  • iPod Classic supports the versions of the song in shuffle mode

When I'm in shuffle mode, my iPod will play all versions of the song of the same title, and I don't want that to happen.  I don't know why it is dragging on title only. Is there a way to fix this?

Also, what are the steps to mix songs in a playlist?

I don't know why it would play all the songs of the same title, if you play in "shuffle" mode  Who would you play the songs in the order list (random playback is disabled), with the songs in alphabetical order by name of the song.

For random playback of the songs on a playlist, go to the settings on the iPod screen.  There is a setting for Shuffle; Set it to the songs.  Select the playlist on the iPod screen, without going into the playlist.  Press the Play/Pause button.  OR you can go in the playlist and select the first song to be played; the following songs will be mixed.

It is unclear what you are asking, but if the question is (retired), the can transfer songs that are on an iPod nano (and nowhere else) to my current computer?

You cannot use iTunes.  By design, iTunes sync is generally in one direction, from your computer to the iPod.  The exception is purchased songs on the iTunes Store, iTunes can verify ownership of these songs (command in the menu bar iTunes -> devices-> transfer purchases of [name of the iPod] file).  However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'the ipod transfer', you should get a few links, including a CNET article.

Once the files of the song on your disc, you can add them to your current iTunes library.

  • My iPod nano 2nd generation gets disk errors after installing iTunes?

I use my iPod nano 2nd generation for... Wow little almost 10 years now and of course is not as sensitive, a little laggy sometimes, battery life isn't as good but still never had real problems with it that can be repaired by a reset. Well not until now and I have not really money to spend to get a new, in particular the fact that practically it still works fine on his own, just that I can not add or remove pieces of her more.

    The problem

It seems that the computer has trouble reading the device. Whenever I plug my iPod nano 2nd generation USB in my laptop (Windows 10), which has some sort of interaction with it freezes. For the moment I plug in, programs such as Winamp, iTunes, File Explorer (if I click my computer-> try to right click on the drive, that says all F: drive instead of the usual name recognized as "My iPod."), the Device Manager when I try to turn Apple iPod USB Driver and the small icon in the system tray when you try to eject the drop-down list no longer appears, all these programs themselves just freeze and unresponsive until I unplug the device. In Event Viewer, the moment where I plug it, it gets spammed by looping errors to:

Error: The device, \Device\Harddisk1\DR21, has a bad block.

ATTENTION: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR21 during a paging operation.

So, basically, it seems that the computer is blocked just not try to read and recognize the device, which means that I can't really do anything with it. The iPod itself seems to work fine, I can hear songs, recharge the battery and other things, earlier I can't add or remove pieces of her.

    Stuff leading up to it

A year or two before, I used to manage the ipod via itunes (a relatively old version of time too I guess since I almost never update) until I formatted my laptop some time ago and never bored computer reinstall itunes. Since then, I really didn't need to change anything to my iPod and just use Winamp (my default music player) to the add/remove songs when I needed to. Today, I decided to install iTunes because there are some things that winamp cannot do as add embedded lyrics and also winamp blurs the sorted list of the song. Since then, after you have installed the new iTunes, start freezing and program I get the problems described above. There might be a chance that iTunes was not the real culprit and the disc was already beginning to get corrupted or something somehow, but I can't think of anything that's happened before this problem started.

    I tried many things

    • Uninstalled iTunes and all the other stuff related to the installation as pie, Apple Mobile Device Support... .etc
    • Reinstall the device driver USB Apple iPod. When I turn it off (Plug in iPod-> iPod poster 'do not disconnect'-->--> Device Manager driver right click-> disable-> Device Manager freezes up-> unplug ipod-> Device Manager-> thaws plug ipod in) ipod becomes simply the State of charge. Steps to reinstall is the same (need to plug and unplug).
    • Reset iPod in now the Center button + menu button.
    • Will then resetting operation rewind + Centre button iPod diagnostic mode. It is not a test disc hard because I guess nano doesn't have a disc hard just flash ram. Anyway, when I select SDRAM QScan he only says: "SDRAM OK." NAND_SPEC gives "NandLBA = 1982464". Flash gives Checksum "Checksum is 0x26AF".
    • Wanted to try as described here to check for disk errors, but cannot because the computer cannot correctly recognize and explore freezes if I right click. I tried using 'chkdsk f:' in the command prompt, but that seems to hang as well.
    • Switches mode disc reset ipod then now Center + play button. Then connect the laptop... etc, same problem.

It's a pretty old device, so it seems that support because it is very rare. I didn't install iTunes could screw up the device that it is intended to support and do anything as permanent as this one.

You must exclude a faulty USB, cable anchorage, try another, or using your power with another Apple device cable, to confirm that it works correctly.

Otherwise, your troubleshooting seems complete.  If that's what you've done for disc Mode

How to put your iPod in disc - Apple Support mode

and connection to your computer causes this issue General 'freeze' with multiple processes, the iPod has possibly a hardware problem.  Flash storage eventually.  Or it can be a problem on the logic board of the iPod.

