Video Slimline failure

I bought a slimline are about 2 years old from a friend and the pc has worked perfectly until about a month. When using the computer, the monitor went completely white, then the screen resumed to normal. I continued using the machine for a few hours and then it turned off for the evening. I used the next day without problem. Once more I turned it off for the night and when I tried to use the 3rd day after the screen went white my lcd monitor and crt only no video input would state and then would go to sleep. I read that these computers had questions about the Nvidia chip to the motherboard.

My question is, when the video is embedded can install you a low profile video card in an available connector and connect or the motherboard needs to be replaced? If the motherboard needs to be replaced entirely so I am satisfied with the new technology to have audio/video/lan integrated. Thanks to all who answer.

Kyle

Any motherboard should have an AGP (former legacy video slot) or PCI-Express (more recent and better than the AGP slot) which can be used for video cards dedicated.

Yes, you can install a card video low - profile pci - e. Shouldn't be too expensive.

But what I would check is to make sure that the motherboar is not bad if you don't buy the new video card for nothing.

The integrated graphics subsystem is disabled automatically when you install a PCI express.

Make sure that it is a low profile.

Power consumption shoulsn can't be a problem, and most of them works very well on the 250-400w power supplies.

Here are a few good cards. I would recommend the second one from the top or the first step.

http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&DEPA=0&order=BESTMATCH&description=low+profile+video

Don't forget to try the monitor on another pc, if you can to ensure that this is the problem and also try to maybe reinstall the memory sticks if you can.

Could be a driver problem, or maybe the pc needs to be restored and maybe does not necessarily mean if the embedded video.

I think that if a pci-express card will increase the performance of your pc and should be more suited.

    [IMG] http://i68.Tinypic.com/zya8mb.jpg [line]

    [IMG] http://I66.Tinypic.com/sfb2uq.jpg [line]

My computer runs Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 7 64 bit in a dual boot, my laptop has a 6470 M graphic ATI card.

I was running a game in Windows 10 when 'glitches' started occurring on the screen, the blue strips on the screen vertical lines.  Then I tried to check for the latest drivers, I already had the latest, but tried to install the Beta Edition Crimson.

Questions seem to get worse, windows would start well, but by practicing a game the screen would suddenly get these strange blue strips, and when the screen is black the whole screen is filled with blue dots.

I left the laptop running for awhile, and when I came back to it, the screen was out of order so I restarted.

Blue stripes appear now already during the welcome of the hp bios screen before the OS has been loaded. What, I'm unable to connect to Windows 10 in normal mode, as he complains of a "FAILURE of TDI VIDEO (atikmpag.sys)" error and stops at blue screen. ""
I am able to log in window s10 in safe modeand when it is connected to an external display by VGA adapter, but there are always strange objects and strips of blue lines.

The same blue lines appear in windows 7, also I am here only able to log on in safe mode.

In my haste to fix this with a driver issue, I'm also currently not able to uninstall the driver thanks to the "add or remove programs" in windows 10, maybe I should have uninstalled the other driver first. The uninstall program gives an error message, I think it's "initialization error" or something similar (I can check when I get home)

I tried to update the bios of F.22 to F.61 too, but there is nothing.

My theory is that the ATI card actually suffered a severe hardware malfunciton, as the seeds of graphs already occur before the operating system is loaded, in the screen/HP logo screen bios welcom immediately after startup. I can't realistically replace the ATI card, so I'm afraid that the laptop is now brick. As the laptop is an I5 2520, I guess it's a HD3000 Intel integrated graphics card, but I've never seen this map in "Device Manager", it's in my mind, maybe the last option I have, can I just bypass the ATI card and use the other onboard graphics, that would be acceptable to me.

I would be eternally grateful if anyone has any suggestions for me.

If you see the lines on the screen when it makes BIOS initialization with the HP logo then it is not a driver issue, it is a hardware failure.

In the probooks I was inside the video is integrated in the motherboard, so the odds on the motherboard needs to be replaced to fix your problem.

  • Firefox Beta 23 crashed 5 times in the last hour since the update, twice with a BSOD of video driver failure. I can't understand another way to this post.

FF was running fast and stable until the beta update tonight. Later he crashed several times, sometimes with a total system crash, sometimes with a system is unresponsive, sometimes with a video driver leading to a BSOD crash.

