Hi all

When I connect to my vCenter Server 5.0, I see warning about vCenter Service database. The message is

Cumulative performance of statistics since the last week in the month is not involved in the database

Cumulative statistics for the last month of the past year performance is not involved in the database

Please your friend help, thanks before

Hi, your work of performance statitistics rollup does not work.

This KB should explain how to fix it:http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1004382

And this post is my blog and explains how the rollup jobs and how statistitics is collected.

I hope this helps.

If you use the MSSQL database, locate WebService.Ports.http in the VPX_PARAMETER table and change to the correct port.

    Hello

We use vCenter Server 5.5.0 build 1476327 installed by using Installation Mode on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2. All SSO, inventory service, vcenter, customer web etc, are on the same server.

VCenter server service is set to automatic (startup type), Local System (connect as). However at the restarting windows server vCenter, vcenter service does not automatically start and it gives error in the vpxd.log below. But if we manually start the services vcenter, it works very well.

  • vCenter service stops

    Hello

I'm under vCenter 5.0 U1 and my database is on a SQL Server 2008 Cluster, use Windows authentication.

First of all, I would like to point out the race vCenter on Cluster SQL is not fully supported and VMware Support on best efforts basis.

I've seen most of the time a manual intervention is required to start the return services after cluster failover

Check the options for high availability of the server vCenter supported

  • inventory of vCenter Service backup frequency

    Hello

Could you please advice the importance of backup service of inventory in vSphere 5.0 update 1 version. If this is taken daily or he is allowed to make a backup of the inventory once a month if there is no important inventory changes.

    See you soon

    Hi Pan1268,

Inventory service stores vCenter Server data and application inventory, which lets you search for and access the items in the inventory through linked server vCenter instances.

The thing to note is, if the Inventory Service database has a problem and the service starts not etc., we have options to reset the database to the inventory Service. This also applies to things such as material errors of status etc.

If resetting the database does not actually cause loss of data or functionality.

To cut a newspaper story short, Backup Service of inventory can be bludgeoned with your regular backup of VC schedule and you should be good.

  • vCSA vcenter service cannot start

I use the trial version of the device of the VirtualCenter server in our lab are fine POC development.

I can get the deployed ovf and the vcenter server has started.

If I configure the vCSA without changing the hostname, the vcenter service starts and I can access the app from vcenter through VIC, connect my host, etc..

The problem is when I go to change the host name of the application of vcenter just going down the Hill. The embedded DB cannot update tables, vcenter service will not completely start and the vcenter is inaccessible.

I tried removing the drive and redeploying a few times now and not can't find a work around for this.

    Any help would be welcome.

I suggest that configure you the host name and the network before configuring the database.

  • Older applications launch Services database

I have a problem with older applications, which are not yet on my machine, appear when I right-click on a file and choose "open with...". ». From what I can tell that this list is what we call the launch Services database. I can clean with Clean My Mac 3 to rebuild the database, but in a day or so old applications (which as I have said, are not yet installed more) appear again.

It became a real problem about a week ago when Adobe Lightroom couldn't run Photoshop - I kept getting a weird error message. I posted the problem on several juries of Photoshop which resulted in my uninstall and reinstall several times, until I hit on the idea of rebuild launch services database. That fixed it for a while, but the old version of Photoshop crept into the launch services database and I could no longer run Photoshop of in Lightroom. I did Clean My Mac 3 reconstruction and it has cleared up, but I really want to solve this problem once and for all.

Don't use software such as "clean my mac"...

    Only uninstall completely.

The launch services database can be erased with a small Terminal command, you don't need additional software to do this - and beware of any program that wants to 'clean up' or 'protect' your mac, as it is likely to more damage than any good. Some are outright scams.

If you need a reputable software to adjust the settings not available and to avoid dealing with the Terminal, try Onyx. Free, was there for many years, quickly updated and from a reputable developer.

Or triple - click the following line (it's a very long single line) to select it, copy and paste into a Terminal window, press ENTER to execute the command.

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

    Hi John,.

This is due to host on the vCenter server entries. Please try the procedure below

Connect to the vCenter server, edit the/drivers/etc/hosts file in Notepad

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

    # 127.0.0.1 localhost

Note: If a line does not exist in the hosts file, add it at the end of the text.

#) to remove the comment from the line of IPv4.

    1. 127.0.0.1 localhost
      ·  Save and close the file.
    • localhost127.0.0.1.

      • GoTo services.msc and start VMware Virtual Center Services.

  • vCenter Service overall health from "yellow" to "red".

    Hello

Lately, we sometimes receive from operating e-mail alerts manager as the above title has changed from yellow to red, or red to yellow.

It's strange because nothing seems to be wrong.

When you look at the details of the alert there is only a mention that we need to check the vCenter management webservice, but this one is running.

    Any idea?

It's health, reported by VC itself.
You can check in VI-client: Home-> vCenter Service status

also, you will see why it is not 'green', and what needs to be fixed.

The fault will disappear once the health is in the 'green '.

    See attached snapshot of VI-client

  • Cannot start abruptly vCenter Service

    Hello

We have vmWare vSphere Essentials running for a month and all of a sudden it has stopped working on 9/11.  When we try to start the service, a Windows message saying it cannot start the service.

We bought a new server that meets the requirements of vCenter.  We have vCenter 4.1 running on Windows Server 2008 Standard R2.

We made the most recent change has been that we have installed the SMTP server feature which required the IIS role must be installed.

I found the files of huge logs under the "All Users" folder, but I don't know what I'm looking for.

My first question is where can I find more information about the error and the second what could be the cause of this strange behavior change in vCenter?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

    Michael

We made the most recent change has been that we have installed the SMTP server feature which required the IIS role must be installed.

It is more than likely your problem that IIS will conflict with vCenter. You must stop IIS and your vCenter service can be started successfully
