Vista boot, apparently due to the update

Hello

My laptop was working fine last night, but as I have turned on this morning, I am unable to boot. Windows will remain at a black screen and then give me the boot option repair or start normally. Startup Repair found a problem, that it cannot correct automatically.

I had problems with Windows Installer and I noticed before I turn it off only an update of Windows should arise, then I guess that's the culprit. If anyone could offer advice about a solution, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am running Vista. Not sure if it's SP1 or 2. Apology.

Here is the log of problem:

If the issue is not material. I would like to re - install Vista to make sure that it was not
hardware and then upgrading to Windows 7, do a clean install the update.

Don't forget to check with the manufacturer of system as most have help on upgrading to Windows 7
BIOS updates and drivers from the chipset level low and other main device drivers.

Run the Upgrade Advisor, and check with the center of compatibility for your key features.
Some system manufacturers also have an online help and information for the upgrade to Windows 7.

  • 64-bit Windows vista hangs after you run the update

    Hello

Last night I ran the update of windows on my 64 bit vista laptop, he said there are 2 updates important (I don't remember what they were) and 1 optional (for security essentials).  I chose to install them all, let run updates, restarted the computer when he was asked and then pinned the problem.  Windows starts up nicely, all my startup apps pop up like normal (things like security basics, steam, etc.) and, if I don't touch it, it looks fine.  Sometimes I can get as opening firefox, sometimes just moving my mouse t - it, but the computer just hangs.  I can still move my mouse (sometimes it turns in a circle, as the computer working on something) but I can't click on anything whatsoever, cannot Ctrl + alt + delete... my only way of l ' down made a difficult start.

I tried to use the tool of the previous version to roll back to before the update, the Wizard works well and said completing, but I still have the same question.  If I'm in safe mode or safe mode with networking, it works fine. I even tried to delete pending.xml to see if it was an update stuck but who did not (cmd said that there was no pending.xml found to remove)

Anyone know what this might be or how to fix it?  I'm fresh out of ideas

    Hello

Given that everything works well in safe mode which makes them a third-party application causes the computer to freeze.
You need to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing and then disable or remove.
Here are the steps to do:
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    The user account control permission.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type
    password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    8. in addition, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the software problem on your computer.
Reset the computer to start as usual
    9. When you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
    10. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
    11. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • My Lotus iNotes will no longer send emails due to the update of windows

My Lotus iNotes is no longer send emails, however still receives. I keep getting error messages. It's already happened and my work, IT supports the Office told me that it was due to a Windows security update, but my computer has recently updated its self, does anyone know what update would it?

    Hello

    1. What is the full/exact error message?

2 were there any hardware or software changes made on the computer before this problem?

3 is specific to the program the issue?

Initially check updates have recently been installed on the computer.

See the Windows updates are installed

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/see-which-Windows-updates-are-installed

Follow the steps and check if that helps.

Method 1: To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

Method 2: The problem can also be caused by your security such as anti-virus program that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable the anti-virus and check the result again. You must activate new security that you was disabled programs.
    Disable the antivirus software:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: System Restore -it takes the computer to the point when the problem did not exist. See if you can find a restore point right where the problem had not demonstrated upward.
    Reference http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

    What is system restore?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-system-restore

After restoring the computer to a previous point, you need to install the update, one at a time to verify the update is the cause of the problem.

I had a similar problem. The update worked for me was KB2360131, I had to hide and the rest updates went well. This is what I did:

    (1) turn off the automatic updates

    (3) restart

  • I have vista os, when you perform the update of windows, it will fail to load 4 updates and get code error 646. How to solve?

error 646 when windows update, fails to 4 updates. Using vista OS. Help

    Hi cjvtex,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

This problem occurs when the Windows Update Wups2.dll agent file is incorrectly registered in the register. Because registry files that match
to the Wups2.dll file are missing, update facilities are unsuccessful. Follow the steps mentioned below to resolve this issue.

    Save the Windows Update files

    1. Click Start and type notepad in the box start the search.

    2. click on Notepad in the list programs.

    3. copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened Notepad window:

    REGSVR32 WUPS2. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 STINKS. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 WUAUENG. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 WUAPI. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 WUCLTUX. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 WUWEBV. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 JSCRIPT. DLL/S

    REGSVR32 MSXML3. DLL/S

    1. in Notepad, on the file menu, click Save as.

    2. in the file type list, click all files.

    3. in the file name box, type register.bat.

    4. save the Register.bat file to your desktop.

5 right-click the Register.bat file, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type
the password or click on continue.

    6. try to install the updates again.

  • No noise in web browsers, probably due to the update of windows

    Background-

A week ago, my browser (firefox) has stopped playing all sounds. Spotify, Winamp, etc. were all still works fine, so I assume that it was not pregnant-related, but rather something to do with the browser. I checked the updates of the plugin, flash etc, everything was up to date. I tried another web browser (Google Chrome), same problem. I then tried the things usually offered on the internet such as checking msacm32.drv is present, check that nothing is cut in the mixer volume, also attempted to execute a file that fixed my registry, but I received an error. I also ran a codec tweak tool & who said everything was fine.

I ran out of ideas so don't have a restored system about a week ago (about when I thought that the problem started), and voila, my sound was back.

However, windows this morning updated itself (I'm on windows vista), and now my sound disappeared again. As I am quite computer illiterate, I am struggling to understand what is causing the problem.

    The installed updates today were:

    Re-install osx - Fail

Re-install time machine backup - fail.

HD can fail at any time, your decided to fail while you were doing an update. Nothing but bad luck. Remember to replace the HD with an SSD.

  • No sound due to the update of the Bios

After the recent update Bios my computer's speakers is no longer working. I was able to reset the speakers and have since been able to watch videos youtube with the sound but WMP or Quicktime no longer work and I get an error message whenever I try to view a vid. I saw that it is supposed to be a solution for installing an older bios, but it asks you you must have an ID, etc.. In addition, since the update my computers performance has been lackluster to say the least. Any help would be greatly appreciated. HP needs to fix to fix this fast, I made videos & ads for my employer, and it is a huge inconvience!

I was able to find a solution... If you go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodTopCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=18703&dest_page=product

Choose your exact system (you can also access this your support assistant go find help and choosing access resources online for your PC) - then choose software downloads and the driver - choose your operating system - select driver / audio and choose a. I chose the one from 2012-8-13. Save the download to your desktop and run it.

WMP, quicktime, itunes & all work again. Performance issues also declined. Good luck and best regards!