I had to DL 22 release and restore. I am now on the output channel, not the beta channel.

System Setup: Dell Latitude 6410, Win 7 x 64, 128 GB SSD, 4 GB of RAM, Intel video hardware. Everything is up-to-date.

Trying to get out before it blocks again and then switching to 22.

    Java plugin is usually disabled.
Toolbars are ABP, disconnection and download status bar.

    Update:

Have been able to run > 4 hours stable release 22 without hardware acceleration and long-awaited performance. I identified that my Crucial necessary M4 SSD firmware updated because of a problem that causes the BSOD after 5000 operating hours. Since the firmware update has been applied, I was stable.

Firefox may have been a catalyst, not a culprit. I wonder if my BSOD troubles began because FF or FF, as Flash module, was trying to make the disk space which had been rendered difficult by my bad SSD firmware.

Will post again in 24 HR works normally on 22 and then try 23 update to see if it is resolved.

Thank you all for the input. Hope my comments are useful somehow.

  • video card failure?

I have a Mac Pro early 2008 that has been turned off for about 1 year.  I pulled up today and I have several symptoms, I think that may be a faulty video card.

The output has 2 - dual-link DVI ports.  One of them came out a strong red-purple cast on the screen.

The other is clear, but the computer starts very slow, getting to Midway and then the video will stop completely.  It may be a hard drive that is freezing as well.  The computer is quiet. But clicking on the keyboard, for example do not wake up or show a response.

Try to start safe mode, holding the SHIFT key at startup.

  • Video failure TDR on Satellite L550

    Hello
I have the laptop L550, 32-bit. After a recent update of Win8 I couldn't return the computer: screen had a blue window on a black background and 'video TDR failure' with the disjoint - barely readable text. I was able to enter back finally and copy some crucial files but not able to go back to windows.

First question, is why I can get a screen back but not windows.

Not wanting to abandon the computer right away if I can help it. This would set a new video card.

    Thank you

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. If there is no way to start Windows I recommend you to reinstall using Hat version original you have with your machine.

You didn t posted the name of the exact model (L550-xxx) and we do not know what OS you are using exactly.
I hope that you have created a recovery (DVD, USB) media in the past, then you can use for recovery image installation. After that your laptop will have settings factory and everything should be OK.

  • System does not boot: failure of the video card or viruses? I do not know...

Here's the deal: on a computer running Windows XP Pro SP3. Athlon, dual-core processor (2.4 gHz); 4 GB of memory; NVidia GeForce 7300 video card; and a Western Digital SATA, I met a failure while watching a DVD (using Media Player 11) and now I can't start.

I have been having problems for a few days with my Dell flat screen monitor "energy saving" mode because it has detected no signal. After playing with this and obliging to recognize a digital signal rather than the automatic detection, all seemed well.

During the film, the picture froze, the sound became a loud, grating buzz and shut down the system.  It has restarted as usual, but then would not start the rest of the way, stopping at the Windows XP screen.  The progress bar froze and spinning to stop the drive.

However... on occasion, for example when the system remained some time, I can sometimes start in safe mode (but still, it hangs when starting "mup.sys") or he will move to the XP logon screen and freeze it.  I replaced the mouse and keyboard (whiched USB connections) used with their equivalents of PS/2, but nothing has changed.

When I try to start, I hear all the clicks Associates, snoring and whatever else as if the startup continues normally.  However, when it stops, I can't "see" it on my network.

I have a hunch that it is a damaged video card because also the failure during the film and previous issues of monitor, when I hit the map to try to reinstall, he felt much warmer that it should have, but a video card failure would prevent initialize to top?

    Any ideas?  I'm all that.

It does for me, but of course as I said in my previous notice of Disclaimer: I want to emphasize that you should not take what I wrote as a definitive diagnosis. I can't see or test your computer from here. I give you my opinion on your computer based on my experience as a computer tech and what you have written. I understand that.  I was looking for another opinion by giving an update.

However, it certainly seems that the jury went.  It freezes even trying to boot in the BIOS setup.  Thanks for the directions.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you found fault on your TV by displaying your HP Pavilion p6520y desktop PC. I suspect you had an update of some sort come through and not fit correctly. I recommend that you follow the steps in the HP Support document: use Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7), which will show you how to restore your computer to a point in time where it was operating normally.

