using recovery drive after upgrade to 8.1 pro via the pro pack

I ordered a HP envy 15 TS precoonfigured j - 100 quad system during Black Friday pre sales - this machine has everything I need except Pro 8.1. I intend to upgrade the operating system to 8.1 pro by buying and installing the Pack Pro Micorsoft Windows 8.1.

My questions are:

(1) only the installation/upgrade generates a new file recovery?

(2) if my system breaks down and I need to reinstall windows 8.1 via the recovery disk, what is the sequence of steps to restore my system Pro 8.1.

Upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1 does not generate a new recovery file. I suggest that you create a recovery disk before moving on to the pro.

If the system breaks down in the future, you can use the recovery disk and restore the system as long as the plant and try the upgrade to pro again.

Alternatively, if you pass successfully to pro, you can also create a backup of the system. Using this, you can directly restore your system to Pro in the event of system failure. For back system procedure, see the following link:

  • creating recovery media after upgrade to 8.1 window

Hello friends. I have a lot of confusion. I bought a laptop on December 2012 with window 8 preinstalled and created the recovery media about 6 or 7 months later. And now, I upgraded my system to window the window store 8.1. And now again I would create a recovery media for windows 8.1. So my question is if I create recovery media on a flash drive usb and if in the future I want to reset my pc or reinstall my system, I'll make window 8 or 8.1 on my system. I'm not a computer expert. If anyone can help me please. Thank you.

    Hello:

    You will get Windows 8.

If you want to do a recovery W8.1 image you can do the following...

You can create a system image in W8.1 and save it on a portable hard drive or set of DVD as you might in W7.

Instead of making a bootable cd as in W7, you need a boot flash drive boot. You can use a flash drive to very small capacity (256 MB) for the startup recovery W8 flash player.

Check out these links for more information.

Create the image of the W8.1 system:

    http://www.hanselman.com/blog/CreateACompleteSystemImageBackupWithWindows81AndFileHistory.aspx

Create bootable W8.1 flash player to access the system image.  Don't forget, you can use this drive, you can boot from it and access the system image you created on DVD or a portable USB hard drive.

  • System Restore error: "the changes to the G: drive after this point cannot be reversed, because the drive has been either excluded from monitoring system restore or has been disabled or deleted.»

I had some problems with my computer recently I knew could be solved with the system restore.  Then I went into system restore and went to a restore point that was a few weeks back.  After I clicked on it and pressing the ok button, the following message appeared: "the changes made to the G: drive after this point cannot be reversed, because the drive has been either excluded from monitoring system restore or has been disabled or deleted.»  I let it continue and do the restore.  My computer has rebooted and came up with an error in system restore that says restore failed.  It's the same thing with other restore points.  I don't know why I get this error because I not made any changes to this hard drive except for copy of a document word on him.  I thought that the System Restore monitors removable disks.  Anyone know what is happening here and how I can get the restoration of the system to operate without the mistakes to come?

I have Norton.  Disable the Tamper Protection works.  I also noticed that since the G: drive was a portable hard drive, System Restore wanted to exercise oversight.  He wants to monitor all hard drives.  Turn on external and portable hard disks prevents tracking system restore changes to the readers.  I don't think anyone would have the system restore review external drives anyway.  It is not necessary.

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: can I use the recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    HII!

IM thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N and I ran the pre-upgrade of windows vista from microsoft website and it says that my system will be in charge of windows vista so im ok about it.

The problem is that if my laptop was to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD provided by toshiba to work always on the laptop with windows vista?
They will return the laptop for windows xp or from my laptop has another operating system they will not work?

    Also...
    What's the deal with BIOS? : S
    I don't understand!
If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
As I download the new drivers before upgrading Yes?

    Thank you!

The restore CD will of course work.
The recovery CD will always set the laptop back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HARD drive will be formatted and the image of Toshiba will be installed.

    > What's the deal with BIOS? I put t understand!
    > If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
To my knowledge, that this laptop was already shipped with Vista, so you need not update the BIOS if you want to reinstall Vista.

Some series Satellite A200 needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such cases, it s advisable to upgrade the BIOS to version XP first, then install OS X.

  • HP Touchsmart 23-d055: do I need a new recovery disk after upgrade to Windows 10?

I upgraded my 2 years, HP Touchsmart in Windows 8 for Windows 8.1 for Windows 10. It took me 6 hours to run all of these updates.

