Verification of the VCenter user permissions
Hello
Is there anyway to audit the addition/removal of permissions in VirtualCenter. You can see in the event log when a user connects, but nothing seems to be recorded when an admin edits / adds permissions to another user.
Is this possible?
Hi Mick,
You can take a look at the following document. It gives a lot of interesting details about the events, you can take and respond in specific permissions.
It will be useful. Good luck.
Concerning
Franck

A user filter will check if encrypted ID (in a cookie) exists in the DB and use it to set a variable session or security.

Determine the specific user permissions for a script
With a bit of advice from LucD (thanks!), I finished a script simple last night that removes the clones, defines the network cards, takes snapshots, etc to automate a procurement process.
Initially, I was running the script as a user with limited permissions but frustrating after a few hours, I found that I couldn't see some objects with this user. I tried (briefly) extend the privileges on the role of the user has been assigned, but I couldn't get the right combination and finally gave up and executed the script as an administrator and it worked.
I hope that someone will be there to tell me there is a quick and easy to run a Profiler against a script (or look at the server logs) which lists the specific permissions are required when running a script? I suspect that would save a lot of time on trying to figure out which of the hundreds of privileges must be defined for the user running the script. If not, I'm going to nuclear dawn somewhat undesirable to administrator.
Any ideas? Thank you all!
The best source for starters is required for routine privileges.
But take care of is not to create too many roles in your environment.
For a presentation full privileges (with a short description), you can do
$authMgr = Get-View AuthorizationManager $authMgr.Description.Privilege |Select Key,Summary

VCenter: User in several groups with different permissions, smaller approvals
Hello
We finally hit the use of our VCenter setup where we need to begin to use permissions group instead of the individual user's permissions. I have set up several groups (QA, automation, App, VCenter users and administrators) for our users. However - I ran into a problem where a user must be in QA Automation and administrators, and I put the appropriate permissions on a pool of resources (QA - unalterable, automation and administrators full control).
When you connect as long as user is as VCenter uses by default the * least * permissions for the object being verified and the user has only read-only for the resource pool (and spread points). Is this expected authorizations and vcenter behavior? I guess the user must get the permissions for all the groups, they are in.
Thank you
Ben
If you set permissions in vCenter level, then Yes, you need to uncheck spread it to child objects. What you can do then is add permissions on each individual resource pool.
Is the ultimate goal only allow these members to have access to resource pools, any VI?

No sound in certain programs, or barely a sound, setting volume/updated driver does not help, he went to directx sound, got the following text in the section notes. Failure at step 19 (verification of the user of the software) HResult = 0 x 00000000 (error code). Audio device; SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Windows XP Home Edition; SP3. All solutions?
Sorry, but nothing to do with video drivers! Re install the audio drivers. ETN also make sure you download and install the latest version of DirectX.
See you soon,.Jerry -

Lightroom CC "User permissions error" - cannot change the permissions for the folder Preferences
I noticed that Lightroom was running slow so I thought it was time to take stock. (I was using Lightroom 5.7). Yesterday, I downloaded the last LR update, which is Lightroom CC [1067055]. I thought that Lightroom CC would replace 5 Lightroom but apparently they have downloaded as separate applications. When I tried to launch Lightroom CC I got an error message indicating "Lightroom has met permission issues. I followed the directions from this link met Lightroom user permissions problems. Bridge of Photoshop Lightroom crashes or hangs at the launch but it does not set itself (I did not take the final step which is - create a new user account). I was working off of Yosemite, so I hope that the error can be corrected if I updated my operating system. Today, I downloaded El Capitan and Lightroom CC will not always open - I get the same error. I went to manually update the read and write permissions for the folders listed, but some of them don't make changes. The preferences file gives me an error saying "the operation cannot be performed because you don't have the necessary authorization." I don't have the "Adobe" folder in this route Caches
- /Users/ [user name] / Library/Caches/Adobe /.
How can I solve this problem and get Lightroom CC to work?
@laurawielos,
Try this:
the Macintosh HD > users > [your user folder... click on 'Go' on the options bar at the top on the desktop (Menu bar) > then click on the 'option' key > mouse down to the selection of 'Library' that should appear > click on it to open the folder /Users/ [your user name] /Library/ ' "]
You should now find the appropriate folders to change permissions. Just give your user name of the read/write permissions. I don't think you want to give everyone the read/write permission as some authors have claimed.
-
I did an update for LR6. After installation, I can't open LR6. A message indicates the user permissions issues.
See answer #7 in this thread: Re: update on CC (for PS, LR and bridge) online and met a permissions problem with LR on three dossiers?

