Virtual XP does not start

Hi, I use Windows 7 ultimate that I had installed the virtual on XP.  It worked rather well.  Then, I had some computer problems and had to have made a "major" repair  Now, I can't run Virtual XP.  Shortcuts are gone.  If I try to start going to start and you are looking for a program that is running XP, I get the error:

There was a problem starting C:\windows\system32\VMCPropertyHandler.dll the specified module could not be found.

I started by trying to reinstall Virtual XP.  But he said that it was already there.  I would rather not uninstall and reinstall because I would lose some data and programs.  There are good solutions out there?

Did you try to reinstall Windows Virtual PC as which seemed to work here and here .

  • Virtual machine does not start after restoring from Time Machine to the new Imac

I got my IMac replaced by Apple, after that they could not fix the old one.  They did a full restore from a Time Machine backup.  The virtual machine does not open now.   When I navigate to the file to try to open the virtual machine at the VMware logo in the bottom right of the icon displayed with large yellow exclamation appears on the icon?  Anyone encountered this problem before.  I'll take the Imac in Saturday if I can not solve.  The machine has the same size as before.  There are a few aspects of sharing with the Mac application miss me?

According to the MacVirt.vmdk folder, you have the right number of segments of shared disk so you should be able to create a new VM by pointing to the disc in the new VM Wizard by pointing to the MacVirt.vmdk file.

Note: After you create the new Virtual Machine, I would not suggest the Virtual Machine to stop, pause and close merge and then move all *.vmdk files in the package of the virtual machine, and then manually change the computer configuration files virtual .vmx and change the path to a little to view the MacVirt.vmdk file.  In this way, everything is in one package and is easier to maintain.

  • Virtual machine does not start and...

    Dear vmware forums community,

    I have a problem, I use VMware Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739

However, I have some problems using it.

First of all, VMware does not allow me to start one of my Virtual Machines, when I click on 'Open' Options tab still does not open.

Secondly, I can't install Virtual Machines since yesterday. These two problems came today when I turned on my host PC.

I tried to do the two things by using VMplayer, it does the same thing as VMware Workstation.

I also tried to uninstall VMware and install again and also I tried to delete the .lck files and it does not work.

Yesterday, when it was all working well, I turned off the virtual machines by the following method, ' turn off this machine "or something like that (I clicked on the cross in the name of the machine)

I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

In this case - even if you have already uninstalled/installed VMware Workstation - I would recommend that do you it again. This time, clean install and reboot the system before you re-install. How to clean and a script, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1308

  • Help please... Replaced the hard drive of MBP, restored from TM, but the Windows XP virtual machine does not start

I replaced the 250 GB hard drive in my MacBook Pro early 2009 with a 500 GB drive, it the Mac OS extended (journaled) format and restored from my Time Machine backup.

Now when I try to start my Windows XP virtual machine (using Fusion 2.0.6... planning upgrade to 3.1.2 but wanted to validate all was well first), I get BSOD, even in safe mode.

I have my vm separately saved on a network drive data files based on things that I had read before, I do not think that TM backup of virtual machines. However, a friend with a similar setup with more knowledge I think because I could see my Windows XP vm VMWare listed under 'Documents' in Time Machine showing its full size, it has actually saved and there restore it. Apparently he has done this successfully before.

Should I have partitioned the hard drive? I don't think that my previous drive has been partitioned. Don't know what to do now.

    TIA!

    Katie

To be clear: you have restored VMs from the disk or network time Machine?  And if the network drive, what backup method you use?  (i.e.: have you just copied engine off the computer virtual package or not?)  Can you copy/restore the virtual machine to the network again drive?  What is a virtual machine that has the error, or other virtual machines have problems?

Time Machine backup correctly a virtual power off machine. But since Time Machine works automatically, you often will get not a consistent backup unless you do some tricks to make sure Time Machine backup only when you use a virtual machine.  (i.e.: turn on Time Machine only when you're done with the virtual machine.)  Thus, it is normally recommended to exclude the virtual machines from Time Machine and use another method to back up virtual machines.  Your friend is lucky or is only backup virtual machines powered off.

Should I have partitioned the hard drive? I don't think that my previous drive has been partitioned. Don't know what to do now.

The Mac player Paritioning is unnecessary unless you use Boot Camp or have required another for the partition.

  • Windows XP mode virtual machine does not start after the upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello

After the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro, my virtual Windows XP machine (which was created from the "XP" mode in Windows 7) no longer starts.

    It shows:

This system is not allowed to run "Windows XP Mode". Now, the virtual machine will be turned off.

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

    VMware Workstation 12.1

    Hello

How can I activate the Windows XP Mode in Windows 10 Pro? I mean, I have not lost my right to run Windows XP Mode, just because I've upgraded to Windows 10, right?

I fear that the statement is pretty much on the mark.

Microsoft caught only supported XP Mode in Windows 7, it has been since Windows 8.

    See also:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/2724115

You might be able to extract the folder integer vhd it and import it in VMware Workstation as a separate virtual machine. In the end, 'XP Mode' just was running a virtual machine in your Windows 7 after all.

  • Machine virtual Windows does not start on the MBP retina with 10.9 Mavericks DP3

Mavericks 10.9 DP3 running on a MacBook Pro 15 "with Retina display 2012 and the TP2013 merger causes the following problem:

None of my virtual machines created in Fusion 5.0.3 will begin.  I have Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 8 x 64.  I also tried to create a new virtual machine from Windows 8 x 64 with all defaults under the technology preview, and the same problem occurs just after the BIOS screen clears, and above all expected Windows 8 installer would (do not press any key to start from DVD, etc.).