ATTENTION! This will not affect your personal files, ONLY the operating system and installed applications.

I hope this helps. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Compatible video cards for HPE h8 1320t

I get the symptoms of my video card failure.  This would make the screen flicker, go black, displays a blue screen for a second and then restart.

I want to know which graphics cards are compatible with this machine.  The current map uses HTMI, DVI and VGA outputs.

    Tom, welcome to the forum.

What is the power of the power supply unit (PSU) in the computer?  Since it is a CTO model, I don't know that the one you have chosen.  The reason I ask, is it, HP has their graphics cards manufactured to their specifications.  As a result, the video card that came with the computer was made to work with whatever card you have chosen.  I have standard retail card may not work with the power supply, if it doesn't have enough power.

  • Failure of T61p NVidia 570 m

    Hi all

I turned on my T61p as usual last night and the status lights came on as usual but nothing showed on the screen. I then disconnected the battery, he left, reconnected it, same thing. I have reset the CMOS by unplugging the CMOS battery and letting only 10 hours, same thing.

This morning, I took it to a repairman. There they took in and diagnosed it as a video card failure (nothing appears on an external monitor when it connects). The tone sequence is (long, short, short) which, according to the website Lenovo Web is a video card motherboard problem (we have already tried to take out/memory, same result).

The video card is soldered on the motherboard, so that when the 570 m fails the mobo is to replace the whole. It costs $800. I spoke with a representative of Lenovo today and I was told that because it's out of warranty since August 2008, I'll have to replace the motherboard myself. However, I spoke with NVidia today and they confirmed that the 570M used in the T61p is part of the defective batch of mobile video cards (which hit the new end 2008) and it's (Lenovo) manufacturer's responsibility to address this issue.

I hope that Tim or another admin can help with this question.

    Thank you.

    Congfucious,

You seem to be descibing several problems related to the United Nations.   The first question looks like some sort of hardware failure in the video subsystem - GPU or otherwise.   In later messages, you reference the system problems all in game...

The T61p issue when some systems might encounter problems where the unit hang or crash when two DIMMs have been installed, AND the system was in 3D games or other 3D graphics intensive applications has nothing to do with the nVidia issues mediated.

The issue in these cases has proved to be a problem on some of the planars tolerance and was resolved by changing the value of a discrete component of resistance on the system board.  This would be done in a controlled environment, so the field, system cards have been replaced by versions that have the update.

As a general rule, the normal warranty conditions apply to these types of repairs.

If you have been affected by these symptoms under warranty and previously inquired, trying to resolve, please send me a PM with your contact information and the system type and serial number.

I'll see what can be done to help out.

  • dv9620us monitor failure

The monitor on my dv9620us has recently started having what appears to be a major collapse at irregular intervals.

The computer will start upwards as usual, with the operating system and any open programs running quite normally.  The problem happens quite randomly: all of a sudden, the screen will become either completely empty, being replaced by random lines and colors in cascade and flicker very quickly across the screen, or a combination of both.  Occasionally, the monitor will be back to normal after some time has passed (again, no amount of time), although this return to a normal view has been detected less. However, I am still able to use the laptop with an external screen with no problems in listening (with the exception being attached to an external monitor) mode.

My guess is that some hardware component failed, either the connection between the motherboard and the display or maybe a total failure of the video card itself.  On the latter assumption, I don't know if this would affect playback on the external display too.  I would be very grateful if anyone has an idea on how to fix and what I need to replace to fix the problem.

To give more details about the computer, it's a dv9620us HP Pavilion age of 4 years old, running Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit, 2 GB of ram.

A new LCD may be the way to go.  After reading the forum but, I wonder if it is a symptom of a video card failure.  A lot of threads to indicate in their discussions of the dv9000 series: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Display-and-video/DV9000-Laptops-with-Nvidia-card-motherboard-fail/m-p/90951/highlight/true#M4903

As the machine is about 4 years old, it is out of warranty, and it would be probably more cost-effective to replace the machine instead of investing heavily in restoring it to full working order.  Is cost of course.

    Thanks for the reply!

If you can view on an external display device when the LCD screen is blank or otherwise, this means that the video chip did not fail.

Replacing the LCD screen will cost you $200-300, 00 unless you can find a used LCD on eBay.
