Virtual machines showing uprotected for HA

Hello

I have two clusters running esxi 5.0.0 474610 on all hosts, I have a few virtual machines showing that they are not protected by HA. Some research has returned I should just uncheck and recheck the HA option, but what effect does this have on the cluster or host themselves? I'm a bit of a newbie to VMware, so I'm still learning, thank you.

The State shows s without protection after you migrate the virtual machine from the cluster. If yes its known problem KB2012682 check

should just uncheck and recheck the HA option, but what effect this has on the cluster or host themselves

Disable and re-enable the cluster will have no impact on the virtual machine

    You can create and start only 32-bit virtual machines, right?

    .. .but if I get a VM to another system comes to every time this error:

    This happens only with VMS 64-bit, right?

    Most likely, you have an Intel processor.  VT - x is necessary for the performance of the VMS 64-bit on Intel processors, and it is likely that the VT - x is turned off in your BIOS.  See troubleshooting problems of Intel VT - x.

  • addition of virtual machine / Server esx for production environment

    Hello

    How can we add virtual machine or esx server for production environment?

    In general... As his "simple terms?

    Install ESXi host

    Install, run and connect to the host via the gateway client installed from the host on an external workstation

    Then

    OR THE OTHER

    Install and run the converter on each physical computer that you want to become a virtual machine

    Once finished, turn off power to virtual and physical.

    OR

    Create a virtual machine and install the o/s CD drive.

    What you want is way off the coast without 1 million questions about your installation.

  • Trying to play an old game, virtual machine need Java for Windows 7 (apparently).

    Yes, probably less technical question ever posted on this forum. I'm playing an old WildTangent game called Dark Orbit. My laptop running Windows 7. I found the game on download.com (chance), but he refuses to start. After searching around for a while, I found a thread on WildTangent forums on this game and mistakes, meet people; a post said of "the error is mainly due to the old version of the WT channel game... and the game does not work because of the lack of virtual machine Java on Windows 7." Anyone have any ideas?

    Here is a link to the topic, if anyone is curious. http://Forum.WildGames.com/topic/15101-original-dark-orbit/

    Then go to java.com and install Java. This is the forum for Java developers.

    What may be referring to is the old Microsoft Java Virtual Machine however wire that was once part of Internet Explorer. If the game that needs you most likely don't not will be able to play it on Windows 7 that Microsoft can't do this no more.

  • Compare the performance of virtual machine using RDM for physical Machine with HBA

    With the help of some great users, I recently converted a node of a cluster, MSCS running Server 2003 and SQL 2000 to a virtual machine for the cluster resulting has a physical node and a virtual node using RDM drives. See http://communities.vmware.com/thread/187822 If you're interested.

    Now my question revolves around performance. Colleagues who manage programs running on that cluster related that a backup every night a database on the thesystem take 10 minutes on a physical hardware and takes 30 minutes. A restoration took 45 minutes and now takes a little less than three hours. Is this kind of drop in performance to be expected? Is there some specific changes that I can look to improve performance.

    The virtual machine works like a single virtual machine on a machine of update3 ESX3.5. ESX server has two processors Quad-cores and 32 GB of ram, 30 GB assigned to the virtual machine.

    Any help or pointers to more information would be greatly appreciated.

    Check your card vSCSI.  If you P2V'ed, you're likely to have a Buslogic adapter.  The Buslogic adapter will limit the length of the queue 1 and limit the I/O.  Replace with the free and see if that helps you.

  • Start the virtual machine and wait for WF, does not connect to the computer virtual for Vds (Windows 2008 R2)

    Hello

    See a strange problem with only a Windows 2008 R2 model. When you use the built-in function "Start VM and wait" workflow to start a virtual machine (after conversion from a template either manually, or through workflow) NIC of the virtual machine (I tried VMXNET3 and e1000 times) does not connect to the problem. Vds can be replicated in a different VCenter, so spreading the vds. I also created several models of Windows 2008 r2 and all have this problem.

    If the model is converted and started outside VRO, it gets an IP from and is connected to the VDS immediately

    Tried add/remove the NIC of the model

    Tried to move the comments on different hosts

    Tried to create a new template from scratch

    NOTE: Windows 2012 R2 doesn't have this problem in the same circles, the only constant is the Windows 2008 R2 being started by VRO.

    Anyone seen this before?

    I found this article and it fixed my problem VMware KB: registration or the deployment of a virtual computer model fails apparently a fix a problem in ESX 5.1, 5.5 (I used the option to get around and things are good)

  • Virtual machines showing several times

    Hey guys,.

