Video stuttering on Satellite P100

Hello..

I had a Satellite P100-347 (PSPA6E), with the center of the media as the Windows XP Home edition operating system. Whenever I want to watch a DVD with media player, real player, media center or WinDVD video is stuttering and the video and audio are not working well.

If I want to use the fast support (stop, pressing the button quick media, it does not start windows, it will start the media section) then the screen freezes for a few seconds after the start of the DVD. I have to hold the power button until the laptop turns off.

Any suggestions please.

Hi guys,.

have you ever tried to install a codecpack like K-lite codecpack which is free and contains all the need of codecs to watch movies any format (Divx, Xvid, DVD, etc...)

If not, try (http://k-lite-codec-pack.softonic.de/) and by the way: update your display drivers, if it isn't already. It sometimes... really helps. :)

Welcome them

When none of those who are running, dwrm.exe is 02 CPU usage when either run dwrm.exe is 45 CPU.

Is this a Vista problem? If anyone can help, I would be grateful or should I call Toshiba?

    Hello

can you describe the programs you have on your system? Maybe theres some program that looks at your other programs (perhaps an Antivirus or a private firewall or something else) and suck your platform performance.

A suggestion from me: try to uninstall some programs that you have installed and beware of what your machine.

So, I have to say that Vista needs a lot of resources, and there are so many people who is angry and frustrated of stand-alone and Vista, so I am too.
But let´s wait, because out of XP, it was the same thing with the first service pack they solve so many problems and triggered the performance of this system for anyone who can work now and is enjoying XP.

  • noise of crackling/stuttering in Satellite P100 has been FIXED!

Well after obtaining constant crackling even after a full 'out of box' recovery disk, I finally took my laptop to my local Toshiba service agent. After a few weeks and I get a call back.

They said they replaced the motherboard, CPU, DVD - ram drive speakers and it does not solve the problem. Another technician said he has seen this problem and replaced the hard drive. Well I got it back and OMG it's fixed!

The explanation of technicians was that the original hard drive was incorrect and that he sent interruptions on the DMA channel on the Board, causing indeed loading on cycles which in turn causes CPU sound discontinuity.

Fortunately for the warranty! Pretty much got a new computer for nothing!

So happy, I have used it for 1 week now right and have been impeccable. I did everything that used to cause problems and now they do not appear.

It is really a great info
    Thanks for comment you!

    Hello

We do not understand why mobile phones latest, as the Satellite P100-102 would be produced without digital-port connect TFT´s...

On the market-enduser TFTs are popular, but it is not possible to use the digital interface with the portable toshiba. We are not interested in the purchase of laptops from other manufacturers, but our time flee.

Can you give us a tip, then of the next generation Satellites with digital output to connect TFTs will reach the market?

    Best regards

    Hello

Sorry, but I disagree with you.
Toshiba designs laptops that support the digital port (D-video output port)

  • Satellite P100-160 - several PCI bus do not work with a shadow video BIOS

    Hello

I got my Satellite P100-160 for about five years now and have never had any problems like this before.
A few weeks ago my system did not (or something like that), so I pressed the power down button to turn it off.
Then, as he was put on, he seemed to freeze on the loading page and so I held the off button again.

The present results are when I turn it on, I get a screen telling me several bus PCI etc do not work and he says 'video occult BIOS.
I then have the option to press F1 to resume or F2 to enter setup.

In addition, one of my USB slots has completely stopped working and my card slot has also stopped working.
Can someone help me please? I'm on Windows XP, SP2.

    See you soon,.
    Liam

    Hello

I think that you need to access the BIOS (press F2 when the laptop starts up) and put its default value.
Then try to start the Vista again and press F8.
Then you will get a menu of advanced start it you should choose repair computer.
Vista supports a clean internal repair option, you should try this and must repair the operating system.

If this will not help and you still want to not be able to start a view, then a system recovery may be the best option for you

  • Satellite P100 - v4.70 update BIOS stuttering in games

    Hello

I had a problem with the Bios v4.70. Since I flashed my BIOS I had regular stops in my games. Looks like the game crashes every 3 seconds for a short time. I got the BIOS v4.50 before without problem. I would use v4.70 because since the new version of my graphics cooling fan card responses to temperature again.

