• P2v Windows 2003 Server

  I have a Windows 2003 Server physical that we would like P2v, but drive C has only about 100 MB remaining.  Drive D has 25 GB.    My preference is to install Converster on this server and run locally, but as the C drive is low on space, it may be better to do it remotely.   However, I was wondering if there is a way to always run locally if I install the converter on the D drive.  Is this possible?

  With only 100 MB on the left, I highly recommend you free disk space before you do anything else to avoid problems (not only related to the converter). What I did in the past in such situations, is to configure the location of the page file to the server, which will release usually a few GB (depending on its current size).

  In any case, it is a known problem and also happens on XP and Vista. To fix this you need to use the laptop SATA driver or you change the SATA mode in the BIOS by AHCI compatible, then you don't need a driver.

  The technician is correct on the sata drivers are needed.

  The problem is that your laptop is an Intel 4th generation of processor and chipset of the 8 series.

  Intel develops not all drivers sata for this chipset, so windows XP and 2003 server will not install on the PC with this chipset.  Nor are there at - he graphics drivers for Windows 2003 server, and probably many other features would not have driver support for hardware that your PC has.

• Extremely slow CHKDSK on external Drobo B1200i connected to a Windows 2003 Server)

  (I have a Drobo B1200i related to an unresolved external server) windows 2003 Server), with 9 x 4, double redundancy to discs. The scoreboard shows that all drives are healthy. The player has 2 LUNs. One of the units is 16TO and used to store data, some are small files and some are large files. We found errors when you try to save this logical unit, which prompted running chkdsk. Run us CHKDSK G:/x/f/r it was launched on 22 may at 18:00. Currently, it reads "(14191283 of 20660608 processed files) all 60 percent" the number of processed files remains to be the same number of hours and moves upward then 5000 files and then a few hours left in the same issue for others... At this rate, it may take 3-4 months at the end!

  My questions are the following:

  1 - is it normal to take this amount of time with the large disk like mine (16 TB)?

  2. is there a risk of data loss if I stop it now?

  3. is there a chance that what has already been solved during the early stages is all that was needed, and that interrupts it the process now will be harmless?

  4. If I stop the process now and errors persist, and I decide to run CHKDSK again, it run faster for the early stages and get to the current point faster than the 6 days it has taken to get this far? or it will take another 6 days to join the current point?

• Windows server 2008 r2 domain controller deletes printers on windows 2003 Server

  We have recently installed two new Windows Server 2008 R2 servers in our field.  one of the new servers is the new domain controller (successor of Windows Server 2003 SBS, which has been decommissioned).  There are two other Windows 2003 servers in the domain.  When we turn off all servers for maintenance and then power them back on, the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler crashes; printers are deleted and the server does not allow you to add printers.  is this be caused by some settings in windows server 2008 r2?  This happened twice, and the solution is to rub the print on the windows 2003 Server spooler and reinstall the printers from scratch.