VMware Fusion has encountered an error and has stopped Windows.

Click on restart Windows to start Windows again. Click report to collect data and to ask the support of VMware.

    [Ignore]     [Report...]     [Restart Windows]

Ignore everything stops the system down

I have reports of existing Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 8 x 64 virtual machines as well as the test of the virtual machine.

Windows 8 x 64 gives this error in a black translucent dialog box appears when starting a VM Windows 8 x 64, nine (before installation) or not:

No 3D support is available in the host.

3D virtual machine functions will be disabled.

Windows Server 2008 R2 VM will display the EFI boot screen, then if you press F8 and choose recovery it will start loading the recovery files, but when it gets to the point where windows graphics loading screen with the Windows logo would be (after "Windows is loading files" text screen with the bar at the bottom, but before the GUI) you only ever see the graphic display and it crashes

Opening of Fusion 5.0.3 and closing the Tech Preview, the virtual machines will be load without problem; no boot time error either.

Seems to have something to do with the graphics, but still - no similar problems with 5.0.3

    Hi Siobhan,

Thank you for reporting this issue. I checked your vmware.log and found this problem has been reported by an internal user, the internal PR is 1047175. Now it is fixed in the latest internal version. Since 10.9 comes after tech Fusion preview release, the issue is expected. Please be patient to wait for the next release of Fusion. Thank you.

  • Virtual drive does not start

I'm using VMware Workstation with a Red Hat operating system.  It worked fine last night with no problems. Today, I started Vmware Workstation and received the initial screen after turning on my Red Hat virtual, but who is she got. Nothing but a black screen. I rebooted several times with the same results. Is there a solution to this? Yes, I know it just use the backup. Sorry, no backup. Only this race for 3 weeks and have not created a. All solutions are appreciated before back to the drawing board.

I think I know what is wrong:

your virtual machine currently uses a badly formatted floppy image.
Delete this image - and add it again when the virtual machine is completely revived - then format it correctly.

Never assign newly or badly formatted disks so that they begin to connected.

  • Virtual machine does not start after completing a physical machine coversion

I used VMWare Converter 5.5.3 to create a virtual machine from an existing, Windows Pro 8.1 laptop from work.  The conversion process has indicated no error.  When I try to start the virtual machine on a different host, however, he died almost immediately.  I'm using VMWare Workstation 9.0.4, my host OS is Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and the guest operating system is Windows Pro 8.1 (64-bit).

When it comes on, I see 'VMware' logo instead of loading and after a few seconds, the computer virtual turns off with no visible error message.  I tried to run the virtual machine on multiple machines, and both have the same results.  Host machines running all other virtual machines I tried without problem.

I tried to change some of the parameters of the virtual machine via the GUI, but nothing seems to affect behavior.  I ran the other VMs Pro 8.1 of Windows on this computer before host, it's just this particular virtual machine.

I attached the zip file management tool of data collection to support, as well as the vmware.log file.

Can someone point me in the right direction of a cause or a resolution to this problem?  Thank you in advance.

I was able to do some additional research after I posted and found the relevant error in the log:

PCIXHCI: Cannot save the PCIe xHCI hardware

I found this vmware KB article that describes the problem:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=2041591

Once I set the VM to use USB 2.0 (instead of 3.0), it starts as expected.

  • Virtual machines does not start - no error, no tab opens

Hi all, I have problems with VM Workstation 6.5 on Windows 7 64-bit.

My VMs have worked in the past.  Now, for some reason when I try to open a virtual machine, that nothing is happening.   No error, no tab opens.  only thing I noticed, is that a .lck file is created in the folder of the virtual machine.

So basically I have open VM Workstation, go to file-> open (or simply click the icon open Existin VM) and try to open any of my VMs 5 1 and nothing happens.

I tried to uninstall, reinstall, repair several times and nothing has worked yet.

    any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    likely reasons:

    misconfigured firewall Antivirus or desktop

Please also check if a process named webcam.exe or fixcamera.exe is in course of execution - if yes - disable

on the update... IMHO, there is no reason pressing up-to-date 7.1 - 6.5.4 is good enough

  • Windows 2008 R2 on HP ML115 restored to VM does not start with BSOD Stop 0x0000007B

As a contingency plan for our server HP ML115 running Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation, we want to restore the backup created with windows (optional bare metal) backup to a virtual machine under VMware player 3.1.2. Restored boot fails with BSOD Stop 0x0000007B. Initially, the machine works with the integrated Nvidia RAID controller. We tried with the converter to migrate the image to the new disk controller, but the virtual machine does not start. Any attempts to install the driver LSI SAS 3000 in the physical machine failed because the seller and models do not appear in the console devmgmt even if we are using the corresponding diskette/driver.

Any tips are appreciated. Thank you.

You may need to start the virtual machine with an Image of CD/DVD/ISO OS appropriate Live with the ability to edit the Windows registry on the client, and clear the nonexistent controller while allowing the new virtual controller and add the driver if necessary and check the .vmx config file is to show the controller suitable as well.  I did not go with your particular scenario however have done with similar cases so it's doable.

  • Merger of WinXP VM does not start using the workstation

I have a virtual Windows XP computer that was created using Fusion 2.0 that I can't seem to start under Workstation 6.5.3 or Workstation 7 RC.  When starting under my computer, the virtual machine does not start and simply display a flashing cursor in the upper left corner of the screen.