    Anyone know why I see VMs appear repeatedly in vCOPS?  The only thing I could think is that cloning could cause that... but I was not cloning.  Any thoughts?  vCOPS Enterprise 5.7

    It looks like you use a solution of mirror/replication such as MRS. vC Ops will pick up the placeholder of virtual machines in a scenario of MRS and fill them, causing duplicate scenario you describe. Are you running SRM or mirror/replication solution?

    I want to look at the resources using the environmental component of the custom user interface. Check the vCenter IDs, "-vm", which will refine to you if it of a clone or not. Name is right, you have to look at the virtual machine single - and UUID to see if there are similarities, and if so, which. Also, check the date column creation to see when they were added, this will tell you when any chance happened which caused the resources "duplicated".

  • Error of JAVA virtual machine when compiling for ios

    I ve created a large project on the implementation of a book.

    Applications consist of a main container (book), that loads external swf (pages).

    Each page can contain some choice of e.g.multiple activities and drag and drop exercises.

    The problem is that everything was fine with the swf external loading until the number of swf is come to a point where this error pops up.

    When I RANDOMLY remove some swf then the project compiles very well even with the AppStore deployment type.

    I tried to change the jvm.ini with higher values for the java heap memory (ex: Xmx4096m) but nothing happened.

    I even used several orders of jvm to disable garbage collection (p. ex. - XX: + DisableExplicitGC) but still the error message.

    The main swf file is 500 KB, and the current number of swf external is 130, and their total area is 50 MB is almost 400 KB each.

    I tested on different machines with 4 GB of ram and a processor i3 and the other with 6 GB of ram and a processor i7.

    I reinstalled flash and used the latest updates as well as the air 4 sdk.

    Could someone help me with this?

    Is there another way to publish the ipa file?

    Thank you.

    Untitled-1.jpg

    Sinious thanks for your reply.

    I tried to compile ADT and it worked using this script from the command line.

    @set java_cmd = "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CC\jre\bin\java.exe"

    @set =-Xmx8192m-jar java_param

    @

    @set adt_cmd = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CC\AIR4.0\lib\adt.jar"

    @set target = ipa-test

    @

    @set cert = samples.p12

    @set cert_pass = 12345

    @set = samples.mobileprovision provisioning

    @

    @set build_file = Testing.ipa

    @set desc_files = test - app.xml

    @set files = Testing.swf assets externalSWF

    @

    java_cmd %%d java_param % % adt_cmd %-package-target % target %-stores pkcs12-keystore % cert %-storepass % cert_pass %-supply - profile %%%d build_file %%d desc_files %%d Files% provisioning

    @

    pause

    However, there is now a different problem.

    When you try to compile more than a certain number of external SWFs (eg. 350) while the process never ends. The java.exe process consumes all of my memory, and it's just stuck there for hours (I waited so he can compile for nearly 10 hours before I killed the process java.exe). When I remove randomly some SWFs then everything is fine, and the process ends after nearly half an hour or so.

    The pc I use has a processor i7 with 16 GB of ram and the java process consumes everything, even if I set myself a limit using the - Xmx8192m command.

    Is there a problem with the xmx command?

    Do I need still more ram to compile as many sovereign wealth funds.

    Is there a way to monitor the java process in order to intercept errors that occur or may use any other java params to control ram usage limits?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Folder path as a VM property - for virtual machines in a paralytic

    Hello

    I used the new-viproperty of LucD script to create a folder for each virtual computer property in my inventory. It works perfectly well for virtual machines, but not for virtual machines in a paralytic as these do not have a 'record' in powercli property. they report a $null value.

    Would be much appreciated if someone can help me to modify this script so it creates a VM property for the VMS and VMs in a paralytic?

  • ESXi 5 - Longmode is disabled for this virtual machine.

    Hello

    I installed ESXi 5.0.0 469512 on a Dell Optiplex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor @ 3 .00GHz with 4 GB of RAM. In the BIOS (version A21), I have the following options enabled:

    Performance-

    Virtualization: on

    VT for direct i/o: on

    Execution of trust: on

    Security-

    TPM security: on

    Activation of the TPM secure: assets

    Execute Disable: on

    I am unable to run any 64-bit OSs. For example, when I try to start vMA VM 5.0, I get the following Message from the Virtual Machine:

    "This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit operating systems. However, the 64-bit mode is not possible.

    Longmode is disabled for this virtual machine.
    For more information, see http://VMware.com/info?id=152 .
    Continue without 64 bit support? »

    I ran the "processor check for 64-bit compatibility ' and if confirmed I can run 64-bit guest OS.

    I tried to add vhv.allow = "TRUE" to/etc/vmware/config, but it made no difference.

    In the vmware.log file is that it makes meantion 'virtualization software is incompatible with the long mode on this platform. Disabling longmode. "I have attached the full logfile for details.

    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you Paul.

