network of virtual xp mode problem

I use virtual XP mode on a windows 7 Dell.  No problem to see the other computers on the win7 host via a wired network, NS, but when I try to access your network in the virtual XP mode I'm not always able to do.  I get an error that the server is not accessible. "you are not allowed to use this network resource... Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions... »

Thank you!

  • problems of network on virtual servers

    Hi all

I have vCenter 4.1 and 4 hosts (ESX and ESXi 4.1) with several virtual servers on each host + CF as data store

On each host are switch standard with several networks of vm - all hosts are clustered HA.

On each switch are two nic mode of teamwork.

When I tried to migrate virtual server connectivity (using vMotion) network of virtual servers is one host to another I lost - I unplug the network adapter in the virtual machine settings and connect the back - then all is well again.

I tried to change vm network different network, then again - also helps.

I tried this time migration batch and this problem are in most cases.

In vCenter Evens are no cases on this issue.

I do not understand where to look for problem - suggestions?

    Thank you

    Marc Alain

There is no newspaper vSwitch, se.  As the vSwitch don't not participate in protocols spanning tree, spanning tree options in general do not import with ESX hosts.  Get your network to hell team all together is generally not welcomed.

PortFast, however, must be activated as posted above.  You will need to make sure portfast is enabled on your access level switch.  If they are in the system blade, then you must ensure portfast is enabled at this level.

After a migration, without portfast, the migrated nic should finally come, and you should be able to see the mac in case address.  Are you able to see it?

  • How can I reinstall (lost) Windows Virtual XP Mode in Windows 7 using the previous or your virtual hard disks?

I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Pro X 64 to address an obscure problem. In doing so, I lost my virtual XP Mode of Windows installation. But I still have the virtual hard drive related.

    1. Can I reinstall the VXP in order to use the old hard drive virtual?
    2. If I reinstall VXP using the VHD file, will be what I have already installed there would still be available?

  • Networking between virtual machines on different hosts

    Hello

I need some advice on the basic approach to networking between virtual machines, each running on a different host machine.

    Consider the following configuration:

I have a few processes that are running in a Machine virtual Ubuntu. Call this guest1.  I guest1 race inside a real computer running Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 1.

I have a copy of this virtual machine that I put on another machine.  Call this Guest2.  I have Guest2 running on a separate physical computer, also runs Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 2.

Now, I would like to guest1 and 2 comments to make networking with eachother.  I wish they were able to ping, SSH, etc., among others.

This is where I am stuck. I tried setting the virtual machines to use the bridged network mode.  I tried to connect my router on each computer and manually assigning IP addresses to each host and each virtual computer.  When I do this, guest1 can Host1 and Host2 ping, but cannot ping Guest2 and vice versa.

What is the right way to do this kind of network?  This seems like an obvious application, if you want to perform simulations on multiple virtual machines residing on different computers on the network.

I apologize if this is the answer elsewhere, I had to dig and was not able to find the solution.

    Thanks in advance!

    Charles

Guests must be on the same subnet, like 'real' hardware machines.

1 when you copied the VM and then started, what did answer you the question of copy/move? (this determines if a new MAC address is applied)

2 view each guest and ' ipconfig/all' results 'ifconfig - a' by the hosts.

  • Convert a physical compatibility mode raw device mapping to a virtual compatibility mode raw device mapping

    Hello forum,.

I have a virtual machine that got a RDM in physical Compatibility Mode, so I can't create snapshots of this disc.

Is there a way to convert this ROW to a virtual Compatibility Mode to allow the creation of the snapshot?

The client must create a snapshot tomorrow in order to update the database. In case of failure it would be easy to write the snapshot again.

    Hope you understand my problem.

    concerning

    Dennis

Assuming that the RDM is attached to a single virtual computer, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1006599

Conversely, virtual and physical memory ROW, make sure you have deleted (Clerk) the snapshot before you remove the disk devices to the virtual machine, otherwise you will lose changed data!

  • Virtual PC resolution problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. I have Windows 7 and you are running Windows XP in Virtual PC mode. I have some programs that are not yet supported by Windows 7. My normal screen resolution is 1366 x 768, when I run in the Virtual PC mode of my resolution decreases up to 1360 x 766, this is unacceptable to some of the necessary programs, the minimum is 1060 x 768. It only allows me to increase the resolution in the display properties. How can I change this resolution for the acceptable level for programs needed?

  • Use the ROW box in virtual compatibility mode.

    Hi all

Can anyone tell me please what is the case of Virtual Compatibility Mode RDM?

I know, it supports instant of vsphere. other use cases?

    Thank you best regards n

One of the use cases may be to use clusters in a box (host).

If you need to create clusters between several boxes, you can use physical RDM mode.

  • "this host is not no matter what networks of virtual machine, or you don't have the permission to access ' ESXi V4

I'm sure I'll be stupid on this one, but what does do to ensure that networks of virtual machine?  I get this message when I look at network/properties of a VM adapter 1.

When the virtual computer runs, my network card think the cable is disconnected.

I went to the host properties and of course there is a 'Virtual Machine port group"and a"VMKernel Port", both connected to my physical card.

I don't see anything obvious on the network are disabled or anything like that.

Please give me a hint?  Virtual machines to run it, but without any network connectivity.

