  That is likely to be a problem of synchronization (NTP) time of 98%. Ensure common NTP, then go a little further and make sure that all the hosts as the vCAC bits are running on are also synchronized.

• Change of ownership of VAPP

  Hello everyone, relatively new to Orchestrator.  Using 5.5 and vCloud Director 5.5 Orchestrator and try to use the vCloud Director Plugin to create and mange vApps.  I'm trying to change the ownership of the TIME but can't seem to find reference to how to make this change in Orchestrator.  Someone at - it codes or the document they can tell me how to add this feature in Orchestrator to change the owner of a paralytic.

  Yes, the code works as expected with vCO 5.5.1 and vCD 5.5... I've simplified actually as well... I tested with a level SYSTEM account:

  I'm working on an automation project, which requires that we have a VM of 1 vCenter to another.
  Each vCenter is a stand-alone instance, they are not related.

  The problem we have is that cmdlets Import-vAPP and export-VAPP are 'too' data validation.

  VAPP export works very well, however, our problems are on the part of import-vapp.

  Each vCenter uses a distributed switch, so when we run this command, we get the below error

  I'm guessing that the import fails because the switches names and IDs are different on the target as on the source vCenter vCenter

  We use vCenter 5.1 and 5.5 PowerCLI for execution of our automation tools.

  What other options do I import to be successful, somehow bypassing validation of network?

  We can reconfigure our VM subsequently, but we want to just that import of fill.

  Is there any other cmdlets, that we can use, or go on the road to the API and something like Onyx allows you to spy on the vSphere Client to "make our own import-function"?

  All I know, you cannot ignore the validation, but you might take away the network.

  What I mean, check out the network configuration and store it outdoors, then try to remove the adapters for virtual machines.

  Now you should be able to migrate the virtual computer.

  During the migration, restore the vNIC and from the saved data, you have the network configuration.

• Cannot delete the storage policy to vCloud Director 5.5

  I'm trying to delete the storage policy to vCloud Director 5.5. I did in several vCloud Director organization VDC but stuck with one on the same instance of vCloud Director. I migrated all the VMs, the media and the VAPP model to another storage strategy. I checked in vCenter as there is no VMs who belong to this policy. Always in the vCloud Director, I see 30MB "asked" to this strategy of storage for this VDC.

  Any ideas what I need to check? How can I find what always uses this storage strategy?

  The problem has been resolved. Failed ISO image was only visilble in Administration and media & other only. After it has been removed, we were able to delete the storage policy.

• privilege/minimum permission required to run Get - VM?

  I'm trying to allow a group of users, some access to a subset of VM (content in specific folders) in a data center.  I created a custom and role granted the appropriate privileges.  Users will access and control the virtual machine through scripts and functions written in PowerCLI.  The problem is most of these scripts depend on Get - VM first to collect data on the virtual machine, and apparently the custom role has no rights to retrieve this information.  Get - VM does not give an error, but returns all data (while get-cluster and get-VAPP for example return data where permissions allow it).  Should that privileges to return data from Get - VM?

  I am struggling to check what is meant exactly in the blueprint of the VCAP-DCA in goal 2.2 where it says that you must learn to "explain the constraints of deployment and migration VAPP inter - and intra-organization."

  I'm sure it's obvious, but there is no clear definition of constraints anywhere I can find and I really don't want to miss anything.

  Here is my solution:

  This error makes reference to the bad connection to Agent, given that this Agent is installed on a different computer, virtual, I try to install an Agent in the same virtual machine as the server, Iaas and connection will be locally but trying to reach the VM for IaaS fqdn, it does not yet, I guess because there was something in relation to safety but no t properly a firewall something as Ironport or something (don't really know that they tell me everything) this device works as a firewall nextgen having a King of the policy of blocking agent connection/communication on network somehow, so I kindly ask (not really) security guys after thousands of approvals to let this VMs out of this policy After that everything works OK.

• A vOrg name recovery

  Is it possible to recover a vOrg vCD by name (string)? From there, I know how to get an OrgVDC, but it would be easier to use, if I could just take in a string and select the objects to vCD in the backend rather than having my end-users try to manually select the Org/OrgVDC.

  I heard that maybe it's a bug in the installer to point 5.2.  There is a configuration where the deposit app.config file can use a connection string to the database while an individual model uses a different.  It is required by SQL Snapshot isolation not use DTC and thus multiple connections with different channels causes this error.