Verification of the users belonging to the Group spasfic weblogic server
I built a simple service application web with jdeveloper 11.1.1.7 strategy (Wssp1.2 - 2007-Https-UsernameToken - Plain.xml) and deploy the weblogic 10.3. Everything works very well in both the client side and server.
The client side is unable to call any method without specifying the username and password properties. The server automatically checks the user in users values define in weblogic server in the following path (summary of the areas of security > myrealm > users and groups). Hereby, the customer can access the system if he takes one of the users in this group even with the default user weblogic/weblogic.
Question: How to limit the name to username/password check with specific usergroup?. That is, if the client mentions the name of user and password outside of the Group (even if the values are correct) the server rejects the request
Problem, solved by (user name: Roque)
in this link: java - verification of users within the spasfic group of weblogic server for the web service application - Stack Overflow
Here is his answer for your reference:
If you use the 'default' weblogic for users authentication method, you can follow these steps to set up an access group policy:
- Connect to the weblogic administration console
- Click on the links of deployments
- Select your webservice
- Click the Security tab
- Click the sub-tab political
- Choose your authorization provider in the menu drop-down (looks like by default)
- Choose Add Conditions-> Group-> Type in the name of the Group
- Finishing
Now that the group you added should be able to invoke the web service. All other users should see something like:
javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: Access denied to operation myWebService

View the account service - permissions in vCenter
The security guy asked me to check if the service account for view can have anything least Administrator permissions at the root of the hierarchy of vCenter.
Has anyone tried reducing the rights of the service successfully account?
We will be dedicated hosts (in a dedicated cluster) for VDI so it's just a case of:
1 give the account admin permissions at the folder level inventory (models and virtual computers view) where the VMs will go
2 give the administrative account permissions to the VDI cluster level
?
We do not use composer, which simplifies things a bit.
I'm going to give it a try today, I'd be interested if someone else has done something similar.
Thank you
Chris

Administrator permissions denied on the single user's computer
I am the administrator and use only my computer and yet I still get error messages saying that I have not allowed to save in a specific folder that I just created. I want to download a program to a subfolder that I created in the folder "programs (x 86). When I try to save it, I get a message that I don't have permission and to contact the administrator. The problem is that I am the administrator and the only user of my computer. When I connect my username says administrator.
More generally, I want to do what I want with my boring computer without restrictions. How can I receive fully the right to save the files, how and where I want to?The question that irritates you is called UAC (User Access Control). Click Start / Help, then search for help on UAC to see what it is, how to disable and what are the implications.

Problem is that when I install vCenter MHM, she requested information for the identification of the rights to start a service. No matter what I give, it is said that the specified user doesn't have sufficient rights to start a service. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
your user account must have permissions LogonAsService
you need to change the group policy or local computer policy.
computer configuration-> policies-> Windows settings-> security settings-> local policies-> user rights assignment-> log on as a service
Simply add the user account for this setting.

We run 5.0 ESXi and vCenter and I noticed a problem the other day when one of my colleagues tried to connect to one of our hosts directly using the vSphere Client. We have some ad groups that we have assigned various permissions in vCenter and all works fine when connected to vCenter through the client, but none of the roles or permissions show up if we try and connect directly to the host. It's design or something do not propagate properly?
This is normal. The permissions are stored in the database of the vCenter server and applied to the objects in the inventory. vCenter Server connects to the host by using the 'vpxuser' to perform tasks, but only allows each user to vCenter server tasks that he is allowed to.

"failure to communicate with the server" related to the vCenter mode
Hello
I have two vCenter servers connected in bound Mode.
On both, I created the same files (via the computers view virtual and models) and the same permissions for the same ad groups.
When I connect with a user (belong to the relevant AD Group) for vCenter2, I can see the vCenter1 and vCenter2, with the respective folders.
However, when I connect to vCenter1 (with the same user), I get an error message:
"There are problems with contacting the following vCenter server:
"vCenter2: failure of authentication with the server.
And there's a message in red on the lower right: 'No 1 vCenter Server not connected.'
My DNS is set up perfectly. I can't do a ping on each vCenter server at once.
Someone has an idea of what could be the problem?
Thank you
Yaniv
We received the error message was "Failure to authenticate" and "vCenter server not connected" in the lower right corner of the client vSphere for all non-local Windows administrators. After much research (VMware documentation bad lack), it was determined that one has been denied logon session on the server vCenter Server 4 Type as recorded in the security of the Windows operating system event log. Connection type 4 is log on as a batch job. After you apply this permission within the vCenter server's local security policy both (or all), non admin users were able to bind several instances within a single client vSphere vCenter Server successfully.
Again, this is something that should be held responsible for the VMware documentation. The delegated admin model is not intended for all operators of vCenter working with local administrative privileges on the vCenter server.