    Thank you

    Joe

I had this on the virtual machines that I moved from VMware Server 2.0. I found that there is no entry for the "ethernet0.networkName" in the .vmx files Server 2 (and probably Workstation) do not seem to care and connect ethernet0 to the first configured network. ESXi 4 all confused. So for me, the solution was to add

    ethernet0.networkName = 'Hand Lan'

for each file .vmx before adding them for ESX. If you have already added the machine, you will need to remove it before you edit the .vmx file.

  • Extend the ROW when the disk is in virtual compatibility mode.

Hello everyone, thank you very much for any help that you need to make.

I am trying to extend a volume. The volume is a RDM. It is configured in virtual Compatibility Mode.

I am able to extend the Lun on the SAN. When I do a new analysis in Virtual Center I see large volume. But when I go into Windows OS disk manager and rescan the disks I don't see extended volumes.

I tried using the physical compatibility mode and it works.

How can I go on the extension of this volume? Is it possible to do while the server is?

    Jeff

There is no way I know to extend the RDM virt without virtual machine being down for a certain period of time.

The advantage of virtual compatibility mode is tha ROW can participate in snapshots and behaves more like a vmdk. There are advantages and disadvantages of each type. See

  • Network TCP/IP XP mode connection problem

I just bought Windows 7 pro and installed XP mode in order to run programs that only work with xp.   My question is that some can tell me how I can connect to a specific network in xp mode.

    Hello

Virtual machines use the hardware of the host, but for their own internal use, they imitate their own material.

XP-Mode is always 'wired' even if it is co tailing on a wireless card. For example, you cannot run a XP-Mode Wireless. A valid connection is chosen by the

Host and the virtual machine uses a card PCI of Wired Intel 100 Mb/s, getting its signal of the current host connection.

When you configure the updated virtual computer to use the adapter on the host computer.

http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/XP-mode-NIC.jpg (This is done in the general framework of the VPC).

If you have a router with DHCP, it will then automatically obtain an IP address as a standalone computer.

Otherwise (in the XP VPC ), examine the properties of the network card and configured its TCP/IP as you would with any other XP Pro computer in network.

You can use the static IP address or set it to automatic get.

For example, http://www.ezlan.net/example/tcp2.jpg (this is done inside of the EPM XP Mode, it runs active on the screen).

Set the static IP address under Win XP, http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

    -----------------

When all the foregoing is configured correctly, the XP-Mode acts as a standalone computer on the network. It follows all the ordinary rules of connection to local networks, sharing files and printers, as well as connecting to the Internet on its own.

  • Windows XP with Virtual PC mode will not be installed / two problems

    Hello!
I have Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) and I want to follow the instructions here:

    https://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Virtual-PC/Download.aspx?runGenuineCheck=true&system=5&lang=4&ButtonClicked=winXpMode

to install and run Virtual PC so I can see if some legacy XP software I have will work.

FYI, I use a Lenovo W520 laptop with an i7 to 2.4 ghz with 8 GB of RAM.

I followed step 1/2 and downloaded the file of 500 MB for Windows XP Mode.  I installed it.

: #1 there is a note at the bottom of the page that says "once you have installed Windows XP Mode, click the Windows 7 start button, then select all programs > Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode to begin the installation." For more information about how to configure Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode, see "Running Windows XP Mode with Windows Virtual PC" on page Support and videos . "

I am looking at the view of all programs and there is absolutely nothing that says "Windows Virtual PC" or "Windows XP Mode".  I look at the programs and features in the control panel and indeed, Windows XP mode is installed (and taking up 1.13 GB).  I have uninstall and re-download the 500 MB file and reinstall it.  It is not always appear in the sight of all programs, does not add an icon to my bar quick launch or desktop or anything that suggests a way to start.  It is located in C:\Program Files\Windows XP Mode, but there is no executable file it.

Problem #2: Step 3 says "Download Windows Virtual PC".  When I click on this button, the download starts, but never works (I tried several times, notably after a clean reboot, with nothing other than the execution of Internet Explorer); I get an error window that says:

    Windows Update Standalone install

Setup has encountered an error: 0 x 80070422

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him.

    What's not?

    Thank you.

Notes; After the announcement of this issue, some Associates questions skipped upward and I read through them.  Points of a post on this forum-> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html , which suggests that the #2 problem is my problem because I followed along until ste #5-E and then I get the error message 0 x 80070422.

On a network of workstations XP working group and a Win 2000 Server, when I go into virtual XP on a new Win7 Professional workstation, I can not find the server on the network. In fact, I see no other workstations.

Thus, a service blocking your internet connection, in this case. It is usually a firewall. Check your internet security and your Windows Firewall settings. If this does not work, you will need to go through the process of elimination to find which blocks the internet:

    1. Click Start
    2. in the search bar, type "msconfig".
    3. in the general tab: move the bubble in 'selective startup '.
    4. "load system services" and "Load Startup items" must be verified at the moment
    5. switch to the services tab
    6. Click on the box at the bottom for "hide all microsoft services".
    7. Uncheck all options
    8. Restart
    9. see if the internet works
    10. If this is not the case, go back to the services tab and begin to get rid of microsoft services, until you find what blocks your internet connection