With recent versions, that I had the problem the fan worked only when I pressed the temperature of the gfx over 104 ° C. seems there is an emergency program that starts the fan and keep running at a constant average level. When I turn on my pc, I have to repeat this procedure. It's pretty boring, so I was very happy to see that the new BIOS has solved my problem. Maybe someone knows a solution.
I know there are already discussions with stuttering in the game, but the solutions won t fit for me.

I use a pilot updated the gfx, because Toshiba release new ones.
My system is a Toshiba Satellite P100-354
    Processor: 2 GHz dual core
gfx: geforce go 7900gs 512 MB with forceware v185.20
OS: Win Vista 32 bit Ultimate

    > I use a pilot updated the gfx because Toshiba release new ones.
I think that's the reason. No Toshiba drivers don t have overheating protection and therefore the graphics card may be damaged. It s recommended to use the drivers from the site of Toshiba, because with these drivers, you are on the safe side.

Check the Toshiba website for the latest drivers and I think that the problem will be solved:

  • Stream video slowdown and going out of sync on Satellite P100 - 434 Vista

I have a Satellite P100-434 pre-loaded with Windows Vista and WinDVD. During playback of DVD video, the video stream slows and goes badly synchronized with audio after a short period of normal play.

The video then jumps and will be back in sync for a short time before going off again. I found references to this on a general search of the web with the only offer the solution of reloading with XP.

I confirmed that with Windows XP Home edition, the problem does not occur, and with Vista it always happens with PowerDVD v7 good than not as pronounced. I would like suggestions as to the cause and possible solutions.

Well, what to say seems the Vista itself or the drivers are responsible for this problem!
As you already suggested the use of the Win XP operating system would be simpler!

Anyway, the laptop uses the nVIDIA GeForce Go7600 FX card. Then first try to update the graphics driver and check a few improvements!
Try to use the drivers from the site omegadrivers.net

In addition I recommend you disable the acoustic silencer maybe it would help

  • Question about video drivers Satellite P100-257

    Hello.
Question about video driver. Version 14.25... Works (tells... 945 GM chipset); 14.27--works but with ocassional problems (tells... 945GM/GU); version 14,29... (said 945GM/GU) - does not work at all - black screen, but you can hear sounds which tells that XP does all right.

Why that? And what is GU? Pilot info says it is for 945GM, pilot says he's for 945GM/GU.

All kinds of three said they are for Mobile Intel 945 GM Express chipset. Who initially my machine have said there. In section "video card" my machine said no Intel - some Calg... - don't remember exactly the name.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As much as I know Satellite P100-257 supports the graphics card Mobile Intel 945GM. The code name of Intel's GM Calistoga
This is not the same thing as the chipset Intel 945GM/GU. Both are different and so the graphics drivers are not totally compatible!

The Intel page provides some interesting info on these chipsets:
    Mobile Intel Express Chipset 945GM

Unfortunately, I have not found anything on the 945GM/GU.

  • Satellite P100 - 10 p: poor video quality with 3rd site nVidia Driver

I have a satellite P100 - 10 p (PSPAGE) with 7900 GS and when I install the new drivers from laptopvideo2go.com video quality (163.76) of all films is bad.

The image is rasterized with each media player (VLC, MPC...) and screen sometimes "POPs" for a second.

Everything goes very well with 84,00 Toshiba drivers but I can not play games like BIoshock and Stranglehold with this driver.

    Help, please.
    Thank you

    Hey Drago

It's a very bad situation. Toshiba with each laptop must product offering functional and because of who offer tested drivers. These drivers are suitable for each laptop model and also have the function of protection. This means that the graphics card will not forced to run at the highest level.

As you can see with the original driver you have problems, play games. For me this is nothing unusual for laptops. Problem is that all of the updated drivers the only are not supported and tested by the manufacturer of the laptop. I recommend you to use tested driver Toshiba. In the end maybe you must compromise between game and watch movies.

By the way: original DVD movies are also so bad while you use pre-installed WinDVD?

    Hello

    > Is the processor good on this machine, I mean like a Core 2 Duo

The CPU is not better than Core 2 Due because he s successor to core Duo.
Intel Core Duo processor T2400 1.83 GHz Yonah works on this laptop.
You can check the detailed specifications of this CPU Intel page.

In addition the unit supports audio chip type high-definition Intel Conexant CX20551-22.
I put t know what you mean by HD video.
Do you mean the HD player? The portable player is a simple DVD Super Multi drive (+/-R Double Layer) and it does not play any DVD HD

  • Satellite P100-286 stuttering DVDs and games

    Hi all

I just bought a P100-286, the VISTA OS and come with DVD and games stutter.
I updated to the latest graphic driver on the Toshiba site, and made sure all the settings are set on the performance (although it seems to make no difference).
I put this down to VISTA, but it is very annoying.
Is anyone else having the same problem / found a solution?
    Any help will be appreciated.

