• Restore the sparsebundle timemachine on virtualbox

  First of all, sorry for my bad English, I'm from the France... ;-)

  I'm on mac pro early 2009. I got another mac in the past. I've tried for a few days to convert this old mac timemachine sparsebundle vdi.

  This sparsebundle is password protect, but I remember :-)!

  The sparsebundle is located on my synology NAS (outside the record of timemachine used now)

  My old mac was a mini in Mavericks.

  Then I started the installation on VirtualBox with hope Mavericks my sparsebundle will be discovered by restore from time machine (at the beginning of the installation process).

  I first converted my dmg sparsebundle and attach this sata drive dmg but this sata drive is not found (by time machine or utility disks restore utility).

  Then, I convert this dmg/DVI: same result (no = no results!).

  I decided to finish the installation of the Mavericks, just to try and do not stay on a failure.

  In this way, when Mavericks was fully usable, I discovered that my vdi file has been unreadabled... (Mavericks offered to initialize it).

  My second try was a method I used on real mac successfully... but not here :-(

  In my VM fully operational Maverick, I created a new great drive hard virtual vdi. I mounted my sparsebundled and I copied files and folders located in the folder "Last" of the sparsebundled at the root of the virtual hard disk. I have shut down the virtual machine, put the new virtual hard disk as disk drive only sata hard and load the installer dmg Maverick perspective.

  I started the virtual machine (the disk hard not bootabled at the moment) and start the installation process on the hard disk of vdi. The actual computer, I have had success with this methob, but here, towards the end of the process of this fail with an error message ("please contact the software publisher").

  I'm lost now and I have no more ideas! Maybe I failed in my approach to the first method (why my vdi is not readabled?). I'd rather ask for help here before trying another action beacause my sparsebundle is 40 GB and all try to take some time.

  I have a Satellite Pro U400, on which I am running Ubuntu 8.10 and XP virtualized by Sun xVM Virtualbox (non-free version). I installed the omnibook module and got Bluetooth on Ubuntu, and I installed the XP Toshiba bluetooth stack.

  The device seems works well but connection using my mobile phone from Sony Ericsson doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else tried something similar and got it work?

• What free security programs are best suited to Windows Server 2008R2 running in VirtualBox?

  I installed Windows Server 2008R2 comments in VirtualBox with a host of Windows 7. It is my first experience with servers. As part of the installation and configuration, I want to install a lightweight, reliable and user friendly program. Microsoft Security Essentials would be ideal if it is compatible as I am familiar with MSSE, and as its performance. My research to date is back of contradictory information about MSSE: incompatible, use the version for Vista/7, choose from a list.

  I'm hoping to get a recommendation based on personal experience rather than a list of programs. I went through a list of compatible security programs, but I'm not familiar with most of the programs listed.

  I installed Windows 2008 R2 64-bit Enterprise edition, build 7600

  the client blocks at different times of the day, and I can't

• Re-not installed XP in VirtualBox - no activation

  A few months ago, I installed XP in VirtualBox, in order to access certain documents of Lotus's SmartSuite.  Everything was going fine until I had a catastrophic situation when Windows Update failed, and no so the restoration, which requires a refresh.  Now, I reinstalled VirtualBox and XP, but I can not connect because my activation key (exactly the one that previously worked) is no longer accepted.

  I'm running Windows 8.1 and also have a Windows 7 installation.  I need to identify the best way to get these files.  I prefer the VirtualBox solution, but will accept any other way course.

  Any suggestions gratefully received.

  If it (Lotus) installs on Windows XP & Windows 7 I see not why do not install on Windows 8, install it in compatibility mode.  To install in compatibility mode right click on the installer and select 'Properties' then click the 'Compatibility' tab and check "run this program in compatibility mode for:." in the drop-down list, select the version of Windows for your version of Lotus Smart Suite.   Once installed, you can also do the same to run the program in compatibility mode, or you can create a shortcut for the program and set the compatibility mode in the shortcut itself.

• How to install XP on an Acer laptop with Oracle VirtualBox

  I try to install XP Home edition on my Acer 2301 XC Travelmate via Oracle VirtualBox, as a virtual machine under Linux Mint 13. My goal is to install a few programs Windows XP on the Acer that not settle with 'Wine' of Linux emulator, for example Adobe Creative Suite 5.

  However, I think that the original XP came with the Acer discs are not really bootable - they are more recovery. There were two disks that came with the Acer (see photo). Is there a way to extract an ISO bootable disk #1 image? Or I have to download a file appropriate?

  With Recovery of Acer for XP disc 1 reinstall up to 80-90%; After that ends in Acer Disk 2, the resettlement.

  And I speak from experience. You do not own an Acer recovery disk Bootable Disk.