Now, HP Support Assistant keeps reminding me to create an image of system recovery. But when I run the recovery media creation utility, it warns me that he goes back to the original operating system (Win8). Is it possible to create a recovery image system for my machine on Windows 10?

I know that Windows 10 now has an automatic recovery partition. But I am concerned by the failure of the disk, which would make this unnecessary partition. Last year, when I've upgraded to win 8.1, I had an alteration of the disc that has occurred without known reason. I lost everything on the PC and to restore Win 8, and I've never touched the PC up to 10 Windows free update is out.

I created a USB Win8 recovery disk when I got the machine. This is my only alternative? I suppose that if I ran the recovery media creation utility, it would recreate just the same.

BTW, I know that HP has here a document, but it does on computers provided with Windows installed 10.

Thank you for your help and experience.

Since no one has replied with an answer to my question, I've finally worked it on my own. I learned that you cannot make a new recovery disk system after the upgrade to Windows 10, if you had already created one when you got your machine under Windows 8.x

Context: after upgrade to Windows 10, the HP Support Assistant kept prompting me to create a system recovery disk.  I did one when I got the machine 2 years with Win8.  I didn't replace my original recovery disk, so I went out and got a new 16GB USB flash drive. When I inserted this new drive and attempted to create a recovery disk, the PC told me I couldn't do one, because you are allowed to make a recovery disc by PC.

So it was kind of stupid that after completing the upgrade of Windows 10, HP Support Assistant tells people to do. It should just check itself and see if a disc has already been done. All this anguish for nothing!

  • Stream7 create a recovery media after upgrade to win10

unboxed my stream7 a few days earlier and let it update and got the 'time to get win10' icon in the systray.  I created win8.1 media restoration until I take the not... so I can go back to a clean win8... because I have now about free 3.5gig after the upgrade on mem drive.  (it's why I want create recovery win10 media... I have none left of disk space!)

In any case, when I try to create a restoration of win10 disc... I select the check box for the system files and it works a little butthen I get this cryptic message on the screen and a button 'Finish'... but no recovery drive.  If I do not select the system files, it will erase the disk and copy data to it, but this isn't a recovery disk... There is no need to re install win10.  This is win8.1bing, so I can't use the creator of media 10 victory as I have no key... I have to use the recovery media.

any ideas?  I really like win10, but I need my space rear disc and I want to get rid of all the win8.1 on the driv cruft.

    Thank you.

To answer my own post... Apparently, simply wait 12 hours. (He was not an update, at least I think... I got the auto update service stopped and the Tablet off all night)

When I tried again this morning... It took about 2 hours, but he had completed the restoration of the road. Another 2 hours and it increased by win10 running, but the screen would not rotate automatically. The fix for that float around these forums. Basically you reinstall the driver win8.1 for HP accelerometer. And boom, in fact.

  • No longer recognizes my Seagate Expansion drive after upgrade to El Capitan

I upgraded this morning to El Capitan. Before that in so doing, I took care of my backup Crashplan was full then removed all of my external drives. I have three following readers:

    (1) Seagate 2 TB portable backup more (for important storage images/documents/videos so I can work between home and College)

    (2) Office of more than Seagate 3TO backup drive (for part of my Crashplan backup - I also backup to Crashplan central in the cloud)

    (3) Seagate to 5 Expansion Drive (to store old files, which are now copied on the 2 TB drive now, and I have not used this drive in age anyway)

Note: nothing is really stored on my Mac hard drive, I keep almost free and save memory for the app

As all the files in the disk of 5 TB are now on my 2 TB drive, and is in turn supported up to 3 TB drive using Crashplan, it's now redundant, I wanted to wait that I upgraded to El Capitan to format the disk of 5 TB, so it is compatible with Time Machine and make another backup and Crashplan.

But after that I've upgraded to El Capitan, I plugged it all readers of my back in and adopted the new HD in Crashplan (as their FAQ instruct). Except that only 2 of the 3 discs are now recognized. The 2 TB and 3 TB drives appear fine, but the 5 TB drive appear not at all.

What can I do to resolve this and get the drive to be recognized? Or just Apple cost me €160 with this upgrade?

The drive appears in the disk utility?

  • HP envy 17 can not boot windows or using recovery DVDs after the replacement of the motherboard

Hi all, I need your help

first of all sorry for my English but I'm from Greece. I really don't know a lot about the mobile only very basic computer.

