VISA read very slow communication
Hello
IM using serial communications VISA in my project and I noticed that the reading block works very slowly.
I have the microcontroller that connected to my laptop through XBee modules.
Baud rate is 9600 due as a change factor in each component in the line won't make a difference at all.
Also, I checked that it work with terminal XCTU and its working fine (very fast). so his can not be something else except read VISA.

If you do not use a stop character, then the read VISA will sit and wait that 100 characters have been received by the COM port or the timeout elapsed (which is probably something like 5-10 seconds long). You can change the time-out period (using a property node) or reduce the number of characters you read each time that the loop runs.
Without a termination character, you will need to build your own string using a shift register buffer - whenever you make a VISA read, add it to the chain on the shift register and then do some analysis to take control of your microcontroller (e.g. alarm, coordinated) and remove all the foregoing orders of the string buffer (for example if you have started the VI in the middle of a command) ", then you don't want to throw these data).

I am quite new to Labview and Arduino, so I apologize if I use the incorrect terms. I'm having some trouble with the next project, I hope that you guys can give me some advice!
I have 16 sensors connected to the 16 analog pins on an Arduino mega Board. This Council has a shield mounted upon him, with a Xbee module wireless. I have another Xbee module that communicates with him and it is mounted on a USB dongle that plugs into a PC with Labview 2015.The A/D analog Arduino pin output is read and sent every 50ms to the Xbee module connected to the PC. So every 50ms (that is, a frequency of 20 Hz), a new line of analog readings by commas is sent, using AnalogRead and Serialprint in the Arduino. These data are fed to a Labview code with architecture of producer-consumer. Copy the following code configures a serial port of VISA, reads the data, it converts a voltage value and writes the data to a text file (see block_diagram.jpg).
The problem is that at a frequency of 20 Hz (with the configuration of the attached jpg) when you reach 400 treatment iterations the code slows down considerably and values are not parsed correctly. It behaves as if the queue is full (but the queue of elements indicators show 0) or memory or the buffers were full. It seems quite surprising to me given that the sampling rate is so slow. I tried a few configurations setting the buffer size, empty the buffer by using the queue time, but nothing seemed to work. Is it because the processor loop takes too much time to iterate? I tried to disable data analysis, conversion of voltage and the generation of text file, just keep reading and still have the same behavior.
This may be the cause? Suggestions to change the block diagram are welcome! Is there a better way to do this than with VISA or queues...?

You think along the good things. But the big problem I see here is that you have a table growing up to stop the program. You must move the file writing to be inside the loop of your consumption. This will eliminate the need to constantly develop your table in the shift register, with tons of memory and causing copies of memory (which is very expensive).
The other concern I have is the speed at which data is available. If you have a baud rate 9600, then in the 50ms debit you can pass 48 bytes. This leaves 3 bytes per sample, including the comma. If you have a debit 115 200 baud baudrate, it turns into 576 bytes, you can send the 50ms. So the lesson here is to make sure that you use a transmission speed which is fast enough to handle the data that you want to send.

very slow file read/copy of WinXP to Win7
I have two PCs, it is WInXP, one is Win7. On Win7, I produce read/copy of WinXP to Win7, it is very slow, about 10% of the 100 Mbps network (as indicated by the Task Manager and the status of file copy). However, if I do the copy of file for WinXP to Win7, it is very fast, about 90% of the 100 Mbps.
It is using windows file sharing.
Why is this?
Please note that all operations are done on the Win7 PC, I have not tried to do it on PC WinXP again. There are a few problems with Windows XP, access to the share on the Win7 PC (which can access any other PC Win7). But it is not so important.
I do regular files between WinXP PC at work, they are typically 50% of 100 Mbps.

I upgraded my Mac with an SSD, which works very well, with more RAM; However, recently, it has been very slow and train, and I don't know why. RAM is not being crazy, so it must be something else.
After reading the other posts, I'm thinking maybe I need a new battery? I mean I have 893 cycles ahah. Could someone help with this?

