• Issue of view Nubbie horizon

  Sorry for such a basic question guys, but whole new view of the Horizon and have not gone through yet training classes.

  We run a vSphere environment under Essentials more. We organize three ESXi hosts that contain a server vCenter - running any version 5.5. Recently, we have worked with our hardware/software partner to a VDI environment. Based on their recommendation, we bought two other "physical servers' and the Horizon of VMware View bundle license.

  I thought that the two new "physical servers', we bought basic ESXi hosts, who would be added to our current vSphere environment - BUT does not have the license key model more limit allowing you to run the three only ESXi hosts at the same time?

  I know that the Horizon of VMware View licenses bundle contains a license key for VMware vSphere Desktop licenses.  This license key will allow to add two new "physical servers" to my current vSphere environment as hosts?

  Welcome to the community.

  Yes the company plus license allows you to add three hosts to vCenter server limit. But if you buy a package of sight Horizon you will also get a standard desktop vCenter license.

  Q. I have spare vSphere Enterprise more than licenses. I can use them for virtualization?

  A. Yes, customers with spare vSphere licenses of past purchases it can accommodate a VDI environment.

  Desktop licenses covered by this provision, however, cannot be managed by the same instance of vCenter which is used to manage desktop computers not virtual OS.

  
  

  So, you will need to deploy a different vCenter to manage two new hosts.
  

  The best thing to do would be to write/talk to VMware in this regard. They will clarify all your doubts about licensing.

• Error recovery view chip Essbase - formula question

  I use Hyperion Essbase 11.1.1.3 applications and when I tried to retrieve the data through smart, I get 'Error' in the screenshot below as given cell all.

  

  All cells have below formula. I am able to see the data when I select "Ad Hoc analysis" on the application in the connection manager. But while doing a refresh, all cells are displayed as "error." Please can you provide any solution for this problem.

  If it was working fine previously, while there might be a different problem with the formula HSGetValue. It is really difficult to answer your question; While having as much information; but I went through the same type of questions earlier, I found that the formula of HSGetValue refers to a place like "C:\Program Files\"... ' to point to your location Essbase. What could cause a problem. Also check all cells if they are some of this kind of situation he referred to Smart view. Another thing is that check the formatting of your cells, when you retrieve the values. Formatting sometimes bad also cause a problem. To achieve, in a copy of the solution, the file and try again with a single cell / pov, then focus on the issue, until you found the value of this cell, which can give you more advice to resolve recovered.

• View customer Horizon | Unable to login via the Security Server

  Hello people,

  We strive to deploy VMware View 5.3. Everything is complete we are able to access desktop of customer view through connection to the server. But when we try to connect to the desktop via security server, authentication of the user position get us the attached error.

  Can someone please help me to understand and resolve the error?

  They are essentially the same product, with more recent versions (which contain additional features) coming out under a slightly different name - the order you listed them is also the order of the liberation. VMware VDM has been renamed to VMware View, and when it is included in the Suite of the Horizon, it was changed to Horizon of VMware View. Why do you specifically, the licensing options?

  Hi all

  I am happy to report that I had a positive experience the 5.3 to Horizon view 6 view upgrade last night.  With PCoIP RDS Server connection works like a charm.  However, I get the following error message when you try to access any application that I published in the Admin to view:

  This Application does not support the requested display protocol

  I tried many applications and they all cause the same error.  Any ideas?

  I solved this problem.  Given that I've improved 5,3-6, closed have already been created for me (because I was already using a few RDS servers).  Although I left the default as RDP Protocol, I chose the option allowing users to choose PCoIP or RDP (AFAIK, publishing applications cannot run on PCoIP).  However, it is not enough.  Please make sure that the default protocol is PCoIP.

  To explain further: I have a connection standard RDS users at all as a Server Terminal Server Services, except that they use the view Client and RDP Protocol.  I'm not changing it after the upgrade, so it would not effect all users who have not upgraded to the 3.0 client.  However, I would like to publish some of the applications of this same server, instead of spinning upward another server RDS only for applications.

  In this scenario, the only way to achieve this is to make the default connection protocol PCoIP.  If left like RDP, apparently the application attempts to use RDP as the connection instead of PCoIP Protocol.

  Hi, the company I work for is about to make a deployment of small view, perhaps around 40-45 jobs at the same time.  Do you see an obvious with the following hardware problems or anything else I should look?  Let's run Win7 with probably of 3 GB of RAM and 2vcpu each, configurations of workstation really just standard and nothing too demanding for most.

  A point of view server although things appear. Each server has 128 GB of RAM and CPU should be fine. It really depends on the workload generated by your users '40-50. They are power users? What kind of applications they use? Alternatively, you can consider starting with a smaller amount of memory for each office. Some in this forum have reported good results with 1 GB of memory. We had good performance with 2 GB if memory in our deployments. Getting the right memory size will give your cluster more room for manoeuvre. Do you really need to give each VM 2 vCPUs?

  You should do some calculations to see how'RE Ops / s you need your storage space in order to provide a good user experience. You use linked clones? If so then take a look more close to your storage space. In our case, we also used a SAN Eguallogic. Ours was a hybrid range with half SSD and SAS 15 K disks half. Auto-montage cascading has been activated. It was one heck of a SAN. Simple to set up, easy to use and the performance was great. I don't know about the version you have, but I guess it should work for your needs. Again, you will need to do some math and testing to see what works for you.

