Vista Business on Tecra A8

Hello everyone out there!

I have a problem and a question... Please help...

I bought a new Tecra A8 two weeks ago and it works with Vista Business.
It was running OK for the past two weeks, but this weekend, I picked up a virus and had to clean. everything seemed fine and I was under the impression that he was abducted but do not know more.

last night, Vista downloaded the latest updates of windows, while I was online and then invited to install it, which I accepted. There are 4 items to update and it took a lot of time to do. After the update, it asked to reboot, and now I'm sitting looking at a blue screen that says "please wait" and its's not going past! I let go an hour or so and then restarted, let him go again and its been almost two hours now, does nothing.

What should I do?
also, my question... I don't have the Vista installation disc or anything with the laptop? I've only had one disc, and it's the recovery disc. Now, the tech told me that I wouldn't need to do backups on the software as it was there and I just need to throw the disc? Vista is there? the record shows that if I run it, it will delete everything on the laptop and other devices connected to it?

can I run the disc and it will put Vista on?

Thank you
C

Hi Clarence

Please believe me. It's really not easy to say which had installed Vista and why it goes no further.

Regarding you question of recovery CD; Well, this CD contains everything you need. The OS (Vista), the drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities are packaged in the image file.
If you get the laptop using this CD you will set the laptop to factory settings.
But note; the recovery CD installation formats the entire HARD disk.
You will lose all data and files from the HARD drive without any backups.
So be careful ;)

Greetings

    Dear Forum

I'm curious, if you please, on a Tecra A10, which, at the time of purchase, had installed Windows Vista business.
At the latest date the owner upgraded to Windows 7 (for free I think but I'm not sure).

Windows 7 installation has become corrupted and need a new facility, but a backup has not been made.

Please someone knows if the owner has a way of re - download Windows 7 free of charge, taking into account the existing Windows 7 installation is legal.

    Yours with thanks in advance

I put t know what previous owner did somehow but if possible install clean version of Win7 and not Vista Win7 upgrade. I did it on several machines Vista and now all the machines work perfectly with the clean version of Win7 32 bit.

I think that the idea of Tempro is just great. This allows me to keep all the drivers updated. Unfortunately, it didn't work for a few days and never again. Now, I received a notification of update that Tempro 1.2 is out.

Is there someone who can help get this application to run?

    Thanks for your help.

    AndyB

PS: in case it helps: Tecra S5, ZoneAlarm, SuperAntiSpy, Webroot AV and Vista Business SP1

I see that you have installed a lot of 3rd party software.
Hey Buddy, I got the Zonealarm too and I wasn't satisfied. This tool always requires approvals and other applications didn't work properly.

I m wondering if the Tempro crashed after installing a new OS from Toshiba. I mean you could test to see if a 3rd party tool affect this software.

I would recommend taking the recovery disk and reinstall the operating system. Updated the Tempro, then check if the problem still persists.

Sorry, but buddy is a way to discover what causes this problem.

    Hello

I don't know what you mean in crashes, but I know that this can happen after the standby/hibernation mode, that this sound card is not recognized correctly. To resolve this problem, you must install the hotfix for Microsoft Vista (937077 KB) on the Microsoft network site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937077

Just a question: have you noticed this problem since the first day or after a few days of use?

  • Upgrade to Vista Business downgraded to XP 7

I recently bought a laptop HP Compaq 8710w comes with Vista Business downgraded to XP Professional. I ordered my upgrade kit, as I understand it will take to do me a clean install. My question is, I will receive a copy at retail of Windows 7, which also includes good 32-bit and 64-bit, or will I receive only the 32-bit version? If I get only the 32-bit version, it will be specific to my serial number or I'll be able to get on ebay and trade it for a 64-bit version?

It seems almost right that I have to do a clean install anything, I should be locked in the 32-bit version. As long as I do a clean install, it seems that I should be able to upgrade to 64-bit.

    Thank you

    Tyler

I think that you will have 32 bits by default, you can usually contact Microsoft directly and they will send 64-bit as long as you have a valid product key.

