Vista detects wrong monitor

I have an Acer X193W lcd monitor, but Vista detects it as E151H.
I tried to install correct driver but visits won't tell me that the best driver is already installed.
Tried to remove the driver and restart, but Vista still detects incorrect monitor.

Hello SteveW57, welcome.

Out of curiosity, having the incorrect driver of display problems?
You can try this to force a different driver:

1. click on START
2. right click "Computer" and select "Properties".
"3 click on Device Manager", top left
4 expand the category of "monitors".
5 right-click the monitor shown and select "Update Driver"... »
6. choose "Browse my computer...". »
7 choose "Let Me pick from a list...". »
8. click on 'Next' and then 'Have Disk... '. »
9. click 'Browse' and navigate to the location of the driver. If the pilot is only an installer .exe or .msi file let me know.

Confirm all the prompts that come up. Restart the computer after you install it and see if it works.

  • My Aspire V7 582PG cannot detect external monitors

I recently bought an Aspire V7 582PG, put in a new SSD and then installed Windows 8. The laptop works well, except that it cannot detect external monitors (in Control Panel, I get "Has not detected a different view".) I tried with 2 monitors (different models) that are known to work, via HDMI and VGA.

I thought it might be a driver problem. Device Manager > 'Graphics cards' show 'Display card base Microsoft' and 'NVidia GEForce GT 750 M. The two drivers are up-to-date. 'Monitors' shows 'generic PnP monitor", which is also updated.

Then I went to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers to download the driver for my model. The only one who had the relevant air was:

    MonitorELANTECHThe HID monitor drivers1.1.5

    Installer here: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Monitor/Monitor_ELANTECH_1.1.5_W8x64_A.zip?acerid=635...

But when I unzip and run the Setup window closes a few seconds; I think it hangs, rather than installing correctly.

    Any suggestions?

My Acer tabs they need additional drivers to recognize the HDMI port.

I think having unzipped in a directory and open a DOS window with admin rights and run the application inside that. At least if an error occurs, you should be able to see. Sometimes just doubleclicking opens and closes a window so fast that you do not see the error.

Also in looking at support for a 'ultra' V7, I see several drivers for the chipset VGA and monitor. All may be required for the video display to work.

    Hello!

I joined just a touchscreen multi-touch Dell ST2220T the VGA on a Toshiba laptop. The multiscreen correctly display features, however touch events on the new monitor are sent to the screen of the laptop. There doesn't seem to be a way to make the new monitor the primary monitor, as in something similar here. In addition, if the option to solve this problem in a similar way to this solution exists in Windows Vista, it is certainly well hidden. I've sifted through all the options in Vista and came away empty-handed.
No one knows how to fix this problem on WIndows Vista with a built-in screen that can not be changed by default?

Is the touch screen as the default monitor?

Set up your touchmonitor active by default. To do this follow the steps mentioned in the link below

  • Windows 7 does not detect external monitor!

Hi I have a huge dilemma!

My laptop does not recognize the external monitor. Earlier in the day, he detected the external monitor and perfectly well worked through to extend, in doubles, you name it. However, after restarting my computer, I was unable to get the external display to be recognized...

I use a laptop Lenovo y470 and nvidia gt 550 m 64-bit. I've updated the grahpics card but in vain...

The way I have it plugged into the external monitor is using a hdmi cable to connect the laptop to a monitor for a DVI-HDMI adapter. Basically, the dvi port became a port hdmi with this adapter.  its dvi - d.

I think that restarting the computer developed a few updates and the graphics card only connects via VGA or HDMI and DVI not? I'm not sure... I'd love any idea of a solution.

    Hello

If you do not see an option named multiple displays in your display settings, then Windows isn't detecting a second monitor plugged into your desktop computer. Or else, it does not detect an external monitor plugged into your laptop. When Windows detects this monitor, it will appear in the drop-down list next to the screen. If you do not see that what listed there, try click on Detect.

Make sure that the monitor you want to extend your desktop is turned on and plugged the correct video port on your computer. You may also need to select the correct source labeled on the controls of your monitor to ensure that the monitor is using the correct video port. For more information, consult the manual of your monitor or go to the manufacturer's Web site.

OK, figured it out, it works now. I needed to set the full screen display, use all the screen, and then start the machine virtual everything in full-screen, then Windows (guest operating system) are able to detect all monitors.

  • How can I prevent windows 7 from auto-detect my monitors?

I have a multi-screen with two computers and two monitors Setup. My main screen is shared between 2 computers on a KVM switch and my secondary display is connected directly to my win7 box. When I switch the KVM away from the area of win7, windows detects that there is more connected to my main screen and flies all my windows open to the secondary display, hide the Windows I wanted to see. How to disable this behavior?

I've seen messages on the deactivation of TMM in vista, but TMM does not appear in the Task Scheduler in windows 7.