  We used the same switches and had no problems. You can experiment with frames. In my case, my supply of linked clone pools improved jumbo frames.

  Good luck with your application. It will be an exciting and fun experience. You should spend some time to know what level of performance, your users will need and what resources you are willing and able to provide. I also noticed that you did not mention on your endpoint devices. What kind of client do you use? A repurposed PC? A thin client any? Take the time to find what works for you and what you and your username. We really liked the Wyse P20.   localhost is your own PC, your OBIEE server is running in your own PC? You use not all ports which means either OBIEE Presentation Services must run in port 80. You must use the same URL that you use your browser to access OBIEE Presentation Services on the Web (e.g. answers, dashboards, etc.).

• View connection Server Log Questions

  I noticed a few things in my view connection server opens a session in one of my environments, and I was hoping someone might be able to specify what I see for me. I tried both of them without a bit of luck so far. So far, there don't seem to be problems caused by one of them that I know, and I see them in my two security servers and connection servers. All guests of my cluster run ESXI 5.0.0 build-474610 and all brokers are View 5.0.0 build-481677.

  This first stroke refers to three distinct data warehouses with the same caveat, and they are all three data warehouses that have been deleted or renamed due to restructuring. They are most referenced by the machines of the view or swimming pools, and all virtual machines have been migrated or removed and pools redirected before the time of the abduction. This warning occurs on every 6 minutes and reads as follows:

  WARN < VirtualCenterDriver-"GUID" > [VirtualCenterDriver] Datastore 'Data store name' not found in ComputeResource / "Name of data center" "/ host /" name of the Cluster

  Forgive me if I should do another discussion for this next (if necessary I will change this and create a new one instead), but the other thing I noticed is that the log shows several times the following entries as well about 25 minutes apart. And although they are INFO the part that worries me, it's that "deleted 24 references entry deleted." it has been the same number of months whenever it came (maybe it's a current account? That would explain it). No details as to what they call actually to would be great (obviously it seems to do with LDAP entries but it's that I get). I'd like to really just to understand what it is exactly, because I don't think that there is a real problem on this one. The entries include the following:

  INFO references < 3188 > input [ws_ldap] 0 collision resolved.
  References to INFORMATION < 3188 input > 24 deleted [ws_ldap] removed.
  INFO [ws_ldap] 0 < 3188 > collision the deleted entries.

  I would like to know if you need more information, or if I should divide these two in separate discussions. Thank you!

  On the first entry on the data may store the adam database still referred to this data store.    If this is the case, I'm sure it can be cleaned in a certain way, but you want to save the adam database before intervening.

• View Win7 optimization Script Questions

  I ran the Script to view optimization Win7 attached to the guide "VMware View 5 performance and best practices" and now want to change a few settings.  The problem is that I can't find where to make the change.  I want to deactivate the required screen saver lock and expire, but cannot very well the value of the register anywhere.  The specific lines are below:

  We use heavy customers, so it became a nusiance for users.  Any ideas?

• VMware View 4.6 upgrade question

  Currently I have VMware View 4.5 installed.  Is it possible to simply upgrade to 4.6 Security brokers to test PCoIP connections through a broker?  Or the agent, composer and Director of view needs to be upgraded as well?

• Two view of the Horizon, active sites: that load swing and what on user profiles?

  Hi all

  I have two questions about an active Horizon view deployment.

  I want to deploy two deployments of Horizon view separate in two places, 400 users in total. Users will have a privileged place in which they use a virtual office (all stateless desktop computers). When the preferential site is unavailable the user should automatically directed to 'other '.

  What load balancer is able to do this?

  • The load balancer must be able to direct users to their favorite site.
  • a single point of entry tot the environment view should be used at all times, for example view.mydomain.com

  How can I get replicated user profiles?

  • In the case of a site failure the user profile must be available on the second site without staff intervention.
  • I was considering Microsoft DFS, but if I understand correctly DFS replication of user profiles is not supported?

• Horizon view license constraints

  I was invited to ask a question about the limitations of the license mode by our office team and what they are allowed to run. Currently we have the following licenses:

  vCenter Server	vCenter Server Standard 6 for Horizon
  See connection to the server	Horizon 6 Standard view
  ESXi hosts	vSphere 6 for desktop PC

  They run an environment seen horizon with desktops VDI running Windows 7 on a cluster of blades ESXi.

  They would like to add a new cluster ESXi on which run Windows 7 virtual machines that are not part of the view of the Horizon / VDI, under the same instance of vCenter. These virtual machines is designed to test applications package for SCCM.

  My understanding is that this is not allowed and they would need an instance separate vCenter to manage this cluster of ESXi and VMs. We have spare parts, Enterprise Plus licenses that could be classified in the new cluster ESXi, but I suspect that he could still not run the instance of vCenter "vCenter Server 6 Standard for Horizon".

  Can someone clarify the on the issue? I was unable to find the official wording of VMware on what is / is not allowed.

  Horizon suite comes with VMware Workstation, which can be used for packing.

  In a virtual office environment Horizon, vSphere Desktop can be used to power the virtual desktop, as well as the underlying infrastructure for the VDI environment. Include the connection to the server, server security, active directory, tracking tools and other infrastructure directly related to and exclusive to the VDI environment. Storage servers, for example, would not be included.
