Using Windows 7 processor on ESXi 4.1

Hello

If I assign a guest Windows 7 6 logical processors in ESXi it shows only 2.  I think it's because Windows 7 does support only 2 Sockets.  This means - it does not use the other 4 processors?  If so is there anyway I can set it to several carrots as a single logical processors?

Thanks for the help.

David

This message indicates that you are looking for because I think.  It shows how to move the VM to carrots instead of processors.

  • vSphere client using the name Netbios on ESXi host does not connect using the credentials of a Windows session

I have 3 ESXi 5.5 hosts, all connected to a single server vCenter, where we try to authenticate directly to the host by using the windows logon credentials. I have installation of the Administrators group of ESX and filled with the admin accounts that I want to be able to authenticate to the host. The Netbios name of the domain is tstdomain (for example) where the domain name is tstdomain.com. If I connect directly to a host and check the checkbox 'Use Windows Session Credentials', the vSphere client will default by using the Netbios name of tstdomain\adminusername and the connection will fail indicating that the username and/or password is incorrect. If I enter the domain name of tstdomain.com\adminusername, I am able to connect to the host without error.

Does anyone know how get past that this matter have the vSphere client uses the domain name or to use the Netbios name and connect with the credentials to active directory? I looked by editing the file/etc/hosts and checked that the SPN of the host is correct in active directory with the command hostname setspn - l, with no luck on one. I also tried to change the field of research for the Netbios name of tstdomain rather than the tstdomain.com domain name, also did not work.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions on how to correct the problem.

Seems that this issue was due to a slow network and the connection timeout when you try to talk to the domain controller. I am able to connect with windows creds now, but the connection is very slow. I increased the default period of 30 to 60 seconds to help work around the problem.

  • Control / limiting the use of the processor

Operating system is Windows XP PRO with SP3 installed; specific computer is HP 8100 Elite w / Intel I5 VPRO processor; 4 GB OF RAM.

Are there options in Windows XP PRO, where the user can specify 'how' CPU usage is allowed, either by individual program or total usage?

If so, where they are updated?

I looked into different parts of logic; and can not find a way to do this.

Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

The use of the processor of the computer never seems to be "maximized" (rarely exceeds 30-50%) and I wonder if some setting somewhere preventing this use.

I ran MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, and ESET. and no malicious software is present.

Another thing to consider is that if you have a quad or a dual-core CPU, a single task tends to operate on only one heart.  So if it takes 100% of the CPU on one of four cores, the CPU meter will result in a reading of 25%, assuming that the other cores are idle.

Instead of the Windows Task Manager, you might want to try [freeware] Process Explorer.  It gives you much more information on what is happening in your computer.  Once you use it, you will never return to the Task Manager.

I use windows XP Home Edition. It takes awhile to start when I turn on the computer. How can I speed up this process?

    original title: slow start
    • Faster processor.
    • Fastest hard drive.
    • Faster or more RAM/memory.
    • Less things loading at startup.
    • Appropriate and the most recent hardware device drivers.

In XP, you can cleanup and optimize it in some way, by using the following tips:

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

  • Impossible to copy files to the Sansa Fuze using Windows 7 (drag and drop, or Windows Media Player)

    Hello

Yesterday, I bought the Sansa Fuze and I have problems copying files to the device using either Windows Media Player (Sync) or Drag and Drop (Explorer).

    The symptoms are:

    (1) the device is recognized and available in Windows 7 (Series USB MSC - sorry don't have it with me right now)

    (2) took me to upgrade to the latest firmware, which has worked flawlessly

    (3) when I try to drag and drop a file on the device (I use Windows 7, 64-bit), it starts, but doesn't seem to calculate the size of the files or waiting time to download correctly.  It is followed by a slow progressive, until the computer crashes, resulting in a constant 100% of the CPU.  The only solution is a hard reboot

    (4) when you use Windows WM, the device is recognized, okay and the synchronization starts, but it then stops without reason.  Once again, the processor springs and requires a reboot

    (5) using the results 3 and 4 in 1-5 files being copied across, but not more.

    (6) I tried several albums and one album at a time, but cannot determine if that makes a difference.

    Help, please!

    See you soon,.

    Richard

It may be a bug in Windows 7. But one thing to try is to go to the Device Manager (assuming that Windows 7 still has), uninstall the "rocket" (under USB controllers), and then run add hardware to find and reinstall the driver.

Use the MTP with Windows Media Player mode, MSC mode without.

  • I want 8 GB of memory on my laptop. Use Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit?

The operating system of Windows 7 32 bit is limited to 4 GB of memory. If I have 8 GB of memory, can I install Windows 7 Enterprise 64 - bit edition, and then use virtual destop with Windows 7 32 bit for my Adobe products?

If you want to use 8 GB of RAM, a 64-bit Windows 7 (Home Premium, professional, Enterprise or ultimate edition) will be adapted. If he inherited are applications that you need to access you can install Windows XP or Windows 7 in Windows Virtual PC and virtualize applications, only Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate editions supports this feature well.

    Notes:
You simply have to have a CPU (processor) that supports hardware based virtualization: Intel-VT or AMD - V, you must install both files:
    1 Windows6. 1 - KB958559 - x 64 or x 86 architecture that you run
Restart the system, and then install:
    2 WindowsXPMode_en-we

Please follow the following steps to enable the hardware virtualization:
-Restart the computer and enter the BIOS.
-Search for virtualization in the BIOS setting and enable the setting.
    -Save the BIOS settings.
-Turning off the computer, wait a few seconds and start the computer.

I thought that since it was announced box WE the Win7software it would be IN the software! ... Funny that...
But it's not. So, I go to the page to DOWNLOAD the software.
I'm greeted by a series of necessary downloads until I can run XP mode.

Then I hit the 'step 2 - download windows XP mode' I'm greeted by a validation required DOWNLOAD.
Ok no problem. My windows 7 is bought in-store (newegg). No pirated software IN my house much less ON my computer. It IS the only authentic.
So I DOWNLOAD the program validation and the race (install?) it.
I saw nothing happen after I ran (installed)? He had no visual feedback that he had done a thing.
So I thought that maybe it runs automatically, so I tried to hit the button "step 3 - virtual pc DOWNLOAD.
Yet ONCE I am greeted with the same 'Windows required vaidation' pop up.
...' excuse me? I thought I had already jumped by THAT hoop...

First of all, make sure that your installation of Windows 7 Ultimate already activated:

Activate Windows 7 on this computer:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/activate-Windows-7-on-this-computer

If you use another browser other than Internet Explorer to post, try rather IE. You should also try to temporarily disable your Windows Firewall, it is known to cause some problems with validation.

    How to install:

Make sure you download both Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC (download this first and install first).

After installation of Windows Virtual PC, click Start, type: enable or disable windows features

    Hi enter on your keyboard

Scroll down and make sure that Windows Virtual PC is checked

    Click OK

    Reboot if prompted

As I said wrong, even the fastest AMD processor is too slow for Premiere Pro; in fact, the fastest quad-core AMD processor-based system is roughly on a par with an old system of two generation Intel Core 2 Quad CPU and matched exceeded by a humble Intel Sandy Bridge performance dual core i3 CPU system. This is partly due to the lack of support SSE 4.1 AMD processors or 4.2 SSE - versions very SSE which Adobe Creative Suite programs make very good use. Your AMD CPU system is handicapped paralyzed as a result.