I suggest try to reformat the iPod using Windows, as if it were a USB flash drive.  But you can only do if the system hangs when you connect iPod.

NOTE: If you find a way to reformat iPod using Windows, use FAT32 as the disc format.  If there is an option to do a quick format, do a full format instead.  Once the process is complete, the iPod is totally blank.  You do restore using iTunes (if you are prompted or not), to the embedded iPod software.

Depending on the context, I'll assume that you are asking how to unload files of songs from an iPod to a computer.  iTunes synchronization is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library. You cannot use iTunes to transfer files of song from iPod to computer (with the exception of songs purchased from the iTunes Store)

NOTE: Songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be downloaded again free of charge, on the iTunes Store purchased screen.

Download your purchases past - Apple Support

However, there are methods and third party utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'ipod music transfer', you should get a few links (including a CNET article on the subject).  Once the files of songs from the iPod to your disk, add them to your current iTunes library.

Further, you should backup your iTunes data.  Apple describes a way to back up your folder full of iTunes on an external drive.

Manage and backup your iTunes media library - Apple Support

This method should also be used when switching from an old computer to a new computer.  By transferring or restore your complete iTunes folder, it's the same iTunes library on the new computer, not a new iTunes library with your old songs.  iPods are not designed to be your data from iTunes backup.

  • How can I erase all the files on my iPod Nano (6th generation) and start over?

I can sync is more manually all the files that I need on my iPod Nano (6th generation) to my Macbook (OS 10.6.8) because it is full.  Instead of delete folders and songs about the Nano, which would take forever, I'd rather delete it all and start by cleaning up the folder that I keep in my iTunes library (11.4), then by loading all on the Nano.

    How do I:

    (1) delete all music from the Nano?

    (2) see how many in the iPod folder in my iTunes library Macbook so I know what to remove?

I know this must be a simple process, but it's been a long time I did!  Thanks for any help out there.

When your iPod is connected to your MacBook, open iTunes, click on your iPod in the sidebar and in the 'Summary' tab, click 'Restore iPod.'

If you don't see the sidebar in iTunes, go to the view menu in the menu bar, and then click see the sidebar.

  • iPod nano not recognized

    Hi people,

Here's my problem. I have two iPod nanos. One is a 8 GB, 4 years old, one is a 16 GB, age of two weeks. I was their sync to my new laptop aged from 1 month (running windows 10). Now, when I Plug one of them in, itunes says it can detect an ipod, but cannot therefore no synchronization ID. I do not see it is the iPod because it just started to happen with both at the same time. Any ideas? I already followed the advice found here If iTunes does not your iPad, iPhone or iPod - Apple Support and which did not help either. I have the computer to run a pilot if at least ipods load, but that's all I got to this point.

    Thank you!

iPods will charge from any USB port powered, even if iTunes is not installed on the computer.  They charge also of a power adapter USB (like the type that comes with the iPhone or any other device), no computer at all.

This Apple support document (the one you linked to) is quite comprehensive.  If you already went through these basic troubleshooting steps and technical, the other thing to try is to completely remove iTunes (and related software components) and reinstall the latest version.  Curiously, the Apple has a document for this procedure, but recently deleted 'Windows 10' from its description.  But you can find this document here

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 - Apple Support

and also do an Internet search for stories of (non-Apple) on this subject.  The key point is to remove all the components of iTunes (not just "iTunes") and do it in the exact order shown.  After removing the existing installation of iTunes, download and install the latest version from here

  • Importing photos from older iPod Nano(Gen 5)

Photos has been synched to the iPod using a PC/iTunes.

The PC was stolen later and now iTunes doesn't want to replace iPod everytime I try to sync.

Ideally I would simply copy photos on PC/laptop(outside iTunes-for fear of deleting the photos which now only exist on the iPod Nano)

The search for solutions, but all seem to be involde 3rd purchase third-party software solutions.

Apple/iTunes/iPod really allows for export/transfer of photos of the Apple device without installing iTunes-origin?

Photos of the iPod are stored in a special way.  During synchronization, iTunes converts photos to fit small iPod screen and stores the data in a special database format.  He comes to optimizing works iPod displaying the photos and save the storage space on the iPod.  As with other types of media, iTunes sync in generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library.  You can't use iTunes to retrieve the photos on the iPod.

NOTE: The exception is IF you had a setting is enabled during the synchronization of photos to the iPod.  There is a setting on the display of pictures of the iPod settings in iTunes (where configure you synchronization for photos) to photos full resolution Include.  IF this parameter is enabled when Sync you photos to iPod, you can find and recover the original files of the image in the folder of Photos on the iPod (with disk use enabled) storage, using the file manager of your computer.

There may be third-party utilities that can recover individual photos of the iPod.  However, the photos are generally lower resolution versions of the photos full original resolution, because they have been converted during the synchronization for the small screen of the iPod.

  • iPod nano detected but not recognized, why?

My wife has an ipod Nano 7 G. We have 10 Windows and iTunes 12.3.3.17. It worked fine for months.
