Vista: access to the file of the owner refused while having all possible rights

Hello.

I have a weird with my Vista Ultimate problem when I try to read some files and folders on my NTFS partition: I have full access rights and I am an owner of these objects (controlled by the editor of access rights), but when I try to play the files in these folders (play videos, listen to music or simply copy these files)-windows get an 'access denied' error box. All the content of these files normally appear in the Solution Explorer and I even to able to delete and move these files - but this isn't for playback/copy. This problem even when I have logged in as the built-in "Administrator" account. I don't know why. I had even checked all this disc via 'chkdsk /f' (reboot) - no errors found and still no effect.

Please, help me - maybe u already had similar problem!

My Vista Ultimate is critical updates of the last MS Update center. I have Kaspersky Internet Security (antivirus/firewall) installed with all latest updates and no viruses not found on my PC.
The previous Windows on my computer was also Vista (but another edition) and I got no problem with these files at this time.

  • How to disable access to the cd player while windows is locked.

    Hello

Does anyone know it's possible to disable access to the cd/dvd drive while windows is locked?

That is, I would like to press Ctrl + alt + delete to lock my pc, then while I'm away, someone presses the eject button on my cd player and it will not eject.

I have looked in device, properties of D: drive management, security settings, etc., but have been unable to find such a control to this day.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    J

    Hi JC_226,

This isn't the Windows feature. Can not disable access to the cd player while windows is locked. However, there is an option to disable the CD/DVD device. To do this, you can follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click ok.
    b. in the list of objects, expand CD/DVD players.
    c. right-click on the sub element and click on disable.
    d. follow the instructions in the wizard to disable the device.

Important: If you disable a device that is required to start the system, such as your floppy drive or CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive, these devices will not work, and your system might not start.

    Hi tehshibz,

Please use the Microsoft Windows 7 forum.

Belongs to your computer from a domain?

This is by design and is a function of (UAC) user account control and the
ACL on the root of the drive. The ACL allows that the administrators and system
for writing files to the root of the drive. UAC means that even if you are a
Member of the group from the administrator, you are not running as an administrator, unless
    raise you.

If you really want, you can launch a process allows you to write the
files with as an administrator, then you can write. If you try to
Drag / move a file, you get a prompt for elevation. It is recommended that
solution is do not store data however.

If you really want to store files in the root of the d: and you do not want
raise every time, you can resolve the situation by adding an access control

list entered for your account to the root of the drive, as follows:

    1. click on the window button: all programs: Accessories
    2. right click on command prompt
    3. Select run as administrator and accept the prompt
    (4. run this command: icacls d:\/Grant fooSadOI) (CI) (M)

That grant foo user alter permissions on d:\. All objects (IO) and
containers (CI) will inherit these permissions. You replace foo
with the name of your user account.

Once do you any application you run as user foo will be able to store
data at the root of the C: drive. You will also have losened default
security settings, with all the caveats that implies.

Your user profile may be damaged and therefore you can remedy.

  • How can I allow one of my children to use local applications, while temporarily blocking his access to the Internet and while allowing children to continue to access the Internet?

I have three children who have separate user accounts on our two computers. Both computers running Windows 7 Home Premium edition. We use Windows Live Family Safety on each computer to our parental controls for defining when and what each child can access. We used the period of parental control feature to block every child signed to computers, except when we allow. (It would be nice if we could block a computer and allow them to use the other.)

However, I can't find a way to allow a child to not use the computer for local activities (for example, Microsoft Word), while blocking its access to the Internet. I also want to allow his brothers to continue to use the Internet during this time.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello

Windows parental control have no option to directly block access to the internet in a Windows user account, because the system needs to provide activity reports. To work around the problem, you can block all internet browsers available for this user account so that the child have no way to access the internet. Restriction of the app to access the control that installed programs on the computer children.  Here are the detailed steps to block some apps:

    1. on any computer, log on to the parent account for http://fss.live.com

    2. click Edit settings under the name of the child you want to change the settings and then click the App restrictions.

    3. check the circle next to turn on the restrictions of the app.

    4. check all programs related to access to the internet or type the application in the area of Search apps .

    5. check the box next to the application or the program once it appears in the list.

    6. click on Save.

This settings apply only to that specific user account. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Can you please elaborate more and explain this code? I mean that I do not understand how this sql. You can exaplain in detail how it works?

    Thanks again!

    OrauserN

What, precisely, do you understand?  I guess it's CONNECT BY, I used twice.

CONNECT is a feature that allows for recursion in SQL.  It includes an optional to BEGIN WITH and a clause CONNECT BY, which are both similar in a WHERE or HAVING clause conditions.  Which respect the terms of the START WITH clause are supposed to be at the level of the line = 1.  When it does not START WITH paragraph, all lines are LEVEL = 1.  (This is the case in two of my CONNECT garages).  A line is on LEVEL = N (N.1) if he meets the conditions CONNECT BY, when you look at some PREVIOUSLY already selected line in this query at level N-1 =.  It is often useful to consider the lines forming a graph oriented; the SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH function returns a string that represents how we traveled through this graph to get each line of output.