  • Product key not valid on Vista Business

I purchased 2 Toshiba Satellite about 2 years ago. They have every two Windows Vista Business preloaded and none of them has been altered in any way. They have both worked perfectly for about a year and it still works perfectly now.
But the other suddenly decided that the Windows product key is not valid and I can't get Windows running except in reduced functionality mode.

Could you please explain how this happens suddenly someone and what can be done to reverse the trend.

    Hello

It's not explainable to me the Toshiba and OS recovery in this disc disc is already activated and does not need to be reactivated.

I think that some damaged registry or affected Microsoft OS in a strange way updates

I think that you could solve this recovery of the laptop using the Toshiba disc.
Sorry mate, but that's all I can suggest

  • Cannot install Vista Business on Portege M400 - IDE issues

Hi guys... I am looking for your help.

I downloaded all the new Vista drivers avaiable from Toshiba in support of the new installation of Vista business on my old Portege M400, that came preloaded with a version of XP Tablet and kept their loan on a CD.

I also upgraded the version of the ACPI BIOS to the latest available 3.80.

I insert the first CD of Vista professional and do a boot. (I also have a n upgrade Vista Business CD but I want to do a clean install).
I go past the first steps and choose Install.
I am faced with an error message "no disk has been found. "Click on load a driver to provide a device for installing mass storage.

Looks like Vista is not able to see the IDE drive to the edge and it's a driver problem.

I touched the "Rescan" button available on the windows installation and another message appears: "no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct driver, and then click OK. »

Currently loaded on the XP: currently loaded poster IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers like Device Manager: "Intel (R) 82801 G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers and primary IDE channel."

Hard drives shown are: Toshiba RAID SCSI Disk Device LD0

Pls tell, what new drivers since available downloads of drivers Vista for my model 400 ML PPM40E, should I choose here for my Vista installation recognizes the disk available?

    Hello

It is very easy to solve this problem.
If you would look on the page of the European driver Toshiba (Portege M400 section), then you will notice that a RAID driver is available for this model of laptop.

Impossible to install Vista because it cannot find the HARD drive due to lack of RAID driver!

You must install the RAID driver first and then you can proceed with the installation of Vista.
As far as I know the Vista installation accepting the USB flash key you can use this key to include the RAID driver.

Hope I could give some useful advice.

    Cheers mate

  • The license sticker is for Vista Business and Vista Basic is preinstalled

I just bought a Satellite Pro L300, which was supposed to have Vista Business installed.

When I turned on the laptop and went through the initial installation of the operating system and configuration, Vista Basic installed, without ever asking me a license key.

The Home license sticker at the bottom of my laptop shows "Windows Vista Business OEMAct".

How to install Vista Business? There is no CD/DVD in the sealed box that the laptop came in so I have no extra programs to install.

I bought this model because supposedly I could downgrade from Vista Business to XP.

    Thank you!

It's really a case of contact Toshiba by phone or email, form (support/Contacts page).

  • Error Vista crcdisk.sys Tecra A4 - solution

    Hello world!

I have create this post to share my experience of installing vista on a Tecra A4 (tecra a4 257 to be precise)

to be brief, the first time that the installation of vista freeze, it is on the famous "crcdisk.sys" in safe mode
---> solution: reboot on the installation DVD and go to "repair my computer" then the command prompt to delete/rename \windows\system32\drivers\pcmcia.sys and \windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\pcmci ablablabla

But even after that, I'm not able to complete the installation because I uncounter the famous 'black screen of death' (more precise, after the first restart, Setup will "finish installation" and after a while, the screen goes white and my laptop freeze without HDD activity more)
---> solution: after remove/rename pcmcia.sys e.a., delete/rename all the files on your Texas instruments PCIxx21 because it is this f * ing material that make vista freezing!

so I renamed all the files in the windows\system32\drivers folder named * 1394 * (for firewire controller that belongs to a TI PCIxx21) as well as in the \windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\ and \windows\inf\ folder
I have renamed in the same files all files named sd * (for the reader of card memory, another part of TI PCIxx21)

After that installation is finished and I was able to see vista and aero for the first time (sniff...)

