  The test fails (SFC) checks for corruption in the files on your system.  If she can't even complete, she suggests the Vista all system needs to be re-installed - but you have already done this and you still have the problem.

  In fact, look like a hardware problem.  Here are some troubleshooting guidelines hardware that can help (but probably not for this question as what you really need, it is a replacement for test):http://elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot.  Frankly, I think it's time to take the system to a repair facility of good reputation for the service computer (or to return to the manufacturer for repair - costs, schedule, guarantees and make a decision).  I don't know what hardware component.

  If you can, try to back up your data before you import it it because they will probably wipe the drive clean during the process. You can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (perhaps done on another computer).  This should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data.  Otherwise, try slaving the drive to another system and access the data in this way.

First I updated the driver GeForce since my SWsetup folder but for the other, I searched online for her, then I saw the driver download progress bar but no progress has been made. I closed the dialog close and there you go, laptop does not start, I just saw a spark between the mouse pointer and the circular blue contraption. I wanted to join you and help! I understand that you are receiving an error message that says "acquisition of lock core auto boost with irql high ' on your HP ENVY 17-j120na Notebook PC.

  The question could be deemed to occur by downloading the update. It is difficult to say at this stage. As to return to it, your best bet would have been the restoration of the system, but you mentioned only that a system restore does not work because you do not have restore points.

  Have you tried to go into Safe Mode?

  You have media or recovery disk?

  Have you tried to do a Reset BIOS?

  Have you tried perform a hard reset?

  You have beep codes or flashing LEDs?

  Please ensure that all Bluetooth device that you use with the laptop is disabled (including mobile phone).

  Please note: delete all USB/Bluetooth devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

  You can update all your drivers by going to the Web site the driver HP or by using the HP Support Assistant.   Recently, I have this problem: if I drag and drop a clip on the timeline of sequence for the first time, the sequence automatically creates all the parameters and the video plays very well. However, when I do a second clip on the timeline (exact same type of images, different plug), the video will not, place the audio will be.   Important: Change BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  I recommend you contact the manufacturer of the PC for the procedure for making changes in the BIOS.

• Why does firefox 16.0.1 allows me not to click on the buttons in the top 40mm under the banners, if I can get to them by tab to a button, and then press 'Enter '?

  It doesn't matter what web page I'm on, top 40mm or so of the screen is a dead zone to click on buttons or links. for example, in Google, I can click a link further down the page and are transferred to the new article - but if I had to move the element to the top more near the top of the page the link would no longer operate.

  I can go to a link by repeated use of the "Tab" key until the button or the link is shown and then press 'Enter' to use the link, but this is potentially very time-consuming if there are many links on the page.

  I use a Toshiba Satellite L750 loaded with Windows 7 and Firefox 16.0.

  Problems with the buttons and links at the top of the page does not can be caused by an extension as the toolbar Yahoo! or Babylon that spans both down and covers the top of the browser window and therefore links and buttons in this part of the screen not clickable.

• Will not start after installing the Vista SP2

  Last night my old Vista SP2 computer.  Installation seems to have success, but to restart the computer as part of the installation of automatic update, it failed.  During a part of the boot with a screen similar to BACK sequence, it arrested, printed a msg that appears to be in hexadecimal and would go no further.  Restart with a sequence of hot or cold start to produce the same result.  I tried to correct the problem by using the Startup Repair on the Vista installation disc and received a msg that Windows could not repair the problem itself.  I sent the results to Microsoft using this option in the Startup Repair tool.

  Restore point:

  Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

  Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

  If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:

  As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

  As your can fall into the above category: download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  Yesterday afternoon, my HP desktop PC would not initialize. The progress bar would be continually scroll down with MS logo, and it will never change. I tried unplugging all USB ports and running system recovery.   We had the machine for about 18 months with no problems at all. It is equipped with AMD processors and is running 32-bit Vista Home Premium. I currently have anti-virus protection of software and spyware. I don't think that the office came with a recovery CD. There is a restore disc but I don't know if that was consulted. I tried to boot normally and repair the command prompt startup files with no luck.

  I hope that we bought the extended warranty from Staples, but meanwhile information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  The Advanced Boot Options menu lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting mode. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. Try the loads up in safe MODE , there may be some drivers that are corrupt or using last known good Configuration.

  I suggest you to use any other Windows XP CD and check if you are able to start using the disk.

  The most common problem is the connection of the cable to the screen.  Make sure that it is tight. Check the connection to the motherboard as well, but it's usually OK.

  I have a Toshiba Satelklite Pro L300 and had no problem for the last 4 years. Last Monday, I replaced my hard drive with a new one and after installing a new copy of Windows XP Pro, I have downloaded all the drivers on the official site. After my last update, I have updated the BIOS to version 1.30 to 1.50. After a few seconds my laptop has rebooted and was not able to load Windows and / or recognize my new hard drive.

  I tried several methods, using safe, optimal Bios default etc but was unsuccessful. IO could not even re - install Windows as the hard drive is not being recognized by the laptop. I've formatted the HD again through my desktop Pc, but still have the same problem.

  I am really worried and would like immediate help!

  What happen exactly when you turn on your laptop?

  Set the BIOS as deult and try to install the original recovery image that you got with your laptop. If everything works OK that means upgrading the disk HARD was a success and there is not a serious hardware problem.

  After this check, you can try again to install Windows XP Home edition.
