  1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
  2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
  3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
  4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
  5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
  6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
  7. Configure Windows to a point before you changed the password.
  8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

• ERROR - comments operations agent could not be contacted

  We have a workflow that cloned clones of a paralytic, and after that VMware Tools begins in one of the virtual machines, we run a command script by using the workflow "to run the program in the comments.  We run this process of cloning several times without problem, but 1 on each ends of 5-10 with the error "failed to contact the agent of operations of comments.  Anyone know what can cause this problem or how we can implement workaround for it?

  I'm not terribly sure of what could be the cause... Intermittent errors like that are always a big challenge to resolved. I can however make a suggestion on workaround. I would suggest adding to execute the program in the comments of your overall workflow of exception management... Drag a task containing a script or a logging element and drop it onto you existing call to the program in the comments of your workflow. This will create a new path with a red line (way of exception). On the program running in the comments element, you must now bind the exception to an attribute - the default name for this is "errorCode" - go come and create this attribute and use it for binding. Then pass this error code in your new logging or task scriptable element to provide feedback/indication that there was a problem and you are re - try. Add a sleep or wait that the time element (requires a wait time setting) in order to add a little break in the workflow. Then, remove the end of this exception path element and connect the last point back to the run the program in the comments of the workflow... so the flow should be something in the sense of:

  1. Regardless of prior treatment do you
  2. Clone/customize VM
  3. Run the program in the comments
     1. If exception, wait 30 seconds (or whatever the weather) and try again
     2. Eventually, a maximum number of attempts and implement a counter to track these - if max is filled, then lift the exception and/or e-mail notification
  4. End of the workflow

• 2nd disc is not not formatted/partitioned in vCAC 6 - What could this mean?

  When you generate the two servers in windows 2008 R2 R2 and 2012, the 2nd disc is added but not partitioned even if I submit with a drive letter and label. I have the comments vcac agent installed on the two models.

  A strange thing is that I woke up a Windows pop on the comments vcac agent. To get this to stop I went on the log service and unchecked "allow service to interact with desktop." The message has disappeared but I still don't know what the underlying issue was if anything.

  You have two options for what you describe, if you talk to a single instance without dependencies, then Application Director is a bit exaggerated.

  1 - use the comments vCAC agent to install the software.  This has the advantage of easily integrate with your deployments and works out of the box.  The requirement is that you have scripts ready to manage a facility without application support.  However, for the two apps you mention, these can easily be found on the Internet.

  2. use vCO workflows.  It really is my favorite because it does not keep the guest agent installed on a base image, it's a little more extensible than the agent of comments.  You'll also need scripts Unattend for this method, and this method works better with virtual machines VMware running VMtools (so that the vCO can launch scripts on the guest).

  3 puppet/head/salt.  These have the advantage of having very large repositories of content to deploy applications.  You just have to find the officer appropriate running on your computer and the configuration management solutions do the rest (and more).  This also has an advantage over #2 that you are not limited to VMware virtual machines.  Drawback is the rise of time to evaluate, select, learn and deploy these but I think in the long term, that worth the effort.

  So, you have a few options here.  Don't forget that you can use all these depending on the use case.  For example, vCO or the vCAC comments Agent can be used to install the agent of the puppet and then the puppets will do the rest.  For an example of what I'm talking about you, see blog of Ryan Kelly on the use of charm vCO with vCAC.  http://www.vmtocloud.com/self-service-application-deployment-with-Vcac-VCO-and-Chef/

  Actually 6, you got a drop-down menu for the type of agent - like vSphere and the agent called the endpoint name...

  It was really confusing so in 7 the name has changed to reflect the correct designation...

  The name of the agent is now descriptive for example...

  Agent name: SiteA

  Endpoint: SiteA-vCenter

  Agent name: SiteB

  Endpoint: SiteB-vCenter

  Makes sense? At least that's how I explain it to myself.