Try to start:

-Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the power button
-Just after you hear the startup tone, press in and hold the SHIFT key

If this does not help, follow the instructions below:
-Stop your Mac
-Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the power button

-Once you see office, start a scan Disk Utility to detect and repair file system errors (remember to choose your primary hard drive)

-Once the process is complete, stop your Mac and turn it on again after 30 seconds

TDMS read is slow on the cRIO9024
Hey
I am currently changing my old program to save data in the TDMS files instead of text files. The file size is much smaller and the write speed is reasonable. The problem is that when I read the PDM file, it seems very slow (11,293 seconds) and acquires the ability to almost full CPU (97%) for a few seconds, which will reduce the communication of the user interface. The file size is less than 9MB 37 columns with 30000 lines. I'm not sure it's normal or not, just to feel a little hard to believe. The same program works fine on my laptop (1,281 seconds), but of course it has a more powerful processor (dual 2.5 GHz instead of 800 MHz cRIO). In the meantime a bright idea, thank you.

Visa reading reads all bytes to the port
I have a camera that I communicate via the Serial Port. I have a standard communications protocol. For a particular command, I know that the exact number of bytes expected in return. I send my order. I see the correct number and exepcted to bytes in the port. I then read the number of bytes in the port. However, the VISA read returns only the first two bytes.
I contacted success with this camera and this Protocol for more than 130 commands unique and different. There are only about 6 orders in which the read visa does not read all the bytes in the port. Anyone know why that would happen? I expect to see 6 bytes. I see 6 bytes. I have visa read the command with 6 bytes. The visa read returns only the first 2 bytes. It's very very frustrating. I can do this exact process even with a different command. I expect 45 bytes of this command. I see 45 bytes with this command and I read 45 bytes with this command.
I don't think that it is device connected as I can converse with success with the same camera on the same computer with the same cable of connector using non-LabView. It seems to be a problem strictly related to labview and VISA read the order. If someone could help that would be greatly apprecicated.

What is the exact byte stream that await you in return with this command?
Instead of opening VISA, use the configuration Serial Port VI. In this way, you can override the default values. It looks that your instrument using all the defaults VISA of speed in baud rate, start and stop bits, etc. However, in the VISA software, there is a failure to use a termination character, and this character is 10 (0x0A). If you use the configure Serial Port, you can tell the pilot VISA do not use the stop character.

In Excel 2007, copy the conditional formatting cells is very slow
I've just upgraded to Excel 2007 (SP 2) since 2000 in the hope that it would be faster. I have a large spreadsheet consisting of a database of about 5000 lines and a number of leaves each grids showing cells of 7 x 7 with conditional formatting in each cell.
In 2000, I had to stop automatic recalculation. In 2007, the recalculation is much faster, but when I created a piece of copy and past cells 7 x 7 with their conditional formatting, it is very slow and eventually is short-term memory.
I am running XP service pack 3 on processor 1.6 ghz with 1.9 GB of ram.

On a Vista Home premium computer, one login has very slow keyboard response. It takes 3-4 seconds the button down to get an answer, or a keyboard repeat. Other connections work fine. The mouse works fine. The problem effects all, atfter loging in. You cannot open the startmenu, type a document, use a keyboard shortcut, adjust properties keybord, nothing.

My computer is running very slowly - i7 (quad) 266 Mhz and Geforce 9800 GTX graphics card. I had this computer for about a year. MacBook Pro mid-2012 very slow

My MacBook Pro is very slow (it has gotten worse recently). Applications to take ages to load, Firefox is hogging resources and very slow, get the focus of the mouse has a huge lag and I was spinning.

Hello
for three years, I never had any problem with my Mac. Now, all of a sudden, from one moment to the other, it runs very slowly. Also, I have to force every time you start the Mac with pressing the button for a few seconds. When closing the laptop and opening it, it locks again as well (only the screen black, start must be forced).
First thing I noticed was that kernel_task uses up to 400% of the RAM. I tried to find the problem myself, read about kernel_task, and did the following things (without success):
-Updated to the latest version of El Capitan
-Reset NVRAM and SMC
-hardware running apple diagnostics test (Code: ADP000 find anything)
-removal of protected system /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC _PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources to another folder, files and then reboot
-make an EtreCheck.
Can someone help me? Especially to interpret the diagnosis of EtreCheck?

All of a sudden, MacBookAir runs very very slow. Everything takes forever.
Duty to force each start by pressing the button for 7 seconds.
kernel_task use ±300% RAM all the time.
No fan noise, not a spillage. MacBookAir has warm as usual (not at all).
Reset NVRAM and SMC memory did not help.
Test hardware said no material error (Code: ADP000).