    According to the log file

    Frequent: MSR 0x3a = 0x3--> currently '0011', should be 'x 1 x 1 "'.

    VT - x is not enabled (bit 0 + 2 required)

    There were other debates, where that allows "Trusted execution" cause problems. I "suggest that you configure the settings of the BIOS as follows:"

    Performance-

    Virtualization: on (assuming it's VT - x)

    VT for direct i/o: Off (unless you need it)

    Execution of trust: Off

    Security-

    The TPM secure security: Off

    Activation of the TPM secure: inactive

    Execute Disable: on

    After you change the settings, you will need to power cycle the system.

  • Maximum number of virtual disk for a virtual machine in vSphere 4.1

    I read the maximum record rate and see that the maximum number of virtual disk is 16 for FT.

    I have the same document I seem not to be able to see the number max of virtual disk that can be taken in charge for a virtual machine.

    The number will be the same as the number of LUNS per host which is 256?  I know the max is for the host, but that be will come the number of Director to the total number of virtual disk that can be supported in the virtual machine?

    In fact, in a logic unit number, we can have more than one data store that can be mapped to a virtual disk.

    I'm confused.

    Thank you and have a nice week,

    Anthony.

    If I am not mistaken, you can attach up to 60 virtual disks to a virtual machine. 15 for each of the 4 virtual SCSI controllers.

  • Virtual machine vacuum health

    Hi guys.

    I have vRealize Operations Manager 6.2, all collectors running. But, when I want to see the health of the Virtual Machine, he didn't show!

    vRops_health.jpg

    Do you know why?

    Other indicators kpi works very well.

    vRops_diagnose.jpg

    Thank you.

    The badge of health is exclusively led by active alerts for this item: If you have no alerts, it remains empty "without health problems. To prove that everything is fine, you can create an alert to critical health for virtual machines and wait for it to appear. Or you can activate the policy Hardening Guide then you will immediately see the badge risk get orange or red. If you have numbers inside the badges in mind (Score of health) - the numbers are gone since version 6.0.

    one option is to export the virtual machine (in the 'File' menu) as an OVF/EGGS.

  • is it possible that an application on a virtual machine is faster than in its host?

    To measure the performance of our software on vmware, compare us the performance of vm compared to its host machine.

    We found that performance on three different machines showed a very different behavior, of 50% slower at 10% slower.

    And the strangest thing is that there is a single machine, his vm is faster than its host.

    Any help on the possible reasons is appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Additional information:

    The application is time CPU,.

    CentOS 6.2 for the vm and host,

    VMware Workstation 10.0.1 build-1379776

    Hardware Dell R720VM vs host
    Xeon 2 CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00 GHz 12-Core, 32 GB-50%
    Xeon 2 E5-2650 V2 2.60 GHz, 16 Core CPU, 32 GB-10%
    Xeon 2 E5-2630 0 @ 2.30 GHz, 12 Core CPU, 64 GB20%

    After eliminating the various factors, we finally understood the cause: hyper threading

    After that we switched off the hyper threading, everything became normal, the slower and faster virtual machines showed same performance.

    Host performance has even improved, about 10-20% faster than the virtual machine.

    Hope that this experience and this information can be useful for others in the future...

  • Confused by the strategy of allocation of ram ESX virtual machines

    Hello

    I have a "MS SBS 2003 R2 premium" production virtual machine running on ESX 3.5.0 build 123630: VM has 4 GB of allocated RAM.

    On this virtual machine, all processes are running (IE exchange, sql server, antivirus, antispam, mail, archiving,... etc.) and some of them are performing badly (especially exchange and sql mail archiving database); While working on the optimization with the machine to a single application they analized the use of resources within SBS 2003 and told me that there is not enough RAM (only 300 M. By the way it seems to me that on an OS Server using a lot of free ram is a waste of resources, but it is another point...).

    Looking at the windows Task Manager (see attached screenshots) is confirmed, but control use of RAM for RAM usage average VM (with infrastructure VI client) is between 1 and 1.5 GB during working hours (09:00 - 20:00).

    I'm confused: If there are so many processes within the VM asking for memory, why ESX gives only a third of the RAM allocated to the VM? And as all the other 3 GB, are they paged to disk?

    Thanks in advance to help my understanding.

    Guido

    Don't forget the vmkernel activiely tries to save on the memory usage - the tool is Transparent PAge Sharing - ability to the vmkernel to identify identical memory pages and store it once read only memory - so you could very easily have guest o/s of the virtual machine showing that it is using 4 GB but the esx server is only show that vm use - less

    Now on your poor perfromance - what is the configuration of your server ESX - memory, CPU? How many virtual machines are hosted, and what are the respective configurastions - mem, # viretual UC? With a large file of the PAge check the performance graph and see how much memory ball is active, if any?
