VCenter should he optical fiber connectivity?

My apologies if this is answered somewhere else, but some searching google and forum this increase.

We are planning our first ESX deployment.  We will use our FC SAN.  The vCenter server needs to have a direct connection to the San?  (as in, need a CF card to connect directly to the fabric?)

What I've read, I think that the answer is no, but I wanted to check, since we need to buy things right the first time.

Thank you!

Nope there is no need to talk to the SAN just your hosts

    Thank you

    You can't have a single box. Routers with receiver integrated fiber optic are very expensive. You will have two boxes: the United Nations and the ethernet router.

    And don't forget: a router ethernet is versatile. It can work with any internet connection as long as you have a modem that works with your ISP. Ethernet is standard, you can still get a modem. Thus, two boxes you making it more independent from the ISP and the kind of internet you have: you can always take with you your router except if find you it is too slow for your next ISP...

  • Is the Airport Express optical fiber compatible? (Verizon Fios)

    Is the Airport Express optical fiber compatible? (Verizon Fios)

    Verizon wants me to have one of their routers. Is it necessary if I already have an AirPort Express?

    The airport is a router, not a cable modem. Verizon are likely to provide a cable modem that is also a router, and therefore has an entry for the cable and several outputs ethernet; It can also have wifi.

    You can probably turn off wifi if you prefer to use the airport; and there is nothing prevents to connect airport entrance to one of Verizon output using its wifi and ethernet ports. As long as it is reasonably recent, it should detect that it is connected to a router and configure properly.

  • What tool would you use to create optical fiber cables?

    I created which, I hope, will be appropriate brushes to create what must be an accurate picture of vector of optical fiber.

    My question is, what steps you would use to make realistic fiber in adobe illustrator cc 2015?

    I tried the tool brush and pen. However, I found cutting an ellipse in half and using her own path is a good source.

    Thank you

    So two thoughts here. According to Visual processing, there are many approaches to making it. However, here are two things of Foundation that I consider important for you after your Visual processing is established.

    1. create the appearance you want. Below you can see I used a single path with several properties top STROKE in the appearance Panel. Press the button Add race in the pane appearance with this selected path and modify each stroke to get the look you want. Here I use 3 stroke properties. One is black and thick, the second is more thin and grey, and the last is a gradient on an attack of apoplexy that reflects the gradient on the path. Once you have created, select it and press the new button in the Panel of graphic Style. When you draw something, now click that graphic Style and it will make it the path for you.

    2. create an Art Brush with scale between the guides. In this way he traces a path with the art brush and always finish by the fibers of the end of your thread unaffected. Draw your image and drag it in the Panel forms. Choose Art Brush as the type, and then click OK.

    When the following options come up, then opted to evolve between the guides and drag the guide so you flush the part you want to not scale or adjust.

    Now, whenever you draw a path, choose this brush in the brush Panel and it will automatically draw with the part between the guides and add the endpoint without scales or distorted.

    Good luck

  • Find this vCenter/s that you are connected to?

    Y at - it a command to run in powercli which will tell you what vCenter or vCenters you are connected to?

    I tried Get-VIServer and Get - VC, or work...

    Hello, 0.justinsmith-

    You can take a look at the auto variable, ' $global: DefaultVIServers ' - that he holds the VIServerImpl objects that correspond to the vCenter - and the host ESX (i) that you are currenty connected.

    If you are interested in having your vCenters information currently logged into the title bar of your PowerShell session (the default behavior in the previous PowerCLI releases), there are several places out there that have some functions/how-tos for this.  For example, AC has written on it to vNugglets.com in his position of PowerCLI, vCenter servers show currently connected .

  • Newbie Question: Should I use a connection for each method?

    It's my first project using SQL and Java, I have actually some learning on this subject but fun, but I'm still a beginner, so bear with me. When I set up a connection to the base, he goes into a try block:

    private void connectToDB(Connection con, String username, String password){         try{             DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());             con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@localhost:1521:xe", username, password);             System.out.println("Successfully connected to database\nDatabase: xe\nOn host: localhost\nPort: 1521\nAs user: " + username);         }         catch(SQLException e){             System.out.println("Database connection error:\n" + e.getMessage());             System.exit(1);         }     }

    But it does mean that when I want to use the connection to another method (to query the database), it throws a NullPointerException (I think because there is no guarantee that jerk has been implemented?)

