Vista doesn't recognize optical drive
My computer recently stopped recognizing my E: drive (does not appear in my computer). I tried Mr. Fix It, as well as the registry changes and so far nothing has worked. I tried many CDs/DVDs to, shocker, nothing done.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.
Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.
===============================
Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.
Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.
Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.
Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

Windows 7 doesn't recognize hard drive
I am building two new computers and purchased two licenses OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Two computers use a motherboard BioStar TA890GXB HD, AMD Phenom II X 6 1055 t. CPU, LG GH24 multi-optique player and 4 GB Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM. The first computer was a hard drive Maxtor STM3320620AS of recycling. It had recently been reformatted to NTFS, so essentially start over. The second computer was using a new hard drive Hitachi HD30500IDK.
From the start of the first computer, I got the screen where I can choose which hard drive to install on, but none are listed. The BIOS is displayed correctly the hard drive. I tried to go to the Advanced section to load the drivers, but it can not find the drivers for the SATA controller. I then followed the advice I found for the search for a solution and I found how to get to the command line. I am able to go on the C: drive. I have re - format the C: drive. After it was over, I tried to go back and it still does not recognize the hard drives. After a while, I gave up and tried to work on the second computer.
Start the second computer, I got to the screen to choose the hard drive and he identified the Hitachi HD. I managed to install the operating system and everything was exactly what I expected it to be.
As stated, they are identical, except for the hard drives. I double checked all my connections several times on the first computer, but everything checks very well. It seems strange that I can access the hard disk in the command line and in the BIOS, but it does not recognize the Windows 7 Installer. Any advice in addition to go out and buy a new hard drive?
How is the drive on your computer configuration, it is the first boot device or the secondary boot device?
You can try to switch the jumpers around and make a slave and you optical drive master and see if she will be so recognized by Windows 7.

Windows 8 doesn't recognize DVD drive on Satellite P775 program-112 - code 19
I have a Satellite P775 program-112 that was previously under Windows 7.
This weekend I have upgraded to Windows 8 Pro RTM.Following the upgrade, the DVD drive is no longer recognized.
In Device Manager the drive "POLE * one BD - MLT UJ240EF" is a warning symbol, and the status of the device in the properties is "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) ».
I tried everything I found on the web without success:
-Reinstall the driver (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/cc772156)
-Find and remove UpperFilters / LowerFilters values in the registry (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060): in my case, they were not presentI also tried to plug a player of DVD USB of my laptop - it failed with the same status of the device in Device Manager. This suggests the problem is not specific to my hardware DVD.
Any suggestions welcome!
Thank you
Don't have no real experience with Win 8 but from my point of view, it's a Windows system problem that also appears on an another old Windows systems.
The ODD driver is part of the Windows system (any Windows) so you would not be able to download and install a separate driver.
I had a similar problem with my old Win Vista laptop.
Could solve this problem by removing the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager
I restarted the laptop and the system could install the STRANGE once again without any yellow exclamation point -

Vista does not recognize my drive sata hard.
- I have a Sony Vaio and this laptop is running Vista on a drive sata hard and the hard drive failed, I am trying to load Vista on a clean hard disk SATA of Toshiba. Vista does not see the hard disk and can not find the drivers for the SATA hard drive. I called Toshiba and they said that the hard drive is plug-and-play this is why there is no drivers and asked me to call Sony to the motherboard drivers. Sony said that you need for the Vaio recovery disc. I ordered the recovery disks and still have the same result. I have checked the BIOS and can not see anywhere to set up a sata drive. What can I do to fix this?
Hi Dl54,
A. is the hard drive is detected in the BIOS?
B. what happens when you restart the computer?
C. you get errors?
D. What is the exact error message that you receive?
You can check if the drive is detected in the BIOS, but will not all SATA configuration option in the BIOS.
I suggest you to download the SATA drivers on the Sony site on a flash drive and load it during the installation.
After that you start from the vista DVD, follow the instructions on the screen to install vista. You will see a screen where you choose the partition to install vista. You will find an option to load a driver on the same screen to the bottom of the left hand of the window.
Click load a driver > Browse to the location of the drivers and start installing the drivers.
Please answer in return.

Vista doesn't show that drive external hard connected by USB (USB 2.0 TO IDE)
I formatted and partitioned Maxtor 30 GB HD and you want to use as external backup storage device. I put the jumper to "Master" and the format type is NTFS. The HD works perfectly with my old PC (Win XP) as an external drive via USB. But when I set with my new PC (Vista Home Premium), the HD appears only in "Device Manager" and not the case in ' mycomputer ' or 'disk management '. I've tried different USB ports on my new PC, but I could not be able to get it recognized by Vista yet. I searched on the internet and most said about changing the drive letters and fitness solutions in form, but my problem is that disk external drive does not appear in the "Disk management" section at all in any form. Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Hello
1. What is the status of this drive in Device Manager? Is there an exclamation next to him?

Firefox doesn't recognize flash drive
I have the version 19,0,0,226 of the flash player installed. Shockwave 19.0 r0 and shockwave for plug ins Director 12.2 version are installed, and then set it to always activate. I tried firefox 40 and 41, and it will not work with both versions. (I went back to 40 until the Norton toolbar will work with 41) If I right click on a video of the shock wave I receive no information about shockwave. It works on Internet Explorer. I did uninstall using a Shockwave unistall program, rebooted and reinstalled and it does not solve the problem no more. Start firefox in safe mode disables shockwave doesn't help either. Any suggestions?
I wasn't even today. I discovered thanks to eradication as a plug-in called classic restaurant theme has been the cause of the problem, at least this time. I'll see if it's the ultimate solution.

XPS 8700 won't recognize optical drive
In January, I bought this pc and the drive worked fine until this week. I has not changed recently, any hardware or software. After a day of heavy use (watched a dvd and burned two cd) drive is no longer detected. I would pass out to test if it's a problem with the drive itself, but it block the cables to the usb ports on the top panel. I use win 8.0.
Hi Fraidcables,
Please try this registry fix. If this does not work, I would check that the drive is present when you are running the Dell diagnostics.

Dell Studio 1535 - Vista does not recognize 1397 wireless adapter
Hello
I had to reinstall Vista on my Dell Studio 1535 and the re-install, I wasn't able to connect to the wi - fi because apparently Vista doesn't recognize the card wireless site. In Device Manager, it lists the generic 'network controller' and has a question mark next to it.
I installed system software Dell, Dell Notebook System software, Quickset, chipset drivers and the R206848 file that contains drivers of 1397, yet its still not recognized. What Miss me?
Martin
Thank you Rick. Still could not make it work this way, so ultimately I clicked on the generic and clicked Update Driver network controller and then said that he resembles c:\dell\drivers, and he finds the right driver and installed properly. Wireless now works!

Optical drive doesn't recognize discs CS6
I just got a MacBook Pro and installed WIndows 7. I dug up an old optical drive (3 years?) and installed MS Office very well. However, when I put in the CS6 Master Collection installation disc, it does not recognize it. Doesn't even spin. No idea why? And there at - it a download for the suite option?
Also if the optical drive is a CD player it won't be able to read the Creative Suite 6 DVDs. You can check to see if there's a DVD symbol on the front of the drive.
