vCenter 4.1 update vCenter 5.1 database?

Hi all

I have another question:

I made a backup of my database sqlserver 2005 vCenter 4.1.

I want to restore it on the new database of vCenter 5.1.

Is this possible?

vCenter can update the database up to 5.1?

How can I do this?

Thank you in advance

Bertrand

Ago, so create a new virtual machine and install SQL 2008 on it. Import the backup from the comics, you had taken and then on the VC machine, start the installation of VC.

You will need create the ODBC connection before you start

After that, just follow the normal installation steps - the link below will help

How or there is no model code keep update/sync the local database indexedDB for MySQL database online?

Unfortunately there is no direct connector for an application of WebWorks to a back-end database. You will need to do, is to have some middleware web server (Apache, Node.js, etc.) who manages a web service that you can make an HTTP request to and GET, POST, UPDATE, DELETE data. Middleware and then transmits commands to the back-end database and returns the results to the finished device.

  • VCenter 2.5 Update 1 updated 5 problems with database vim_vcdb

    Hello

I've recently updated the vcenter 2.5 Update 1 to day 5.  Everything was fine, no problem, but now I have windows event log error messages complaining of the log for the database "VIM_VCDB" is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases

The VIM_VCDB database is set to simple recovery mode.

My environment is 6 esx servers and 30 virtual machines.  VCenter is led on a physical server using sql express 2005 for the database.

VIM_VCDB.mdf file size is 640 MB and VIM_VCDB.ldf is 688 MB

I dropped the log file and it reduces to 1 024 k but after about 30 minutes, he pushes to 688 MB size and I get the error again.

    Any ideas?

Could you please try to increase the limit more?

    Thank you.

  • vCenter Best Practices Database

I'm looking for the VMware documentation that tells me that if it is advisable to keep the vCenter and vCenter database on a different machine in the production environment.

My about 500 VMs infrastructure and I currently have the DB and vCenter on the same machine.

I keep DB on a separate machine is better than having the single point of failure and I think that's what vmware recommends.

However I'm looking for the Vmware documentation that points.

I went through the best practices database link in the doc that you shared.

strange, that VMware has not mentioned clearly anywhere if it's good to keep the DB and vCenter application on separate computers.

Documentation need concrete who can back up.

    Thanks for your update :)

We believe that the first step should be to vCenter for VC4 first migration.  We would like to know if there will be a problem for VC4 to manage ESX 3.5 hosts?

In addition, if we use MS SQL Server 2005, to buy another license for it.  Do we need a processor or just a CAL 5 license?

In addition, if we choose to SQL Server 2005 Express, is there a potential showstopper?  Just as there is no plan database maintenance SQL Server 2005 Express... etc

    Thank you

Yes, it would be better if you update your database first - he will do things to choke. Regarding SQL express, with only 6 guests, it should be good to use as your database for VC - if your shoot environments or you have plans to expand, increase the number of hosts, then I would be to move to SQL-

  • When updating the password file database

In our infrastructure, we have several databases (all 11 GR 2 on Linux) who have access to the same password file.

If the password of a user stored in the password file is changed in a database, this user password is changed in all databases that use this password file.

If I query the view of sys.user$, I can see when a user has changed, but only for this database and need to check each database to see if the password has been changed for this database. Is it possible to see which update this file to shared password without connecting to each individual database database?

    Thank you!

    Hi Garrett.

You have active audit? Also, if you have defined AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS to true, you should have some information placed in the $ aud. As Joel Suggested, check the timestamp of the change in the password file.

I think that if you enabled audit_sys_operations, you would also have records written to audit trail operating systems $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/audit.

On another note, according to the literature and my test, if the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = SHARED, then you could not change the password for the SYS or other users with SYSDBA privilege.

  • How to get the updated value once the database is in place?

    Hello

I have a scenario which is explained below.

I have values from the DB for the first time and then consecutive application gets the value of the cache if the key is the same.
One application is to apply. At that time, certain values change in the DB and then the DB is declining.

Once the DB will get the new value of the cache. I tried this but I got the value from the cache (obtained only old value). The key is the same in DB, I changed the value and tested it.

Is wot in the way that I am doing is correct? The same thing happens when I put the value in cache when DB is out of service.
Will the data get updated as soon as the DB is in place? Also, this is not the case when I tested.

I made the scenario above using distributed cache with manual configuration file that uses dumps.

The cache of almost is a "cache cache", then it can expire items out of its cache of 'before' (the local cache on the JAVA virtual machine running the code that requests information from the cache close), but which does not expire items in the cache 'return', which is the distributed cache.