    private void getAllJobs(Connection c){         try{             Statement s = c.createStatement();             String selectAllJobs = "select * from jobs";             ResultSet row = s.executeQuery(selectAllJobs);             while(row.next()){                 String name = row.getString("NAME");                 int jobNo = row.getInt("JOBNO");                 String urgent = row.getString("URGENCY");                 Date date = row.getDate("JOBDATE");                 System.out.println(name + jobNo + urgent + date);             }         }         catch(SQLException e){             System.out.println("Could not execute statement in method getAllJobs");             System.out.println(e.getMessage());         }         catch(NullPointerException e){             System.out.println("Could not create statement, connection is null");             System.out.println(e.getMessage());         }     }

    On this basis, I get the result:

    "Successfully connected to the database
    Database: xe
    On the host: localhost
    Port: 1521
    User: human resources
    Could not create statement, the connection is null
    NULL.

    I should create a new connection in each method I use, so that the sql statement is in the try the connection block create? What is the best way to handle this? Something different wrong with the code ignore for now, I'm looking for this answer so that I can continue the work.

    Thank you
    eskimo9

    OK - seems kind of, I went on a tangent and my brain took a vacation.

    Java is pass by value. If your code:

    private Connection con1;

    connectToDB(con1, "hr", "hr");

    private void connectToDB(Connection con, String username, String password){

    past the 'value' "con1" contains (which has the null value) to the method "connectoToDB". The method can manipulate the object, if it is not null, but it cannot change the setting points to the object. Such an assignment within the method is only local.

    You have shown that on the inside of the 'con' method has a value after the connection is created, but the original variable "con1" does not because the method cannot change what it points to.

    Change the "connectToDB" method to return an instance of 'Connection' and store the value returned in con1. Then the call to "getAllJobs (con1)" does not work correctly because the instance variable has been initialized. I'm sorry that I you good-for-nothing.

    There is an explanation that is funny, but for education, at this link: http://www.javaranch.com/campfire/StoryPassBy.jsp

    See the part that says:
    >
    A CAT = new Cat();
    doStuff (A);

    void doStuff(Cat B) {}

    B = new Cat(); does NOT affect the reference
    }

    To do this simply 'points' B to control a different object. A is always happy.

  • SWR2048: Question optical fiber

    Guys, I'm trying to find an answer to a problem

    I have a campus that uses about 8 switch SRW2048 around campus.

    They will install the fiber between the buildings to improve speed (currently using Ethernet - very slow)

    Here are my questions:

    1. can I connect the fiber-optic lines directly in SRW2048 switches using their ports mini-GBIC, instead of going to a Media Converter and then to the ethernet line?

    2 should. what equipment I fill this?

    From my understanding, it's doable, but I get lots of different answers to make this work 100%.

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Replace the vCenter without redoing the vRanger connection configuration?

    Hi all

    Experimenting with the new device of VMware vCenter, I ran into a problem with vRanger connection.  I disconnected a host of our existing facility of vCenter and added successfully to the new VCSA.  I also added the new VCSA vRanger connection configuration.  vRanger connection sees the new vCenter, as well as the ESXi host on the new vCenter.

    The problem I see is that jobs do not now for the virtual machines on the host has moved.  I can see the jobs tab in my work, but when I try to run one of them, he fails almost instantly:

    Inventory [vm-11529] node is on a disconnected virtual circuit:

    The work is no longer present in my inventory tab, under the virtual machine in question (I have individual tasks for each virtual computer).  Is there a way to retarget 'with' the new vCenter without having to set up new jobs for each virtual computer after migration?  My concerns are the time to set up 30 + new jobs, the possibility of having to do a backup complete out of sequence, and our peripheral dedupe (ExaGrid) see this new backup as a new source of backup, causing the backup to break chain and forcing the use of the double the hard drive space on our ExaGrids until our retention period is completely recycled (3-4 months).

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Judge Quinn

    Quinn,

    Let me be clear. Now your ESX hosts are managed by VCSA, and this one has its own new database. In this case, all the stored in the configuration store object ID is invalid. I'm not familiar with VCSA yet, but if it works with VMware PowerCLI, you should be able to get new IDS and update InventoryNodeVirtualizationObjectId in the BackupTemplateTask table.

    Here is a PowerCLI procedure to get new VM ID. It works with regular, not sure of VCSA VC.