I have a hp envy 17 3d 2080en with windows 7 Home premium which, after overheating, chips to the motherboard. I ordered and installed a used motherboard from China (part 630793-001 hp number).

After that I tried to start the laptop, but when he opens he said probably due to the change of the material he cannot start windows normally. After reading a lot on the internet, that I tried using the recovery DVDs I had prepared before the problem, but they will not start just yet. Then, I tried to use the cd system repair but again no luck.

I looked in the bios as some people say on the internet and realized that the product number and serial number are different from those of my laptop and it's maybe part of the problem, but I don't know. I looked in other posts about similar problems, but did not get a definitive answer and this is why I post for your help.

    Thanks to you all

    Nikos

IF YOU HAVE AN HP LAPTOP (MINE IS HP ENVY 3D 2080EN) THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED THE MOTHERBOARD WITH ANOTER ONE (MINE WAS FRIED OVERHEATING) AND AFTER REPLACING YOUR LAPTOP DOES NOT START AND YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH SYSTEM REPAIR DISC OR DOES NOT PERFORM A CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALL OR DON'T LISTEN NOT A RECOVERY CD/DVD RECOVERY THEN EXPERTS HP WHO KNOW NOTHING. LOOK IN YOUR BIOS, AND IF YOU SEE THE PRODUCT NUMBER OR SERIAL NUMBER DIFFERENT THAN THOSE APPEARING ON YOUR COMPUTER (USUALLY IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT) THEN GO TO A HP SERVICE ALLOWED AND TELL THEM TO HAVE YOYR TATTOOED BIOS. WITH THE TATOO (COST US $ 40), THEY WILL REPLACE THE NUMBER OF BAD PRODUCT AND/OR THE SERIAL NUMBER WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS AND YOUR PROBLEM IS SOLVED. MY MOTHERBOARD HAS BEEN FRIED TO OVERHEAT AND I BOUGHT A USED ONE FROM CHINA. AFTER I REPLACED IT THE LAPTOP WOULDN'T START AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO REPAIR DVD HE OR EVEN THE USE OF RECOVERY. I CALLED HP SUPPORT, I EVEN JOINED THE HP FORUM TO ASK FOR HELP AND I GOT ONE EXPERT WAS USUALLY TRY THIS OR TRY THIS. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. FINALLY, I READ AN ARTICLE FROM THE INTERNET THAT EXPLAINED THAT WHEN YOU CHANG THE MOTHERBOARD / SYSTEM BY ANOTHER THEN THE BIOS REFERS TO THE NEW PRODUCT NUMBER, MOTHERBOARDS AND/OR THE SERIAL NUMBER AND THIS WAY THERE IS INCOMPATIBILITY WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW WINDOWS TO START, YOU CAN NOT REPAIR WITH SYSTEM REPAIR DISC OR IT DOES NOT PERFORM A CLEAN WINDOWS INSTALLATION OR A RECOVERY CD/DVD RECOVERY. ONCE YOU TATOO THE BIOS THATS IT. THE LAPTOP WORKS. I HOPE THAT THIS MESSAGE WILL HELP SOME PEOPLE WAISTING THERE TIME AND SPEND THE MONEY FOR NOTHING

  • Partition recovery lost after upgrade to Windows 10 Tech Preview

When I bought my Acer Aspire E1 - 510P it came with windows 8 pre installed and there is no CD-ROM/dvd-rom in this laptop. Well, I installed Win 10 and it has messed up the windows 8 recovery drive, it installs the win10 whenever you get back so I lost my windows 8. Is not a big problem because I like window 10 now my problem is the windows 10 is to be free with the first year of sales, but because I don't have my pre installed win 8 that everything would be more I still get the 10 free victory.   The only way to get the rear windows 8 is buying for $50.00 acer recovery media, that I won't buy unless I absolutely have to.

So I still would be able to get the win 10 free?

    (1) the instructions about test Windows preview 10 said he would remove your ability to restore to the factory. Please ensure that you read the instructions more carefully.

    (2) you don't need to buy recovery for Windows 8 to Asus.  This would have all your drivers, but you can also just get the Microsoft recovery files directly, then go get the drivers from the Asus site.  This way you can make a free complete restoration.

    (3) regardless of the way you collect, you can always get Windows 10 free.