Caches are assembled in a hierarchical way, your configuration is something like this:

    1. a "cache near" which consists of a "local cache" (expiration) front and a back "distributed cache.
    2. the "distributed cache" that has a "reading / writing support map" for its data storage
    3. the "reading / writing map support" that delegates to a "Cache" store to talk to a database and a "Cache internal" for its storage
    4. the "internal cache' is probably configured as a storage card by default (which has not expired)

To make data expire so that he is re-read, simply change the definition of "internal cache" in the read/write backup plan to use a similar setup that you use on the front of the cache close.

For example, the example configuration file "coherence-cache-config. XML"(found in coherence.jar), you can change this"1 h"to 10"s"and expiration will occur in 10 seconds instead of an hour:

      example-binary-backing-map

      HYBRID
      {back-size-limit 0}
      BINARY
      {back-expiry 1h}
      1m

      example-read-write

          example-binary-backing-map

      true
      0s

  • Update of Oracle 9i database to Oracle 11 g

    Hi Experts,

We conduct our Applications on the 9i database but our customer came out with suggestions to upgrade the database to Oracle 11 g.

Below is information on our platform:
    JBoss 4.2.3 JDK 1.6
    TIBCO Administrator - 5.4, TIBCO Designer - 5.5, TIBCO TRA-5. 5, TIBCO EMS-4. 4
Oracle 9i - basically using Tables, views, sequences, functions, and stored procedures.

Can anyone provide us with some information for the upgrade to Oracle 11 g R2 and impact on work?

Any suggestions that could be made would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards
    ANUP

    ANUP says:
    Oracle version is release 9.2.0.1.0
and the operating system is Windows XP

Your client is running the database on XP? I wouldn't stay in the same operating system for 11 GR 2

XP is a desktop OS use not for the server. If your client is very familiar in windows and want to use windows windows 2008 is the right option.

What is the database? If it's a little less than 100 GB then the easiest to upgrade are using export - import

    Hope this helps

  • Update of the repository database grid 10g (10.1.0.4) GC to 10.2.0.5?

We have ' all in one ' box with Oracle 10 G Grid Control on it. It came with the Oracle 10.1.0.4 database server that we use as a repository of grid. All our production database servers are 10g 10.2.0.5 and we would like to use the repository of the grid as the RMAN Repository for our backups, but we can't as the grid base is any version and RMAN requires repository database to be at least the same or more recent than the database version you sign up.

So my question is... We can upgrade 10.1.0.4 base grid to 10.2.0.5 (or 11g?) without breaking anything in 10g Grid Control? My guess is that it should be fine but... I thought better to ask first.

Yes you can upgrade your database repository OEM 10.2.0.5 or 11 If you wish.

    DB-10 gr 2 10.2.0.4, 10.2.0.5
    DB-11 GR 1 material 11.1.0.7
    DB-11 GR 2 11.2.0.1

The version of the database are supported as a repository database

  • Performance history missing after the movement of vcenter database

I recently moved our vcenter remote SQL database to a new server. The move of the SQL database process went well. After that I moved the database update the DSN on the server Vcenter, and the connection successfully tested.

I thought everything was fine, until I tried to look through some performance stats and noticed that I had no story in history. I can see all the stats from before I moved the database and I can see real time statistics, but I do not see that anything recorded in day or week view since his arrival in the database. It's almost as if she's not writing the statistics in the database. I've attached a screenshot of what I see.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

A note, I moved the Express database from SQL 2005 to 2008 R2 SQL server. After setting on the new server, I changed the compatibility from 2005 to 2008. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

    Thanks for your suggestions

  • Is it possible to run vCenter Server and AUVS in the same database?

Hello. My client has vCenter Server and VUM installed and running in the same database. Yes, the same database (not only same server database) and the same ODBC (ODBC VUM is 32-bit only).

My question is whether it is supported or not and I would like a source VMware information, not only "it works fine for me".

I can't find any definitive info on this VMware. Only something to wave in the installation and upgrade guides about or not to run in the same database ' ' (I guess they mean 'server') and it seems that the recommendation is to separate them for the 'large environments,' whatever that means.

The environment vSphere 4.1 is currently, and there are about 20 guests and 150 virtual machines.

If it is not supported, I guess the best way to go is to reinstall both from scratch?

    Thanks in advance!

    / Anders

Yes, it is a supported configuration.  Since VUM and vCenter using different tables, you can share the same DB

The database of the update manager that you use can be identical to the vCenter Server database. You can also use a
separate database, or you can use existing database clusters. For best results in a large scale environment, you
must use a dedicated Update Manager database that is located on one computer other than the
    the vCenter Server system database.