  • Way died on one of the fiber connection

    Recently, there are two ESXi 6 install the host added a new Vcenter 6 and connected to a new HP 3PAR storage. Each ESXi host have two cards of one fiber port. One of the ESXi host comes with a missing SFP adaptor server. The two fibers of server have been added to the host HP 3par storage profile. After receiving the missing card from the seller, it was installed at the location for map available fiber and I check the connection of HP 3par and vmware path.

    I found her recently install SFP connection has a way of death. Is anyway to clear the dead path?dead path1.JPG

    Hello

    have you rebooted the host and reread since you have added the new FPS. It seems that something has been featured on target 2, defective sfp?

    Do you have file on Lun 254 systems? You can list (list of file system of storage esxcli) look for all disassembled.

    Let me know the above information.

  • vCenter session - find origin of connection

    I have a user who cannot tell me what is logging into vCenter with his credentials.  The account will be idle for several hours.  If I kill the session, it immediately.  How can I find something more identifiable as an IP of origin of the session?  I tried http://nickapedia.com/2010/02/15/vsphere-mini-monitor-now-with-more-cowbell/ on my Win 7 x 64 desktop, but it crashes in various ways when you try to connect to my vCenter.  I know there are scripts PowerCLI to kill any idle sessions, but this 'service' will record everything right back in immediately.  Thank you.

    It is something that you can easily find using vCenter vpxd.logs. You will need to know the session key which you can query the API or use the MOB vCenter under sessionManager object. You must also change your vCenter _tempoairly_ to verbose logging, if it isn't already, by defaul in that the output of logging is configured as 'info' that only goes into detail on real customers officers which is where you will identify the IP address where it connects.

    Once you are ready, turn on detailed logging and put an end to the existing connection. Wait until it reconnects, then take the session key, in this way, you don't have to search through all your vpxd.logs you are looking for the actual connection. Search the main vpxd newspaper and you should see something of the following:

    [2010-12-21 19:27:33.115 01456 info "Libs"] [ADS] Primp account found, but not local
    [2010-12-21 19:27:33.115 01456 info "App"] User authentication error 1326. \primp.
    [2010-12-21 19:27:33.131 01456 info "App"] [Auth]: user PRIMP-IND\primp
    [2010-12-21 19:27:33.131 01456 verbose "App"] [VpxdUser] Registration session with cnxId = 49C1F429-8403-4D0D-B319-7C79C2708FF1
    [2010-12-21 19:27:33.131 01456 verbose "PropertyProvider"] RecordOp ADD: sessionList ['3B655744-E886-41AE-89AC-DFF691901A1B'], SessionManager

    You should see the user name and specifically the sessionList which is your session key. From there, you will key out of the 3rd column and in my example it's "01456" which corresponds to the actual number of thread. You will use this to identify all of the entries in your session and find all the entries, you should see something of what follows not too far from the details of the session, which should look like this:

    [2010-12-21 19:27:36.053 01456 verbose "ProxySvc Req70068"] New local SSL client (TCPStreamWin32 (socket = TCP (fd = 3592) = 172.30.0.60:443, even = 172.30.0.218:53893)
    ))

    It's the real demand and you will see 'local' that must be the IP address of your vCenter server and the 'peers' who is the real customer. In my example, I faked it by logging into the my local office CROWD and this is the IP address of my system.

    If you transfer your vpxd-journal of a Linux host, you can do something of what follows to save time searching using Windows you just define two variables VPX_LOG that is the log file itself and SESSION_ID which is the session key

    VPX_LOG is vpxd - 198.log.; SESSION_ID = 3B655744-E886-41AE-89AC-DFF691901A1B; $grep (grep "${SESSION_ID}" $VPX_LOG | awk '{print $3}') $VPX_LOG | grep counterpart

    This should hopefully help you identify the culprit

    Hello, I have 1CMOS-HD camcoder, now I need to transfer signals hd - sdi over fiber with this extension of fiber 3 g - sdi, so I'm curious is this compatible with the HD-1CMOS camcorder device.

    First of all, I don't know what is 'this' extension of the fiber, but as long as the camcorder has an HD - SDI output, any extension of fiber HD - SDI should work.

    My company uses Thor Fiber products and we have not had problems, then that would be my suggestion.

    Overall, what extension you should work well. In addition, if you need the 3g version, be careful because there are a few extensions that claims to be the 3G and that they are not.

    As much as I know L350-170 does not support the TV out port.
    It does not support HDMI as well.

    So that it supports only a VGA port.
    If your TV supports a VGA port (some LCD this) then you can use and VGA cable