I hope that someone help :-)

    Sly

    Nice tips.
I think all information on Vista are very useful to us because it s a new OS and there are always a lot of questions.
    Thank you very much.

  • OS - Vista Business downgrade down to XP

    Hello

I just took delivery of a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9 - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4"TFT".» Great laptop, but the operating system is very slow... transfer files, access to the internet.

I understand that the license allows me to downgrade to XP. The question is how can I do this, because this operating system is not ready for the technology on my laptop.

1 Toshiba provide me with a XP OS disk?
2 Toshiba provide me with new XP drivers for my laptop?
    3. I have trouble with XP recognizing my hard drive due to the SATA drives.
    4. Why is it only a "Vista drivers download' on the toshiba support site - y at - it not a similar"Download XP drivers?

Vista is useless because it does so not. Even Microsoft are allowing users to downgrade - please see below.

Here are a few notes I found on the web

Can I downgrade my OEM of Windows version

Vista business to Windows XP Professional? Yes. Right of demotion OEM desktop operating systems PC apply to Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Edition full, as stated in the terms of the license. Please note, downgrade versions OEM Windows Vista business and Windows Vista Ultimate are limited to Windows XP Professional (including Windows XP Edition Tablet PC and Windows XP x 64 edition). End users can use the following media for their downgrade: Volume Licensing media (provided that the end-user has a Volume License Agreement), trade retail (FPP) or System Builder hologram CD (provided that the software is acquired in accordance with the Microsoft OEM System Builder License). Use of degraded operating system is governed by the Windows Vista Business license terms, and the end user cannot use the downgrade and professional Windows Vista operating system. There is no right of demotion for Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Edition Home Premium.

    ***********************

If you want Windows XP Pro on a new machine, Windows Vista (Business or Ultimate), and then downgrade
I don't know how many people is aware of this, but if you buy a Windows Vista Business or Ultimate then you can use a Windows XP CD (that you have legal access to) to load Windows XP on this machine.

When you need the product key / or need to activate, it will potentially fail, but a simple call to with your Vista product key activation center should give you all the details you need. Then, when you're ready to put Vista on this machine, you can do without the purchase of this new cost. Alternatively, you can buy Windows XP today and if you want to load Vista, you can give more money to a store for a copy again.

  • HBasic upgrade Vista business on Satellite A200

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I have the problem and I need your advice please. I am the owner of a portable Satellite A200-1CR that accompanies this with Vista Home Basic recovery disk. Thanks to the MSDNAA, I acquired a DVD with Windows Vista business, but the upgrade option does not work! After I had lunch the autostart DVD and after entering the CD - key, I get a screen with two options: install or upgrade to Vista Business, but the update option is grey and inactive.

I upgraded a Windows family Basic Business Edition once on a laptop (Fuijtsu Simens) different. WHY I CAN'T DO NOW, ON THIS THOSIBA SATELLITE?

    Help, please.

To be honest, these updates is unknown to me but maybe you have to install a clean version of Vista professional. Not only an update.
You have the option to do so? Toshiba offers all the tools of drivers and utilities for Vista.

Sorry, but I don't think someone can help you. If you need assistance directly contact those responsible for the MSDN Academic Alliance.

  • Volume button doesn't work is not with Vista Business

Everyone knows what software Toshiba should I install in order to use the volume button in Vista Business? I have a Qosmio G20-102. Thank you.

    Hello

Are you could not change the level of sound volume under Vista?

The problem is that only some unique Vista drivers have been released for Qosmio G20 and not all functions can be used.
But don t give up Andrej! There is a hope! Thanks to all the forum users who post proposed solutions!

I found this very long, but interesting and useful article about the installation of Vista on Qosmio G20.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20494

The user FranciscoJr is a guru of the G20 Vista + Qosnio ;)

A hint; some of the objects of Toshiba value added package for the G30 can be installed on the G20.
Install only the selected items. Otherwise, you will have conflicts with the windows Mobility Center.

