Video RAM adjustment on Lenovo R61e

Hi all

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad R61e. I installed 2 GB of RAM, and I would like to set up shared video RAM. I know it's automatic, but I would like to first of all he way I want.

I looked in my BIOS, and there is no setting to change the video RAM setting. I looked at the device (screen) settings in the control panel and went through all of the advanced settings. I can't yet figure out how to set video RAM.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

GEO

If you click on the set of graphics device intel in the taskbar, you can select the 3d settings and that you choose the maximum video memory footprint, it should allow you to use up to 384 MB of you RAM of video RAM memory of the chart.

  • More video RAM on my Satellite A30

Hi, how can I share more video ram on my A30, is now 32 MB?

    Hi Alexander,.

If you have a Phoenix BIOS then you can RAM allocation adjust for your graphics card by changing the value of the AMU in the BIOS setup.

Access the control panel of the BIOS (F2 on startup), and you will see the value of UMA on the first page to half way down. The settings available are 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB and 128 MB. simply select the value you want and save your settings.

Of course, this will reduce the RAM available to your applications.

  • Lenovo R61e, Win XP Pro + 4 megs memory?

I have a Lenovo R61e with Windows XP Professional installed. I've got 1.86 Celeron 540 MHz processor, 2 GB of RAM, and the usual stuff, you'd find on a R61e.

In the section of the manual, it says that Windows Vista will support 4 gigs of RAM, but Windows XP supports only 3 GB of RAM? Is this true? Why would this?

I don't want to upgrade to Vista. It would be the biggest mistake anyone could make. (Who has worked on a Vista machine a friend. "It was full of bugs and UNDESIRABLE).

    Thank you

    GEO

Actually Vista 32 bit can only support 3 gig like XP pro 32-bit, but if you use Vista or XP pro 64-bit, 4 GB of ram is supported. But because you are using a celeron cpu and GPU Intel then having the extra 2 gig of ram do not help to boost the performance of your laptop. 2 gig is a lot for XP, Vista is a memory hog, so he needs to 2 gig to operate normally. I'll stick with XP for as long as you can, Vista do not even support Excel 2003.

  • Satellite Pro A40 - Video RAM

    Hello!
I had an A40 used in the business to work outside the office. So far so good. Upgraded to 512 MB. Is it interesting to upgrade the graphics memory? System show 496 MB of RAM. This means that only 16 MB used for graphics. This figure shows 64 MB of RAM. What is true? And if I can pass the graphics memory to 32 MB for example - is it important? And how? How to enter the BIOS to change anything?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

as far as I know that your computer has a graphics card with 16 MB of video memory. This will automatically using the memory up to 64 MB additional system, if necessary.
It is not possible to update the video RAM.

  • Increase the video RAM on a Satellite C660-1N6

I tried to run a software for video editing (Cyberlink PowerDirector 8) on my Satellite C660-1N6, but it does not start.

I was informed that 64 MB of ram of the laptop is not enough. My old laptop had a shared ram of with256Mb card SIS Mirage 3 and the program worked fine.
I told myself I must increase the video ram 256 MB, but I don't know how this will affect the operation of the excellent laptop.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hello

I found some info that your laptop has graphics UMA (Unified Memory Architecture). This means that the GPU uses system RAM instead of having there own dedicated RAM. They are fine for the use of the web, watching movies and so forth, but don't not to play or using video graphics performance of publishing applications.

As I know there is no way to manually set. Everything works automatically and depends on the RAM used in Notepad.

  • Satellite L300-1AI - how to put more video RAM?

    Hello

I struggle a bit with the graphics card.

I bought GrandTheftAuto IV, and although it runs, it runs very slowly. The cause for this is that it uses only 124 MB of video ram.

I went to the site of intel to learn more, and it turns out that toshiba will set up my video ram before sending it.

    http://www.Intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029090.htm
(about 1/2 down, titled: can I increase the amount of memory graphics using my computer is?)

Y at - it an option for me to set up a little more ram on the graphics card?