  It is a requirement that the templates that are installed matches the repository web application configuration in the web.config file.  This should be validated at run time, but it seems that our Installer does not validate this...  I suspect that this happens when the web model manager is installed with sql different information identification and then the Manager of model data.

  Check the Repository.Website\web.config on the Model vCAC Manager server/s to the path \Program files 9 x 86) \VMware\vCAC\Server\Model Manager Web\ for the parameter below...

  Make sure the server, database and the authentication setting that corresponds in the table below (case is important here too)...

  If they do not match, probably easier to manually change both to use iis authentication and restart windows, and check if the problem persists.  If this resolves the issue and you want a different configuration, laugh with the settings further and confirm the fact that it always works.

  Is there a way to export a computer virtual through PowerCLI ESXi 5.0?

  I see there are export-VAPP, and read a suggestion to move my VM in a new TIME to export. Is there a better way?

  If TIME is the only way, how can I specify my ESXi host as location for New-VAPP - setting?  In vSphere Client my ESX host is listed in the inventory by its IP address. y at - it another "name" that can be used as -param location - using the IP address as a parameter gets "operation is not supported on the object" (or I am as usual, barking the wrong tree?)

  According to the documentation of OVFTool , you can specify a locator of vSphereA 'identification of a virtual machine or on VMware vCenter and ESXi vApp.

  In vclouds UI we see there is a button to send all available messages who for some org vCloud.

  There is some appeal that can be made of PowerCLI for this action?

  I want to inform how an entire Org they have X number of virtual machines.

  It seems the email function is not in the API, but the application is quite easy to do without sending an email through the API.

  1. get all the users and the vapps in org.

  2. for each of the users, understand how VMs in vApps they own

  3. send an email.

• Network mapping network Vsphere VCD

  So I'm new to VCD and try to understand best practices on how to map vcd networks return to networks vsphere.

  I'll start with the external network.

  In my vsphere network I already have a distributed with several groups of ports of production.  This distributed switch is supported by 2 natachasery starting from each host.  The natachasery connect to the ports of shared resources pswitch that allows traffic on all VLANs.

  To set up my network external vcd.  Should I start with a new Distributed Switch groups port dedicated for the vcd?  If so, I guess I would need to devote natachasery to this new dvs?  I guess this new 'external network' should have no access to my production network?

  So what I think.

  1. new DS with a Teddy connected to my cisco switch.

  2. place a single vlan on that port to pswitch coming out just through my firewall to the internet.

  3. create the Group of ports on this new distributed switch

  3. create my vcd external network to use this port group who has access only to the vlan that comes out to the internet.  No connectivity to my network of vsphere production?

  Again, I am new to vcd so feel free to offer a completely different solution.  I'm tryin to figure out how the vsphere networking should be setup to support these networks of vcd.

  Let me start by asking what is the purpose of this cloud.  Is it to run systems for yourself, or others (such as other companies).

  This is a quick setup which I think will be works for many people, or at least as a starting place to get an idea how it goes toghether. I used it as a whole little clouds which was a private cloud, so it has worked well for the needs could help by giving you a start.

  4 cards network uplink on DVS

  dvPortGroup to name VMKernel/VMotion "VMotion" VLAN 11

  dvPortGroup to Managment named 'Management' VLAN 10

• The inventory records and vApps

  Just a question on the inventory in vSphere client modes.

  I'm discovering vApps. As I understand it, they work as containers for multiple virtual machines, but I also use folders to organize my virtual machines.

  The question is how to than my machines both in their dedicated container VAPP according to inventory - host & Clusters and in their usual folder in inventory - VM and templates?

  For example, after you move a virtual machine in a new TIME that I created, this virtual machine also moved from its original folder. So it seems it is not possible to mix the vApps with folders view view? The VAPP organization changes the distribution of records!
  If I am not mistaken, it is not the case with Resource Pools.

  vApps in models of inventory and virtual computers are treated as a single entity, moving it's component VM will move its location completely. Is one of the cases of the use of the virtual machine to manage an application at several levels in a single container, in this case I'd be more interested move together multi-tier app, not one of the constituents.

  While Resource Pools are not yet visible in the models and virtual computers inventory VMs who are the child object of resource pools in inventory host and Cluster are free to move through different folders according to inv. models and virtual computers.

  So yes, you are right. You can't wait vApps and resource pools to give a similar behavior in virtual machines and Inv. models view