    Good luck

  • HP XW6400 problem loading Vista Business

    Hey all,.

I just took a XW6400 on Ebay and the auction has just declared that he only started the bios configuration screen.  I literally have no idea of the State of functioning of the parts below.  Here are the following specifications:

4 GB RAM (has not considered whether it is ecc or not)

    Single XEON 5130 (2.0 ghz)

    ATI x 1300 video card

    40 GB SATA hard drive

    SATA 200 GB HDD

    DVD Rom

    DVD Writer/Rom

Latest version of the BIOS: 2.38 (with the default values loaded)

    Part number: RB318UT #ABA

    Serial number: xxxxxxxxxx

I use the computer for mainly surfing the net, playing some older games, but absolutely nothing of what the computer was destined (all resources, graphics intensive applications, etc.).  It's going to be my computer shop for internet research on how to fix pinball machines.  I am using computers for 30 years, so aware of all material am but not at a technical level of COMPUTING.  I can take pictures, or perform diagnostics that help solve this problem and post it here if necessary.

I'm having a lot of trouble with a very slow loading Vista Business x 64 (ISO DVD created vistax64.com image).  It literally took about 8 hours now, from one day to the next, and I'm finally in the "Complete the Installation" installation (the progress bar green to low is about 75%) and he's been there 45 minutes now, but it could be longer, just noticed this after waking up and controlled again.  I would appreciate help with the following questions:

#1: loading XP pro, the system stops just to the material 'verification' screen and locks upward.  Could be a problem with the Vista question above?

#2: is it possible to load Windows 7 Home Premium on the machine, as well as the edition of Vista Business no?  The installation will simply not work on the machine if you use the standard version of Vista?

#3: when you use the NON ecc memory, the computer performs strangely like that?  It is absolutely a requirement of memory ECC FB when not to use applications requiring?

#4: if it finally load on the system and the system seems to work ok, is this slow loading problem a precursor to everything that you guys can imagine of?  Or I was just in the hospital?

#5: when you add another processor, read the code of the same batch of CPU guarantees compatibility for a two-way configuration?  Or can I just get any other Xeon 5130?

#6: I don't have a floppy drive on the system, but you guys can recommend a good hardware bootable USB or CD/DVD test software, which is a freeware if all goes well?

#7: I lent my copy of Vista professional before, so I guess it's possible (but unlikely) someone could use the certificate of authenticity.  The installation say he is recorded online for you.  Is it possible that the copy has been used and is already registered to someone else?  Which would explain this problem?

#8: is it possible to get a CD of HP restore again?

I did the memory test on the Vista installation CD, and it passes.  I also shared my GForce 9800 GTX video card and am having the same problem.  Also, any general troubleshooting other thoughts would be appreciated.

    -Pat

Edit: I went to the appointment of a DR and the come back about an hour and a half later, since this original post.  Now, during the installation screen complete, the progress bar has moved maybe another 10% is now about 85%.  It seems to load, but why so ssllooww?

P.S. We have removed a number of your post for your secutiry. That is the information you probably don't want available to the public. -HP moderator of the Forum

I got it to work.  Unfortunately, it is not useful for searching the Internet.  But i:

    Reduced system memory 2 gig.

Renewed, cleaned and reinstall thermal paste for the cpu and the heatsink.

removed the hard drive the system came with and just used well-known 200gig hard drive.

Left the hard drive and cdrom SATA0 and SATA1, SATA2, and SATA3.

And the big one, I loaded Win7 x 64 home premium.

I'm typing on it now and updated as we speak.  However, I am always interested some of the answers to the questions.

#1: what will happen if I used of non - ecc memory?  The system works not at all, or be slow?

#2: and it is always possible to obtain HP restore disks?  (Edit 12/14)  I was not able to find a way to get drives install in addition to bring 2nd hand (ebay), but most of the original software is located on the support xw6600 site.

I ordered 2 XEON Processors off ebay, another 8 GB of ram and the hp cpu heatsink and fan.  Time for fun!