Because at the moment, if I will:
Desktop computer - make a right click, customize, display settings, advanced settings
Get the type of adapter and information.
Its a Mobile Intel (r) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    1341MB available total graphics memory
128 MB of dedicated video memory
    Video 0MB system memory
    1213MB shared system memory

The quesitons I need to answer: why vista/intel usually allocate more video memory it is necessary. GTA IV seems not to be allowed to see the dedicated video memory.
And then, how can I say vista/intel to allocate video memory dedicated more or maybe video memory system?
Dynamic video memory allocation thingy seems to not work very well.

I have already been in the graphics media accelerator driver and changed the 3D, of Normal driver memory settings to high.

    Concerning
    Ollie

Normally the video RAM is switchable dynamic and you can t change.
What you can do is update your RAM and then you will have more video RAM.
However, you should not change the video RAM. Get this s automatically.

On GTAIV I can say, install the latest hotfix.
In addition, you can GTAIV tell you more RAM:
Create a commandline.txt in the main folder of GTAIV and enter this txt to the following file:
    -availablevidmem 2.0

This option set the amount of physical memory to video.

  • Tecra M10 - 1 H 4 - change shared video RAM worth?

    Hello

I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2 GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256 MB of available RAM slot. Can I change the value of RAM shared graphic? In the properties of XP Pro, I can see that it is fixed at 1024MB which is stupid because I only 2.25 GB in the machine.

I can't locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change it. It's a mobile graphics chip Intel GMA 4500MHD. Any help is appreciated...

I also seem to get some horrible slow down on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same application or different) when I switch to another window/application from time to time I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?

I updated the driver too - claims I'm on: 6.14.10.4953

    See you soon

    TC

    Hey Buddy,

No, you can change the video memory value of t. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in the BIOS or the display driver where you can change it.

Video RAM depends on the RAM you are using on your laptop. Increase system memory values for the available total graphics memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher.

So, to get more video RAM upgrade your laptop with more system RAM.

  • Video RAM on IdeaCentre B540

    Hello guys,.

Recently I bought Battlefield 4 for my desktop IdeaCentre B540. However, I don't know how to increase the video RAM, and its actually really old Battlefield 4 game with low resolution at ~ 15 fps. Is it possible that I could increase the video RAM, and if not, is there a way I can upgrade my computer to power the video RAM necessary?

Video RAM is in the graphics card. You can upgrade the graphics card, but since it is an all in one PC, there may be not many options to upgrade.

  • Increase dedicated video RAM on a HP Pavilion P6 2133W

Hello, I need to know how to increase dedicated video memory, so I can play games that require a dedicated beyond 1 GB video memory. My current dedicated video RAM is 512 MB, my total video RAM is 4096 MB (4 GB).

    Data sheet:

    HP Pavilion P6-2133W

AMD Vision A6 Quad Core processor at 2.20 GHZ

    AMD Radeon HD 6530d

Upgrade to 64 bit Windows 8 Pro

    8 GB of system memory

    BIOS v7.14

(If necessary) AAHD3-HB Hibiscus manufactured by Pegatron Motherboard

    Hello:

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the amount of video RAM.  It is what it is.

If you need more video horsepower, you can look into the purchase of a dedicated video card of PCIe x 16 with 1 GB or more of memory for your PC that works with your PC power.

  • HP 2000-2b19wm video ram Allocation

You have a question about the amount of video memory allocated on this laptop. In the production specifications, he said "AMD Radeon HD 6310 Discrete-Class graphics with up to 1972 MB total graphics memory" Accoring to system properties (if you do the math) 409,6 MB ram is allocated to video. If I read this correctly, I could allocate 1.9 GB of ram to the video card. So guess the question is, how can I I do? Or if the system allocates video ram necessary?

Any help to solve this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

The link to the page of the product specification is lower.

    Hello bfldworker,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I read your post about how you look to allocate more memory for the graphics card to your laptop, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

According to the Specifications of HP 2000 - 2b19WM Notebook PC product, your dedicated graphics processor card will automatically allocate as much RAM as you need for the program that you are running. For example, if you surf on a web browser, you can use that with a few MBs of the video card. If you run a high-end gaming, you might almost be the maximum (1972MB).

    I hope this helps!

    Best regards
