Virtual XP mode under WIN7

I have virtual XP in WIN7 that worked very well in the last 5 years.

Recently installed iolo system shiled on it, and as I see not the START menu. XP arrives in the small window with no option to resize.

I have WindowsXPMode_en-we and Windows6. 1 - KB958559 - x 64-RefreshPkg installed. When you try to reinstall the two file, I get the error message they are already installed.

Should I uninstall and reinstall?    What are the side effects?    I'm going to loss my VM data?

Help! Help! Help!

C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtual Machines I see 3 files:

Type of Windows XP Mode VHD size of 42 GB

Windows XP Mode type size of 16 k virtual machine configuration file

Windows XP Mode.vmc.vpcbackup size 16 k

also integration features are turned on even when I manually activated via Windows XP Mode file SETTINGS in the C:\Users\MyName\Virtual Machines.

When XP comes up, "To enable the integration features" is grayed out.

  • LV2010 32-bit under Win7 64 bit - SCC provider not found

Is there a work around to use a provider of Source control with LV2010 32-bit under Win7 64-bit?

It seems that the VI 'Raspberry find all Providers.vi' does not work with the OS 64-bit due to registry access restrictions.

The Key.vi of open registry is not able to analyse below HKey SOFTWARE but the full path is SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders.

    Best regards

    Christian

By reading this thread http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/LabVIEW-32-bit-and-Vista-64-Registry-Read/m-p/978676#M438513 , I was able to get a work around.

I replaced the version registry key VI opened by the ".vi ACI - WinAPI - open registry key (WOW64 support)" within raspberry NI find all the Providers.vi and now I can choose the SCC provider installed via the LabVIEW IDE-tools >-> Source code control-> configure source control.

  • How to rename tasks scheduled under win7?

I would like to know how to rename tasks scheduled under win7

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

It can't be renamed directly, but if you export the task at any place, then re-import, it can be renamed during the import process.

Then just delete the old task.

  • Use the ROW box in virtual compatibility mode.

    Hi all

Can anyone tell me please what is the case of Virtual Compatibility Mode RDM?

I know, it supports instant of vsphere. other use cases?

    Thank you best regards n

One of the use cases may be to use clusters in a box (host).

If you need to create clusters between several boxes, you can use physical RDM mode.

  • 2.04 Ubuntu comments on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7 can't see ext4 USB drive

Comments from 2.04 Ubuntu on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7: on computer A trivially, I connected to an out-of-the-box 64 GB USB drive formatted for VFAT on Ubuntu in a VM. I re-init'ed the player for ext4 (mkfs.ext4), mounted, drop a bunch of stuff on him (which took awhile), he dismounted and walked away. The next day, identically configured computer B, I inserted the USB key. Natch, Win7 may not go up because it does not ext4. But Ubuntu don't see either, so I can't be installed. Do not see under removable devices, no small icon bottom left of the screen of VMware, nothing in the settings menus or properties, etc. I think it's just me being a noob to VMware, but it seems that Ubuntu under VMware Workstation 9 cannot see the drive unless Win7 can go up. Seems unlikely. KB searching, Googling, etc. produce many unrelated things. Ideas? AdvTHANKSance.

Here is the final answer: works great on an earlier version of VMware Workstation 9 on one of the Windows 7 of my client machines, it didn't work on my Windows 7 computer. I upgraded to VMware Workstation 10 on my Windows 7 computer, and now it works perfectly. If I call you this a bug in this version later 9 which was set at 10. Could also be had I simply uninstalled 9 and reinstalled which would have fixed it too. But I'll never know.

  • Convert a physical compatibility mode raw device mapping to a virtual compatibility mode raw device mapping

    Hello forum,.

I have a virtual machine that got a RDM in physical Compatibility Mode, so I can't create snapshots of this disc.

Is there a way to convert this ROW to a virtual Compatibility Mode to allow the creation of the snapshot?

The client must create a snapshot tomorrow in order to update the database. In case of failure it would be easy to write the snapshot again.

    Hope you understand my problem.

    concerning

    Dennis

Assuming that the RDM is attached to a single virtual computer, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006599

Conversely, virtual and physical memory ROW, make sure you have deleted (Clerk) the snapshot before you remove the disk devices to the virtual machine, otherwise you will lose changed data!

  • Extend the ROW when the disk is in virtual compatibility mode.

Hello everyone, thank you very much for any help that you need to make.

I am trying to extend a volume. The volume is a RDM. It is configured in virtual Compatibility Mode.

I am able to extend the Lun on the SAN. When I do a new analysis in Virtual Center I see large volume. But when I go into Windows OS disk manager and rescan the disks I don't see extended volumes.

I tried using the physical compatibility mode and it works.

How can I go on the extension of this volume? Is it possible to do while the server is?

    Jeff

There is no way I know to extend the RDM virt without virtual machine being down for a certain period of time.

The advantage of virtual compatibility mode is tha ROW can participate in snapshots and behaves more like a vmdk. There are advantages and disadvantages of each type. See

  • A WIN7 in virtual XP mode can join a network working group?

On a network of workstations XP working group and a Win 2000 Server, when I go into virtual XP on a new Win7 Professional workstation, I can not find the server on the network. In fact, I see no other workstations.

The Win7 machine is on the network, just the virtual xp seems not to join. Any suggestions?

Go to the settings for the XP mode and make sure it uses the real material network adapter and not the shared map.

  • Legality of the XP Mode under VMWare

    Hello

I have an old application that can be installed on Windows XP. I bought a new PC with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. If I managed to install XP Mode and run it with Virtual PC. Unfortunately, the application uses the parallel port (LPT1) with a hardware activation key. I understand that the parallel ports are not functional under Virtual PC so I decided to import XP Mode in VMWare Player Standalone converter. I had a problem of activation at the start of the imported virtual machine.
I followed the steps described in the following note on VMWare forum and my interpretation is that the solution is legal.
I also read the next note, but the answer is not clear enough.
I wonder if this is legal in all. I need a clear answer so I can ask the customer to buy a license or not. The virtual machine will still run on the original PC I just bought and the Virtual PC and XP Mode will always be installed on the PC but not executed.
    Thank you