I found a few threads here in the forum about stuttering game on P100 with Vista.
The problem was the Vista operating system. After installing XP, everything is fine!

  • Satellite P100-286 - video RAM shared with RAM system

    Hello

First note that I m French sorry for the bad English, I can use.

I have a satellite P100-286 - PSPAGE (T7200 @ 2 GHz, 2 GB DDR2, Gef7900GS) and I noticed that some of the RAM (exactly 271MB) was reserved for the graphics card.

I think that the graphics card has enough memory with its 512 MB, so I don't want to have a part of my RAM to be reserved for the Geforce. I have not found the way to reassign this small part of the system in the bios, and it is independent of the OS (I use Vista and debian and I see the booking even on memtest86) so I ve tried to flash with the latest BIOS but no change.

Is there a way to 'recover' my memory?

    Thank you

Additional question for fans of Linux: why can not I get sound on my laptop running Linux? :'(
It seems that there is no error, but there is no sound even if the sound card, the "HDA Intel", seems to work perfectly, even with the latest updates of the kernel and alsa.
I tried several Linux distributions, including Suse and Mandriva.

    Hello
Unfortunately you can not affect the amount of memory shared by yourself since it is regulated by the BIOS/Chipset and depends on the amount of main memory that is installed.

As far as I know that the shared memory is allocated flexible, which means that if a graphical application needs a graphics memory more then the system returns to the 271 MB shared memory. That's what I know of my machine... but I don't know, it might be different on other models.

Otherwise I have no information on this shared memory thing. You can also see this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shared_Memory_Architecture

    Dear readers :)

First of all, my English is not perfect, because I'm from Denmark, but I'll do my best :)

My problem is, when I play games (WoW, counter-strike), it is trolling. This is a new computer with Vista and it should be better than my old normal computer, but is not.

    My computer is "Satellite P100-454.

In general, all the games, and when I play music and others, is not good quality, which should be!

I need to download some sort of driver or so?

    Hi mate,

Maybe you should this solution that I copied from the knowledge base of Toshiba:

The video image which some games appear on the computer screen may seem "stutter" when games are played, Windows Vista.
    Resolution:
Update the BIOS of the computer and display driver according to the instructions below. It is necessary to update the BIOS first, then the display driver.

    Procedure

Update the BIOS of the computer to the version 4.20 or newer:

    1. click on the link to download the version 4.20 or newer version of the BIOS for Satellite P100.

    2. click the run button to start the installation from the BIOS and follow the instructions on the screen.

    3. restart the computer.

    *
Update the display of the computer to version 7.15.11.5666 or newer nVidia Driver:

    1. click on the link to download the 7.15.11.566 display or newer driver for Satellite P100. Save the file on the Windows desktop.

    2. double-click on the file driver_display_nvidia_os2007387a.exe on the Windows desktop to start the driver installation.

  • Satellite P100 and Vista gaming performance

I have a Satellite P100 with Vista Ultimate installed and all playing games, I get a stutter every 4-5 seconds where the rate is significantly reduced. I tried all the nVidia drivers from that published by Toshiba (97.54) the most recent pilot 101.41 with no improvement on this issue.

The strange thing is that it worked fine before the launch of Vista on January 30 and I ran a legitimate copy of Vista Ultimate for 3 months without this problem. He seems to have been some update published at that time on windows update that caused the problem.

It seems to be fairly widespread issue specifically with this series of Toshiba laptops I found many references in other forums of people have the same problem with a P100 and a 7900GS or similar video card.

Is there anyway to know if Toshiba are aware of the problem and are working on a fix?

It is a laptop computer that once bought 10 months came with a "Windows Vista Capable" logo on this subject and is spec'd for games with a 7900 GS with 512 MB of video ram. You hope that they could solve this problem.

    Hello

It s I don't known what games is underway on the unit you but the Satellite P100 is a very powerful laptop and the most games must pass smoothly.

You said that the stuttering appears since you installed Vista on your laptop
If it is certainly not a laptop or hardware problem!

Well done is that Vista needs and wastes more resources as the WinXP laptop and possibly a reason of delays of graphics

May I ask what you play games?
