was conducted using disks system recovery DVD created via HP Support Assistant at the time of purchase. I also upgraded from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM only 1 week ago.

I want the SSD as a boot drive for my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS, as well to run my applications of 3D animation; Autodesk Softimage, Autodesk Mudbox and master of Adobe Creative Suite 6 thus than some other apps from day to day. Then use my HARD drive existing as a second car for the media and personal files, etc.

Copy all my personal files (videos, photos, documents, etc.) on a drive external hard, my HARD C: drive partition is currently at 92 GB used space (I imagine that I might be able to find that a bit smaller) and Partition D: 10 GB 11 GB used.

My basic question is what would be the best for my system and for the future, to create a mirror using the Norton Ghost software or do a clean install?

Own Samsung promo videos of the 830 Norton Ghost seems very honest and will create a complete copy of my HDD to the SSD, fair enough.

However do a few minor readings, there seems to be a fair few who suggest that in order to get the best of the SSD is to do a clean install. I don't really know how I would go to this topic but, would it not as simple as the insertion of the SSD, remove the HARD drive temporarily and then start using the system recovery DVD discs to create the clean install?

What would be the recommendation of HP?

Tips, tricks or general recommendations on this process would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, also is there a slot specific SATA, that I should connect the SSD or are they the same?

    Thanks for your time,

    Steve

Many before you have tried mirror/clone the OS for the SSD and ran into problems. A search on this forum or the internet should indicate what has been tried and failed. There seems to be no direct way to do what you want. The method below doesn't require activation and reactivation if you change most of your hardware as would be normally will not happen if you are using Windows with a standard COA key.

It is a completely clean install and will require the installation of the drivers and software HP, if you chose for her, she.

    (1) download and unzip ABR beta for Windows 7. This is the homepage of ABR for Windows Vista. Please follow the section "How to use" for information and instructions on how to use it. These steps also apply to Windows 7. The 'activation' on your original with factory HP OEM Windows installation hard disk backup, backup the backup files in several locations (USB stick, SD card, external hard drive, etc.).

    (2) download your version (the version that has been preinstalled on your HP computer) Windows 7 from Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River. Using the built-in Windows 7 CD/DVD burning software, burn the ISO image of Windows 7 downloaded onto a DVD.

    (3) install Windows 7 from your new "Windows 7 disk" to your SSD, following all prompts as needed. Do not enter a product key Windows and do not allow Windows try to scoped. After the windows installation is complete, run ABR 'restoration of activation' to 'install' the previously saved until the product key and the certificate. Verify that Windows is activated, if not activated... repeat "restoration of activation" until Windows 7 is activated.

    Good luck.

    Hey

We want to use a new server and a new installation of virtual center 4 to connect to our existing ESX 3.5 servers. am I right in thinking I can disable DRS and HA, then simply disconnect them from the old server and connect them to the new server? then we will upgrade the tools of virtual machine on virtual machines and then the real hosts go to 4.

    its ok?

  • Minor problem with the New Installation of Windows 7 on my Inspiron E1705/9400 - two entries for "Base system device" under "Other devices" with yellow exclamation point

    Hello

First of all, let me tell you about my system.   It is of a laptop Inspiron E1705/9400 with the Core 2 Duo T7400 processor clocked at 2.16 GHZ.   It has 2 GB of RAM and a hard drive on the Hitachi Travelstar nine 500 GB (7200 RPM).   It also has the GeForce Go 7900 GS video card.    Previously, it had Windows XP Professional (32 bit) and worked well.   But, I have three computers in my home and Home Office and would they work better together on my wired home network, so I'm upgrading all three to Windows 7.   My two desktops (a Dimension XPS 420 and the other Dimension XPS 430) seem like they will be no problem to upgrade to Windows 7.   But, this laptop was not on the list of Dell Windows 7 compatibility.   However, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that I have downloaded and run seemed to say that it was OK to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit and he had only a few minor issues, where it says search the drivers updated from the manufacturer.   Initially, the laptop came with a 100 GB hard drive.   For my use, which becomes very small, so I decided to get the exact same 7200 RPM drive 500 GB size.   This will allow me to do a clean install of the 32 bit Windows 7 OS on the new hard drive and not have to wipe the old disk to do so.   I can just keep the old HD and paste it back whenever I need to get something out of it.

So, here's my minor problem.   After the transfer of some elements off the coast of the old hard drive, I installed the new 500 GB drive and installed a cleaning of the 32-bit version of Windows 7.    I'm happy to announce that I have not had virtually no problems with installation and everything seems to work fine.   He seems a little more zippy than before and I have not met so far that doesn't seem to work.   I went through most of features and almost everything is superb.   But there is a minor problem, showing in Device Manager.   At least, I think it's a minor problem, but maybe someone can give me feedback to know if she is or not.

In the Device Manager list, there is a category called "other devices" now and the icon shows a little white circle with an exclamation mark.    When you expand this category, you see two identical entries that say "Base system device" and the icon has a yellow circle with an exclamation mark inside.     I know from experience that it is not a good thing to see items in the device manager that have a yellow circle with an exclamation point.   I clicked on both of them and neither one really tells you what the device is, or who did what is site you would go to a driver.    On the general tab, it has the following information:

    -Device type Other devices

    Reference of the manufacturer- Unknown

                         Location     -         Bus PCI 3, device 1, function 3

Under device status, it says the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information

To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

Each of the entries seem to be almost the same thing... but not exactly.   The other has the location

list PCI Bus 3, device 1, function 2... instead of function 1.   This seems to be the only difference.

I tried the button to update the driver, but that doesn't seem to work.   No matter if you say it looks like your

computer or to look for a new driver from the internet, it does not find anything.     As I said at the beginning,

the system seems to work very well... but, given that I don't know what this device is or does, I might be missing something.

He drives me crazy just have these yellow circles with exclamation point hanging out in my device manager.

I could really use some help here.    Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bryan Ray (Richmond, WILL)

BTW, I just downloaded and installed the driver pack from this ftp location and it worked, even for Windows 8.1 - 64 bit.

    Thanks Steve!

    Roger

  • Installation of Windows 7 very smooth with the new installer

Last night, I installed Windows 7 on my NB205. I used the "Toshiba for Windows 7 Installer", which is available for download from their support site. This utility download the drivers needed and patches and automatically installs. The installation was very good. I used my NB205 all morning and everything seems fine. Even the function keys are integrated with the Flash card utility.

I have partitioned my drive and set up a dual boot so I can still use Windows XP with an old USB TV tuner, I have, when needed. (This happened very convenient when I had a power failure during an ice storm a few years ago. Unfortunately, my laptop battery only lasted for 2 hours at a time. With the NB205 I'll be able to handle a much longer blackout).

And then you run this file to get the downloads?