What makes this even worse, is that when I flip the switch KVM back (so my first is now connected to win7 box once again), about 10% of the time windows does not automatically detect the screen and I have to open the screen resolution settings and click on the button find.

  • Z50 does not detect second monitor HDMI

I recently purchased the Lenovo Z50 - 70 with 16 GB of ram and nvidia 840 m video card.

Today I tried to connect the laptop to my LG 47LA6208-ZA, but the laptop does not recognize a second monitor. When I try to detect that another monitor nothing find it.

I don't know there is no problem with the tv or hdmi cable, cause another pc with a cable hdmi even on the same port hdmi works perfectly.

Any ideas what could be the problem here? I have already updated all the drivers.

However, I do not know on what card video the hdmi port is on, the nvidia or intel on board.

    Any help would be appreciated!

It turns out that the hdmi cable is the problem after all! Which is really strange, cause there is no problem with the other pc. However, I am very happy that this is resolved! Thanks for the support!

  • The installer for Windows Vista is wrong...

I was recently given an old "Lenovo Thinkpad SL500' with a failing HARD drive.  On the Palm of the laptop is Windows label that reads "Windows Vista Basic". I put in a disc of Windows Vista (x 86 version) and windows load, and to enter the serial number, it starts to install "Windows Vista Business" (perhaps the original owner updated the version of windows). At the end of installation, I go to activate and I like that it's the wrong version of windows for the serial number, hmmm... !  Think it should have been the version 64-bit (x 64), I perform the re - install, once again tell them he set up "Windows Vista Business" (64-bit version). Still, I get the same error message when you try to activate.

Time to cheat, I re - install again, but don't get me the serial number, which then gives the option to select the version of vista to install, this time I select Vista Basic (32-bit and 64-bit later). Windows installed twice and both times it fails to activate, this time with the error "Enter a different product for activation key", and Yes, I type in the serial number from the label (which windows it is was brought off the coast of the COA), still with no success.

Is it possible to say that Windows belongs to my serial number, or is it possible that the previous owner upgraded to a version of Windows 7 and changed the COA. ??

  • Vista and multiple monitors

I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 bit system. When I created multiple monitors on my laptop my screen saver does not work.  I put it in the slideshow personalized with photos of my images. When the time for the screen saver activate the screen turns black with a procession of white dashes strung on black screen and has a long delay in retune to active screen when embarrassing. I've been to monitor manufacturing webite and I have the latest drivers. They say MS problem with Vista which they have many complaints on this subject.

Try using a simple screensaver as the starfield and see if it works better - maybe it has problems with the customized version.

I hope this helps.  If so or if not post back and we'll see if we can find another solution.

    Good luck!

  • T400 and Advanced Mini Dock - does not detect DVI monitor

I have a T400 with integrated graphics and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and I recently bought an Advanced Mini Dock for it.  I have a Dell 1800FP monitor connected to the dock via the DVI output.  When I anchor the T400, the system does not detect the external monitor.  If I go to the resolution of the screen and click on detect, it does not appear.  The weird part is that if I reboot then than in the dock, when the system comes back he * is * detect and use the external monitor.

Any ideas what's happening?  Other equipment connected by the base (USB, Ethernet cable devices) all work very well.

I think I solved this problem.  I uninstalled my video driver and installed the latest version from the Lenovo Web site (which was more recent than the one found by Lenovo System Update).  Now my system properly detects the external monitor when I attach to the docking station.

  • Photoshop CS5 always chooses the wrong monitor in dual monitor profile?

The folklore is that if you go to EDIT/COLOR SETTINGS and open space RGB Working drop down, and then up on the "Monitor RGB" line in what he says is the profile monitor that photoshop is actually to aid.

If that's true, then I expect if I run photoshop on my monitor 1 he would show the monitor 1 profile, and if I have PS on Monitor 2 it would show the 2 monitor profile. But in fact, it always shows the monitor profile 1. Naturally, this creates anxiety that PS uses the wrong profile to display my images, because I normally work with the image on the screen 2.

My configuration: Windows 7 64-bit, PS 12.0.1 x 64. Matrox M9120 graphics card drive two monitors. MANAGEMENT of Windows CONTROL COLOR/PANEL displays a different profile active on each monitor.

(By running photoshop on a particular monitor, I want to say I run photoshop, drag mode non-plein screen on the desired monitor and close it.) Then I run it again and it starts on this screen (including the start screen)).

What photographers want to know, that's exactly what photoshop monitor profile used when displaying an image? Where is the answer to this question please?

The profile associated with this display in the settings of the operating system.

Photoshop DO fixes for each display separately, using the profiles associated with each screen and correction the same for images that run through several screens.  If you move the window, Photoshop updates the values of color accordingly.  He has done that since Photoshop 5.0.