As used in the subquery called universe, START WITH is particularly difficult to understand.  For now, do not try to understand; just accept that it is a quick and convenient to generate a set of results with 5 rows, numbered from 1 to 5.  Let us look at the CONNECT BY the main query instead.  This query is very similar to this one, using the scott.dept table:

    SELECT path SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (deptno, ',')

    deptno

    LEVEL

    OF scott.dept

DeptNo CONNECT BY NOCYCLE <> deptno PRIOR

    ;

    Output:

    DEPTNO LEVEL PATH
    -------------------- ---------- ----------
    , 10                         10          1
    , 10, 20                     20          2
    10, 20, 30 30 3
    10, 20, 30, 40 40 4
    10, 20, 40 40 3
    10, 20, 40, 30 30 4
    , 10, 30                     30          2
    10, 30, 20 20 3
    10, 20, 30, 40 40 4
    10, 30, 40 40 3
    10, 30, 40, 20 20 4
    , 10, 40                     40          2
    10, 40, 20 20 3
    10, 40, 20, 30 30 4
    10, 40, 30 30 3
    10, 30, 40 and 20-20-4
    , 20                         20          1
    , 20, 10                     10          2
    20, 10, 30 30 3
    ...

    40, 30, 20 20 3
    4 10 10, 20, 30, 40

    64 selected lines.

As you can see, the above query shows all possible combinations of the 4 values distinct deptno.  The query starts by taking a line (in this case, the line with deptno = 10, I'll just say 10 in the future) and the place level = 1.  Then he sees what lines are connected to 10 (as defined by the CONNECT BY clause) and places them on LEVEL = 2.  All lines except 10 itself are connected to 10 of this affection.  Such a line is 20.  The lines are connected to 20?  Again, all the lines except 20 himself. (10 <> 20, so if you think 10 would seem still level = 3, but it is not.)  By default, CONNECT BY will raise an error if a line is connected to itself, directly or indirectly, as in the path ", 10, 20, 10'.»  The NOCYCLE keyword tells Oracle to ignore these connections rather than trigger an error).

If there is a WHERE clause, it is applied after the CONNECT BY is completed.  In your problem, we did not all combinations, we wanted only the combinations that included all 5 lines, so I used a WHERE clause to display only lines that went up to the LEVEL of output = 5.

I just sync had a catalog between two clouds, using the connector of vCloud and now a query returns zero records.  One thing I noticed, is that the catalog items has been created with a user as the owner account, while it seems that all my other pre existing catalog items have the owner of the system. The vcd plugin is configured with an account with administrator rights.  My queries fail and I have not yet tried to configure the plugin with the account which is now owner, but it seems that it should be able to find these elements in a query.  Also has anyone seen this behavior?  It is somehow by design?

I am the owner of everything on my pc I don't have special permissions for some individual files that I find quite strange. It also means that I can't delete some files. I tried to access the files when I started from a different hard drive, but still can not remove. While I followed all procedures to address this issue, I still do not end with special permissions. Is it possible to modify or delete the files from the MS DOS window or is there something that I am missing. I also found it seems to be an 'unknown user' in the permissions area, and when I try to delete or change this 'unknown user' and a second show. 1 then said who is denied access, but the other has access. No matter what I have I can not get rid of it! And file sharing is disabled disabled! Help, please

In Vista, many files can not even to administrators. Some are to protect the user from making mistakes (like many in the Windows directory and in your personal profile).  Some are points of junctionhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb968829 (VS.85) .aspx which are there for backwards compatibility and should not be modified in any way (and certainly not deleted) or you may not be able to use your programs or may even damage the system to the point where it will need to be reinstalled).  You shouldn't need special permits to delete a file if you have all the rights, but special permissions can block access and that's sometimes how it blocks even administrators.  Keep in mind that XP administrators had access more than them in Vista - blocked is not necessarily a problem, but intentionally by developers of Vista.

However, if you're talking about files that you devriez have permission, then the following information about the ownership and permissions can help you.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we'll get the exact path of these files to make sure that you really can visit his profile and try adding special permissions.  I suspect that the problem is that everyone is denied access and blocking everyone - but we'll check (if necessary).

    Good luck!

I'm on Windows XP Home edition 2002, Version 5.1, 32-bit (Service Pack 3)

I can't access my account "Owner" no matter how I approach him--even from the command prompt.  I keep getting messages like "the owner is not Accessible.  "Access denied", I lost it and thousands of irreplaceable files after screwing up an attempt to "system restore."  (I have not now viable 'system restore' point.)  What I have is a second file "Owner", namely: "Owner.YOUR - W92P4BHLZG".  Apparently there are still files residing on the 'Owner' orginal account, but I can't.

Here's the kicker: I found the instructions on how to get access to the files ' owner', but I must have a Windows odball version because there is no "Use Simple File Sharing" option in my options 'Advanced Settings' under "Folder Options."  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Kilpeder,

Since you have Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode and try to take ownership of the file in safe mode. The option disable file sharing Simple is available in Windows XP Professional. To start the computer in safe mode, restart both computers and keep tapping the F8 key. Once you see the option to select Safe mode, select it and press ENTER.

You can access the link below and follow the steps in the article to take possession of the file or the folder on the computer.

Click on the folder and change your permissions for it and all subfolders and files all rights and if necessary take hand the case (and maybe the parent folder or even its parent - and all of the subfolders and files) until you have the permission you need.  Here are the general procedures to help you:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights. Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
