vCenter - Change Disk Mode depending on

Hello

We have a virtualized server vCenter Server on a site and there 'Independent - persistent' drives together.

I would like to change this to load, so that we can snapshot the virtual machine.

Usually, I would stop the virtual machine, cannot host via Desktop Client and change the mode however the VM version is 10 so I'm unable to do this.

And because it's the vCenter server, when it is off, I can't access vCenter.

Does anyone know how to change the disk mode using another method?

Thank you.

Install the latest vSphere Client (v5.5 Update 2). This should allow you to change the settings. To install the new vSphere Clinet, you must first uninstall the current customer of v5.5.

I'm trying to restore a disk from MacBook Pro from a backup, but my PowerMac Pro does not seem to recognize the MacBook Pro in target disk mode.  I have a FireWire 800 cable and adapter to the thunderbolt FireWire 800 port.  Is there something more I should do to get the Mac Pro power to recognize the MacBook Pro in disc mode target like an external hard drive?

There is no "Power Mac Pro;" are you referring to a Power Mac (which would be less than 11 years), or a Mac Pro? You try to migrate data from the MacBook Pro to another Mac, or vice versa?

  • Cannot start normally after target disk Mode

I received a 'new' 2015 documents transferring manually, Macbook Pro and I am. media and other elements of my Macbook Air from mid-2012. • Check out the Photos (target disk mode) files

Unfortunately, it seems that my iMac is damaged and I am in the middle of the tent back up all my files. The iMac won't boot to the top, and it looks like it might be a problem with the graphics card or the logic board. I can access Mode without failure, but it's pretty unusable due to the fragmented picture and lines on the screen. However, I was able to use the iMac with "Target disk Mode" for use as a hard disk.

So, as I can not open the Photos app I was wondering how I can recover the files it contains? If I copy my file from the library on another computer I will be able to use / access that previous files I had saved in Photos? My understanding is that the files are stored somewhere in the library? I do not use iCloud!

Most of the things I want to back up are in the files that I can just slide through a macbook via firewire, but I worry about what the other files I might lose (what I forget). Pictures is the only app I can think where are stored the files differently I use however.

It would be great if someone can help with this, thanks in advance

    Usually Yes

The best solution is to restore you last backup to another computer, since it is a full disc and not affected by problems with your main computer - this is why you should always have a good current backup

If for some reason that doesn't work then just drag the photo library to the other computer and save it to the top of there

Extract the files is a last resort because you lose everything except the original photos - all editing, any organization, etc - your original photos are in the folder of the masters in the photo library

  • vCenter Server Linked Mode Configuration

    Buenos dias a todos,

    Hi all
A question: you can use / set up the "vCenter Server Linked Mode Configuration" card from several VC (verse 5) in different domains WITHOUT trust relationships?

    Official documentation:

Instances of server vCenter in a group of related modes can be in different areas, if the domains have a two-way trust relationship. Each area must approve other areas on which the server vCenter instances are installed.

  • When I tried to power on VM ends up in the right error: the specified file is not a virtual disk. Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/4d48ad95-ad5e027a-67f4-e41f1360cc9e/Iso/ser01/ser01.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

I stop a virtual machine after a certain time, I tried to power. Its has ended up in the following error message

Reason: The specified file is not a virtual disk. Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/4d48ad95-ad5e027a-67f4-e41f1360cc9e/Iso/ser01/ser01.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

The machine was working fine before the closure.

In the data store, the file type of the virtual machine is 'file' instead of 'virtual drive '.

    Help, please

You are missing the file descriptor hard. The xxxx - flat hard is the file that contains the data effectively. But the xxxx.vmdk is missing, which is a text file that connects to the flat file.

    Welcome to the community,

This virtual machine successfully powered on since July 23?

To me, it seems that something went wrong with the clichés (I guess they are / were created by a backup application). Due to the size of the files I guess more that snapshots were created and not modified.

If this is the case, you can delete the virtual machine to inventory, edit the vmx file by

    replacement of

    scsi0:1.filename = LHMU-VIC04_1 - 000004.vmdk

    with

    scsi0:1.filename = LHMU - VIC04_1.vmdk

then right-click on the vmx file in browser data store and add it to the inventory.

Before adding it to the inventory, delete the snapshot vmdk files (those with '00000 x' in their file names) as well as the vmsd file. BTW, you can also remove the zdump file if you want.

If you are not sure if snapshots contain valid data, take a look at the (small) header files vmdk. If the CID and the parentCID match, snapshots were created while the virtual machine has been powered down.

If you are not sure, please post back before doing anything.

  • Could not open the vmdk disk or one of the snapshot disks it depends on

I upgraded vmware fusion 1.x to 2.08, because I was getting the message

Cannot open disk - hard or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

    Reason: Cannot lock the file.

So I thought that would fix it, but it didn't. I can't figure out how to fix it either. At home, I'm a PC user and use VMware player, but at work, we use Mac OS X and the merger.
