Using Toad for Oracle

Hi all

I use Oracle 10 g worm. I am able to connect to this database using SQLDeveloper server.

I recently installed the toad.
I installed Oracle 10.2.0 Client to run the toad.
And as I read tnsnames.ora must be created in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.

But I don't see any network/admin directory structure in the $ORACLE_HOME.
I manually created this structure and place tnsnames.ora here.
The entries include the following:

DUMMY_LIVE =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS =
(PROTOCOL = TCP)
(Host = xxxx)
(Port = 1521)
)
(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = xxx)
)
)

When I run the Toad, oracle House (D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1) is shown as valid.
But when I connect to the database, the error "ORA - 12154:TNS: can not resolve the connect identifier specified" appears.

Is someone can you please tell me where I'm going wrong?
Where exactly should tnsnames.ora?

Thanks in advance,
Sandhya

When you installed the Oracle Client, you must select the admin option. Only then you can see the record of $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin created and then place your tnsnames.ora live there.

I don't know if this will help if you create this path manually.

    I'm using Toad for Oracle 10.5 and I don't have admin rights to any schema browser. I have a few questions about the copy of a diagram to another diagram. In addition, I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but if not please direct me in the right direction. If there are no links, son, etc. who can help me please provide for me so I can review. Is there a way to Toad for Oracle copy a DEV scheme to another scheme TST? Are there measures that can achieve this, or does an Admin process. I'm trying to implement this on my own rather than send the job to administrators in my Department. Thanks for reading and taking the time to help me with this.

    I think you can exp. IMP, in any case you are planning / decided to try it for yourself, which can dare to stop you from that... :))

  • App stack (Toad for Oracle) cause VM to black screen and disconnect?

    When we attribute our Toad for Oracle (12.6.0.53) stack, the user will receive see the connected virtual computer, but before I get into the office will get a black screen and disconnect.

    Now, if not assigned, the user can open very well.  When we assign the battery, apply immediately, the app looks and works completely fine.  So the app itself isn't a problem, but something that happens when you try to attach to what is.  How do I investigate what happens?

    Then I temporarily mounted a 2.5.0 environment and recreated the Toad for Oracle stack with the 2.5.0 release model.  And Yes, it works!  I imported the battery in my 2.5.2 environment and it is attached to the connection of the user without any problem of disconnection.  I think that this remark made in the SR as well.

  • After export to MS Access using ODBC for Oracle db database

    I exported a table with 300,000 lines of MS-Access using the "Export" option to ODBC databases to an Oracle db.

    It has created a table in Oracle with the same name as the Access db,

    Then a toad, I could see the data in the table. But when I run "Select * from table1", it says table1 doesnot exist. Also I couldnot "describe" the table.
    My wonder is that I could see the data and the columns using the toad.

    So I couldnot work on this table now

    This indicates that the table was created in lowercase characters. Try this SQL (through TOAD)

    select * from "dbo_pawdsrch_abst";

  • Oracle.Dataaccess.dll using unmanaged for 32 and 64 bit Winform application.

    Hello

    I am new to oracle ODP.

    I have a few questions about her.

    1. If I give the reference only and do not include gac Oracle.Dataaccess.dll (suppose 2.11.3.XX) in my project and the client system has the access.dll of oracle version 2.11.2.XX(or autres) then what happens?

    Be it use the 2.11.2.xx DLL to GAC or error.

    2. I need to create some app for 32 and 64-bit client then should I develop a version for two separate, or are there other alternatives (I can't use the managed oracle DLLS due to .net 2.0).

    I've already lost two days on managing versions of oracle as oci.dll ddll, oraop11s.dll etc.

    Please suggest any other alternative if you have

    Thank you

    I think that if you run an application on machine Win x 64 with AnyCPU, 64-bit .NET will be always charged. I don't think you can change this even if you try to load a 32-bit DLL. There may be a way, but I do not know myself.

    If you ODP.NET 11.2.0.3 on your system, I don't see why you need to install an earlier version of ODP.NET, such as 11.2.x

  • Error using nested for each activity group transform Oracle SOA 11 g

    I posted this problem in XML general forum section. I don't know if it was in the right place because the error occurs in a BPEL.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this thread.
    I created a XSLT transformation that runs on oxygen, but does not work in a SOA transformation activity.

    Given this XML-

    < country >
    < info enum = "CTRY" name = 'United States' States-total = "50" / >

    In a transformation of Oracle, I get an error "cannot perform XPath expression. I have narrowed down the cause of the error. The error is caused by
    the nested for each group - using 'current - group ()' and 'group-by=@index '.

    < xsl: for each group-select = "current - group ()" group-by="@index" >
    < xsl: Call-template name = "States" / >
    < / xsl: for each group->

    Oracle does not throw an error if I use ' Country/info' instead of ' current - group () or group-starting-with, but this does not produce the desired result.
    because he needs to be grouped by "@index."

    Does anyone know why the Oracle processing activity is not able to use the nested < xsl: for each group-select = "current - group ()" group-by="@index" >?

    This error has been fixed by modifying .

    It seems that the XSLT for Oracle parser does not correctly XSLT 2.0. This is understandable since in 11g does not have full support for XSLT 2.0.

    Hi all

    1)
    At the moment I am using Oracle 11g. I have a plan to import data from Oracle 10 g. I would like to know if its possible to import data that has been exported by datapump on Oracle 10 g?

    Can I convert somehow expdp out of Oracle 10 g Oracle 11 g format?

    2)
    The next question is. If I use expdp to create the dump of the database complete. Can I use *.dmp for import selected users? Or only the complete database can be restored?

    Yes, you can import dump 10g in an 11g database.

    Maybe you should take the time and read the section on datapump in the Oracle thin® [Database Utilities | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28319/dp_import.htm#i1007324] Manual.

  • How to export a direct particular schema for Oracle 10 g DB primary to another DB using expdp?

    You will find different stages because there are different ways of using expdp for different purposes.

    I prefer the utilities guide, because it helps you understand what combination of expdp and impdp to adapt to your needs and details all the options available.