• Runaway WFStubBuildingMachine workflows delay and loops

  I have a situation that has occurred most likely because the workflow ExternalWFStubBuildingMachine heel vCO was traded while six requests for VM service were in flight.  Now I have these VMs stuck in the WFStubBuildingMachine workflow and a loop several times per second.  I got a load of truck full of marbles and generate several times per second - and says exactly:

  The machine, BuildingMachine State: InvokeRepositoryWorkflow, intercepted error: Machine, BuildingMachine of State: InvokeRepositoryWorkflow. Workflow repository WFStubBuildingMachine has expired.

  I tried everything I know.  These include the following:

  Restart Manager, DEM and vCAC Agent services

  A ran vCO workflow to remove the change of stubs on all WFStub workflows

  Restarted the entire stack (fortunately - pre production)

  Devulcanization back the WFStubBuildingMachine to an older revision in the DSA

  Tried to destroy the machines in computing resources (results in error)

  Deleted VMs in vCenter

  Tried to move machines to calculate/reserve different (resulting in error)

  Attempt to delete plan (but combines these virtual machines as managed objects)

  The bucket of entity property on these look to fall VMs and VMs listed as 'Unknown' in calculates resources > manage machines.  I don't know where to live these jobs or if the only solution takes the tongs for the SQL database.  I was hoping for a command line utility force them to kill these jobs but can't find nothing relevant.  This does not affect any functionality but eventually the file system will explode from overdose of newspaper.  Any help is appreciated.

  Your best bet is to first stop the DEM services until you remove the items from the database then:

  As you say it take tweezers to the database.  You can see what is in the DynamicOps.RepositoryModel.WorkflowInstances table and delete all the related entries and then go to the dbo. VirtualMachine table and delete the entries for the machines.  There may be dependencies, you need to maybe follow and remove as well.

  When you installed the Agent of vSphere, asked the name of endpoint - make sure that the name you entered exactly matches the name of the endpoint.  Then look in the agent log to ensure that the endpoint and the credentials are valid (no error).  If you use SSL Certs and the vSphere agent has been installed on another server, make sure that the cert is that machines of trusted root.

  You will also get a good idea what the root cause is from the log Agent C:\Program Files (x 86) file name \VMware\VCAC\Agents\(agent) \logs\vSphereAgent.  If its not correct, you will get a not found or access denied error

  Once you confirm the Endpoint\Credential, the SSL certificate (if any) are defined - as the previous comment, it is stated, then create a group of fabric and you should be able to check an area associated with the discovered clusters.

  The Format based on the string will do this for you.  Right click and change the options to fill with zeros.

• The VRM Agent errors in vCAC 6.1 - cannot complete the connection due to an incorrect user name or password.

  Receive errors of VRM subject officer in vCAC 6.1 on a random/intermittent basis.

  I read the other posts documenting similar errors but in almost all of these positions, these errors arose following a request by commissioning has failed, a misconfigured in vCO vCenter Server Plugin interface or some other connection failure distinguishable. In my case, this condition is intermittent (at least it seems to be) and resolves in the end. I have no problem of supply of virtual machines on one of my endpoints configured in vCAC and, as far as I can tell, the network appears to be stable.

  At this stage since there seems to be no significant or negative impact for the health of the entire system, (for aesthetic reasons only), I usually end up the purge of these error messages in the SQL DB Table. I wonder if anyone else has this problem or clues as to what may be the cause of this?

  Indeed, it turns out that our network has been unstable with intermittent packet loss and the routing of the shortcomings... The main culprit seems to have been Channeling of Virtual Port (VPC) behaves poorly or badly configured on a physical switch uplink... VPC, in our case, was created to supplement our vSphere Teaming and failover policy settings.

  Here is my solution:

  This error makes reference to the bad connection to Agent, given that this Agent is installed on a different computer, virtual, I try to install an Agent in the same virtual machine as the server, Iaas and connection will be locally but trying to reach the VM for IaaS fqdn, it does not yet, I guess because there was something in relation to safety but no t properly a firewall something as Ironport or something (don't really know that they tell me everything) this device works as a firewall nextgen having a King of the policy of blocking agent connection/communication on network somehow, so I kindly ask (not really) security guys after thousands of approvals to let this VMs out of this policy After that everything works OK.
