farshadmor,

If you can get in recovery VAIO by F10, then you can try to reload the operating system dos.  If you can't then you will need a set of recovery media (the American model, can be stopped through Sony parts @ 800-488-7669) restore your unit to factory.

    Contact the manufacturer of your computer, and you can ask them to send you a set of recovery Vista disc/s.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    In addition, ask them how to access on your computer/laptop recovery Partition to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Each manufacturer has their own way to do this.

  • HP media center m470n cannot start the recovery. F10 no work. HP pc system recovery isn't in the menus.

    This m470n was seriously infected by malicious software.  After disinfection with MSE and ClamWin, works very well, but I would like to do a system recovery.  The fact recovery partition exists.  But the F10 at startup does not receive me at the recovery, nor is he a "HP PC System Recovery" entry in the tree of programs on the Start Menu.  (I tried another function key I can get to the BIOS OK menu.)  Is there another way to start Recovery?  What is the name and the path of the exe that runs 'HP PC System Recovery?'  Thank you for any advice you can give on this old machine, but still very useful!

    Thanks for another excellent suggestion!  Use the Partition Wizard bootable CD, I see two partitions.

    One is named HP_RECOVERY, FAT, about 6 GB, and it is the active partition.

    The other partition is in anonymous form, NTFS, about 145GB.

    I wasn't expecting to see the active recovery partition.  I guess that explains why the Windows computer management disk management Panel did not have the option Mark as active, because it was already active.

    The c:\windows\sminst directory is missing, probably because the damage malware cleaning.

    CherylG, you have been very helpful!  I don't want to take your attention to other people's questions, and the option of replacement drives $27 is a simple solution, so unless you're really intrigued by this weird problem, we can close.  Thanks again!

    Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.

    You receive this error message when you try to open the Vaio Recovery Wizard in the control panel? If so try to run boot-Recovery Wizard simply tap the F10 key function as soon as the computer starts and run through prompts from there. Remember that a recovery completely reformats your C drive, so make sure you have all your personal files backed up before you begin.

    Here are the General news for the recovery to factory settings:

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    1. I allowed to install Shockwave Flash in my computer this morning, and then malfunction of the application.  However, I reset my computer and connected only on yahoo.com but I couldn't sign in to other sites like google, wellsfargo and.  I tried to disable this add-on 'Shockwave Flash' managing by module.  Help, please.  Thank you.
    Ideas:
    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem
    Shockwave Flash should not do that. However, if you want to delete it go to programs and features in Control Panel. Click once on Adobe Shockwave Player and click on uninstall in the menu at the top. I suggest you do a comprehensive analysis here, a free service offered by Microsoft. http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/Center/whatsnew.htm
